Looks like a great solution to my problem. Will check out how this works and may report back later.

Yours is a brilliant solution to the ankle-pain problem! I've done something similar with gel discs. I layered them so they're thicker under my enlarged left ankle, and thinner over the top of it. I augmented it with slight heat-molding of the boot shell. That solves most of the problem for me, but when I'm out for a long skate, I bring along a few other forms of thin padding to add if needed. I have two pairs of inlines I use most consistently, and each pair has a slightly different padding setup. Also, during rest stops, I unbuckle the cuff and the 45-degree straps of the boot to give my ankle a rest.

My ankles are in extreme pain on both feet on the inside just like you. I'll try this, thanks !

For awhile, I used EZ fits but it was still too tight at my right ankle bone. So I also cut a hole at the ankle bone in my EZ fit and that helped to eliminate some of the discomfort. But in the end, EdgeTek drilled out some of the padding and carbon framing at the ankle and glued mole skin over the drillout hole. That still didn’t really relieve the pain. So eventually, I took a drill bit and drilled a hole straight through the carbon padding and carbon case (hole is hardly noticeable on the outside of the boot) and enlarged the hole just a bit at a time until finally, no more pain!
I used the same process too relieve pressure and discomfort in my inside arches by drilling a few small holes until the pain/discomfort was eliminated. I covered up the drilled out padding and holes with black super duck tape for a smoother inner surface. Problem solved at last!

This is interesting. So (just to be clear), you had some inline skates with a hard boot, and drilled a hole in the boot and liner over where the ankle bone (malleolus) sits? I have a pair of Rollerblade Twister Edge, and am considering doing the same. The Twister Edge's liner is pretty thin, so I'm thinking a having a hole in the boot but not the liner, so the liner can protect from the hole's edges rubbing on my skin.

Also, has this solution worked out really well?

Trevor Jennings yes. It has worked out well with no problems. :-) I also covered the hole on the inside with black electric tape.

Thanks for this video! After a bunch of injuries and a surgery to my right ankle, my right medial malleolus is for some reason larger than my left. Large enough I also struggle to wear a hard boot while skating.

Yeah I just got my skates and skated for 4 hours, 2 days in a row and had this issue. It’s annoying af.

Tried this and it made it worse. Sooo im thinking of cutting a hole in the skate boot. I do Aggressive Inline Skating and have been for 15 years. I've ran into this issue a few times. Im currently going through it AGAIN! fricken sucks. Gets to painful that i just cant skate. Then again my liners are 13 years old along with every other part of my skate lol they are beat to hell so im going to upgrade them finally.

No warranties on an upgrade... I got my new USD Aeon 80 yesterday and the pain is unbearable... I just can't use them...

@@chblancoj I retired my Razor G7s I've been skating 14yrs lol. It was those skates in general that gave me that issue. I got me a pair of USD Montre Sways and they are by far much nicer and havnt had that issue yet. Took a few weeks to recover that ankle though.

@@LetsTestDrive I asked for help at USD and this is all I got:
      “Sorry for the late answer.
Did you located where the pain is from?
      The cuff, the shell?
The new Aeon cuffs definitely help with that issue.
      Thanks
      USD”
I explained the pain and they never responded again.
I had to buy a heat gun and pushed the plastic at the pain point away from the ankle. I had to do it three times to improve it. It finally worked. It is not perfect by any means, but I can at least use them.
The only recommendation I can give you is to heatmold them, no internal padding really helped. Good luck!
