Just a happy thought for everyone, despite the ending of the video, Justin's mom is quite alive, and plays herself in the video. It's actually here. So yeah, she's good. He's also happily married since 2012 and has a son and daughter. He's moved past his demons, and he's ok.
I hope you all do too. Coming from a guy who's channeled around 27 years of depression and difficulty into music. :) Bless you all.
Thank you for your kind words, we all need to hear heart warming things like this, especially today.
God bless you!
Eshantha Perera, thanks for that! Hope you’re doing well in these... weird times! Cheers from the Netherlands! 🤗
And it's clear that Justin hit a turning point not that long ago, where even though he's famous for those sad songs, he felt it was time to move on from them. His last album or two has been much much more upbeat.
He's still raging. And this was their 2nd weakest album to me. But they destroyed live just 2 years ago. He looks sooooo much better than the time of this video.
Blue October is amazing and completely underrated.
Agreed!
My son turned me on to them years ago. I fell in love immediately with their music and lyrics, because he sings about real life, and portrays real feelings in his songs. It's not something every singer can do. They're always on my play list!
Yes! I can listen to into the ocean and I hope you’re happy, literally on repeat!!!
Only reason I found his channel was because of the blue october tag. They are very underrated. 💙💯
@@southernenigma3427 have you listen alice in chains..? Layne Staley also had that haunting lyrics and what a voice!! Worth of to listen them. Nutchell(unplugged version)👍
My son actually dedicated this song to me once as a way to show me how he was feeling. He always fought mental health issues and drug addiction and no matter what I always told him that I loved him and would be there for him. He is 23 now and has kicked a lot of the drug addictions and is in therapy. But everytime I hear this song I cry.
How's your kid now I turned 23 this year and I'm still struggling
The most beautiful and haunting moment I've had in my life was when I saw Blue October in concert in Frisco Texas. They played this song, and a deep and soulful silence fell over the crowd. And then people started singing. I was 16, struggling with depression and addiction. And I remember being down in GA and looking around when people realized what they were performing. Everyone stopped. Transfixed. And a chorus came up from the crowd that made the band almost impossible to hear. Everyone was singing. Completely still. Holding hands, or with their hands raised. I watched grown adults dropping to their knees. Everyone I could see was crying.
It was one of the most powerful spiritual experiences in my life. And it meant so much to an isolated teen, to see that this meant this much to other people too.
I'm glad you got to experience this song. I still firmly believe that it is life changing.
Cal, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing that! Just to have read your comment you shared that magic and beauty of your experience with me. I felt so privileged to come across your comment! So truly....thank you! Nothing tops those kinds of moments in life.
please check out “into the ocean” by blue october !!
If your gonna do Blue October you gotta do the big 3 being
Calling you
Hate me
And into the ocean
That is one of my fav songs after seeing them live in concert. He made eye contact with me and stared. I waved, he waved. He blew me a kiss. 💙.
the end
I agree you should do into the ocean
Bleed out is amazing
Makes me cry every time I hear it, this song came out when I was lost in addiction. Hits you right in the feels. Thank the gods, I'm going on 5 years clean 💪
Congratulations! 13 years here, and it's still a battle; don't give up!
@@whitewalkergaming11511 13 years! That's fucking amazing!! 💪💪
PROUD OF YOU!!
Congratulations Natasha, well done.
Me too! 4 years. Hits me right in the feels x
So very glad that somebody is reacting to Blue October's music. They have so many amazing songs so I hope you decide to take the time and dive in a little bit deeper to their history of amazing music
I don't know of a song by them I don't like, very awesome band.
Right!?!
Yea
High strung, say X-Amount of words. Your solar, bi-polar, panic disorder seems harder and harder and harder, still you try to control.....Could words be anymore accurate?!
I think X is the song that made me way up to find real help for my mental health concerns and to flee the toxic environment making it worse.
@@michellegriff13 I agree completely. I was in 5th grade when I first discovered this band a little over a decade ago. It was before I got diagnosed and at the time mental illness wasn't something that was discussed even behind closed doors. My family didn't understand what was wrong with me, and I got demonized for it for years. I thought I was the only one that felt like that until I found his music. Songs about depression or anxiety never hit me like his songs about having bipolar disorder did. "I was a little boy, who would argue with a tree" just hearing someone else had struggled since they were a child like you, really makes you feel less alone and not so crazy. Much support and love to you xoxo
Blue October is incredibly underrated.
“Fear” is another good one by Blue October.
the end
I love the acoustic one they did better then the official video one
YES!!!!! Fear is by far one of my favorite B.O. songs. I prefer the album version vs the video but they're all good bc the song and message are so powerdul.
Yes Fear acoustic
@@Zalabim1 why does no one mention Razorblade?
ua-cam.com/video/Wm3z1wBfdRs/v-deo.html
He recovered his drug addiction the band is still making music. its a lot more happy its showing the upside of his life as a clean man, father and husband. I would Recommend their songs "Fear" or "Home" they are both just as emotional but it shows how far he has come.
Absolutely! Both are very good indicators of him achieving a better state of emotion and mental health.
He has relapsed several times and if you go to his concerts ( I've been to 20 plus) when he sings "it's the one thing I wont touch again" he will cross his fingers for the audience to see. For me that just makes him a very honest artist and human admitting that every one struggling with addiction slips up. He is very REAL.
@@amykunhart448 Yes it is very honest to know that you are one day from going right back. Too many are not ready to fight that fight. Once and addict always an addict. Sometime you are active and other you are not.
Blue October saved my life when I was 14. In 10 years, I had the privilege to see them play 30 shows, and each one was a magical, healing, spiritual experience. Blue October has propelled me through the best and worst times of my life and I am the person I am today because of them. When I got married in January, my husband and I played "Home" at our reception. I never could have imagined I'd get to do that way back in 2007. 💙
Well that's what they want they want to save people's lives that's what they love to make music they don't want anybody to suffer. Blue October is amazing they are trying to save lives as much as possible I felt so bad for the lead singer when he was young I know he went through a lot so sad and upsetting but now he's music is more happy and positive
“I hope you’re happy” by blue October is another heavy feels one
Check out the acoustic version.
The acoustic is many times better than the album version imo.
You should listen to their song Home! Justin, the lead singer, finally found happiness and peace and it really shows in their newer music.
YES!!!
Yes! This is our Anthem at this moment in life. We are all so humble and know how one can lose it all in one moment. All praise to God.
the end
@@DavieJones_Lockr have you seen his latest
Home is one of my favorites!
PLEASE do blue octobers "I hope you're happy"
I was going to suggest the same
Do the acoustic one
Dont do this unless youre ready to cry over your ex even tho you've been split up for 8 months, and you thought you were over it
@@Niyawearswhat you ok friend?
Please. HAPPY.
When your Mother leaves a message on your answering machine, appreciate it.
I recommend one of their earlier songs such as "Calling You"
ua-cam.com/video/hsx0oMOLFLA/v-deo.html
The song actually saved my life. I was about to kill myself in a parking lot in Orlando just came on and I didn't do it don't know why but I didn't. I think that was in 2007
Its helped me too brother, I had a handful of pills when I was around 13 with a bottle of jack, took a swig and this song came on. I just blanked out listening to it and started crying. Flushed every single pill there and then and emptied the bottle down the toilet.
I hope you're in a good place now dude!
I am done congratulations on flushing the pills hope you're doing well too
Glad you both are still here :) much love
My brain cant understand suicide. I would never be able to harm myself, but the people who believe that it's the only way out, I'm sure that's a struggle. I wish you all the best. You matter.
Todd Johnson fear was my song that saved me. This song makes me cry because my dad was my everything I was such a bad kid and he still loved me up until he passed
The purpose of art is to evoke emotion. This song does that. Powerfully.
You may like more of Blue October’s music then. Is does that and more.
"I'll drive so fuckin far away that I never cross your mind, and do what ever it takes in your heart to leave me behind." Tears me up every time I hear it because I've felt that way so many times because of the times I felt like I've let everyone down. Thankfully my battles with depression are in my rear view mirror, and I want anyone out there that is battling demons, depression, anxiety, loss, or anything else to know that you matter and you're worthy of love.
Fear is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard by Blue October.
So is Calling You and Into the Ocean.
The Ghost Inside- Aftermath
I recommend doing a quick research of the band to know the backstory of this song. It'll become that much more powerful when you listen to it.
I legit almost cried during that video
@@Treyvlog same dude
Listened to this song repeatedly already... still hits me every damn time.
The beat goes on 🙏
Treyvlog I thought I was holding my composure until the scenes of them rehabbing next to shots of them on stage, then I lost it
You’ll probably love their song “Drilled a wire through my cheek”
Dylan Kifer yessss
Or X Amount of Words....
Jamie craig X amount of words is one of my favorites. I feel like Drilled a Wire is a bit more interesting of an introduction into some of the depth Blue October has.
Or Dirt room
Or the end.
When this song came out it touched me so deeply I had to email Justin...never expecting a response of course but having to pour my heart out to him after dealing with addiction and mental health issues in my own life...unbelievably he emailed me back...it was the sweetest and kindest email and they instantly became my favorite band...today Justin is sober and in a good place and his music reflects that but there are days I need to pull out the Foiled album and remember where i was and how far i have come..i need to break down and build myself back up and the only way I can do that is with the Foiled album. This is my #1 song forever but there are so many other songs you must review. Fear is something that I listen to at least once a week because I have severe panic disorder and it can leave me on the floor in the fetal position but Fear lifts me out of it. Another powerful AMAZING song....please review it!
Been a fan of Blue October for years but finally got to see them in concert last year at First Avenue in Minneapolis which was dope af♥️Justin performs with a insane amount of passion and emotion♥️I would pay to see them a million times over such an awesome amazing band!!
So sad they aren't coming back during their next run for the new album!
"WORRY LIST" BY BLUE OCTOBER. Trust me, YOU'LL CRY. please check this one out ❤❤❤❤❤
Fuck bro such a good song.
My dad introduced me to this song when I was a kid. Couldn’t understand to them but I do now.
"She's my ride home" is a Bonnie and Clyde work of art to drive to 🤙
Blue October is one of the most underated bands. They are truly amazing.
Welcome to the Blue October ship, Alex. This is a band that has been one of my favorites for years, and I hope you continue checking them out!
My favorite band! Saw them during in a tiny venue in Germany. Justin is not only talented, but extremely genuine.
Blue October is my wife's and mine favorite band ever. We've seen em live like 9 or 10 times and they put on a great show. Between this song and Into The Ocean, they both got us through real tough times as kids and changed our lives and continues to do so. Glad you liked it!
Glad you have experienced Blue October! My favorite Band. Keep unpeeling the onion my good man. You won’t be disappointed. Most underrated band ever. Just throw on Amazon Prime music or Spotify and listen by artist. Your mind will be blown. Thanks for taking a listen. “Fear” is powerful and what keeps me going forward in life man.
One of the greatest bands to ever exist. I'm so happy you finally reacted to them. The lead singer's story is just such an amazing one. He's been doing live streams on UA-cam the whole quarantine and even plays live concerts on Stageit like every other week. His music and the whole band are incredible so please check out more!
My recommendation is either Worry List or Light Me Up by Blue October (Live in Texas) :D
The Navy Nerd I’ve been listening to Blue October since I was about 6 and in the recent years I’ve been following them more and more...right now they are my #1 favorite band and as I am only 20 right now I haven’t been through the stuff he has been through but it their music speaks to me on many different levels! I love how their music has progressed over the years and how far they have come. Justin is so great and so happy the things he’s over come and makes songs about his journey getting to the great man he is today. I hands down agree with you about being one of the greatest bands to exist I wish more people would listen to them.
This song is still amazing all these years later!!! They have amazing deep lyrics. Into the Ocean, Say it, She's my ride home!
She's my ride home is my fave!
Kelly30stm the song that gets me is the worry list I cry like a baby every time!!!💚
this one will never not be amazing
@@danielhaley8306 The worry list gets me too!
Into the ocean is my absolute fave.
Blue October is so underrated. I've been a fan since I was about twelve years old That's actually when "hate me" first came out.
Was watching you watching the video, knowing what you'll get from Blue October. I hope you are OK after that. I like how you analyze the verses, and I hope you keep doing that, because it makes music more compelling. The intensity is real for a lot of people, and I feel that this band captured what a lot of people are already feeling even now. That is why they were popular. Got a new sub.
I've seen Blue October live twice now. I've seen Marilyn Manson and Five Finger Death Punch. Blue October is STILL my favorite concert. You should check out Fear
I've seen Blue October 6 times I listened to them in High School but didnt much until I met my wife who is a bigger fan. Ive seen bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Sour, Staind, Skillet and I have never seen a band play like Blue.
Saw them in Baton Rouge a few years ago. Justin is really a nice guy. He did a few songs by himself b4 the rest of the guys came on stage. Awesome show. Much love from NOLA. Stay safe my dude.
Their sound production live is the best I've ever heard. They have shit dialed in.
Yes!! I second "Fear." One of the best fucking songs ever made.
React to All I Want by A Day to Remember
Then the song End of Me by the same band
City of Ocala too. Get to see the bands home and history
“Stay” is another really emotional one from them. Always gets me
My absolute favourite song
Lots of love to all the caring mom's around the world ❤️❤️
If you wanna see how far justin has progressed, look up "Fear" by blue october.
I have to drop by that video from time to time to remember that anxiety and depression is real, and can be overcome.
He has, and he wants to help others do the same.
You have to give a listen to "Fear" by Blue October.
Ur so lucky to feel the chills for the first time while listening to Blue October, I remember those. I got to see them live and OMG they interacted with the crowd like they were at home on stage it was amazing. Justin is in a much better place in his life and the music now has that energy. Alex u NEED to hear their song "Fear" it is uplifting. I listen to it everytime I feel like I'm in a dark place it literally picks me back up. Also the live version of "Light you up" is fucking amazing!!!!!
I've been following BO and Justin's story for the last 10 years. The music has changed a lot since the Hate Me days, I've always preferred the darker stuff, but some of the new songs are equally as beautiful.
I've also seen a lot of your videos over the years so very surprised to see this pop up!
Keep up the good work bro! 🤘
I can't listen to this song without crying.. I pushed my mom away for years while struggling with borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder and drug addiction and alcoholism... I've been sober since may 26, 2015. The night my mom was killed by a drunk driver. I was 18 at the time..
This song literally saved me. It still makes me bawl like a child but it got me through the hardest time in my life. Thanks for posting this video. If you get around to it, you should react to "Waiting for the end" by Linkin Park. Every lyric in that song actually described my situation
Strange that you mention this Michael. Justin and Chester were great friends, and like the rest of us, his death hit Justin hard. I wish I could upload pics here......it's a good picture of Chaz and Justin. Then again, I'm sure you've seen it. Either way, Blue October's music is much like LP's in that it puts into words what a lot of us have felt at our lowest moments. ✌
Justin from Blue October wears all his emotions and life experiences in his music. His definitely helped me out in my lowest points in my life. The struggle is real, but sometimes, knowing your not alone can pull you up and out.
Thanks for doing this reaction to this song.
This is one of my favorite songs ever. Period. Very brutal. Very honest. It’s real and it’s a very real message here.
You definitely need to hear FEAR as its like he's come full circle - much underrated band
My favorite band to see live. It's always such an experience. They were the first band I ever got to see with my cousin, who was my best friend before he tragically overdosed and passed away. That was 9 years ago, and I've seen them many times since in his memory, and because they put on a hell of a show.
This song always gets me emotional, my ex was an addict. He passed away 10 years ago. I feel like I’m the one who whispered how could you do this to me? And this is something he’d sing to me.
And I did hate him, I hated him for what he did to himself, to us and our family.
I found this song after l discovered that my ex had an Ice ( meth) addiction, had stolen thousands of $ from investments for our childrens future, and was also cheating. The line "how could you do this to me?" ( more importantly our children) really hit me hard, and stayed in my head for a long time.
She then blamed me for causing her to do everything that she did. I hated her for that, but now realize that was her way of coping with her guilt. I no longer hate her, but l will never forgive her for putting our children through so much pain, confusion and a broken family.
I hope you're both okay. As someone who has been clean since 2011, this song hits me really fucking hard. I'm 33 now, still dealing with the emotional damage from pushing everyone away. I hope you're both doing as best as you can. If you're ever having a bad day, comment here. I'm always around to talk.
And you've now stumbled on my favorite band of all time... Please keep reacting to them lol
I really love when you break songs down, helps me get the descriptions out that i can’t put words too. Thank you! I always look forward to your videos!❤️
This song reminds me of my ex. She cheated on me, when i caught her we fought and she told me a lot of it had to do with my own alcohol problem. All she wanted was for me to be sober and we argued about that so many times, but i never did that. I left her but not before telling her I'd change, now i am moving over halfway across the country with a couple friends and starting a new chapter. Sobering up. Spreading my father's ashes before i leave as well. Thank you for reacting to this, man! This one is really personal to me and hits home on so many levels.
Oh then you should check out breakfast after 10! Or light you up.
Hope you find happiness. Live each day with your own self respect and you'll get through this. Good luck.
keep going forward dude. don't look back.
There is nothing wrong w getting a new start can be great. I can not speak to your drinking, no one else can but you. I am two yrs sober now, I moved several times to get a new start. Each time would end up in the same spot, actually worse, quicker than the previous time. Nothing changed until I figured out why, why I was drinking like I was punishing myself. I did not drink like most ppl. I had to get help, and there is help for you if you need it. I am wishing you the best, your never alone in the battle if your like I was.
Stay strong, stay sober and dont leave untill your too old to stay. Make the changes happen, your dad will be proudly watching over you. You'll never be truly alone.
Blue October- Fear, bleed out (acoustic), worry list, into the ocean, I'm not broken anymore, stay.
Highly suggest in your own time to check out his videos from the open book your uploaded by a user named Blue Johnson. The tour is a stripped down acoustic show in which he gets extremely open about his struggles with depression and addiction and tells stories behind each song. I went through several dark periods not too long ago and honestly can say hearing his struggles and his music got me through those times, he has a way of articulating every emotion that I felt so raw and powerful and I know he has helped countless others through their hard times as well.
If you haven’t done any further deep dive into Blue October, I highly recommend songs like “Black Orchid” and “Chameleon Boy”. Those pull your soul apart.
Kate Hey gurrrrrl lmao fancy finding you randomly here!!! HAHAHA
She Wolfs Story Oh, hey, girlie! Haha!
There's a Blue October song for every single situation you can possibly go thru. I first saw them live in '07 and never miss a show when they come to NC. So much better live!!! March concert got postponed but I'll be in the pews with my daughter at Myrtle Beach HOB in August 💙 Blue October is my therapy. He's lost a lot of fans who don't like seeing him happy... True Blues are very much HAPPY for him.
Finally!! Love this band. He is such an inspiration to anyone who suffers with mental illness. Check out his live acoustic version of any song.
To hear you say “whatever you are feeling, people have felt that before“ is nice. Makes me feel less alone, if that even makes sense. Thank you 😊
This is my all time favorite modern band. Justin is an amazing guy. Hes overcome so so much in his life. He has so much good music. He also does what he calls open book tours, just him. Intimate tours & he answers a lot of questions fans have. I hope that he still does his tour date in June. I'll be so sad of he doesnt.
You should listen to "I hope your happy" "Into the Ocean" or "How to Dance in Time" all from Blue October he is still making amazing music in 2020 and still touring.
Turbulance16 snl weekend update
When I was at the darkest point in my life, I just played Blue October over and over and over and I honestly think they played the biggest part in getting me through that period. Please check out "Fear" and "I Hope Your Happy" and his other songs!

Underrated and Underappreciated great Band 😢
blue October- the end
goosebumps..... and not the kind you would assume. by the end of the song the first time, it will forever be etched in your brain
Love that you’ve found this wonderful song
This was the first Blue October song I ever heard, and I was in love immediately. Justin Furstenfeld is literally one of my favorite people ever. I watch his live streams on UA-cam. They are saving me during this quarantine. They have SO MANY great songs, Alex! You really should react to more. May I suggest "Fear?" "Light You Up?" "I Hope You're Happy?" I don't even have enough time to list all the BO songs you should check out. I was lucky enough to be able to see them live on June 22, 2018. I had a fucking blast.
This is one of my favorite songs glad you listened to it and loved it!
heeey, this review was made on my birthday and I'm happy that it was about one of my favorite songs!!! thanks a lot, Alex, I really enjoy your reviews.
Blue October "A Quiet Mind" is one of my favorite songs.
Then listen to The feel again (Stay). That might make u cry lol
It’s absolutely one of my favorite songs. Just remember when a song touches you emotionally, it’s ok and important to let that stuff out! ❤️😊🤗
Wow! what an amazing throwback! man, I'm proud of your expansion into music more with every post. keep it up!
One of my favorite current bands without question. This song was originally written with is ex-wife in mind, but eventually morphed into an ode to his mother's love for him. If you ever feel up to giving them another look, they have more great songs that look into Justin's life dealing with his ex and his daughter (The Feel Again/Stay, Bleed Out, The Worry List, Into the Ocean) and some great, really rocking songs that aren't as personal but extremely fun listens (Dirt Room, I Hope You're Happy, Daylight, The Chills). Strongly recommend all of those.
I thought he said this one was about Mamie?
It breaks my heart everytime l hear this one... I mean the phone messages from momma. 😭😭😭
“The Feel Again (Stay)” always makes for a good cry...
1 of my favorite songs...beautiful artist!
Really?! I didn’t know that this band was from our hometown of Houston either! What a way to start the video! Also, another Alex Hefner reaction video already! I didn't expect this video to be sad either and I wasn't prepared to cry either! This really is a beautiful song and I can't believe these our Houstonian homies tear jerked us like this! Anyway, looking forward to more of their reactions like this one in the near future! Keep on rocking, bro!🎸🎸🎸

Alex, I've watched countless video reactions and I have to say that you by far give the most genuine reactions. What I appreciate most about your video's is how you research the meaning behind the song. Said research gives insight and it helps to appreciate the artists/songs. Thanks Brother, Rock On!
You seem to be a genuinely pure hearted person, who really cares about people and their problems. Even if you don’t know them, time after time I’ve heard you say, I’m here for you. If you need to talk to someone, I’m here for you. Your words come from your heart. You just seem so sweet, upbeat, and care about your fellow men and women. Your mother did an exceptionally great job in raising you to be an exceptional man. God Bless 🙏🙏🙏
