Came here from the RRR video. I think I'm in love with Indian films! They're as dramatic as anime, and everything seems to have this "and then..." aspect to it. Everything just keeps going. It starts over the top and then leaves the galaxy by the time the scene ends

In "Fan", he plays a character who is a fan of the real Shah Rukh Khan and so he plays his real-life self in the film and a crazy fan who looks very similar to him. A lot of the scenes are based on real Shah Rukh Khan experiences such as the fans outside his house, the posters of his real films in the fan's bedroom, and the real award show shots. Interesting fact : in 1967, a visionary filmmaker Satyajit Ray was set to direct a movie called 'the alien' written by him, produced by Columbia pictures and starring Marlon Brando. It didn't happen, in 1982 Steven Spielberg made a movie called ET, a movie highly inspired and accused of plagiarising the alien (Martin Scorsese backed this claim too and was a huge topic in the media). In 2003, koi mil gaya happened, which a poor yet fun copy of both, the alien and ET combined.
Side info : In the same year, 2003, The indian al Pacino you mentioned, ie. Nasaruddin Shah, also starred in the Hollywood film "the league of extraordinary gentlemen", which I'd love you guys to checkout and react to since it's the same year, same actor and two different industries.

A good comparison would be video games from our childhood. When we look at them now, the graphics look way worse than what we remember. That's because our imagination filled in the gaps.
It was the same for the old Bollywood VFX; it just felt great to watch a movie in our own language, with the celebrities that we loved, in a VFX-filled sci-fi/fantasy setting.

And E.T. was essentially a rip-off (or say heavily inspired) of a story by Bengali literary legend Satyajit Ray sir. There's even records of him taking legal action against Spielberg after he found out about E.T. (I think there was also fiasco around another Spielberg scifi film, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," though I don't remember what had happened.)
You could say things came full circle with Koi Mil Gaya, LOL.

Koi mil gaya (the first movie) is about when the father Rohit gets powers from Jadoo and how it made him smarter and stronger. Krish is about his son who inherited his father’s powers. Krish 3 comes full circle as Krish never got to meet his dad as he thought he was dead. The bad guy in this movie kidnapped his father and used him for research ever since Krish was born. That’s why he’s in a wheelchair and much weaker than when he was in koi mil gaya. Krish finally gets to meet his father in the end.
    Hope this helps lol.

3:27 In case anyone's wondering like I was, the actor Hrithik Roshan legit has an extra right thumb. Not sure if it's overtly mentioned in the movies, but they gave Jadoo/Jaadu an extra thumb as well.

Do you have recommendations for some of the craziest shit from Bollywood? I watched Saaho with friends recently and it absolutely fried my brain, and I'm thinking of the Baahubali movie with the palm siege scene to watch next. What other craziness is there to be discovered?

@@bartholen I'm pretty sure Baahubali and Saaho are actually South Indian not Bollywood, but as an Indian born and raised in the states, I think I'd be able to tell you a few of the films you'll like. So here goes: *Dhoom 2, (Dhoom 1 is also good but it has a little too much of that cheesy side of Bollywood and doesn't have as much action so you should just start with the second) Dhoom 3, Don (the 2006 one not the 1978 one lmao) and War* I'd say you'd definitely be able to enjoy, and see the type of crazy shit you've been wanting. But also, Bollywood has many different movies that aren't just these typical action films, but since that's what you want, I'd say these movies are your best bet because they have that type of action you like, they're actually pretty good movies as a whole, and they're actually enjoyable for a Western audience. I think most of these movies are on Amazon Prime but I haven't checked recently. So yeah, for anyone who wants to see Bollywood films, who hasn't grown up with them, but also specifically wants to see films that have these anime irl action sequences, I'd say these are definitely the best options. I'll update this if I remember/find any more. Plus, all of the films I listed above either have Hrithik Roshan or Sharukh Khan (the guys featured in this video) in them so that's kinda interesting lol. (Also Don has a ton of plot twists lmao, it's crazyy)
