Bought the 27in version today. Update firmware, in monitor settings, Adaptive sync on, vrr on, disable dynamic brightness and turn on gsync. Set vsync on in nvidia control panel, vsync off in games and enjoy with zero flicker. I've never owned a curve monitor and am super happy with it.

Great review. More reviewers need to show what backlight bleed looks like on a given monitor. Big props for you doing that. I own the older, smaller, 1080p version of this monitor and love it, but I was really surprised how much more backlight bleed this newer version seems to have. My Samsung has basically none, but it does have a bit of color shifting near the edges when viewing bright content like a white webpage. I was assuming this monitor would basically be the same, but bigger but it turns out that isn't really the case.

This monitor was the behemoth of all monitors in 2020, especially when the COVID crisis was kicking in. Despite its excellent benefits, its build is somewhat awkward, and would be more suitable for business use over extreme gaming.

I just got the Samsung odyssey g7 32 inch. I have had many top end monitors over my many years of gaming. Many different top of the line monitors from different manufactures. I have been gaming since the first game Pong. The samsung odyssey g7 32 inch is without a doubt the best monitor I have ever had in my 63 years of age. Set up correctly it is smooth as butter with a great picture. I do know a bit about computers as I used to build high speed computers and phase change cooling systems. I have NO connection with Samsung other than I bought this monitor. Some may be put off by the curve as the average curve for most are about 1800 and this is 1000. I find it more immersive and hardly notice the curve as I have had curved monitor previously. I have Zero problems with flicker or anything else. This thing rocks smooth as butter. I would add I got one with Zero dead pixels and no noticeable blacklight bleeding.

Excellent review, got one yesterday. At first the curve was a bit too much, but man when I gave it an hour and played Apex it was perfect. The added peripheral vision a curved monitor gives you makes everything so comfortable and easy on your eyes. 24” is personally to small for me even for competitive gaming, and a 27” is slightly too big but a 27” with a huge curve turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. Best monitor ever.

I bought this monitor (27 inch) a few weeks ago and I believe blacklight bleed might not be as bad as it is on earlier units. I was concered about the agressive curve at first but I'm actually completely fine with it. I planned to buy a cheaper monitor at first but I realised this is actually quite a bit better than most of those that are 100 USD cheaper and I managed to get one for 510.
One of the fastest monitor ever. Qled backlight VA so it's colors rival those of high quality IPS panels with much better contrast and it's HDR 600 work pretty well sometimes I have to say. I watched some 4K movies on it and played a few games like Horizon 5 and Doom Eternal and it can look better than SDR.

    Regarding the backlight bleed:
my unit has actually no bleeding whatsoever. Seems like I won the backlight bleeding lottery. But it's also a sign that there is no general problem with bleeding in this series.

Well, it's no secret that you almost have to expect VA-panels to have at least some backlight bleeding. So I can give you that, that cases like mine, who have no bleeding, may be rare. But it's not utterly impossible.
What I can tell so far, is, that Samsung is doing a good job at QA, especially that it also comes pre-calibrated, no dead/stuck subpixels/pixels.
You also shouldn't forget that cameras are more sensitive to things like glow (which is as far as my knowlegde goes inevitable) and bleeding. So it may be more harsh and distracting as it may be in real life. Some friends of mine got that monitor too and the feedback is overall positive with it. Mostly, there is very little bleeding which is hard to notice and therefore not distracting.

wow nice presentation and content. I actually prefer VA on my gaming monitor because I value the contrast + deep blacks and good black uniformity WAY more than the improvements in response time from IPS. BTW the backlight bleed you are seeing isn't necessarily a property of VA panels as it is a property of edge-lit displays, just exacerbated by VA due to the pixel's poor light modulation at extreme angles, like the fov to the backlight around the edges.
Perfect monitor would be this formfactor, resolution, refresh but an oled.

IPS actually suffers from worse motion blur than samsung SVA panels.... while typical AU Optronics MVA and AMVA are worse than IPS....
the issue is, people online make up their own ratings on what's good and what isn't then spreads that b.s. all over the place. i see it on reddit ultrawide master race all the time.... they keep bringing up shitty asus or whatever brand which are NOT using samsungs custom SVA panels..... and then claim samsung is "just as bad" and lumps all panels together. the truth is, the best way to compare motion blur is to "perfect" tn panels.....
      tn > sva > ips > mva/amva
i would throw OLED in there, but OLED while having near instant pixel response still have motion blur issues, but OLED fanboys will make shit up to justify their purchase.
supposedly "new" IPS monitors coming LATE 2020 have finally fixed IPS motion blur to be closer to TN displays.... but i only see one brand marketing this along side their "preorders" (eve monitors) no other brand is talking about IPS improvements......

I don´t understand the focus on competitive gaming for this monitor... what has me hyped about this monitor is that it seems that we FINALLY have a 1440p VA (so great contrast) without most of the flaws that have plagued VA monitors in the past few years (namely bad sharpness due to the weird subpixel layout, bad response times and significant ghosting).
For people who value immersion over outright cheating in games (those low contrast tricks...), this should be the most exciting monitor release in a long time. It's like the ultimate all-rounder (great for gaming, movies and even work...).
That backlight bleed has me worried though (speaking of which, no mention to local dimming performance?)
I only wish they had a cheaper 144hz version for all of us who cant push AAA games past 100fps at 1440p anyways.

Too many bad reviews of dead pixels, etc. I was going to get an extended warranty, so I wouldn't be out money on the monitor, but i going to buy this one now. Honestly, love that your video is well structured and time stamped. Information is easy to digest and find. Delivery of jokes and such could be improved but of course that's a matter of taste, style, and experience. Your review seems somewhat like an online article review which I for one tend to skip over almost all the jokes and filler just to find the real meat of the information. With other youtubers I tend to listen to the whole thing without getting bored or tired, with their jokes and delivery of those jokes keeping me wanting more. But of course this again is a matter of taste, there may very well be a demographic for your current and perhaps future style. I can see you growing in subs without too much trouble.

    I've got Samsung CFG70 (27" bended 144hz gaming monitor).
Few things from me, because I see everything is the same:
    1. Stand is massive. They could have done much better job. Even with vesa mount it's still too far away from the body. Due to this, even with 3rd party stand it's still taking so much space. It's deal braker to me (getting Asus monitor).
    2. You should have mentioned how good is OSD. Single button control for everything - you can do everything in the dark. I love this type of control.
    3. Missing headphones holder. Just a nice thing to have.
    4. I think it has some sort of internal refresh rate overclock protection, because I was unable to overclock it even by 1 additional hz.
    As always, excellent review.

I wouldn't recommend the Lenovo. I had one last week for 600 euro. There was no blb, bit of color banding and the 240hz is nice on this tn panel... However... The colors are extremely washed out (worse than my dell s2716dg) and just dont look that good and the fan...
The fan is the worst thing about this monitor. It needs a fan to cool the gsync module. You might think; Oh I wear headphones anyway. I could hear the fan with my open back headphones on.
The fan is also always on. Even when you turn the monitor off. I had to physically unplug the power cord for it to stop.
A positive thing was that the power cord was longer than the one from my LG 27gl850 which made it easier to route.
Also this thing is heavy, so if you do buy it, make sure your monitorarm can support it if you have one.
For now I guess I'm either sticking to 144hz 1440p or if I really want 240hz move back down to 1080p. That would also mean changing back over to intel to push more frames which seems an expensive and stupid move at this point. So I'lll wait till we get some good 240hz 1440p panels.
