- My name is Jeff and I’m a full time solo adventure nomad living and car camping out of my 2008 Scion xB for over 2 years. I have traveled a lot of the west coast of the United States. I recently discovered the beauty of Sedona, Arizona. I do alot of vlogs, skateboarding and mountain biking videos. I have a lot of hobbies and enjoy sharing them on this channel! Clean your throttle body … super easy! Then follow the process to relearn the idle. Your idle will be like brand new after. I have the same Scion XB with oil burning.
The Oil Burning Issue ... Toyota / Scion sent out a letter ( Recall/Warrenty extension) a couple of years ago to fix the oil problem for free! My 2009 had same issue. The factory had installed the wrong "rings" in the engine that caused more oil to burn. It is over a 1k job that I didnt pay a cent for. FYI
Probably 2K+, but the recall is for 10 years, and most of the cars that had the problem were the early ones.
Try changing your PVC valve. It slowed my burning of oil a lot. A little below the fill line before an oil change.

I love my Scion xb! I had a 2005, but a lady turned in front of me and I T-boned her SUV. I did get hurt but my only injuries were from my seat belt.(8 cracked rib, fracture L1, and a small lung puncture). I had 2 weeks to find a replacement car and I got another XB because it held up so well in the crash.
The kne thing I don't like about XB is the road noise, which could be because of the tires. Thanks for video .

The rough idle is likely your throttle body...it's dirty and needs cleaning along with your mass airflow sensor, you could have dirty fuel injectors, there's an extended warranty for your oil consumption if you qualify...otherwise it needs a new piston kit (expensive). Also replace your PCV valve and make sure you run synthetic oil. While you're there, replace the engine air filter, and the cabin air filter. You're not doing bad for the miles! Good luck.

I got a 2014 xb it consumes half a qt of oil every 800-1000 miles. I check it every week lol. I recently switched to pennzoil 5-20 synthetic
ultra platinum and it barely burns the oil now.
I use the same thing in my 2006 and I also have lower oil burn consumption this way.

Mine doesn’t burn oil. 2008, 240k miles. However……. Lmao. It doesn’t get as good of gas mileage as I’d like.

My xB 2008 doesn't burn oil because it one of the newest after they fixed that problem
You need to reset relearn your idle put your key in the ignition turn it to on turn it back off turn it back on again turn it off put your emergency brake on start the car and put it in Drive you'll notice the idle RPMs going up and up usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes
I love this country but I hate the fact that they don't appraciate simple good things like this perfect car. I owned a Camry in 2001 and I still own a 2009 Scion xB and I prefer the Scion....the reason I compare the two is they share the same engine, same transmission, same platform, same weight..
basically the Scion is the non fancy non luxurious non BS of the Camry and...that is my taste...better steering system(more road feel) strong durable frame....stability of a medium size car. l LOVE IT!
I put on thicker oil and a quarter of Lucas oil stabilizer and is working fine it went from burning 3 quarters in 3 weeks to 1 quarter in a month

Well we have a solution with u dude.
If ur worry about those old but gets it down own tires. Look up fb page of lifted xB. I’m rolling on my 2015 lifted Scion xB.
I have 2.5” lift kit. It has 3rd/4th gen Toyota RAV4 on the front, and 2.5” spacer in the rear. If u want a comfort front suspension and reduce the stress, is get a front sway bar end link bracket relocation to reduce stress.
And I’m sitting on 215/70/16. Toyo open country at3 and black rhino boxer wheels.
It handles much better.
If u want a better engine or switch to another engine, so u won’t deal the oil consumption shit. Either get a replace the engine of the 2AZ for around $750 bucks for another used one but from 2011-2015 with good low miles, because u get more chance of not dealing with oil consumption, or get a better 3.5L 2GR V6 Camry engine, and a 6 speed AT aison transmission. U will make ur xB become more useful and more powerful. If u want to spend $2500. If u get with both engine v6 and 6 speed AT for that price, u will have ur money worth spend
#one put a clèan pice of cardboord under the engine,run for a bit and then turn off and look for oil leeks,than check your head gasket for leeks .....
#2 when did you change your spsrk plugs pull and look for oil if found you have a leek past the rings mostlikely its a head gasket change it the oil might be coming out the back where you cant see it......

The piston rings are the wrong size. Its allowing oil to pass through everything and not get recirculated. Its basically just getting burned and "shot" out the tail pipe.

Bros back on nofap journey wagon. I took holidays from work on friday and monday but the place i work said i need to work on monday i came back.
Another thing i realised yesterday i am almost after 7 days. I must recount i have written my last relapse day but i havent counted.
Well i got headache yesterday and i must pee so many times. I got bored nothing really to do so i realised its a manipulative headache. I went in woods for a a walk and slowly the headache from my right side disappeared. I peed again in woods. Then headache started on top frontal head and after it i got hard control on my back head maybe its due to wearing a cap.
The nofap and effects of pmo are real. I relaised guys the more i relapse and pmo i become or feel slave in a society or at my workplace.
I feel like i must work all my life and there is no financial independence i must work like a horse. Taxes will not allow me to make my own company and be a entrepreneur.

Hey brother, the throttle body is dirty. It needs to be cleaned and your idle will go back to normal, your car's idle will purr like a kitten 💯💯

Use thinker oil ??
1. The car isn't really made for anything remotely off road. The base model wheels/tires aren't great because the intent from the get go was for people to replace their rims.
2. You are living in your car, so not many seats will hold up. Mine look new at 230,000 miles as do the ones I've seen at the junkyard.

Oil consumption is an identified problem and Toyota will repair it. The problem is with defective pistons. Oil consumption is not typical with Toyotas. I have 160k mi and I don’t use a drop. So, call a Toyota dealer and get in line for the engine recall.
Toyota doesn't have idle memory if you change your battery or disconnect your battery sometimes you have to relearn your Idol
How many miles do you have when you notice your oil consumption loss?
I don’t remember. All I know is I would be putting oil in at least once a week

From what I’m researching, it seems like people either don’t have oil burn. Or others use regular oil and the oil burn has gone away vs using synthetic and having oil burn… or, lol, the amount of oil burn would be depending how worn that specific engine is.
Lift spacers up front, 2 inch. Put them on mine. Haven't found a mountain road yet that this thing can't conquer. A taller tire then fits giving a little more. Trust.

@@AdventuresWithJeffOG I have a spare set thanks to the plandemic. I'd have no problem sending them if any interested covers the shipping. Or go on eBay and I believe order from the Russian Federation. Simple install. I've also heard that the Rav4 struts are interchangeable for several years.

Your car is all oem looking; tiny wheels, temporary roof rack, no sound system or major mods. Yours is also the 2.0 (2010 older). Only mods I see is the painted front which you may have done, but most likely bought it this way. Tail lights and tint.

drop all the way around and I don't bottom out on speed bumps unless I drive like an idiot. That probably is the problem with this toaster. The driver. I'm also on 18" 235/40R18's 95 V rated Triangle tires and Focal Wheels.
1:45 vehicle awareness would save your bumpers, fenders and doors. I also have a backup camera.
2:54 oil consumption? Really? I don't have any issue with this and I know more than 100 people in the community with no issue either.
1st year I had the car (2011) I put 46,000 miles on it. Drove 174 miles a day round trip to work 5 days a week.
Same 2nd year, still no issues.
3rd year 26,000 on it.
Now I drive it around town and to cars shows and at the shows, I typically run the engine in idle for 3-5 hours to keep my electrical charged.

I've had mine for 15 years, bought it brand new. Ordered it from the Fleet department at Toyota Carlsbad where I was a Auto tech.
You either got a lemon or your a bad driver.

Hello fellow scion xb owners i got a problem with mine when it rains my driver side floor gets super wet I any idea on what the problem or problems is ?
Mine had a similar issue I think my mechanic used a pressure air hose to clear out dirt in the coolant reservoir
The engine has a recall. Toyota will replace the engine for free..

I like but to much gas in my Scion 2013
too low, too noisy, too much oil use, too much gas use, and it's like driving a giant brown wall down the highway when it's windy. if it didn't run, run, run, I'd really hate this car.
Small tires? My TRD xB is fast , original 19in wheels & has 330.000 original miles . Recall had everyone getting a new engine. My xB has a beautiful interior, no check engine for 10 years.
How tall or you? How do you fit in there?
I’m 6 feet. I fit just fine with the front seats moved all the way forward and the back seats folded down 🤙
You should have bought a 1st gen xb. 2nd gens are mostly trash.
