- The Scion xB was never sapose to be and Overlander. Today we are doing a review on the 2014 Scion xB. Also why the xB is the perfect Overlanding vehicle. So, enjoy the good and the bad in one of Scions best creations.

Perfect example of "work with what you got" type of build. Too many stickers for me but overall a pretty cool functional rig!
Just scored a 2010 scion xb 40 thousand miles 1 owner Manuel transmission having a blast so far !!!!!!!!
Sweet ride. I did 28 states in 97 days with my XB. Bed, shelving and more. Quite spacious to work with

My girlfriend and I purchased a 2009 xb for 2700 for this exact reason, its been a great car for camping and beach trips
Great video, that was cool to see the whole build!
And it's not slow either. Stock 2008-2015 xB's are very snappy. With those bolt ons probably 175hp to the crank. 175 doesn't seem much but a 3089 pound car it can move.

I’m running a 2015 lifted Scion xB, with 2.5” lift kit, and a 215/70/16 27.9” Toyo open country at3. And it rides beautifulz
I really needed these tips for my car, but the gas tank is really small compared to other cars, so you'll be filling up about the same either way. Good build

How did she fit a full size spare?? My 2014 only has room for the donut. I can’t close everything if I put a full size spare
Take out or trim all the plastic storage stuff back there. Throw away the foam piece that sits in/on the donut spare. I had one of my stock wheels (16in steel wheel) back there with less trimming than putting the 18 there. But for both, the foam piece needs to come out. The floor/cover for that area might not sit the best, but its not bad
Loll… I would’ve just bought an Element at that point. xB are really good for the daily. I like my xB. I’m sure she’s soft roading for sure
Elements are way more expensive. 🤷♀️ "Overlanding" doesn't mean "rock crawling" or "mudding". Too many people seem to think an overlander has to be able to do super technical trails and that's not the point at all. 👍

I'm getting 16.6mpg on just a regular 09 xb. Did everything I can think of for better economy but nothing seems to fix it
Have you replaced your spark plugs and checked your air filter?
@@JoseRomero-lp3dl yea both brand new even the premium erodium plugs at 18 bucks a pop
@@Eye_4_An_Eye don’t forget ur gas tank. When it gets old, u have to replace them. Otherwise the elements gets in and affect ur mpg. So change ur oem gas cap for a brand new one.
Check ur oem manifold catalytic converter, ur O2 sensor, clean ur mass airflow sensor, check ur tires to see if they are a bit inflated. That also affect ur mpg. Check ur suspension as well. If they got old and u haven’t replaced it, those can also affect ur mpg because ur old suspension ain’t what it use to be brand new.
Yeah something's way off to get MPG so low. As if someone's messed with the timing.
Does it run rough? Does it have the same get up and go that it's always had?
From a stoplight you should be able to beat most cars, front tires chirping. Acceleration when passing other cars, from about 60 mph to 100 mph should be brief and exhilarating (flooring it). From 30 mph, the downshift from 3rd to 2nd, flooring it and then letting the transmission upshift into 3rd at around 5,800 at about 60 mph, should also be amazing.
My '09 with 89k just came back from a cross-state bachelor party. And still got 24.8 with 25 year old fast-boys driving it.
