A lot of bad comments from people who don't understand this car. Here are some facts you need to know 1. This car is a road legal version of a racing car, so of course it is uncomfortable and noisy. This is a racing car. 2. This car will participate in the WEC next year in the LMH class, and the fact is that the car that will participate is actually a downgraded version of this car. (WEC hypercar that is currently running has BoP regulations) 3. Adrian Newey is the person who designed this car. 4. Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen own this car. So if you think you know more about cars than Alonso and Verstappen, and you think you can build a better car than Adrian Newey, then please continue your ugly comments. (I know that most of you don't even know who Adrian Newey is, and don't know what LMH and BoP are).
Smart people can design something technically incredible that still turns out to have been made with misguided intentions that don't end up making sense in the real world. On paper, this looks like a good idea. In CAD software, this looks like a good design. However, it's only once you put it all together that you realize that they wasted their time making it road legal because the noise is SO atrocious that you'll get hearing damage without serious ANC Headphones. Although, they did sell them all, and that's really all the company cares about, so I guess the only waste in this case was on the part of the customers that thought they wanted this or would like it.
Sure newy may build great cars and verstappen and alonso are great drivers and this doesn't affect them because they are used to it in the grid but this car sounds absolutely awful,, they should have just built it for tracks and made it better sounding ,,it's just not it car for streets and regular driving ,,not everyone is a race car driver ,,for millions of dollars to spend there are far better cars than whatever this is .
Credit to Jethro for keeping his composure enough to put out a genuinely informative review. The fact that he considers it his duty to get that to us, is reflected in the effort he put into it. Thanks Jethro. That was epic.
No, you would chose a hypercar with much lower noise as the Jesko or the Chiron since both the Valkyrie and the T50 are as loud as a concrete mixer; even more: you probably will go with a Cayman or a Emira since they provide fun more than enough, are comfy and won't make your ears bleed...
This is how supercars are meant to be. Wild, loud, brutal but beautiful, and at the pinnacle of engineering. GMA may have produced a lighter and more rounded package for the driver, but this feels like a proper F1, Enzo, P1 (et al.) successor.
That "starting procedure" is actually the proper way to start any car. Turn on the batteries, then accessories which turns on the computers and it does some checks on the sensors , primes the fuel pump, etc., and only after a few seconds do you put your foot on the brakes and breath it to life. If you engine is naked, you can see and hear some of the checks the car does when you turn your key or push your button to ACC, the throttle body will dance, fuel pump whirrs and clicks.

This car is proof positive why you need figure like Gordon Murray controlling projects like this, instead of a corporate chasing image and aiming at a demographic. In the end, it's a ghastly trinket. Horrid as a road car. Can't race it. Worst of both worlds. Of the tiny number of people with both the money to buy it and the ability to exploit it, can't see them going for it. It'll go to the usual trophy hunters who will do about three track days in it surrounded by paid lackies who will massage their ego and tell them how wonderful their driving is, and then it won't turn a wheel again. Going by the looks of the new RB supercar, it also seems like Newey is no Murray when it comes to conceiving road cars. The fact that he's probably F1 best ever aerodynamicist doesn't mean he's good at designing an enjoyable road car. All the evidence is that he's not.
I love this car and everything that car is stood for. But I just know I'd hate owning it because of how compromised both it is as a road legal car and track weapon. As the saying goes, jack of all trades, master of none.

10:16 lol I can barely hear a word he’s saying, and in a way that’s a good thing. Thank you for including accurate subtitles. I’ll get to watch again with close captioning on.
@8:50 literally the most annoying sounding car in the world
i got to work on this while working at Cosworth. heard the scream of that V12 on the dyno at nearly 12000 rpm. it is a masterpiece 😍
Certainly an engineering marvel but practically an irrelevant daily driver....even by super/hyper car standards. It's a very expensive toy for wealthy individuals who will likely/mostly use it for track days. Rather have Gordon's T50, Bugatti Torbillon, MC20 (but not the depreciation!). Man, way, way to loud to be a practical road car.
04:08 best piece of automotive cinematography I've seen in a long time. I'm surprised nobody commented
A lot of bad comments from people who don't understand this car. Here are some facts you need to know
1. This car is a road legal version of a racing car, so of course it is uncomfortable and noisy. This is a racing car.
2. This car will participate in the WEC next year in the LMH class, and the fact is that the car that will participate is actually a downgraded version of this car. (WEC hypercar that is currently running has BoP regulations)
If Alonso and Verstappen own this car and Newey designed it, it makes a good car?😂) Man, cut the crap)))
@@moogle68 Yeah, they decided to built it because rich people will buy them
Sure newy may build great cars and verstappen and alonso are great drivers and this doesn't affect them because they are used to it in the grid but this car sounds absolutely awful,, they should have just built it for tracks and made it better sounding ,,it's just not it car for streets and regular driving ,,not everyone is a race car driver ,,for millions of dollars to spend there are far better cars than whatever this is .
Credit to Jethro for keeping his composure enough to put out a genuinely informative review. The fact that he considers it his duty to get that to us, is reflected in the effort he put into it.
Thanks Jethro. That was epic.
Compared to the GMA T.50 it sounds like crap.
Jethro is really giving that Valkyrie some stick and unleashing that Cosworth V12 on the road .
Loved this review ❤
More Jethro reviews please !
IF i had the money to buy this, i'd buy a GMA T50 every time.
@@Buran01 From what i have seen the T50 is much quieter and people have conversations in it no problem.
Usually you buy both
@@r129r16pfl This is the answer. Both.
@@r129r16pfl lol, if possible i would
I love that ‘Alternator-whine-through-a-Marshall stack-in-a-metal-trashcan-tumbling-down-concrete-steps’ sort of sound.
This is how supercars are meant to be. Wild, loud, brutal but beautiful, and at the pinnacle of engineering. GMA may have produced a lighter and more rounded package for the driver, but this feels like a proper F1, Enzo, P1 (et al.) successor.
*track supercars
I think supercars should work on the road. This is a daft toy.
I know the noise would get old for some, but i personally love it. Those straight cut gears along with the engine noise is music to me.
sounds like god gargling jackhammers.
I’d choose the T50 every single time. That is a car. This is a pain to hear. I really appreciated the parts of the video narrated outside the car.
What mikes are you using, amazing audio despite that monumental crosswind.
The perfect Batmobile 🦇
That shrieking sound is one big huge plus for Valk and no T.50 can beat it :D
might be a controversial take, but I think all road cars should be able to drive on a road
Great video, thank god for subtitles.
I can't hear him talk.
old and deaf are you
Your lucky..
Insanely good video! Very cinematic. Would love to know which cameras you use for the interior such as for the exterior hard mount shots 👀
The Cinematography of this video is legitimately noteworthy...
What a great clip… my favorite hypercar with the McLaren P1. The engineering story (I have read the book) behind it makes this car so iconic already
Sounds awful. To the point that the video is basically unwatchable
I stopped watching this 3 minutes in, it's unwatchable.
lmaooo you cup cakes are insane, sounds like a race car onboard, clearly something you have no appreciation for nor have ever watched
back on playstation .. .
I love that from the cockpit it sounds absolutely identical to my tuned Ducati 999 with its insane Termignoni exhaust and 10500 rpm redline. The acceleration seems even more urgent than my bike. Insane.
Why is it so god damn sonorous?!?! Can't even enjoy the v12 from the inside. Crazy how people aren't complaining
I'm glad they sped up the gear changes a bit. Still doesn't sound like it's as fast as a dual clutch but it's good to see that it's a bit more sped up
So glad Jethro did this film, I think nobody could have explained better what it’s like to drive the Valkyrie on the road
@thejoshi96
> So glad Jethro did this film, I think nobody could have explained

Well...
Maybe Supercar Blondie could be given a shot at doing it?
As long as she promises to wear an infeasibly short skirt.....
Jethro is absolutely the right person to objectively review this car. Good to understand how it performs on the road even though it appears so extreme.
Once again, another top production from TopGear😎!
Play on high quality 1440p for best enjoyment!
Is it? The voiceover sound level is way too high
@@tehmorbias I am here for the car, the engine and the beauty of nature, I couldn't hear half of what he said, even when it was audible, I was too fixated on the carbon fiber interior and engine note😁😎!
Well I wouldn't normally have said anything but you brought up the production of the video 🤷
All I'm saying is they seem to have made the mistake of matching the dB of the voiceover to the dB of the presenter talking while driving. The disparity is particularly noticeable when it cuts from voiceover to him talking without the engine on.
I had a 996 gt3 that made the similar rattles and noises. Always sounded broken until you ripped on it.
I fantastic to see an actual road video of this car. Despite how famous it is there aren’t any good videos of it
I would rather have the Gordon Murray T50. Sounds better and easier to live with. Annnnd, sitting for 3, no headphones required. Just saying.
I love this car and everything that car is stood for. But I just know I'd hate owning it because of how compromised both it is as a road legal car and track weapon. As the saying goes, jack of all trades, master of none.
Where is the road they tested it on?
NA-120 in Navarre, Spain
Also the D132 France/Spain border
Excellent review from TopGear. Good work guys!
Now I think a T50 review would be nice
They did that last year...
And this, ladies and gents, is why you ABSOLUTELY need ear protection when you're driving a racecar. And make no mistake, this is a racecar.
Head to head between Valk x T50 x AMG ONE is really needed
I’m certain the noise would get old really REALLY fast
One of my fav TG videos for a long time - top work Jethro!
My head is buzzing... ;-)
Feels like the Valkyrie was reviewing you. Your voice was the background noise to that V12. Crazy loud!
