The video is soooo good! You have to watch it. Her dancing is phenomenal!
This
Yesss! So disappointed that they aren't doing the video!
I was a teenager when this came out and all these years later I still remember the lyrics. And I used to watch that video and try to do that choreo for hours. We all wanted to be Janet.
This song came from an unbeliveable album. From beginning to end a masterpiece
Her song Black Cat was on the same album, right? Or maybe the one right after...it has been too long an my memory is bad now.
@@jamescurfman3284 yes Black Cat was on that same album …
@@Lovejazz01 Cool, thank you. :)
No it’s this one, the next one, Janet. was really good too. But this album was her album trying to make a difference in the world. The Janet album was more about her exploring or discovering her sexuality.
It's no fun when you don't react to the official video, and see her dancing; her vids were as good as her songs. I'm guessing you keep doin' this, so it won't get blocked, but the visual adds TONS.
For a Jackson, it’s kind of sacrilege to not watch the video- so I’m with you! It might get taken down, but give it a try!
TOTALLY AGREE ☝️😁👍. Both Janet & Michael could & would always “dance up a storm in their videos.
Totally agree. It's a disservice to this song not to play the official video.

Asia, BJ… I can remember back in my mid 20’s actually winning a dance contest at a nightclub with my friends when this song was released. We had rehearsed for weeks beforehand but no one knew. This is my favourite Janet song of all time. The dance routine in the video is pure fire 🔥 🔥🔥
Janet really came into her own with this one. Very strong.
And fun fact - Rhythm Nation is STILL the #1 selling tour of ALL TIME
Used to dance to this in my bedroom as a kid! Lol can't go wrong! Great song and great message!
The video is so mesmerizing that I never really paid attention to the great lyrics.
The entire Rhythm Nation album is 🔥great choice
The video is has to go with this. Re react to that. It’s a must. She’s so cool in that. Her moves, AAAA ++++
Love it! Love Janet! Good words. Just like MJs Man in the mirror.
@ 5:08… BJ getting down with his bad self is always hilarious to watch 🤘😆
Title song to one of the best albums of all time. Every song is good!
I was so obsessed with Janet back in the day. Really since Good Times, but when she came out with so much great music…she was the best! IF is one of my most favorite songs of hers! Takes me back to my clubbing days! 😂
Asia & BJ, her "When I Think of You" is my favorite!!
Oh man, when this dropped! That whole album is a masterpiece. One of Janet’s very best. It’s still relevant today. Sadly, maybe more than when it was released. It was a pleasure watching y’all bop to it. It’s still a jam.
“People of the world UNITE , strength in numbers , we can get it right , one time!” SANG! Most people never really listened to the powerful words of this jam!
"We are a part of the Rhythm Nation." Such an epic Janet song, the choreography was done by her friend Paula Abdul. Pretty cool militaristic dancing. It still kicks to this day. Nice request, Sean G. Her songs "Black Cat" and "Pleasure Principle" are good. I noticed BJ is a goat, baaahhhhh. Congrats on over 250K!
If I came across anyone who has never heard this song before, I definitely would not let them hear it without watching the video, though! It's just too good. This is my all-time favorite JJ song and video! Thanks so much for this great reaction! ✌💙✌
Thanks for listening
@@AsiaandBJ Love your channel. You two are so fun to watch! 💙
I saw this concert with my husband & I was 8 months pregnant. LoL
What an awesome concert! Janet Jackson can dance just like Michael. She was unbelievable!
I went to the Rhythm Nation tour too. Such a great concert!
She dances better than Michael!!
@@lrsrosebud
You think she’s better? I never really compared their dancing. All I know is that they both kick ass!
This is my favorite album by her. Every song was just incredible. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis knocked it out of the park.
I was 24 when this came out and the clubs were rockin, what a fun time to be that age!!
This entire album was recorded in my home town of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Love Janet!
I always liked the groove on this one and, well, Janet 🤩
Love your reactions. Don’t stop on us, we would all miss ya. 😊😊😊❤️🩹
Rhythm nation from beginning to end is a masterpiece
Iconic song and video. Bass line sample from Sly and the Family stone’s “Thank you…”
This came out when I was in high school, this whole album is fire and Love y'all experienced it
i wore this cassette out. lol. lovd it. whole album is so good. came out in 90-91. last year of high school for me. there wasnt a day that went by i wasnt listening to some track off this
My favorite cap is the one I bought in 1993, shortly after the release of 'janet.' Of course I had to get it, with its olive green button, visor, and janet. embroidered on the khaki crown it's perfect. Thanks, Ms Jackson.💝
Thanks for sharing!
When I was in high school I coached for my community's cheer program. My students were 4 - 7 years old. I arranged for my class to perform the halftime at our homecoming game along with myself and the other varsity and jr varsity cheer teams. I have no idea why, but at the time it seemed logical, I chose the Rhythm Nation dance! Ugh! Lol! I worked and practiced these girls all winter, all spring, all summer from morning til late afternoon! We were practicing until we took the field. There were some adjustments made so that the pompoms could be used. In the end, it came together and we rocked it out! In the official video Janet makes those moves look effortless! I learned my lesson, the Jackson dance moves aren't for novices!
This was my first ever Janet experience, the channel was no other then MTV,my Grandpa earned good money as an efficient and reliable handyman, carpenter (he even did some electric stuff, but that was limited) So he bought the first ever satelitte dishes/antennas in our neighbourhood. And when we came over to stay for the weekends with them,me and my mom was glued to the TV because we had never seen so many channels before,it was awhole new world of entertainment to us. So we would bring empty VHS tapes and record MTV music videos so we could replay back home. I think i was a bigger supporter of Michael as a kid,but when i reached my teens i experienced that i got more and more drawn into Janet.
Like with all things,i tend to favor thoose that are under appreciated, underrated in society. And to many Janet was just "Michaels little sister",and that was it. They didnt care all that much.
She might have started off looking like a female version of Michael, with her dance moves just like him pretty much, and also the songs would remind you of that "Jackson sound".
Wich is only natural when your big brother is that popular, and you see all the people looking up to him. But i also loved that she went more and more into a RnB,abit of hiphop type of sound as she got more independent and mature. She went her own way and i think that eventhough her brother will always have "more hits on record" then her,she to me defintly has the best overall songs.
My absolute favourite music video by her? Thats defintly Thats The Way Love Goes, and its mainly because a young Jennifer Lopez is in it. I learned fairly early on that Jennifer started out as a dancer for Janet, before she got her own record label deal and her own solo career. You can even hear her full on Latina accent in that intro of the video. 😆
Quick little funfact speaking of J.Lo,for years and years i have heard how people have backlashed on J.Lo for being a diva, like being ignorant, shady and rude.
But when i wrote long letters to a bunch of celebrities (i collected on signed photos) Jennifer Lopez was one of thoose few that i actually got a reply from, with a huge signed photo with a little heart attached to it. So to me she has always been a huge favourite alongside Janet. And since i learned that Paula Abdul was pretty much Janet Jacksons dance choreographer, and they just hit it off and became best friends, and Janet made sure that Paula Abdul landed a record deal on her own in return,i have always had LOTS of love for thoose 3 as a trio.
I always looked upon thoose 3 as "the female musketeers" "one for all,all for one!". And man do they age like fine wine too (and i dont even drink wine!) *Hears Asia bursting into laughter*
Mission accomplished! 😎Ironicly its my birthday today,so very special to see a reaction to a special music video, and a special artist to me. Thank you Asia & BJ! 💞
Love Will Never Do is one of my fave Janet songs. It has a great video for too! Something for everyone 😉
In New York City at Madison Square Garden Floor seats. Rhythm Nation Tour! It's was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 when they did this song.
I was 5mos pregnant !! Love me some Janet😆😆❤️❤️❤️❤️
You really should see the actual video that goes with this song. It's amazing, and really sets the mood for what she is saying.
You gotta watch the video next!! She and her dancers are AMAZING!
My fave Janet song is Black Cat. If you could react to the official video - I think you'd really love it. The song is just fierce! Hugs from Canada :)
CAN'T bhate on him for livin Janet shes the best ONE in MY opinion😍😍👍👍
I kind of got lost in the movies so much, that I completely missed you giving mad props to Janet!
This was the deal that sealed Janet Jackson as my top artist of all time. No one will ever take it either, just cause of this album alone.
Not only is it a banger with records yet to be broken by anyone, but this album spoke to people. It literally changed minds and courses of peoples lives. When one goes past the mega hits, it is about battling lacking education, drugs, abuse, racism, and all of the negative that hits us so easily. It gave permission to be friends and reach out to those different from you. It lended to the idea that we are all the same, and we can prosper when we join as one instead of shutting people out.
"In complete darkness we are all the same. It is only our knowledge and wisdom that separates us. Don't let your eyes deceive you" The last line on this album is now my motto in life through and through.
This was the late 80s: In pop music, Janet Jackson and Madonna had dueling albums, one just constantly one-upping the other
This song is relevant today! The video is iconic!
Omgosh! I remember being "a little miss know it all" trying to time all my bad ass dance grooves in the mirror to this, lyp syncing to this in my hairbrush before school.
I think I still have this CD some place. Love Janet ever since she was a little girl with the Jackson 5. That's how old I am!
You guys need to see and listen to the "Rhythm Nation 1814" short film, Janet has never been afraid to tackle social issues! "State of World" is a song of hers that's just as relevant today as it was then. Same with En Vogue's "Free your mind"!
I saw the video and bought the album as quickly as I could. Iconic .
Yes got to watch the video which my friend and I learned all the moves😂
I get to see her live in May! I grew up in a tiny all white town in Wisconsin. This came out when I was 9. I had never heard the words “bigotry, prejudice, and racism” until this album came out. She’s the reason why I became an anti-racist. She is and always will be my hero. I love her so much.
I thank yall for this cause Im a mega fan, but I haven't heard the album version in years LOL The Rhythm Nation album is almost solely my 2nd favorite Janet with the thing that keeps it being #1 is the album tracks for this & Alright feel like 2mins longer than they need to be (so I always preferred the single edits for both, in general Im a "if the song is 6mins, I want 4:45 mins to beof the singer not the instrumental", there's exceptions to that ofcourse). This song is so important, & I appreciate that you both choose to do the lyric video because I feel like not enough emphasis gets put on the song & lyrics themselves. And it's so important to note, in 1989 when this was released, this was not the "cool" thing for pop or R&B women or artists in general, the phenomenal thing about Janet that doesn't get talked about enough was she was pro-black & pro-women & pro-make that change before it was cool to be (again especially for women in pop & R&B), she been down for the cause & the culture since Good Times lol. But no, to know that is why it gets on my nerves when she gets easily written off or overlooked as "just Michaels sister" or just left out of the conversation of women entertainers kicking ass, she wasn't playing it safe, she took chances and started the trends that are today in 20-30yrs beforehand.
Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation was so revolutionary that it was compared to Marvin Gaye's What's Going On. The Rhythm Nation Album was inducted into The National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress because of its socially conscious content .
I was in Wallyworld the other day. I really hate going there, but they do play good music. This song came on and I hung out in the puzzle aisle to listen to it.
Asia and BJ, you actually have to watch the original music video. It is stellar.
"We are a nation with no geographic boundaries...bound together through our beliefs. We are like-minded individuals, sharing a common vision, pushing towards a world rid of color lines." - opening from the video. I was 19 when this was released and it's even more relevant today than it was 34 years ago. Still jams but we deserve the dance break at the end of the official video, lol. Leave BJ alone...that video is very memorable, lol.
This came out when I was a freshman in college everybody loved it.
Giant leap for Janet, who 10 years earlier was starring on GOOD TIMES with Jimmy Walker.
This song is for all races coming together as one and helping each other as a rhythm nation WE ARE ONE!
Janet MJ talked a lot about social injustice in their music. Awesome! BJ was like “Show The Video!” 😂 The video definitely gives this song justice! They was jamming in this video!
@Asia and BJ The choreography for the music video of this iconic song was inspired by Janet’s brother Michael Jackson and his military style dancing in his musical short film Captain EO(which features Another Part of Me - a song that deserves a reaction video).
I remember them interviewing Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis before the album came out , and the Jimmy Jam said her new album was “ better than Control ( her 3Rd album ), I couldn’t believe him, because Control was the bomb and I couldn’t see them making a better album, but he was RIGHT!
Y'all need to check out the video with her and Michael and some crazy dance moves in the song Scream. She definitely could hang with him with the dancing(also singing of course)
Love Janet and this song! She rocks!! Asia and BJ, you both crack me up.☺ Thanks for posting this one!🧡
8:23 'It seem like you remember everything" 😅😂🤣
I also never really paid attention to the lyrics. And honestly, even having the lyrics up while listening, I still have a hard time following some of it due to her cadence and the way its mixed. But it's a good message. Way way way ahead of its time. We are all born, we all bleed red, we all suffer the same illnesses, we all die. Imagining arbitrary barriers where there are none is holding us back so much. Imagine what humans could do if every single one of us was united. No one would be hungry or feel isolated, and we'd have cities on every planet by the end of next month.
Wife here..OMG..WOW !!!...Loooooved this!!!.I was a Cheerleader and we had an AWESOME routine...To this Extremely Amazing song!!...Loooove Ms.Jackson..Hey.., Asia and BJ I didn't really realize the meaning either...❤👍💯
This is definitely one of my favorite Janet Jackson songs and videos
You have to see the video ! The song was meant to go along with the video with dance breaks and choreography !! A Must See 👀👌🏾
There’s no way this is your first time hearing this song. It was everywhere. Been on several movie soundtracks. 😂
great song, guessing not showing video is for copyright reasons but the video choreography is tight with a nice nod to brother michael using moves from his thriller zombies dance
Need the video on this one !!
Awesome video!!!
I loved watching her on "Good Times"
Janet Jackson, like Michael, is one of those artists for whom the original video is part of the experience since they’re such stellar all-around performers.
I feel like this song exemplifies the cultural climate of the late 80s-early 90s. The Berlin Wall fell and soon after it the Soviet Union dissolved marking the end of the Cold War. It felt like a time of hope and change, and we were getting more and more media (music, movies, etc) with social justice themes
Reacting to the video of this is a must!!
Three other really good songs on this album are state of the world, the knowledge, and livin in a world they didn’t make, they weren’t the hits but the messages are relevant even today.
YEP💯❤️💃❤️💃 Love JJ!!! Was uppp dancing to this... 👊❤️🔥❤️🔥
great song from a good album; FYI - this song sampled from Sly and the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)"
Get him, Asia!! 🤣🤣 I was a chair dancin fool while the song was playing, so thank y'all for that! P.L.U.R.R. from ATX!
Play the video 😂 yay. Ohhh wow i thought it was the real vid. Ima go and come back later i wanted to see her dancing
This album goes soooo hard! This is the album that made Janet the first woman nominated for producer of the year at the Grammys.
I still play it on album. Fun times.
I played that cassette tape till it wore out! :P Love Janet...
Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul were dynamite female performers to me. Their dancing and singing at the same time were so great. "What have you done for me lately" is like the woman's anthem, lol.
The video is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of Janet's best albums
.....this uses a sample from Sly and the Family Stone's 'Thank You (Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Agin). You two should check that out !!! 😇
Love the song and the dancing!
Janet! Well she's a Jackson so she comes by her talent honestly. ✌
Definitely have to react to the video
You have to listen to State of the World was on same album but definitely was ahead of its time very relevant for today
One of My Fav's from Janet...she was ahead of the curve...but...I'm also down with That's the Way Love Goes, or its Remix...And check out Lip Sinc Battle between Zendya and Tom... He does Rhythm Nation... And when she sings...Say for the Babes she sounds just like Michael....And even being 73 it gets my juices flow'n and my feet move'n... And while I was hope'n to be check'n out The Matrix with Y'all... But tomorrow... Hugs~ CU~
Janet has a big warm hart
You should have done the actual video. Her dancing is absolutely stellar in the video.
I just watched the vid on another reactors yesterday. It’s not the same without the vid! 😮 But, I really enjoyed your grooving to it. I love Janet. 😊
Y’all need to do 90s Janet If, anytime,Anyplace , You want this. I get lonely….
THIS WAS THE 80s!!!!! time aint changed!!
Only missing the video - Amazing dancing in it.
It's time to bring this anthem back!
Awesome song... You need to go watch the video later if you haven't seen it. It is amazing to say the least.
BJ doing the Cabbage Patch lol
The guitar sample is from Sly And The Family Stone's Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself Again.
You should have reacted to the official music video for this song.
You should also react to the whole Rhythm Nation 1814 album and the Rhythm Nation 1814 short film.
Even though I am blind I would love to hear you guys react to the dance moves and to the outfit that she wears things like that but great reaction
Damn, shoulda done the video with this one!
