This is honestly one the Barbara's rare W moments. She really wanted these women to just take the ball and run with it because she knew they were right there. She only came back in because she wanted to save these ladies from losing too much of their company.

@@KenDotCom The 400k loan is a lot less than what the other sharks are getting. They originally valued their company at 8,000,000. The other sharks valued the company at 1,200,000. I'd rather a 400k loan than reducing the value of my company by 85%
@@HotRatsAndTheStooges Valuations are subjective. Meanwhile a loan means there will be cash outflow from the business and this will put pressure on their working capital should they want to expand in the short term. I think they went for the right deal considering the reason they came to shark tank

When Barbara makes an offer, you take her offer… you can tell she is very well-intentioned and really gets involved with her entrepreneurs. People can make fun of her for not making enough offers, but that just means that when she does is because she is ready to be your mentor.

Personally what I don't get is there have been other people on shark tank that have offered to do puzzles or other similar work. If I recall, most of the sharks would not go in on it because they felt it was just a covid peak time. Meaning people were ordered to stay home so people needed actives to do at home. The sharks most of them anyways said no because people are starting to get back to their lives and not home as much. The sharks said the only reason their business was booming was because of covid when people were home basically. They felt numbers would decline start to anyways. Now you have these ladies here who did it in 2021- still covid. People were probably buying because they were staying home a lot....etc. It's the same thing. Yet they got all 4 offers.....odd

It might also be because this product would do very well on QVC and having to repay $400,000 plus interest sounds more unattractive on the surface.
As much as you all joke about Barbara I think she invests very thoughtfully, both in terms of her portfolio and, in this case, how she invests in someone and something. I had to play back what she said nearly a dozen times because what she said was so empowering. It's a shame they didn't take her deal because they possibly could've learned and gained more from that partnership. Barbara really believed in THEM.

They should've removed Barbara from Shark Tank a long time ago. The show has moved to bigger deals. She hasn't. That's the real problem and why she's always out on everything. Half of her deals were for $50k or less. Most of the rest of her deals weren't that much higher and usually there had to be at least 1 or 2 other sharks that would go with her.

When there are no sales, sharks say they can't justify the valuation. When there are sales to justify valuations, sharks want more equity.
The show is about them making money while promoting businesses it’s never been about being nice to people
They clearly say they won't do a deal if they don't see money in it. That's business.
Yes, that's called business. When there are no sales, it's a big risk to an investor, because you have no idea if there's a market for the product or if people even want it. You also have no idea if the company has systems and infrastructure in place to handle the volume, or if the whole company is going to go up in flames the second you starting sending more customers their way. If you have little to no sales, you have to walk in there with a realistic valuation because you're asking them to take a gamble on something unproven. Risk vs reward.
To your second point, if a business has sales and is only offering a shark 5% equity, of course they are going to ask for more equity. Look at their track record. These guys have taken many deals from doing nothing to doing over 50mil. So the value that they bring is huge. Also, you probably DON'T want a shark to only have 5% of your company. If they have a tiny fraction of ownership in your company, it is going to get pushed to the back of line. They probably aren't going to spend much attention or energy on it and instead will focus on the deals that give them 20%, 30%, or so, as there's way more reward in it for them.

I love this business as a whole. I think they could be even more profitable if they would allow people to submit their own photos and adapt a technology that could automatically match colors in the photos to paint colors. This way people could paint photos more personal to them. They could even mark up the price for personalized ones giving the time and effort it takes to colormatch paints. Great idea nonetheless!

Barbara was truly out, but she came back in as she was genuine in the fact they didnt needed to gave up so much equity for partners, they are crushing it, her offer was to open their eyes to that reality. Take the money, give up less equity and you still get the connections you are looking for.

It's so good that they are doing well up to thst point. I'm really curious as to how they differentiate from something like paint by numbers, which.. I could be wrong here. But hasn't that been around for longer? Real impressive that they managed to make a name for themselves in an industry that I wouldn't exactly call new
There's a decent market for this kind of stuff. It's a plataue market though. They won't be busting into much higher sales for them. They hit a peak in market because of the lockdown. They might get a couple big orders for schools from any licensing agreements but this product isn't going anywhere. Good enough to maintain an income though and live comfortably. They did the right thing at the right time
It's about competing against puzzles or coloring books as part of a licensing deal with Disney characters or whatever. It's a huge market, essentially a free for all for people to come in. Kind of like restaurants, the barrier to entry is low, competition is fierce, and copycats are everywhere. But if you're good enough, you can still carve out a hefty chunk for yourself in your little corner of the world. Anyone can make coffee, yet we have Starbucks. You don't have to be different, and you don't even have to be better. As long as you're as good as the next guy, you just have to be there.
How they didn't take Barbara's deal is beyond me 😅

While Ashley and Brittany received a great offer from Sharks Lori Greiner and Daniel Lubetzky, unfortunately the deal did not close.
Ashley explained in an interview to Kern Radio exactly what they hoped to get from working with a Shark. For the couple, giving up 15% equity is worth it for the opportunity to “learn as much as we possibly can” from the Sharks, as “they’re so good at their job.”
Speaking exclusively to Humble Rise, the company said, "We are grateful for our experience with Shark Tank. Lori and Daniel, along with their team members, were incredible people.” And there are no regrets. They go on to say, “We left the due diligence as friends, but we are grateful that we are on our own and getting to decide what we do next within our family.”

Mother and futhers should be treated as equal parents. It may be that the fathers didn't want the children we don't know, but how it was framed in the video just didn't settle with me. Like it's the natural thing for kids to go with mothers no matter the circumstance

8% is double what she could have gotten at a bank, and no money is paid for the equity in the company. It is given away for the right to borrow at an exorbitant interest rate. She could have gotten a loan at a bank for 4% and given up no equity. Hence why it’s a bad deal.
She distinctively stated she would restructure their business and show them they don't need anyone. Also she only came in as other sharks were ripping these women off. Kevin valued the business at 1.2 million. What a joke.

Where do you live? I've never seen it in Europe, or even heard of it being done here. It seems like such a dumb idea - I get why kids need colouring books as their motor skills aren't developed yet. But wouldn't adults get bored by this - you don't learn anything or improve your skills.
