ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED Review

- The Asus Zenbook Pro 16X OLED is a creator’s laptop that gamers will love. It has a 3.2K 120Hz OLED display (a feature missing from most 2023 gaming laptops) and an Intel Core i9 with NVIDIA RTX 4080 graphics.. Unlike some mobile workstations and creator machines for creatives, this one has looks worthy of the price tag with a slim CNC 6000 series aluminum body, and per key RGB keyboard (that does the Asus elevation thing for cooling). Thunderbolt 4, vapor chamber cooling with Liquid Metal and a full size SD card slot are standard. The display supports touch and the included Asus Pen 2.0.

Awesome review as usual. Wondering if you thought of recording the fan noise level for demonstrating how loud it is? Thanks so much.
OMG Lisa!!!! I love your new look. You are rocking the short look. You look lovely. I really enjoy your content. Keep it up!
Great review! Looks like a heck of machine
I like your new haircut!!!! Haven’t watched your channel for a while and was surprised by the new look😊
Thank you for posting.
i have not visited this channel in a while now but when i saw ur new hairdo, i had to! nice!
Hi Lisa, as an artist I'm wondering if the XP Pen Magic Drawing Pad is on your radar?
I'd love a trusted review whenever it comes out!
*_i hope you have a fantastic day to come💝🎉😘_*
Great review!
I was hoping this would come into Malaysia but its been nearly a year since their reveal. I guess its time to look inti the new stuff CES announced.
I really liked the 16X's design though. Reminds me of their old Zephyrus S17 with the similar raised keyboard (Which also didn't come to Malaysia).
it is available in PC Image!
@prettysakurachan I just checked. It isn't the same model. Malaysia did not receive the 13th gen with RTX4080 model. We have the old 12th gen 3060 model only. All the store in Malaysia only has that.
Plus, already got something else xd
Can't wait any more.
@@brewbearz1136 oh I see, my bad. What did you get instead if you don't mind me asking?
@@prettysakurachan I opted for the 2024 Asus G16 with Core Ultra 9/ RTX4080/ 32GB RAM
The build quality of this is solid, battery life sufficient for me, great performance for how thin it is (of course, not the highest it possibly can be for the specs) with acceptable level of noise. I'd say this one fits me quite well.
@@brewbearz1136 oh wow! Thanks for the info, it sounds great. I'll check it out as well 😄 cheers!
Nice new haircut!
Detailed as always
5:45 - That dialpad can give you fingertip control of creative parameters in Adobe allowing for precise quick and easy adjustments.
agree
Exactly. I have a Bluetooth dial specifically for that. Nice to see it integrated into the laptop itself.
Love the T-Shirt
I have the previous iterstion with the 3060 GPU and it's pretty sick
Got one of these a few months back. After trying several major gaming and creative PCs, this definitely runs the coolest and quietest. The build quality is amazing and the hinges are greatly improved from the 12th gen model. The RGB keyboard is great to type on, and the haptic trackpad is awesome as well. The only complaint is the visible OLED "screen door effect" on light backgrounds at close range due to the touchscreen matrix. It is interesting that Asus waited so long to release these and only gave them to reviewers in recent months. Will they reuse the same chassis with Core Ultra chips in 2024 or will they be entirely redesigned? The 2024 G16 OLED is bridging the gap between gaming and creator laptops as well.
Very thoughtful and helpful comments thx
What's the battery life like for you doing light tasks?
Just got one of these and it's great. I've tested a few top end laptops and they've all had problems but this one is generally fine. One issue though when you use the MUX switch it somehow resets the fingerprint, PIN and eye scanner for sign in. Display could do with being a bit brighter but that's one of the downsides of OLED I suppose.
I could see that dial next to the trackpad being useful if you could that for timeline scrolling in video editing software, but no clue if that's possible or not.
ProArt series with the dial is customizable based on program so timeline scrubbing and other abilities are possible. I assume it would be the same here. Seems like she didn't fully test this laptop before reviewing
No software I could find to change the function of the Dial on this model. @@ShoeGod
The new hairstyle looks dope.
Almost certainly going to take a shot at one of these if i can find it with a 4080
Looking forward to your review of the Asus ZenBook Duo 2024
Great review
I mean? She called 32gb of ram on a creator laptop amazing. Not even a 64 gb option available. Limited ports, no micro sd slot.
It has a full size SD card slot, you're not pleased by the lack of a microSD card slot?? @@TheTastefulThickness
OMG I love your new haircut!
I have OLED Vivobook and it's great for watch movies and light gaming. 👍
Shares a lot of design with the studio book 16
I always lookif you ahve any reviews before buying anything
So today I bought this laptop, largely based on your review.
I was thinking Asus Pro Art but I hate the knob on that.
As you say, the dial on this may not be of use but at least it's not a 'knob' which will get broken and be a dust trap.
I have watched hours of laptop reviews but watching this one again (for the fourth time) sold it.
Thank You, I think you are fabulous in your reviews.
I can't wait to get my hands on it. Content creator and maybe a little bit of GTA.
I went for the rtx4080 version for the dual encoding.
Thank You, Love you so much.
Watchu think about it? (Specifically battery life and power)
@@realsmiley9997 I haven't used it soley on battery so I can't say yet. Power, it's a beast. The rtx 4080 zips through my exports in a flash. It is heavy, but thats ok, it lives on my desk but will be going around the world with me later this year. The sound quality is incredible. Editing in davinci resolve is amazing, the keyboard is really nice. My only real bug is the track pad, using a mouse I like to turn off the trackpad as it is easy to touch duriing edits, but turning off the trackpad also turns off the ability to use the numberpad, which is annoying. The keyboard is a delight to type on.
only one nvme ssd slot? i don't see any other slot for an m.2 ssd.
OMG your hair is SOO COOL!!!
display touch/PEN - without gorilla glass ?
The wheel is for editing, I have this laptop and I use the wheel when I need to jog audio or video.
Dear Lisa, 11 years ago you did video about Nokia Lumia 822. I have it and use it for connection with other country. But I need now to change this phone Nokia to another phone and new phone asks me pin code when I put sim card from Nokia to it. How to find pin code on Nokia, may be you know or remember. Thank you very much.
Screen Glossy or Matte?
Does it come with 64GB DDR5 on board? 32GB is not enough for pro use, in many cases.
32Gb is mainstream these days. Even simple users hit that 32gb limit. Especially because the IGPU share the RAM as it's vram. If you run two 4k screens at 120hz, then you'll notice that you consume 8GB of RAM as NVRAM, and thats without any apps running apart from the OS. At 16gb you constantly hit the ram in such configuration. 64gb is necessary if you want to run local LLM's (AI such as LLama 3,etc..) Ai requires RAM. 64gb will be mainstream by next year, only because of AI requirements. 32Gb will hit the limits of your AI features.. In my opinion if you sell a laptop with soldered ram , then you MUST ensure models with much RAM, otherwise it won't sell.
Hello Lisa, check out ASUS Vivobook with same specs. Only its RTX 4060, I think. Price in $1700s
I'll be more interested in the meteor lake version of the vivobook.
Nice hair Lisa!
I had the Vivobook Pro 16 OLED and had to return it because it would randomly shut down under load...tried a second one and it did the same thing, so i am suspicious of these Zenbooks too. I traded it for an MSI Raider that performs better with a 4070 than this 4080 but i sure do miss the OLED screen!
WoW that sucks! I wonder if these reviewers even gave it some serious load for a few hours? recompressing a video and still trying to multi task will do it.
Yeah that is a very Star Trek inspired delta on the laptop... or Space Force lol
Hey Lisa, i love what you've done with your hair❤
Love the new hair style! Great review as usual too. 🙏🏽
Beam me up Scotty!
It's a beautiful laptop, I have one. However, my Time Spy Score on an RTX4080 is 18000!
WOW, finally some 4080 laptops. I keep mine connected to a monitor 75% of the time so the performance will be great on a 1440p OLED monitor
Yeah my Scar 16 with a 4080 had pretty much replaced my desktop with a 3070. I take to class everyday and I often travel, so I am really lazy to use my desktop and have to sync up everything. I do not feel like I am missing out on any sort of performance.
I remember you made 5 Minutes on Tech videos. It'd be cool to see a revival of the series. For example, maybe a segment on the new Core Ultra CPUs.
Thanks Tech Mom, appreciate the review. Always on the prowel for a good creater laptop. For the price of this one, I would expect it to more - self repair - and upgrade friendly. Also, can't do the gimic keyboard thing. That would just slow me down. That w the lack of waccom made it a no for me. Guess I'll be keeping w my fragile samsung for now. Lol. Im sure it will fit someones needs though . 😊
Great review! 343 nits on an OLED is a joke for SDR content to be honest.
The real question is: will the charger be okay if I drop my poodle on it?
ALMOST the best one they've ever made. Why did they solder the ram? I don't think anything, besides being accessible 1% faster, would benefit from it. Especially for "creators" where video editing uses a lot of ram, but it doesn't have to be the fastest. I would take lower speeds to be able to bump it up to 64gb.
Just a heads up. This is not available to actually buy in the U.S. It's always out of stock and few carry it. Its mostly vaporware.
MicroCenter had them for a few months but everywhere else had them on backorder. They quite possibly were released too late to justify their original $3499 asking price.
@@TechGuyB Just picked one up in the UK for £2499 so the price has dropped 38%. An absolute bargain at that price point.
Creator laptop with 32Gb? That's so 2022. I just bought a new one because 33Gb isn't enough anymore and holding me back.
Cant use it unplugged for more than 4hours. Mac Book replacement it is not. Desktop replacement.... more likely. Nice.
Nice haircut Lisa
No built in DVD-player? Sorry, that's a dealbreaker... 😉
That dial ruins the whole look such a bad decision to have it.
No thanks. I prefer that the display on my laptop not start yellowing after a year or suffer from burn in.
says tbe creator whos most creative endeavour is this comment
thisis not worth it
I see no good reason to act my age 😅😅😅😊😊😊😊
are you seriously reviewing a 13th gen laptop? It's completely pointless with the new gen. May as well review the invention of the wheel.
ok boomer
They arent for creators. They arent for gamers. They are just laptops. An OLED doesn't make it for creators. Whats with all the fake labels.
ASUS creators being creative
Maybe the fact it has discrete graphics? Idk 🤷♂ dont think its because of the oled they call it that tho.
It is for creators. Look at the RTX 4070 and that spin/wheel beside the trackpad....There are still many laptops that doesn't have dedicated graphics card. Not even 2gb vram. Those things are just laptops.
The display colour certifications and GPUs this laptop can be configured with make it good for production. The dial is gimmicky, but with the right software it can be made useful. The extra cooling the lifted keyboard provides quality of life by reducing fan noise and throttling during sustained loads like rendering. The combination of these and other benefits make this a good to great choice for creatives, depending on specialisation. It also benefits a lot of other use cases too. The label just communicates intent, it up to the buyer to pick what works best for them.
1. It has an accurate, wide-gamut, calibrated display 2. It has powerful GPU and CPU with low level fan noise 3. It has Pen input 4. It has an input wheel beside the trackpad 5. It has military standard classification to work on production environments 6. it has minimal, unobtrusive design and balanced weight.
If you have no idea of what product placement is, then why bothering separating toilet paper from an assault tank.
They are all things aren't they? We are all mollecules, quarks and forces of nature right?
no number pad, worthless
