can't really justify spending 250+ more euros on the g7 instead of the lg27gp850 just to notice a difference when playing dark looking games in a dark room honestly
Meanwhile, I just got the LG and I'm trying to bring down the color saturation a little bit because it has that hyper real look. The thing about highly saturated color is it's like a sweet drink, it's not necessarily better, but the sweetness will make you think it's better in a direct comparison.
I have definitely been loving my G7 32” for the past week. It took me a bit to figure it out but it looks amazing after get all the adjustments dialed in! Thanks for your videos to guide me through my purchase!
Awesome friend! Since it's been cold and of I had to pick one monitor to use... I have picked the G7 to play my games (civ 5, rts etc...) ... Happy New Year stay safe...
Sure black better but black trailing around objects is god awful ! Maybe its good if you dont play fAST paced games much something slower also it has lower response time compared LG or any other IPS. Ultra fast IPS might have overshoot and bit inverse ghosting but not as bad as on Samsung im glad i went with IPS. Im more settled in towards backlight glow and VA panels have still bleed but its not as noticeable sometimes 😑🙂 also some are HDR and its +- same better nits than on this...
Thank you for this video! I'm in the market for a 4K 32" monitor and had just about decided on an IPS monitor due to it's cheaper price. I currently have 27" 1440p VA panel and I love the contrast both in games and watching videos and movies. I had no idea IPS was this bad in that aspect compared to VA. So I'll keep looking until I find a reasonably VA panel monitor. I don't think I want to go for OLED and risk burn-in
The IPS is alot faster from 3:30 to 4:00, play the video, pause a few times and notice that the IPS is crisper, where on the VA there is more ghosting due to slower respons times. They both have cons and pro, but as a pure gaming monitor id pick IPS over the new VA's. The new IPS from LG with ATW has reduced the glow alot, it's the new GQ series. Also the curve on the Odyssey fckn sucks. Contrast ratio tho, here the VA wins every time but respons times are overall better on IPS still. Power usage, not sure, but from past VA panels, the VA tends to burn much more power.
Quick question: what is ATW and would you recommend one of the new nano-ips monitors from LG? I would go IPS over VA because i mostly play games with some lights turned on in my room so the "low" contrast ratio of ips doesnt really matter
Its a shame that manufacturers apart from Samsung are not innovating in LCD VA and instead going down the LCD IPS route. No image retention, no burn in, no black smearing, high contrast ratio, 2k 240hz. I think AU Optronics provide the panels and are going to discontinue them. The issue is that Samsung only have them curved and high angled which gamers dislike.
I ike VA more but I just can't use it. After years with TN I tryed VA (LC Power) and got bad motion sicknes und eye strain (VA Panel was kind of flickering / smearing in Motion. Maybe a more expensive VA panel does the job better but I wont risk my health anymore and will stick with IPS and OLED.
Just make sure when buying Monitors it's flicker free. Or 1000hz. I had a Samsung TV before and it went to a low hz with the backlight and I did get headaches. Lots of monitors have eye care and or are flicker free. I know what you mean on headaches when watching a certain display. Its not fun..
My ips phone looks better than my previous OLED phone. There is one area that OLED is vastly inferior to ips, and that is color volume. And except hi end OLEDs, also color gradient!
Good review, but I would like to compare it with the VA matrix from LG. It's very surprising that I don't see 32-inch monitors on the VA matrix on sale, although I own one myself. I would like to see updated versions of VA monitors from LG. And what is also disappointing is the absence of a G7 without curved screen.
I bought Dell 27'' 1440p 165hz IPS for $250, it is recent and has better contrast than 98% of IPS panels. It is truly amazing I never notice backlight on dark background.
I want a VA version more, but I hate the curvature. Just knowing that there is a a curve and the image is wrong, already upsets me. I might have to put up with having a brighter black image. I've been in a state of monitor buying limbo for a while.
Beleive me, you'll get used very quickly to a curved screen. In fact, i just switched from a curved Gigabyte VA to the LG 32GP850B without curve and now the screen looks outward curved to me, just not right. Also only get a VA if you can live with the severe black smearing and ghosting. imho VAs are best for viewing still images and reading, but only the higher end ones like the Samsung G7 are good enough for gaming. The high VA contrast is always pretty nice though. Only higher end OLED panels give you the best of both worlds, but usually for double the price.
The problem is, when you want a curved monitor its always VA panel. I dont know why they did that but its really rare to find a curved ips panel monitor.
Bro you are obviously a massive VA lover, showing many situations that benefit the g7. G7 is good, but for most scenarios the cheaper LG works fine aswell
Just the obvious difference of VA vs IPS in dark room Gaming. But in ambient lighting it's even. My new room now is set up to show both styles without of rgb... both are awesome thats why I buy both kinds always..
Did u expect to see a white screen on "VA depth analysis" video? He clearly showed scenes where the VA blacks are noticed. If you didn't want to see that, you shouldn't have watched the video
Bro that’s why you’re the only person on UA-cam that I’m a member of their channel because you breakdown everything & you’re not or sound like a paid reviewer 💪🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
While I agree with you on this topic for the most part.... LG's QC far surpasses Samsung's in my opinion. Never had an issue with an LG monitor but first Samsung G7 I got was nothing but issues (i.e. panel flickering, washed out screen, etc.)..... the "panel lottery" is real for some manufacturers more than other. Also while subjective to certain extent.... the build quality of these two panels are not comparable. The LG feels more premium than the G7. Little details worth mentioning. I was really looking forward to enjoying the G70a I got but was so disappointed.... I am sure my experience is not reflective of the majority of people.... buyer beware
Think I'll keep to buying an IPS panel over VA.Even with the inferior contrast,it doesn't look that bad,and I play in a not too bright not too dark room, and I've never had problems with picture quality and contrast. STill I'd love to try a VA some day,it looks pretty good, even if the dark level smearing is off putting-
I would actually argue against the whole dark room/lit room argument. Even in a well lit room, the ips still looks washed out compared to VA. It's not just the blacks that look better on the VA, it's every color on the spectrum cause it can actually produce a wide gamut. VA just does a better job making adjacent colors stand out more plus the darker blacks in conjunction with each other.
i used to believe when people say IPS is better due to black smearing issue. Ever since i bought both, i'd say most IPS users had no idea what they're talking about. VA wins hands down. Color looks better too in VA. Use your logic and think, how can a screen have better display when they can't generate black color properly?
there is no such thing as 3d depth VA sucks allways on colors and brightness i got the samsung g7 and returned it had worse colors and brightness than my benq 200 dollar ips monitor and the curve is a mess it makes thwe screen look smaller and distorted
I had a g7 and I sold it and got an lg now I'm human, never again VA......Very dark tears in the eyes, headache.....and bad colors from the side! Ips is more expensive but also the best!!!
From what I seen in the monitor market lately, IPS has been the one getting the most development and manufactured compared to VA. Heck, in the 1080p category, VA monitors cannot compare to the IPS line at all due to the amount of research and development given to IPS compare to VA. There is also the fact that the market is pushing IPS more than VA. There is also a IPS monitor I read that is already pushing the limits of the native contrast ratio. I really hope VA won't be pushed aside, or dismissed entirely cause I do see a lot of potential in VA panels.
Yea I agree. Samsung either needs to continue or sell its VA tech so they can improve on. The G7 could get faster etc... even a little bit better would still give ppl options on preference. Happy new year friend...
I have the option of a curved ims 24 1080 va panel, or a 24 flat 1080 ips panel, both 144 hz. I really appreciate the better darks, but i read that "there are many bad VA panel monitors, while ips are mostly good" I get it Odyssey g7 1440 are one of these good va monitors, but I don't have the money for it right now. I just want to know if in my budget I should get the ips one knowing the VA is probably one of the worst in his kind. This comments makes me more certain about this, but I would like a confirmation.
I have a C24g1 and 24g2u(the original one with great contrast) from AOC, and I always go back and forth between which one I run as my primary, IPS has clearer motion, but the VA is so much nicer for single player games
i would get a samsung VA monitor in a heart beat , but I can’t stand curved screens and samsung has a hard on for curved screens , which sucks because they do make awesome displays but their all curved ….
Hi Viktor love your vids man, i have the both dell2721dgf and odyssey g7 32 inch, any chance that you can do a video how do you get that settings for image quality , on screen settings
@@DisplayReality hehe ye like i said i own them both , what i like about odyssey is the contrast and the dell is the crispiness and color but i still dont get the good settings like in ur vids , would love a settings overview and not just me .
with the G7 at 400€ and the LG at 460€, which do you recommend? I've heard that the G7 suffers from panel ungluing, something i'd hate to happen to me...
I recommend the G7 or G6 as those prices are low also. My Neo G7 unstuck as glue was not enough in a certain area. Quality control friend is a real thing. Tho I hope whichever you decide on getting is perfect..
So what do you recommend im going with the budget options available not specific on brands but should i go for IPS or VA i feel like va will give me richer colors cause of the contrast but the ips looks like it has a natural saturation
I have been using VA panel for years, and since my current monitor had some vertical lines errors and I need to send it in for RMA, I had to buy another monitor fast and went with Samsung Odyssey G50A and the IPS panel is horrible. There is so much vignette that the monitor feels like it is bending outwards!
VA is better than IPS because it has local dimming... Feature parody ftw. lol A more useful comparison would be with local dimming disabled, actually comparing IPS to VA.
So are you saying if you woudl spend the same amount of money for a VA as for the GP850 then it would look bad and is not worth going VA? Looking for an upgrade for simracing. I'm not sure about the ghosting on those VA's. Never had one. IPS all my life.
I'm thinking about changing my 24-inch VA 1080P monitor for a 1440P but I see that the ips in black is very bad. I already had an OLED (MSI MPG271QRX) which for the price to pay I don't think this technology is worth it as much as it has pure black and the colors are a little more vivid but nothing out of this world either. I have been evaluating the Samsung Odissey G6, the AOC Q27G3XMN miniled with 360 dimming zones and 2 coming soon to the market such as the msi mpg272qpx ips miniled with more than 1000 dimming zones and a Xiaomi one with the same characteristics, what do you recommend I do? Should I wait for these 2 miniled ips models or go for one of the 2 va's already available? Thanks in advance.
I've had the G7 for like a year and I've not been happy with it at all. First, there're still issues with scanlines. Second, the bloody screen flickers on certain content. Literally blinking on and off when I'm doing stuff. It's very annoying. You can adjust the black stabilizer and contrast and it helps a bit but hell. The experience is awful. Third, the curved display is now peeling off the frame in the middle. I expect the screen to come off very soon and it's spreading to the corners. Just ordered the LG and hopefully there won't be any of these issues.
Sorry for your troubles friend. I truly am. While I have not had Any issues I have seen the new G8 screen cracked or start to come off on a review already. That aggressive curve is the culprit. I hope you are happy with the LG!
week 2 of using it. Im used to the smearing and it's not that bad. Where it shines is in anime games. Dang the VA is popping off colors ive never seen before. Specially in 2d fighting games like Blazblue or just watching anime in general.
I'd argue that even mid and low end VA monitors have better depth over all ips monitors. the difference is most mid and low end VA panels don't have the same color reproduction ability that their IPS counterparts have. and most suffer from minor ghosting and smearing, granted ghosting has almost been completely eliminated on VA monitors with technology advancements.
It's true the colors are awful in VA and so are the very low nits. My mobile phone has an ips screen (not OLED, an ips) and looks way better than my LG VA monitor, even after fine tuning the latter. In factory settings, it's horrid! A very clear example of colors being off in VA is to play a pool/billiards sim. Simply because the colors of the balls are very familiar to me from real life usage of a pool table, and the in-game colors are just gorgeous on the ips phone and very inaccurate on my VA panel.
@@justdev8965 That simply makes no sense. How colors look is due to Backlight and coating, has nothing to do with panel type unless you are viewing a VA off angle. VA is also not necessarily dimmer than IPS, that too is dependent on backlight. Your phone probably has a Glossy coating, which makes It look better. Besides, phones come calibrated for very wide color gamuts, so they show oversaturated colors
Thanks your videos help a lot, I’m planning to go for the Gigabyte M28U or the M32U for my Ps5, the price is quite high atm so waiting for a sale on that monitor. What do you suggest ?
The m28u transition is slow. Local dimming is slow. I have a video soon on it. I'm not sure on the m32u. (I will check soon to see if that slowness is the same on the m32u on yt) but try to see on yt if there is a slow transition. Good example is on the chrome Google startup. Where you input where you want to go the backround is grey. It goes high brightness to slow dimness. While my other monitors stay the same. This happens with local dimming on the m28u on old and new firmware. So if thats important to you it may be annoying. I will show that dimness so you can see and compare. But besides that it super bright and does everything I need it too.
I hear that Gigabyte have the best color accuracy in out-of-factory settings vs. their competition that usually needs to be calibrated further after purchase.
hi, just wanted to say great video! But also would you be able to make a video or leave a comment to what the settings are for both the LG and Samsung. I'm currently owning both so would want them to look as similar as possible.
Sure friend... on the G7 local dimming on. Custom setting, Black Equalizer of 11-13, brightness 100, Sharpness 60. LG gamer1, brightness 100 everything default. Remove any energy settings. The main thing here is local dimming and black equalizer helping make the G7 amazing... remember you can add a little bit of magic in the Nvidia control panel to the LG. (+47 brightness, +55/+60 contrast and + 55 d. Vibrance) but that's if you think you need...
I can't stand smearing in VA screens, tested 3 different monitors and they all were bad in my opinion. I'll take worse contrast and black being grey over that any day
Man I really want to keep my G7 but flicker is introduced with VRR OFF . . Turn it ON and you get micro stutters instead of flickering . . it's a price you get for those amazing colors/contrast. People say it depends on your unit yet I've tried at least 8 different ones and they all acted the exact same. It's sad because there is nothing better than the G7 at the moment despite these issues
Sorry friend. Wow 8 units... for sure return that. I have got comments about microbstutters but have not seen any with it On. I play Civ 5 and on that I scroll alot and don't see anything among other games. It all has to do with implementation of the panel and software/hardware. See hardware unboxed on some VA monitors to see how it compares to the G7. Thats the best place I see having alot to see from..
If you're playing on PS5 or Series X, the screen tearing is always gonna happen when u have the low input lag setting on unfortunately. They haven't patched it on any of the updates, seems to be a console specific problem. If you're on PC the monitor us perfect with no issues.
Before i change tn panel for ips my tn was looking good i mean just angke yellow but when you look in center of the monitor looking good gsmr modes were vivid my ips is not like tn not that vivid idk why
Although I understand you mainly focus your video on black levels, a VA panel is not by all means a panel for competitive players nor for fast pace games even for non competitive players. For media consumption is better though, at least if you seat immediately in front of the screen, but even then, it has it's own compromises with poor viewing angles.
please tell me, let's suppose a 1080p game on a ps4 slim, we test the same game on a 4k tv and a 4k pc monitor, is it true that on the monitor it would look blurry but on tv it will be sharp almost as native resolution because tvs has upscaling processor but monitors don't ? or it would look the same! i want a monitor, 32" is perfect for me, but i would get a tv if the 1080p would look better upscaled on it.
I got the lg ups panel ues thers bloom on a null screen but when in games or windows that disappears and settings help as well. The lg is a 350 dollar panel running toe to toe with an 800 dollar panel what does that tell you? Contrast aside ips is a geeat pnel better than the 30 inch 13 ur old replacement.
Wahetever you do, never buy VA… IF, you’re a fast paced shooter gamer of course. I recently switched from TN to VA and ghosting is terrible. Switching back to TN asap
Coming from an IPS panel when i thought i was blind because i can't see enemies on darker rooms when all i need is a VA monitor? I currently have EX2510s from benq, don't get me wrong i loved it but since I'm moving country I'm in search for a new monitor i learned that benq also have a good va monitor which is EX2710R but it is so hard to find it outside taiwan which is a shame. Then there's odyssey which is a little too much for my budget, so finally i decided to go with dell s2722dgm. I'm really excited to have it when i finally move, I don't really care about smearing or anything since I'm just a casual gamer and not in a top 1%. Thanks for the comparison! This video made me sure I want a VA panel :) Ps. Other reviewer talking about viewing angle on VA panel vs ips is kind of stupid, of course the viewing angle is different on two panel and since having a va monitor means you will be sitting in front of it. It doesn't need that kind of comparison. It's not like you will be stupid enough to use a VA panel looking from the side.
Sorry for my english im from slovakia :D I will buy G7 monitor. But i have a question. Is this monitor good for a horror gaming or dark scenes in the games? Or i have to buy another? Thanks for the answers :D
Yes friend. I will start the summer of Gaming on my channel with all my Monitors and I will show more dark room Horror games. The VA panel is great! The G7 has high contrast...
Hi bud, I'm at the decision point looking at 32" x 3 as my choice from the answers I've received on my previous query, but another obstacle has come up when I actually started looking for monitors.... where i live 32" 144hz IPS is just crazy expensive.... So i have 2 Options for my Triple Screen Sim Racing setup..... 32" 1440p 75hz IPS vs 32" 1440p 144z VA (both options above are priced very close) Is the Black Smearing & Viewing Angles of VA panels a problem/issue for Sim Racing? Should i go with 75hz IPS or 144hz VA....? Thanks (5600x/3080fe)
What models are you looking at. I'm just saying many love the Aorus FV43U 4k144hz for racing Sims. They are 650 price range. But depending on your budget the lower end VA Monitors will cause more smear vs more mid their versions. Also ips you say is limited to 75hz? I would think you want more than that to future proof yourself if you get a new gpu...
My C32HG70 recently developed some black bar issues and i'm looking for a new monitor, i take it the G7 is pretty strong in it's price range? How is the HDR compared to the others?
The LG GP is brighter and nicer in Ambient lighting. While the G7 having nice HDR but it dies not get that bright like the LG. I will try to make a true hdr video. But I would not expect much on these panels with the hdr600. Hdr1000 is miles better according vs say the aorus fv43u.
I'm sick of this lying about how good VA is. I had IPS, 2 VA from Samsung and returned VA. VA has a lot of problems because of its technology, and it happens in all of them: 1.VA processor can't decide which frame should be displayed which causes tearing of the image, 3:43 play slow motion 0.25 and look at the car's spoiler, the car's door in VA and IPS. On VA we always see 2x spoiler edges, doors. So what if I have a fast response time and 160Hz in VA as the processor when playing in FPS will I see 2x blur edges when reloading. That's what I had with the LCD 30ms from 2002!!!. Check 3:39 the buldings on the right side - edges of them, on VA always u see 2x of them no matter what VA mark you get. You see this now on youtube 60fps, recorde by camera, waching on your TV, think what you will see in real life. 2. Pixel adhesion technology in VA, - With 27 'fulhd VA, you can see the pixels terribly, and the text is not sharp when in IPS it still looks normal. At 32 "1440p IPS looks wonderful and VA- people complains that it must be a minimum of 4k. No no! for IPS its Okey, its VA 32 1440p problem that looks like its to low pixels and needs 4k. 3. The colors of the VA are cold, the white is snow-cold, the reds are blood cherry red, and the metallic colors of the weapons are slightly green. The colors are washed out. The only plus of VA is only the contrast. I am annoyed with praising VA because on the paperboard its great, when you put IPS vs VA next to each other and no reviewer will admit that the image in VA is torn (check point 1.) when you buy 144hz 1ms to not have it, and get smooth play.
I like my va monitor to watch movies on it. Contrast and dark looks awesome. I tried to game on it and its just a mess. Black smearing everywhere and blurring they are good for console or something slow and cinematic. Sure the ips may have the glow issue but thats about it. The contrast and 'washed' colors are not really an issue and nowhere near a tn panel so dunno where this is coming from. Also people confuse oversaturation with image quality lol. Wich is what va panels usually do in order to show off their amazing contrast. But just look outside where exactly do u see such drastic changes in contrast in real world? There is a reason why professional photo editors and graphic designers use exclusively ips panels. For gaming budget to mid tier 144hz ips is okay. Budget to mid 144hz tn is okay. Budget to mid 144hz va is unusable in games due to black smearing everywhere. U have to go all the way to get the absolute best of the best va for gaming with the odysey g7 to get a nice looking va thats usable in gaming. Thats just not feasible
El monitor odissey g7 tiene panel oled, en la pagina oficial de samsung viene que toda la linea g7 tienen paneles oled, no existen g7 con panel va, esta mal la informacion de tu video !!!.
While I don't have the GN650 I have had some friends get that monitor. They were happy with it for the price. The GP850 will give you a brighter no smear display. It would be worth it. Plus the GP850 does allow a 4k60hz signal for consoles..
I have one and I like it. Looks great in 1440 on my series x. Kind of sucks that i can't get vvr on it with ps5 but no big deal to me, games still run great.
Yes friend... the 32GQ950 is a super Sized IPS nano. 27GP950 to 32GQ950 at 899 is a very good upgrade. From a 32G9850 to GQ950 the increase in premium quality in seen. Plus with added features. But again it is a 32" LG Nano screen with 32 zones. So not OLED or Mini LED... so many monitors out now its good to keep all that on your mind. I'm happy with my GQ.. I just recieved the GQ850 at 599 to Vs soon.
I have tested both, but for me IPS has better display, better contrast and colors. For me, VA is useless. Use LG IPS Display for for work and gaming. Only problem: I can't find a Ultrawide IPS Monitor with 144hz.
IPS objectively has much worse contrast and colors are only "better" due to better viewing angles, which one is better overall is a matter of opinion, but what you said is just wrong
You dont have the basic knowledge about lcd panel technologies. LG IPS panels have the worst contrast in the market. They are outright pathetic. about 700/1 on their top end gp850. And you dare say ips has better contrast. Both ips and va panels have their pros and cons, none is better than the other all around. It all comes to personal choices
@@TheEnzoferrari12345 I would say it is all personal preference. As maybe you need picture depth VA or viewing angles IPS among other pros per panel type. I do love the LG Nano saturation that not even a VA panel can give me.. Again personal preference . But the good thing is we all have a choice on what we prefer or need per room type
Try custom preset. Black equalizer of 11 or 12 or 13. Gamma mode2. Color 60... but you can adjust if it's too red or blue. Lower each one number at a time. If you don't like it just reset Color to fo back to default again. Look at your favorite picture that you know of to compare. My g7 has a red push so I just lowered red a small bit and added blue a bit to even out . That's my issue tho you may have a less of a Color push.
So you showed up all the advantages of the VA and the weakness of the IPS, but where did you showed the big problems of the VA? Where is a black screen and white text scrolling? Where is a starfield dimming or disappearing while moving the view around? This is product placement, not a review!
The black screen with white text i have never had an issue in gaming, also the starfield test stars dissapearing is better then a grey ips image. I would prefer 3d depth of va over a 2d look of ips in dark scenes. Even with va shortcomings.
VA is awful. I have Asus VG32VQR and i admit colors looks good ( only in cinema mode btw ) , black smear is extremely annoying. If one uses overshoot ( TraceFree ) to get rid of that, it adds inverse ghosting at a crazy rate. Imo everyone should stick with IPS until they can afford an OLED.
Both are great but I find my ex2510 low in brightness vs the G7. And my ex2510 is brighter than the ex2710.... see reviews on both ex sizes. I believe ( tech yes city) has a review on both sizes
I went with the VA panel because I can’t stand dark colors being more of a dark gray. Would rather have a true black color for gaming
yeah black smearing will be the issue
@@rekusamare2219 yea but it isnt as big as a problem that ppl say it is
@@rekusamare2219 It's a great tread off for countering an abysmal contrast ratio..

in movies VA is very strong, even in games i played elden ring on my viewsonic vx2718 va panel in dark scenes VA Is just so much better.
can't really justify spending 250+ more euros on the g7 instead of the lg27gp850 just to notice a difference when playing dark looking games in a dark room honestly
400 bucks vs 320 bucks in austria, both 27
Meanwhile, I just got the LG and I'm trying to bring down the color saturation a little bit because it has that hyper real look. The thing about highly saturated color is it's like a sweet drink, it's not necessarily better, but the sweetness will make you think it's better in a direct comparison.

Thank you for this video! I'm in the market for a 4K 32" monitor and had just about decided on an IPS monitor due to it's cheaper price.
I would go IPS over VA because i mostly play games with some lights turned on in my room so the "low" contrast ratio of ips doesnt really matter

nah i can't find any samsung 144hz 1080p 24'' that is IPS, its all VA.
Спасибо за видео. На стоп кадрах видно как VA искажает объекты сильнее IPS.
I just bought an IPS and the 'glow' was staggering I had no idea about the bad black levels. I'm returning it immediately.
im going to buy the LG UltraGear 32GP850-B on black friday 2024
already looking forward to it and can´t wait,..
i totally recommend the g7 i just got mine yesterday and its just perfect just get it and dont think twice about a monitor this perfect
The problem is, when you want a curved monitor its always VA panel. I dont know why they did that but its really rare to find a curved ips panel monitor.
Probably due to ips glow
LG 49WL95C-WE has IPS ultrawide curved. Only problem is, ultrawide IPS has only 60hz. But for me no reason.
Would be interesting to see a similar video of LG 27GP950-B vs Samsung Odyssey G70A.
Yes friend. I am getting it ready.. thx... Happy New Year... stay safe..
@@sdmvx you have a point
My old viewsonic vx1932 wm led TFT panel has great contrast compared to ISP tv for example, wonder why this tech is abandoned...
An easier way to think about it is in a dark room on a VA monitor, blacks look black. On an IPS monitor in a dark room, blacks look grey.
I prefer a VA panel myself...
IPS technology is simply inferior when it comes to contrast.
I also love VA. It's that 3deeish look that I like seeing in dark Room Gaming.. its easier on the eyes.
Bro that’s why you’re the only person on UA-cam that I’m a member of their channel because you breakdown everything & you’re not or sound like a paid reviewer 💪🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Thx brother... Have an Amazing New Year and Stay Safe. I'll be watching the Twilight Zone marathon on SYFY... I'm lame I know... 🤣
Yea more than other brands. The G7 lineup really is a panel lottery...
That’s a different model entirely
@@DisplayReality Should we expect the same odds in the G5 series?
when it comes to Oled LG beats Samsung any day
about quality: I have more than 10-15 years old LG Flatron 19" 4:3 monitor, still operating.
Think I'll keep to buying an IPS panel over VA.Even with the inferior contrast,it doesn't look that bad,and I play in a not too bright not too dark room, and I've never had problems with picture quality and contrast.
STill I'd love to try a VA some day,it looks pretty good, even if the dark level smearing is off putting-
The new Neo G7/8 would be great for that contrast for sure. But no smear is really good to see on IPS panels. Especially like the LG 32GQ950...
@@DisplayReality Hello, so this LG 32GQ950 monitor is not worth it?
I would actually argue against the whole dark room/lit room argument. Even in a well lit room, the ips still looks washed out compared to VA. It's not just the blacks that look better on the VA, it's every color on the spectrum cause it can actually produce a wide gamut. VA just does a better job making adjacent colors stand out more plus the darker blacks in conjunction with each other.
the IPS glow drives me nuts
@@PopescuSorin I dont know how people can deal with ips glow
@@papertoad456 I have a VA and IPS and as much as I love VA contrast and hate IPS glow. I can't stand the blur and smearing more than the glow
what about scrolling text with dark background you forgot compare some weakness of va ghosting, motion blur flickering etc, also angle vision
i used to believe when people say IPS is better due to black smearing issue.
Va just looks better with dark rooms and colors. Team VA.
@@DisplayReality Happy New Year, and I agree. The VA tech should be researched and developed more in the monitor line up.
@@DisplayReality The G7 is literally faster than any IPS monitor though
that godawful ips glow tho
I have the option of a curved ims 24 1080 va panel, or a 24 flat 1080 ips panel, both 144 hz. I really appreciate the better darks, but i read that "there are many bad VA panel monitors, while ips are mostly good" I get it Odyssey g7 1440 are one of these good va monitors, but I don't have the money for it right now. I just want to know if in my budget I should get the ips one knowing the VA is probably one of the worst in his kind. This comments makes me more certain about this, but I would like a confirmation.
i was loooking into buying a gaming monitor, and was sceptical of VA panels, but seeing how much better it is in low light scenarious i made my choice
The G6 is even brighter and has more zones... get that one if you ca. it even has smart features.
If you can afford samsung high end VA go with it, if not IPS gives better motion
youre the best monitor channel ive seen thank you for all the help u give!!!
Thank you friend... Happy New year!! Stay safe...
I have a C24g1 and 24g2u(the original one with great contrast) from AOC, and I always go back and forth between which one I run as my primary, IPS has clearer motion, but the VA is so much nicer for single player games
Response times and brightness, is AOC VA good at it compared to ISP version?

Black smearing on VA panel is a no go for me.
with the G7 at 400€ and the LG at 460€, which do you recommend? I've heard that the G7 suffers from panel ungluing, something i'd hate to happen to me...
I recommend the G7 or G6 as those prices are low also. My Neo G7 unstuck as glue was not enough in a certain area. Quality control friend is a real thing. Tho I hope whichever you decide on getting is perfect..
So what do you recommend im going with the budget options available not specific on brands but should i go for IPS or VA i feel like va will give me richer colors cause of the contrast but the ips looks like it has a natural saturation
Hey mate, thanks for the informative video, did you have any smearing during testing the g7?
I have been using VA panel for years, and since my current monitor had some vertical lines errors and I need to send it in for RMA, I had to buy another monitor fast and went with Samsung Odyssey G50A and the IPS panel is horrible. There is so much vignette that the monitor feels like it is bending outwards!
Would you do a side by side G7 4K 144 HZ 28 INCH IPS Panel VS G7 240 HZ 27 INCH VA Panel
I can do another one sure... pls see my G70A vs G7 video in the mean time.. Ill show more demos and videos...
IPS all my life.
ips has richer colors but va has better contrast but the va looked slightly warmer throughout the video
Yes that’s what he said throughout the video
In my opinion monitor Va are great except for viewing angles but ips with local dimming should be close.
@@DisplayReality Thank, man!

AOC Gaming Q27G3XMN or Gigabyte M27Q X???, is VA versus IPS
Honestly who plays in the dark? I always turn on my table lamp
Then what are the cons of VA over IPS for gaming?
week 2 of using it. Im used to the smearing and it's not that bad.
Where it shines is in anime games.
Dang the VA is popping off colors ive never seen before.
Specially in 2d fighting games like Blazblue or just watching anime in general.
Do you recommend going with VA panel with odyessy g7 or ips panel? What are your thoughts about it mate
Which monitor should i pick
Acer ED320QR or Acer vg270?
If this was true the G5 wouldn't be so inferior
@@justdev8965 That simply makes no sense. How colors look is due to Backlight and coating, has nothing to do with panel type unless you are viewing a VA off angle. VA is also not necessarily dimmer than IPS, that too is dependent on backlight. Your phone probably has a Glossy coating, which makes It look better. Besides, phones come calibrated for very wide color gamuts, so they show oversaturated colors
@@justdev8965 that's just incorrect colors on va are on par with ips, the only problem they have is ghosting
its not minor smearing its huge
The bandwidth on the gigabyte m32u hdmi 2.1 is 24gbps jus so you know….
Vibrance) but that's if you think you need...
very nice bro, that lg monitor can handle 180hz and 2k resolution with 10bit color?
I can't stand smearing in VA screens, tested 3 different monitors and they all were bad in my opinion. I'll take worse contrast and black being grey over that any day
Soo since I basically always game in a dark room and do want my games to look really good I should go with the g7? Am I right?
It would look nicer. As seen here with the capcom section. VA is deeper. More contrast
It's a damn shame LG did't improve the contrast a little bit
would g5 model panel be better than the IPS showed here?
No the older G5 Odyssey? That has alot of va smear. The LG would be best. Now newer G5s like the G50A/G52A IPS monitors... thos are very good.
That's crazy got mine a few days ago and no issues with my 3080
rly? i dont have any flicker with or without VRR :-O maybe you got the old flickering version from 2020? try to update firmware.
There's a firmware update that fixes it.
If you're playing on PS5 or Series X, the screen tearing is always gonna happen when u have the low input lag setting on unfortunately. They haven't patched it on any of the updates, seems to be a console specific problem. If you're on PC the monitor us perfect with no issues.
Before i change tn panel for ips my tn was looking good i mean just angke yellow but when you look in center of the monitor looking good gsmr modes were vivid my ips is not like tn not that vivid idk why
i have the 27 inch version of the lg...can you share your settings for gaming?
a really comprehensive video. fantastic work.
Although I understand you mainly focus your video on black levels, a VA panel is not by all means a panel for competitive players nor for fast pace games even for non competitive players.
For media consumption is better though, at least if you seat immediately in front of the screen, but even then, it has it's own compromises with poor viewing angles.
mind blowing video 10/10
please tell me, let's suppose a 1080p game on a ps4 slim, we test the same game on a 4k tv and a 4k pc monitor, is it true that on the monitor it would look blurry but on tv it will be sharp almost as native resolution because tvs has upscaling processor but monitors don't ? or it would look the same!
i want a monitor, 32" is perfect for me, but i would get a tv if the 1080p would look better upscaled on it.
So iI bought a 27GP850 and the glow is killing me... would you say the VA is easier on the eyes?
The picture is deeper on VA. The quality is better I would say. I have no flashlighting on my G7.
Wahetever you do, never buy VA… IF, you’re a fast paced shooter gamer of course. I recently switched from TN to VA and ghosting is terrible. Switching back to TN asap
How to know if a va panel is good or not?
This video made me sure I want a VA panel :)
Ps.
You are putting a 700$ g7 up against a 300$ lg though.But you made valid points.Jus saying.
The 32GP850 was $450-$500 when released.

Hi bud,
I'm at the decision point looking at 32" x 3 as my choice from the answers I've received on my previous query, but another obstacle has come up when I actually started looking for monitors....
where i live 32" 144hz IPS is just crazy expensive....
So i have 2 Options for my Triple Screen Sim Racing setup.....
32" 1440p 75hz IPS vs 32" 1440p 144z VA
(both options above are priced very close)
Is the Black Smearing & Viewing Angles of VA panels a problem/issue for Sim Racing?
Should i go with 75hz IPS or 144hz VA....?
Thanks
(5600x/3080fe)
What models are you looking at. I'm just saying many love the Aorus FV43U 4k144hz for racing Sims. They are 650 price range. But depending on your budget the lower end VA Monitors will cause more smear vs more mid their versions. Also ips you say is limited to 75hz? I would think you want more than that to future proof yourself if you get a new gpu...
Good video Va panel all day
My C32HG70 recently developed some black bar issues and i'm looking for a new monitor, i take it the G7 is pretty strong in it's price range? How is the HDR compared to the others?
The LG GP is brighter and nicer in Ambient lighting. While the G7 having nice HDR but it dies not get that bright like the LG. I will try to make a true hdr video. But I would not expect much on these panels with the hdr600. Hdr1000 is miles better according vs say the aorus fv43u.
I'm sick of this lying about how good VA is. I had IPS, 2 VA from Samsung and returned VA. VA has a lot of problems because of its technology, and it happens in all of them:
1.VA processor can't decide which frame should be displayed which causes tearing of the image, 3:43 play slow motion 0.25 and look at the car's spoiler, the car's door in VA and IPS.
I game on my VA monitor and it looks great for what it is especially for what I paid for. Both panels have pros and cons
@Wichura: I agree with you in 100%. Thanks for hard work, which brought some truth.
I have VA monotor now . i dont have black/bleed and black/bleed looks disgusting.

Do you think the LG 32GP950-b is a good deal at $900 and a good monitor overall?

Hello, I bought a Samsung G7 screen but didn't like the factory colors, can you help me?
Odyssey G7 really beat LG out of this view
Which one looks better while gaming ?
I would say the Odyssey G7 for that added depth to the picture of this great VA panel.
¿G7 vs benq ex2710r? I can get the Benq for 100 euros less. Thanks
Both are great but I find my ex2510 low in brightness vs the G7. And my ex2510 is brighter than the ex2710.... see reviews on both ex sizes. I believe ( tech yes city) has a review on both sizes
People who care about color accuracy and viewing angles choose IPS.
People who care about high contrast choose VA.
