Why is it nobody seems to be able to supply the right colour red leather, if you notice most restorations or new builds seem to use the same supplier of almost a pink red colour leather, nothing like the deep red available in the 60s etc.
Remember and take into account that most people do not have there iPhone android or television color calibrated. So the color you and I see is not the same color that the leather actually is. Do not judge a video without taking into account also the device recording that video might not be calibrated as well We should give them the benefit of the doubt. The got everything else right but not the color, that does not sound right to me
This machine is positively beautiful 😍 absolutely decent piece of kit. would 100% love a car like that. I think it woukd be a true drivers car. no driver aids, big engine, rear drive, classic styling, super classy interior. this thing is sex on wheels. If i could ever afford one, id get one in a heartbeat. Kudos to the crew, absolute master stroke 👌💯
They remind of Peter Wheeler TVR which to me is fantastic. I own 3 TVRs and adore Peter’s vision for cars. Thanks for the video never heard of them before will look them up .....
A bit of a different approach to the Peter Wheeler TVR's. VERY deep pockets, Buy in a big US V8, put it inside a car that looks a bit sporty - triple the price - and sell on. No testing or anything.
Chrome rims around the rear lights would help it look less fibreglass, more classy. Frenched in lights I associate with late 70s/early 80s hot rodding, bit naff.
Not a fan of the steroidal haunches. Could not get good sense of interior, boudoir decor was extremely off-putting and distracting. Hollywood Whore House. Full frontal view captures the Italian inspired classic British sports motor car. A subtle cove on the flanks would show well. Possibly a two tone AH silver/black livery. Admirable blend of old and new.
I look at it as DB4 GT Zagato at the front, a 250 GT California SWB spider from the fire wall to the rear where DB4 GT Zagato returns. The roof line is SWB cali spider and rear fender hunches are SWB Spider as well.
Hats off for having a stab at it, but ffs I want so much not to be a keyboard fucking detractor. I really do. However, they even say in the video that they have drawn ( quite literally) from all of the best known and most highly regarded marques of the era but their target market is fucking saturated with similarly half arsed shizzle. Don't pastiche the past, there is a sadly for them a thriving restored scene which sadly relegated this effort to the kind of expensive kit car obscurity that it probably doesn't deserve......maybe.
Awesome design & execution however I have to wonder about the viability of "no driver aids" & what appears to be no cabin airbags or bumper/crumple zones in today's overly regulated auto industry. Not sure if this automobile would comply with the big brother attitude regulators have for importation & sale of what would be considered a newly designed car. Think TVR. I guess under the circumstances they would be kept relegated to "bespoke" specialty car manufacturer status with very limited production quantities.
5 speed? What's wrong with the 6 speed? Anyways, several things I would change about the design of this car but you gotta love the ambition of these guys👍👍🏿👍🏾
🤡why not a 10 liter V16? For the weight of the car, a nice turbocharged straight or V6 would be adequate! This is going the American way of size vs smarts!
This would have been a better video to watch if you had sorted the sound out, it spoils the enjoyment of what was an interesting video. In this day and age it is neither difficult or expensive to do.
I couldn’t agree with you more, rookie error thinking that room was suitable as it was an echoey sucker! I reduced it by a fair amount but lesson learnt for next time.
The point of these videos, it is so we can see and enjoy the cars, not pointing the cameras all the time to the engineers, there is no need to do that, they are not famous or recognizable, please show the car, thAts all.
Can't believe I've only just seen this video! What a gorgeous looking car, I love the overall look, you can obviously pick out various design elements from period classics...and I do like the rear, the only reason I think it looks higher on the haunches is because the cabin is low and small in dimensions. Interior is great too, especially with the quilted panels etc. Best of luck to them I say!
It's a great idea ... several people have been re-imagining old classics and updating them into modernised cars for some years now e.g. Frontline and their new MGBs, Singer and their air cooled Porsche's, and the brilliant Alfa Giulia Sprints from Alfaholics. So it's great to see a new kid on the block as it were. But the sad thing about these wonderful cars is the price - all of them come with eye wateringly huge price tags - cica £100k, £200k, and even £300k. This means that only a very few lucky people will ever get to drive and own these clever cars. What's the price of the Comet? No mention of it on the video or the website, so my guess is, it will be well north of £100k and probably much much higher, given the amount of man hours that has to gone into the hand built manufacturing process. What a shame then that most petrol heads and genuine enthusiasts will never be able to save enough to buy something like any of these cars in their lifetime. For example, consider the fabulous MGB GTs and MGB Roadsters. They used to be sold as 'the poor mans sports car'. They were rewarding to own but affordable for the enthusiast. I'm not knocking any of the classic car producers above - they've developed a business model that makes them a good profit and good luck to them. But what we're desperately missing in this country are a new wave of really innovative engineers and entrepreneurs who could bring to market an AFFORDABLE classically styled sports car for the fans - something (say) more in the region of £30-40k. The nearest we've got are the MX-5 and the now defunct Fiat 124. Both are quite nice but not British and not really 'classics'. Oh well, let's hope a knight in shining armour turns up soon, but in the meantime, keep saving those pennies in your piggy banks ...
They look like a cross between an Aston Martin Zagato and a TVR on steroids. But I had to say I always appreciate a good craftmanship and those cars are fantastic, well done guys!!!!
Aston Zagarto in the nose, flat floor E type cabin & a mix of AC & C type in the tail yes you guys pulled of the impossible. YOU ALL SHOULD BE SO PROUD Rodney Duncan from New Zealand
Admission: I've never liked the word bespoke. But I don't like the word robust either. I guess I'm not much for fashion. Oh, and that's a beautiful car.
what an amazing machine! my gosh why has there not been more press about this beautiful car? Had I the were with all to purchase this little dream, it would be mine in a flash.
Good looking car, (eye of the beholder and all that), but not entirely sure about the colour. Completely certain about the quilted interior though, get it TF out!
Good lookin, Aston, Fararri , combination very nice classic lines, but the upholstery yuck yuck you really could have done something better there something more classic for sure like a wooden Dash ,,and Classic steering wheel ,much simpler and some more traditional, leather seats ,wool headliner would have really made that car just absolutely perfect such a beautiful car but the the upholstery in the inside appointments just suck ,it would also be cool to have ,A 6 cylinder, about 300 ci. ," perfect body,,,,,,
Looks a great car, but those rear haunches spoil the aesthetics. I can see what they’ve tried to do but have gone too far making it look far too heavy and comic book like. Tweak the styling and it could be winner!
Just my thoughts... Many old British sports cars have accentuated rear haunches, I just think these are far too much. Don’t get me wrong I wish the company the very best and hope they have great success. Believe me as an owner of a Caterham 7 I love the idea of small British car manufacturers!
Best view is from front, rear haunches are way too high and names of the car aren't cool. As for a "true British Sports Car" with a Corvette engine ... ? However, it will be interesting to see what the price will be, how many will buy it (it's plastic with no history/pedigree) and how long the company will be in business for ala TVR, Jensen, Marcos, MG, Triumph, AC, Ascari etc.
2:45 those door handles do not fit the car at all. Love the car but those handles are garbage. I guess you are doing pretty good if that’s the biggest issue. Eww, and a 5 speed.
And watch it disappear into oblivion! It really is a mishmash of styling clues from successful previous designs rather than a clean sheet design. In my humble opinion it's trying too hard to be a retro British sports car. There are bits of AC, Aston Martin etc in its design and that gives it the kit car look. The cockpit is a clashing juxtaposition of technology, the classic wood and alloy steering wheel is from on period, the too big flat screen display from another. The trio of dash top gauges are a bit fast and furious whilst the cluster of cheap off the shelf switches is an ergonomic mess. The designers have obviously looked at cars that were styling icons and copied them together in their vision, and missed by a mile! Financial pit of turmoil and failure is the only place it is going.
yeah, i think you pretty much nailed it. interior work is particularly awful. but it's mostly for rich americans with no aesthetic sensibility, no doubt they think it's amazing.
It is unquestionably a beautiful looking car. Only problem is its design cues are straight from a zagato db4. I dont want to be driving a fibreglass replica and pay tons of dosh for it. I don't get it ....make a new car put in some elements but make it look different. I guess they chose the safe option to get the company up and running but it somehow lacks the true british approach.
I sort of agree. It is just about different enough to be a 'new' design with a strong connection. My preference would be for it to be manufactured using aluminium panels although the extra cost of this might be too much? The interior looked fantastic. Clearly a group of highly skilled guys.
I like it a lot, but if I bought one I wouldn't want any GM engine in mine. I'd want a Ford or Alfa engine in it. It reminds me of a DeVaux coupe made in Australia.
If it’s a new car how can it be a classic car? It’s not 40+ years old? Or are these the stolen aesthetics that make it a classic? And yes rear haunches a but too large.
Classic in appearance, not in actual age. So yeah, those "borrowed" aesthetics which make it look like a classic car. But then again all "new" designs consist basically of things borrowed from the past. She does have a big ass though.
Very impressive! I have seen a selecion of Dowsetts cars at this year Petrolicious Drivers Meeting in Bicester. The Comet has also been shown at the London Classic and car shows in London.
The cost of ownership was not mentioned, so I researched this and the average built price is £140,000. I like the idea that this is a car custom built to how I like it, but I want ABS brakes on modern road driving. I’ve had some bad moments in non-abs early Ferraris! That might be my driving ability but to cope with the unexpected on today’s roads, I think abs is essential. The £140,000 price puts it into competition with some very desirable cars, Porsche 911’s; Ferrari 458 Italia; Aston Martin Vantage; Jaguar F- Type; Alpine A110 at £55,000! In fact many main stream modern fast sports cars are available for less than this Dowsett Comet either Brand new or slightly used. I’d buy a Ferrari 458 Italia! That is likely to hold onto a bit more value on resale than the less well known Dowsett. Or an Alpine A110 and save £85,000!
So this evidently is based on the Evanta Barchetta from back in 2014 which was made by the Evanta Motor Company which coincidently also was led by Ant. Of course the Dowsetts Comet has a roof but overall it is pretty much the same car. Not taking anything away from this "new" project of Ant but it is more or less just a slightly different take on the same concept, however beautiful that concept may be. A concept which, by the way, reminds me a lot of the older Austin Martins, with that shark mouth grill and the head lights and I wonder if they've been in contact already to discuss that big resemblance. To offer some constructive criticism; I think Ant should see if he can't make a deal with a British engine maker, instead of having this American heart beating inside, and make it a true British sports car. I also think the dash and other fibreglass components look a bit too plastic and would be much nicer in, for instance, a brushed aluminium. And I find the car has big hips, those big rear wheel arches are a bit too big/high for my taste and I think the car would look much nicer if these were a bit more slender/lower. Still a very nice car and my hat off to Ant not just for coming up with the design but also for taking it one step further and actually producing it. Nice one!
I think the whole car is styled beautifully...why build a car to celebrate the styling of the 60’s by giving it the name of the sub mediocre Ford “Comet”?!?
It's 2020 now, since 2 years their website is under construction. This car will stay a project prototype as many others, you will never see it on legal streets.
Recognizing the hand built uniqueness of these car, the fit and finish, panel gaps and general execution of this car is very rudimentary. I'm supposing they're expensive but I suspect the owners will be disappointed.
Love the design, Zagato meets Cobra. Please improve the exhaust note though, this car deserves it!! 9/10 from me!
Why is it nobody seems to be able to supply the right colour red leather, if you notice most restorations or new builds seem to use the same supplier of almost a pink red colour leather, nothing like the deep red available in the 60s etc.
It’s bespoke - this is the customer selected color. Buy one and you may specify your torch red interior
Remember and take into account that most people do not have there iPhone android or television color calibrated. So the color you and I see is not the same color that the leather actually is.
Do not judge a video without taking into account also the device recording that video might not be calibrated as well
We should give them the benefit of the doubt. The got everything else right but not the color, that does not sound right to me
I hope they could offer an all electric model too
Here from the future 2020 I can assure you that petrol will not die any time soon and China is destroying any hope of a new car maker succeeding.
Is that your brainless manifesto
This machine is positively beautiful 😍 absolutely decent piece of kit. would 100% love a car like that. Beautiful car. Beautifully designed.
Most horrible reporting.
Poor sound quality.
Poor camera work.
Does not do the car any justice.
Sorry dude!
They remind of Peter Wheeler TVR which to me is fantastic. I own 3 TVRs and adore Peter’s vision for cars. Thanks for the video never heard of them before will look them up .....
Awesome. Which TVRs do you own?
Cheers
A bit of a different approach to the Peter Wheeler TVR's.
VERY deep pockets, Buy in a big US V8, put it inside a car that looks a bit sporty - triple the price - and sell on. No testing or anything.
always loved TVRs too. The shapes and colours were simply the best.
True. This reeks of TVR's mantra.
No ABS? A step too far IMO.
Never seen these before but I love it! Db4gt zagato crossed with Cobra? With a TVR style safety/fun ethos? Perfect 😎
It almost looks great. Those rear haunches are just too high
Completely agree. The rear end looks a bit of a mess as a result.
I quite like them.
Agreed to high. A lower profile would be much nicer to suit a classic design
It's distinctive!
They are okay, even period correct, but the whole car looks somewhat generic.
The front looks quite nice...the rear, not so much
Chrome rims around the rear lights would help it look less fibreglass, more classy.
Beautiful car, blends elements of Aston Martin and TVR, great transmission, but why does it have a lump for an engine? Why not run a Jaguar 6 or 8?
Put more DB4 Zagato in the mix please....
DB4GT Aston Zagato after a rear end shunt....?
I look at it as DB4 GT Zagato at the front, a 250 GT California SWB spider from the fire wall to the rear where DB4 GT Zagato returns. The roof line is SWB cali spider and rear fender hunches are SWB Spider as well.

Looks like heaven , goes like hell , sounds like flatulence.
Jeez, your plumber must have a full time job at your place.
@@team3383 , no plumbers required Team , the pipes get a regular rattling....its the hops in the fuel yhsy does it....
NO E NUMBERS NO PRESERVATIVES JUST THE NATURAL FLAVOUR OF DRIVING

That guy driving this thing on the track.... did he, by any chance, play a character named Earl on That 70s Show?
Nope, the actor was Robert Clendenon, the pilot's name is Adam
Why does the driver look so worried?
The point of these videos, it is so we can see and enjoy the cars, not pointing the cameras all the time to the engineers, there is no need to do that, they are not famous or recognizable, please show the car, thAts all.
I like it. I think it is awesome!!!!! Great job guys. Hope it does well for you.
Great ,,, Lovevretro styling
Great video. Fab car! :-)

Simply outstanding. Well done !
That is a thing of beauty
I like the steering wheel.
Looks like a Aston Martin Zagato mixed with a Spyker and a Ferrari. Love it! Sound great to.
lotus roof
Older Corvette / Aston/ Ferrari lines all together.
Quite bespoke.
They look like a cross between an Aston Martin Zagato and a TVR on steroids. But I had to say I always appreciate a good craftmanship and those cars are fantastic, well done guys!!!!
Nice car, but the grill needs more depth and the rear haunches are to prominent. Other than that I'm really impressed.
Gorgeous!

Petrol it's so last century
Well they're probably gonna make petrol cars for another 100 years, so then they're REALLY gonna be last century
I love this nastalgic car thats a tribute to Brittish automotive history. I want one!
Looks a great car, but those rear haunches spoil the aesthetics. I can see what they’ve tried to do but have gone too far making it look far too heavy and comic book like. Tweak the styling and it could be winner!

The front end is very Aston Martin, I suppose it would Ansty used to run a business making AM DBR replicas a few years ago.
Placing cold air vent is stupid will give you neck perfect cold while you feet and butt sweats from engine heat.
Hardly saw the outside of the car - just the seats and the mugs driving it !
Looks like it should be in gta5. Amazing work
The Viewer the comet is already in gta5 lol just not this one
All good but can’t be registered in EU without airbag and driving assistance
It's an Ast-obra or a Cobr-ton
Not to happy with the name Comet. It deserves a cool name like the Fonz or something.
What James Bond should have had
It's beat the new TVR into production!!
The tvr company has had alot of issues might never build any cars
Love it beautiful hand built boutique built uniqueness. The rear arches are a bit higher then i would like to see, but overall a winner
And watch it disappear into oblivion! It really is a mishmash of styling clues from successful previous designs rather than a clean sheet design. You know it’s good when the first words out of the host after opening the door is “Can I have one!?” like a child in a toy store!
I don't like the tabs on the headlamp covers.
I think they will change that if you bought one. Bespoke, costumed to your requirement, bloody brilliant :)
Feel a little proud to be english , what a machine.
Could you tell us about it's quirks and features? Give it a test drive and when you're finished, give it a Doug Score?
Weissman did a better job 15 years ago.
True but they had 34 years of manufacturing to get it right. They are back now too. Only gone for a few years. Don't have to go back 15 year's either
I like how the exhaust makes an American motor sound British. Very cool
what does that even mean?
I now know where me lottery winnings are going 👍
Def Shepherd don't forget your new friend when you order one......not fussy about the colour.
What a beautiful car and incredible craftsmanship!
Beautiful design. But exhaust sound needs attention

Great design..no boring conservative shape. A beast of an engine and what an engine..the mighty LS3 smallblock Corvette V8.
I want a stripped down version for under $10,000 .... when can it be ready ??
price?

Stunning! I have always wanted to design my own car and it would look SO much like these! Love the old European classics but I Love amenities! ❤️❤️❤️
Recognizing the hand built uniqueness of these car, the fit and finish, panel gaps and general execution of this car is very rudimentary. I'm supposing they're expensive but I suspect the owners will be disappointed.
I love that car. Just wish I could afford one 😔
Great car! Must be super expensive, though.
Sounds fantastic until you crash it at 115mph.
I think they try to copy Shelby cobra big engine light weight.
