I absolutely love Magnet, as I use an external 4K screen, it lets me arrange windows very easily without fiddling with drag and drop or MacOS's own fairly useless split screen feature!

Yay! Textexpander! Way back in the early to mid 90's, I convinced a programmer to include typing macros into the C= 128 software he was writing. He did. I loved it and wrote magazine articles using his app. Then I came to Australia and married that man. I love Textexpander and I swear I don't use it enough. I am still using the same little snippets that I did back on my C128 in the 90's but now on my Mac. Last year I needed to send out an Email to about 20 people that had a lot of the same info but with minor differences so created an interactive Email with Textexpander that got my job done in no time. Very worthwhile app. But I'd never used the menu bar item or even looked at it until now. I'll be making more use of it now that I've realised it's there! Thanks, Mark!
I forgot all about Bartender and I even have a Bartender 4 licence. It turns out it wasn't brought forward when I upgraded to Monterey... so for anyone else who may have had this happen, it was an easy fix. All I had to do was download and install Bartender 4 and then as I'd saved the Email from updating the licence, I clicked the button and it handled registering my licence key. Easy as. Thanks for the reminder on this one - it's a very useful app! (Sorry for so much text. I get carried away with this stuff!)
    😊

Great videos as always Mark! I never understand why people pay for text expander, when it's natively built into iOS and MacOS. I have it set up for almost all things that I type often and it syncs via iCloud across all my Apple devices.

I guess these can be useful but I cannot imagine using any of these with my Mac. plus, I don't want to pay money to use any of these apps when a useful and similar user experience is available for free with the Mac, am I right?

Hello Mark! Great video! You have convinced me to give Bartender a try! I have all the other apps except for Fantastical as I use BusyCal. But its six of one half-dozen the other! I also love Amphetamine! It allows you to keep your Mac awake for various purposes. Can be while an app is running or during a download. Yoink in my menu bar. It allows you to drag files and items from the finder to a collecting Yoink widget that appears mid-left side of screen. You can select multiple files/groups of files and when you are done collecting files, you can then browse to the destination folder in Finder and drag them from the widget to the destination folder. Kind of gives a little assist with drag & drop. I also kind of like Magnet as I am stuck on Catalina on my ‘vintage’ iMac! 😂 Magnet allows you to auto-arrange windows on the screen to any corner or half of the screen, top or bottom, vertical or horizontally. Later versions of macOS appear to have this feature integrated in some way.

I’ve used Amphetamine in the past too. I’m using Rectangle for docking windows but I might try Magnet, thanks for mentioning it. One more I use is Screenie: it can search index any number of folders and images within, but I just use it just to take screenshots (or recordings) and then drag off the tray icon to whatever app I need to “paste” it into.

I am looking for a good radio menu bar app. SonicWab is a versatile app. But in the menu bar app you have to stop your radio before you can change.

You could use Stream Deck instead of Text Expander, I know it is a physical actual device instead but there are pros to this as well. Visual and one button clicks etc. Even better you could do a bunch more than just expanding text. The limit is endless if you know how to use it properly and take the time to set it up.

Caffeine! It's a little coffee cup icon which when you click it (the cup fills with coffee) it overrides all sleep and power saving settings so your screen will stay ON whatever. Essential for presentations etc. and if you use clamshell mode on a MacBook.

Are you new to Mac? The only thing not built into macOS that I look at or use in the menubar is Little Snitch. I'm pretty sure you can already do all of the things you talked about in macOS natively without wasting money on an app.
