Why did I suddenly stop seeing your videos?? I used to binge watch them when I was younger, thank you for piquing my interest in tech
I also wondered this and have been waiting for this review!
Same here
You're seeing her again because her invisibility cloak stopped working
I noticed the same thing. But I think it’s because things such as laptops are not things one buys as often as other tech products. So combination of our search on google and UA-cam algorithm we are less likely to see videos of laptop reviews.
😅 just my speculation though.
Duuude you are right same here
i'm still happy I got my 2023 model from BB for $999 - I've added an additional 16gb of ram and a 2tb nvme for another $140 - i'm happy. Excellent review, as always.
Love Lisa. Not a better reviewer on UA-cam
Why have I never seen your channel before? You're so informative and get straight to the point in your videos. Absolutely love! New subscriber for sure 😁
Just the review I've been waiting for!!
Well, maybe your video isn't as early as others but I LOVE the wider and deeper analysis you give, it's so worth it. The razer comparison, the best buy deal mention (I thought I was mistaken when I saw it, glad to know more people will see it). Best.
Also, I just saw your new hairstyle Lisa, looks great on you
Your review couvered a couple more details than other UA-camrs, you're very thorough with them, always helpful when someone is actually considering buying the product.
Just a little question, does this G14 have that feature where the usb ports charge other devices even when the laptop is off? Lenovos and XPSs have it and it's really helpful to not need to carry a powerbank
Nice. Been waiting for your review x
Thanx for review Lisa
Haven't seen your videos in a while. I am absolutely loving your hair. ❤❤❤❤
Hey Lisa, I've missed you and your reviews!
Just a note on variants. Here in Czech Republic (eastern europe) they sell only 32 gb models. From 4050 to 4070 and the price difference between those is
.. BIG... 4050 starts at 1900€ (VAT included) to 2800€ for 4070. Also 4050 has a different processor. It actually is ryzen 7 8845hs vs 8945hs in 4060 and 4070 model.
I hope you will do a review for the new 2024 Asus Rog Zephyrus G16 as well. Although it's similar looking to this G14 but the performance boost on it should yield some better performance, Im interested in hearing your thoughts about the new Core Ultra 9 pairing up with an RTX 4080 on one of these new G16.
Omg yes I was waiting for this but I need u to review the G16 with the 4080 or 4090 because of the vapor chamber benefits
Ah the youtubes have finally blessed us again with your presence.
Terrible decision to lock 16gb of ram in the lower tier.
That's how they get you to buy the next tier up, Asus wants to move like Apple 😂
My country has a 4060 version with 32gb ram
@@ryulanda9399 Except, you know... Apple saddles you with 8GB, which is practically unusable in 2024 and Asus gives you 16GB, which is exactly what the vast majority of people should be buying.
Aside from that glaring difference, they're totally the same thing.
@@tim3172MacBooks aren’t for gaming and they’re optimized compared to ASUS. 16gb very little and sad for a gaming laptop, heavy usage and charging 1.6k for that is a scam
Both 8 and 16gb are usable. It's just not suitable for your use case. It is usable for others. Heck, some people stopped using a laptop altogether and only using phones.
i dont know if you know this but your computer reviews are simply the best
Would love to see an Asus G14 vs Razer Blade 14 faceoff comparison on which one is the better buy!
You did absolutely excellent review
I bought the 4060 version last week. Gets pretty hot when gaming but other than that it's working great. Love the screen.
Do you get a custom T-shirt for esch video Lisa lol? Great character!
Just ordered mine! Coming from an 8 year old Samsung Notebook Spin 7, this upgrade will feel monumental
This laptop was made for me. I hate the over the top designs of gaming laptops and the thickness. I wanted something slim and light that I could travel with, game occasionally, and didn't look like a gaming laptop. If I were to build a custom laptop, this is what I'd build. I don't need the best components because gaming is a secondary priority. Perfect
Nice T-shirt as always Lisa❤
This laptop has been receiving quite great reviews so far.
I just received the (2024) G14 with 4060. It plays everything I have thrown at it at highest levels without problems. Awesome screen with super slim bezels, comfortable RGB keyboard, thin and light.... It has exceeded my expectations. Initially, I didn't think I would like the silver with white keyboard but it's actually quite elegant.
How about the noise? I'm gonna receive mine in a couple of days and it's the only I'm worried about 😢
@@ainhoaitzacasero8460 I use headphones, so I don’t hear any fan noise. One time, I took my headphones off just to listen and didn’t hear anything, probably because the GPU wasn’t working hard at that time.
@@ainhoaitzacasero8460 one thing, I will definitely purchase a laptop sleeve for it, to protect its exterior finish. While it resists fingerprints, it can get marred by friction from being carried in a backpack. Some Windex and a rag buffed the marks away, but still I will get a protective sleeve to travel with it.
@@Michael-iy8ji Thank your for your recommendation. I have a good laptop sleeve that I used with my MacBook Pro so I think it might fit.
@@Michael-iy8ji and can you tell me what do u think about battery life? Is good as UA-camrs said?
When is the G16 coming? 😊
Are the specs better on this better than the base level M3 MacBook Pro? Can you game on the base M3 pro?
Does it have a second nvme slot for additional storage?
Very pretty laptop. Weird that it doesn't tilt more and no gap from the bottom. Other than those gripes it a beaut! Black still but would have leaned toward the alum build if the logo wasnt on the cover. Slash is pretty fine. I find the logo stamp corny lol
Great Video Lisa, Do you know if the Dell XPS 14 oled latest model has the PWM Flickering? or DC dimming ?
The XPS 14 doesn't have DC Dimming.
@@mobiletechreview You think that might be the reason my eyes are hurting bad will using it?
@@reflectionrecon Use auto HDR if available. I was getting fatigue and motion sickness with default sRGB colour profile on zenbook s13
@@vasudevmenon2496 Ok i will try it, Yea never had this before on any machine and i have had alot of oled screens, really weird?
Please review the hp spectre x360 16 inch 2024 model!
Guaranteed this with 4060 will come for ~$1k during black friday (similar to what happened with 2023). So I am patiently waiting.
What is it with laptops and USB4 faulty ports?
Whenever I hear G14, I instantly think at that mission G14 classified with that little girl who was kidnapped.
Absolutely never want to be restricted by Ram which can't be changed. Not for me. The 2023 version is epic already. Get that one.
The faster RAM is not sold in a modular form, so you are sacrificing speed and latency for the possibility of upgrading RAM sometime in the future?
@@andyH_England speed is hardly noticeable for 99% of my tasks...lack of adequate ram is.
@@theompman but you will always buy the amount of RAM that you need. So unless you are buying on the cheap and upgrading, I don't see your point.
@@andyH_Englandagain, so you can see my point. I want MAX customization of MY computer in MY hands. End of story. If I need/want 32+gb ram in 2-3 years, should I spend another 3000 for a laptop?
@@theompman@theompman You are the minority; that is a niche group that, in a few years, decides they need more RAM. Most of us average consumers buy an ultrabook sensibly, which is what we need or need with headroom. It is a straightforward philosophy. Pros and semi-pros will max out from day one and still may have to buy a newer model in 3+ years as they need faster performance.
Wondering why the G16 wasn’t reviewed at the same time as this smaller version
I have the 2 year old AMD and Nvidia 3070 version and really like it. I would probably upgrade to another one.
This is a public service announcement: Your shirt invisibility cloak isn't working.😅
I’ve been looking for a new laptop for my cat. This one seems like they would like it.
Finally, thank you.
I replaced Armoury Crate with Gsync. It's a lot better. ASUS should hire the developer.
lol ghelper
@@sonicandroxasright. Brain fart 😂
@@MLHunt😂
Lets compare the weight been the Razer and G14
Now you could test it again... But this time you should uninstall Armory Crate and install G Helper instead. Enjoy the performance boost, temperature and noise decrease.
I ordered one that's supposed to arrive tomorrow that I bought for a bit less than $1,300, looking forward to it!! It's an open-box one though in excellent condition, so let's hope for the best... I assume this either means I get lucky and someone just didn't like it or something and I get a good deal, or there was a defect, I really hope it's not the latter. If anyone has any Best Buy open-box experience do let me know.
Will be a really good deal though if it does end up being like new with no defects.
Did you receive the laptop and how is it being an open box?
@@EminiMagic Yes, I've been using it for a few days now! I seem to have gotten lucky, the laptop and charger appeared untouched! The person who had it before seemed to just break the seal, unwrap the laptop box, and then not do much more if anything. The comment on the box said the customer said the laptop didn't have what he was looking for - great for me, as it saved me $170 :D
I have a 2021 G14 and the display just stopped working....look it up, its a wide spread problem so buyer beware
0:50, 1:15, 4:00
So the USB4 port STILL doesn't work. Unbelievable.
Cause a stir and making 32GB the base even for 4060 and that'd get so much more attention. Good all the same, esp vs the xps14
Any story on the USB4 port? Can it be made to work well enough as a TB equiv?
You don't have an extra G14 to loan to me for a while? ;)
What a beautiful machine. It looks too much like a Razer though. But I'm not complaining. Lenovo's newest Legion is following the same design. I'm all for it.
Like thenhair cut
This is such a better laptop than the new Dell XPS 14.
Must have upgradable RAM.
Lisa the GOAT is back babyyyyyyy
God I've missed hearing "Lisa from MobileTechReviews" 😭
Nice
Nice video, but it would be nice to be able to see the person talking from time to time, instead of just a grey screen with a voice over!!
??? You don't see video, just a gray screen?
@@mobiletechreviewoh come on, I was hoping the joke landed, especially with the person wearing the invisibility t-shirt!!!!😅😅😅
So glad I got last years model lol
Too expensive for a device that has an upper limit of 8GB of VRAM. This is already a problem with max textures in some games and will only be worse in the next few years.
I hate the term future proofing, but having a GPU with 12GB of VRAM is necessary for the future AAA games. Also, for ML/AI hobbyists, it's convenient to have more memory.
I mean at time index 8:20 of this video Look at how much the heat pipes cover the Mother board Over Half - And this is why it will fail and BREAK! All that heat cant be pushed out fast enough...
Never could on the Zephs.
Heat pipes *literally* take the heat from the source to the point of dissipation. They do little to impact the thermals of any adjacent component.
If they did, they wouldn't be very good heat pipes.
@@tim3172 Ok but think of it this way. turn the unit right side up - where are the heat pipes? Beneath the motherboard right? So - where does all that heat go - It rises to the mother board and dissipates and if there are any heat sensitive chips on the top because most likely its a double sided circuit board they'll take a hit - All I'm trying to say here is you cant squeeze more power into a lap top because of this. Go and look on how many gaming laptops Northridge Fix has done here on youtube - Alex has more burned out units that are a no fix because of CPU failure...
want it but i really dislike the ROG branding. and having it plastered all over the back is just unacceptable for me. like gaming as much as the next guy but i dont need to advertise it everywhere i am.
Would not waste my money on an Asus. They do not stand behind their products. Period.
Yep. Go with Lenovo instead.
my biggest issues is the completely on board ram the rest of it is good but I would never buy it cuz of that and especially how much they up charge for the ram. Also OLED (burn in, less bright, and glare) I am not conformable for having for a laptop I will try to keep years.
Nice, everything is now just black!😂
are you ok with us calling you mom
Getting higher end graphics cards in laptops is usually pretty pointless. With the much lower power available to any GPU, it is not really going to add much performance. Save the money and get something more reasonable.
I totally disagree. My Asus with RTX4080 mobile performs better than a RTX3080 desktop in gaming at much lower wattage. That's insane.
You have to admit the performance you get in a laptop nowadays compared to the likes of 3+ years ago is pretty impressive
@@fmulleady You are judging a 4080 vs a 3080. They are vastly different platforms. I should have been more clear though. I was talking in putting a 4090 in a laptop instead of a 4070. Sure, it will do better, but it will be FAR less than a desktop version of that 4090. The Desktop 4070 will likely outperform the 4090 laptop because it cannot provide enough power to fully use that chip. Sort of like putting a Big 5.0L V8 on a garden tractor. It is probably going to be a waste of horsepower.
I'm afraid that those of you reading my comment are not going to get the reliability out of these units North Ridge Fix Located in California cant find half the time the controller chips due to manufacturing.
Asus / HP / Alien Ware / Are also bad investments . The problem is the heat that these units generate - the circuitry cant handle it - So Be buyer aware and Make sure you take out the maximum Warranty you can get your hands on or you'll be wasting your money Gaming PC's should be done on Desktop units - not these small units ...
You realize that heat doesn't cause electronics to fail, right?
The reason electronics fail is due to excessive amperage being sent through them, degrading the copper traces.
It doesn't matter if too much amperage is sent through them at 40c or 100c.
You're conflating the effect (thing runs otter because it uses more power and thus outputs more heat) with the cause (excessive power).
As long as you're not overclocking, the temperature is irrelevant.
(That's why a liquid-cooled CPU can fail instantly from overclocking.)
@@tim3172 go and study Northridge fix and you tell me why these unit have failed
I just wish they made a 64GB version
I’ve personally head the speakers, they’re really good. However, it’s not quite as clear as Mac speakers :///
But the keyboard look pretty bad AF, I miss the old school one.
Love your video
