@@JamesJacksonFilmz - I expect the same image processor chip as the GH7. Same GH7 CODECs. Same Express +SD card config. Im guessing internal ND and "maybe" a new full frame sensor that adopts the GH7's sensor readout logic.
My S1H is still going strong. I could care less about 8K. Would like to see 6K ProRes 422 HQ and 60fps not cropped. Will most likely get the new S1HII and have my old S1H as a B-Cam.
Ditto. Solid as a rock for over 4 years and will become my B-cam also. Would like sensor improvements, extended DR, much faster readout speed, internal RAW but not ProRes (V-RAW), internal non-polarising NDs would be nice but I need up to 10 stops; better external power connection port (not non-locking USB-C), a better TC-in port than the PC sync socket (although it has worked fine); XLR would also be nice and I don't mind if it larger in size. Definitely CF Express B but that's a given and obviously all the stuff that the more consumer grade cams already have. Not much then, but as a flagship model, it needs something special, not just a bigger version of the S5iix.
I am not sure it will be all of that. That does sound like an amazing spec camera, I just think given their track record we might at best get 4K60 no crop 422 10 bit. Also I believe V-Log itself caps out at 14 total stops so unless they come with a new log profile, which again I don’t think with this camera, then it will be most likely 14 stops total.
Internal Pro Res 4444, independently verified 15 stops of dynamic range, stacked BSI sensor for vastly improved rolling shutter and low light performance, 120 fps full sensor recording, 10 stops internal ND's with no IR pollution and improved colour science, IBIS and battery life. If Panasonic does all of the above, they can take my money now!
I don't think 8k is important. I would argue that one of the biggest issue with the S1H is the rolling shutter performance. If they can vastly improve on it, especially in open gate recording, they would be on to something special.
If they announce it quickly enough, I could see it biting (even temporarily) into the R5 II market if the potential 6-month shipping delay from Canon is accurate. Now they have a shot - and this is the time.
Just a guess...Panasonic has this super secret, custom developed GH7 dual gain conversion sensor. Nobody knows who developed it, where the fab is or who the patent holders are. It's incredible how well this secret is kept. (Nuvoton? Omnivision?) "If" Panasonic has found a way to port all this dual gain conversion circuitry and it's readout logic into a full frame sensor?...and they have a fab that can manufacture it in high numbers? Holy crap!!...in "theory" this "could" be a 15 or even 16 stop sensor. It might be the highest dynamic range FF sensor in the market today. This would be HUGE for Lumix! The GH7 and it's capibilities might have reveald exactly everything an S1H-II "could" be...
It'd be cool if it was boxy. Have Panny lean into a "cinema" camera body instead of a videocentric hybrid. Then, give photo bodies to the S2 ,S2R. I feel like it definitely needs a screen, though, not be like the bs1h.
Something should be is the uncropped 4K@60p. Also the rolling shutter should be decreased. If those 2 are not addressed before mid 2025 then it will be difficult for Panasonic to sustain the L-mount system. Canon and Nikon has already cameras that solved those problems. Panasonic needs to grow their user base to sell more lenses. Their ecosystem can only grow if their user base is growing. To solve those 2 issues, Panasonic can not rely on old off the shelf Sony sensors. They need to customize one and prove is that the never done this in the FF range. Maybe this is due to their small market and customized sensors need a quantity of bodies to be sold. Panasonic is in difficult situation which means investing in sensor design capabilities if they want to grow. The need to enter into the more professional video market. Let’s even forget about the EVO and Varicam cameras that was a failure. They need to push the L mount FF system.
I need more fps without crop 🙏🏼 120fps, Rolling Shutter fix, 12 mpx, Nd Filters, Arri Clog would be nice. I have so many L-Mount lenses, but when the SH II didn’t come, i have to switch to Sony.
Yes, I think it’s remarkably shortsighted of Panasonic at this point not to pursue an 8K camera because that would give it a much longer useful life given that they have like a five-year upgrade cycle
I think a 6k sensor would be fine, even PREFERRED on the successor, as I'd favor improvements in rolling shutter, frame rates, color depth, codecs etc. There's still improved AF, IBIS, audio (32bit), Arri log, just sitting on the shelf waiting to go in the camera. If they could put a single mini xlr on the body, I'd buy one! CFX cards? What necessitates this? I don't want things I don't need. If I can do what I need to on V90 cards, I'd just stick to that.
@@HGQjazz you won’t get better frame rates and color depth without the cards that can do the read and write speed. SD cards are dated and not fast enough for level of data needed for higher frame rates and better bit depth performance.
@@JamesJacksonFilmz C70 and C80 are doing fine on V90 cards. Plenty of great codes, bit depth, frame rates. Sure at some point, CFXB are faster, but not needed in most production environments where this camera would operate.
Yes.. In this whole super speces video focused beast cameras, lumix is forgetting compact MFT cameras. All we needed was a weather sealed gx9 successor with updated sensor and PDAF. If possible that real time lut feature alzo. With decent videos specs which usually kindly granted from Panasonic, it could make a great travel and everyday camera.

What do you expect the specs of a S1H II to contain?

Necessary: Uncropped 60fps. 32bit float audio. PDAF. Internal ProRes to CFExpress. Open gate or 6K at 60fps.
Wish list: Internal NDs
Internal NDs would be game changing for a mirrorless camera.
Internal ND or XLR would benefit my workflow. Everything else are just add ons that I don't need enough to buy a whole new camera.
I think a higher dual native iso is also a must to compete with Sony. Only feature I really care about
24mpx are enough for video as long we get 4k120 422 (6k60 open gate), no crop, 15 stops of (usable Geralds Undone) dynamic range,

It’d be grey ir Panasonic brings out a mini Varicam FF 6k with 17+ stops ( organic sensor-14 usable DR-Triple native ISO - Arri logC )
I do hope they implement dual slot CF Express Type B cards, plus 4K 120fps, and 6K 60fps open gate. Then i would make it an A-cam and my GH7 a B-cam.
Where can I get all of that right now? And will this Panasonic camera be cheaper than the gh7?

For the s1h2 Panasonic should give it a 12 megapixel sensor for an amazing low light performance.
