Honestly this is a big help, yours is the only shop that sells the whole strap setup, not just the buckle or the little plastic strap.
My buckle is standard but riveted onto the strap and I broke it like week 2 of owning it.
This and the bearing videos have been such big helps to actually maintaining my skates and not spending unnecessary cash.

I have a pair of FR skates and I had no idea that if I just press on side it will release one notch of the strap. Thanks for that!

So glad for your video. I am a beginner and just received my NEXT skates and was trying to figure out how to work the ankle buckle to open it. I like that you say it can be removed because I think I will remove it and just tighten my laces.

I managed to break my right ankle buckle in 4 days of heavy use. Im so happy I finally found an explanation for the ankle buckles as I genuinely had no idea what to do. I’m an urban skater and my blades all but require an ankle buckle because they have a plastic shell that’s way to stiff to tighten all the way (even with nice laces) and they are sitting on 3x110 wheels. I’m going to get a set of spider buckles and a Velcro set to see what works, i honestly have no idea if 4 days is normal for a buckle to last as I have only just returned to rollerblading when I got a new pair. I’m hoping the spider ones here last at least a couple of weeks. I love urban skating and being able to move as fast as a biker without all the risks of leaving a bike somewhere when shopping or going to work so I’m really hoping these ones can last

I also use a Powerslide Next and removed my buckle because i found out after a 20 minute session my feet would blister up and had a perfect circle from where the hole and bolt of the buckle were. I emailed Powerslide about this and wanted to see if there was a recall on these skates because of this issue. The reason i thought it would be a recall is because i skated other brands and did not have this issue. I thought taking off the buckle would hinder the riding experience but it did not and i just used the waxed laces to tighten everything up. Hope this helps anyone out there. Peace to all

Thanks for this sharing that really help me because I just bought a pair of FR Skates Spin 310 and after only 3 uses, one of the ankle buckle is already damaged ! :O I contacted the company to complain and I hope they will send me a brand new buckle but I am sure that it won't be better than the original ones... So I would like to upgrade this part so I am going to watch this video again and go to your website to see what I can choose 👍

The solution to open tight 45 degree buckles is to push in the strap in before pushing the button. It makes it not only really easy but also you avoid harming the strap teeth.

Was only just looking on site for carbon style velcro straps. Have you got any like that? Preferably fila brand for the look.

Thanks for this video. Just getting back into skating and I saved a lot of money buying oxelos. The reviews were good and they are ok but need some help with bearings and buckles. I think my favorite skates used the fila system of two cuff straps/buckles. Might try that.

Very informative. It seems to me there would be major advantages to having three buckles rather than laces, like ski boots (which I guess is why technica tried it). Why did this go away?

I know….I loved my 3-buckle skates. They were so much easier to get into and out of and the buckles, themselves, were more durable than current buckles that strip so easily. And they would keep the memory of your size so you didn’t have to tighten them every single time, because they were already tightened to your exact size and you just had to click them into place. There was no struggling with laces and no buckles that are either hard to get into or out of. I am mystified by why that system was abandoned.

Like he said in the video I have the next boot and if you get really good laces they will tighten so well that the ankle strap does nothing. But if you takeoff the laces and just use the straps it just doesn’t feel as good.
Call cell? Sometimes your memory fails you because you haven’t compared your old skates side-by-side with new skates. I was thinking the same thing about my old easy on easy off skates then I tried them on and they feel like golf carts compared to my new skates are a BMW

Can you please suggest a wrench for the flat nut that has a notch? You screw in the ankle strap bolt in it on the Seba CJ boot. I used lock tight and now both the bolt and the nut spin and i can't hold the nut immobile to unscrew the bolt

On my FR1 ankle buckle strap is just too short. I can barely manage to close it.

Is it a double strap that you can flip the spacers from? Maybe you can extend the length, otherwise youd need to buy longer ones or just take them off entirely.

Ive gotten the Roces M12 and they are killing my shins/lower front ancle. Is there a way to put an ancle buckle on? Also I would like to put big wheels on but don't know the biggest I could go?
    Thanks

Don't know what part exactly you mean, or why... But sounds more like a better liner would maybe help 🤔 ankle strap would only help if your foot is moving but then maybe the skates are to big for you...
There are UFS frames up to 125mm 😅
But most agressive boots are not supportive enough to be much fun with more than 90s... Depends on what you want the big wheels for...

It would not be impossible to mount a buckle on skates like that.. Not saying it will get good results skating them.

Ankle buckle are not for everyone. They are restrictive for me as I have high volume feet and strong ankles supported by large calf muscles. Even worse for me is the 45 degrees straps. My foot can't function naturally when strapped down! My skates are all with no buckles and only laces!

laces are so annoying. I don't see the need of laces. I prefer backles so much more. 2 seconds- done!
