I did all of these drills this weekend at the driving range and I was hitting straight/drawing drives after years of having a bad slice... This is the real self help video the internet needs. Thanks so much Giles!
The final drill works even better with an "orange whip". I was so frustrated I was going to give up playing golf, but your channel has saved me!!!!! Keep up your great work.
Just fantastic golf instruction with no wasted talk. I have watched several different instructors but Giles Gill is at the top. It seems like he is focused on giving as much information as he can, which is appreciated. I will now be a regular follower.
This is hands down the best driver video on UA-cam. Your presentation and information is hands down the best on UA-cam. Why you aren’t at 100K yet I do not know. @rickshielsPGA give this man the boost he needs!
Have to agree, watching, listening and practicing has almost eliminated my terrible slice… I did have to watch the video numerous times to start grasping the advice- thanks!!! Plenty more to watch now!!! 😂
This is a definitive driver tutorial... I have a bad habits to unlearn, but this gave me excellent checkpoints to watch for on the way. Many thanks for posting.
Gill, I wanted to THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For this video..... I can't thank you enough. I have started to hook and slice on demand.... even better I have improved my chances of hitting my driver straight by 90% on demand provided I follow your pointers. I was almost ready to give up since my slice was never ending.... Your awesome!!!! Thank you for keeping things simple and taking time to share all the hard work you have put in to this sport.
This is a great and very comprehensive video. This is exactly what I needed. However I have to view it various times to get the nitty- gritty. Thanks Giles!
I went to the range today and used the chop stick drill to incorporate more right bend in my swing. The results were mind boggling (good)! I’ve had a love hate relationship with miy driver for years but today I was actually understanding my swing with this club. I hit several drives right down my target line! … and it felt great. You are one of the best instructors out there, Giles. I’ll be watching this video over and over to incorporate. Many suggestions in my swing as possible. Next up if the alignment stick across my toes and upward. I’m hoping to improve my carry distance (about 210 with ~240 total). Any other of your videos on improving distance would be greatly appreciated. Again, many thanks!!!
Finally found a YT video that explains all aspects of how to hit driver. Will probably watch these half a dozen times to Make sure I understand and execute via the drills, on how to hit the one club I have trouble with. Superb content.
This is one of the best golfing videos. I’ve seen in a super long time. Lots of information kiddos. I would recommend watching this video at least minimum 10 times. Absolutely brilliant thank you my friend.
That was a 35 min private lesson right there. I don't get that this is not more popular compared to the "TikTok" advice we are being force fed. Thanks for some outstanding content Giles.
Golf Gold!!! Thank you so much. I'm going to be watching this several times and take it to the range. I personally, might make this go viral. Cheers mate, I owe you a pint!
All your videos are fantastic, step by step instructions easy to understand it’s just transferring all this knowledge into our game 😳😁 Thanks for your channel !
I have struggled with the driver here lately. So glad I have come across this video as it took me back to the basics with some common sense stuff and the drills are perfect!
woow just beginning to golf and this is the best explanation that exist on you tube ever, we need to take all of the other videos down and keep just this one . thank you
Amazing video, it actually help me with my shot, I usually don't subscribe, liked or comment on videos but I'm so pleased that I'm actually doing all three, than you sir
Wow!!! Your explanations are fantastic! Just learning golf so this really helped me. I see now I am ball focused not sweeping swing focused. Thanks so much😁
Another outstanding instructional video…Wish I known about you earlier…All of your instructional videos that I have had an opportunity to review are excellent
Remarkable instruction Giles. You are the best actual instruction on YT in my opinion. Gonna keep pinging you to get some on course stuff working. I know you don't have a place for that yet, but I am gonna be touting you in the comments on every other YTer I watch to try and get some visibility of what you are doing..
Excellent. Its about time somebody pulled everything together in a complete driver swing. Very well done. Not overwhelming at all. There are several points for me. I can see which ones and focus the work, one at a time where I see it needs to be. Definitely SUBSCRIBED, definitely LIKED and I will be checking out your other videos very keemly. Thanks - Schaun..
Great clear video very comprehensive and something to take to the course with confidence, obviously going to watch it a couple more time to get all the information ingrained thank you very professional
Thank you so much for this video, the training just clicked for me and played my first round today were every single drive was straight. Granted direction needs some work but a great starting place.
Im from GDL México, recently I understand english and the information you give is is very worthy, in spanish is a little bit more hard to find someone that explain so good
Good stuff...tried a few things with driver and yes I can see where this will make a big difference. There is a lot here so I'm piecing it together and starting to get the right feels.
Best driver video lesson I’ve ever seen and excellent drills to reenforce positions feels. I struggle with my driver. It will take me time to absorb fully but an excellent video.
Great video, so much information to take in but definitely one of the best videos I have seen. You’re direct and to the point and you really broke down the swing extremely well. I took a few of the tips from this video to the range earlier and I have to say I was hitting the ball a lot straighter and slightly further than normal. I’m really keen to put it into action on the course this weekend
That’s amazing and my best tip when it comes to consuming this information is just work through it systematically. But greater already hear that it’s helping.
Brilliant easy to follow tuition without resorting to "how tour players hit". The chopsticks is a revelation about how wrong my downswing action is. Too much fear on the course to implement the right sequencing. Will need to muscle memory this to beat out the bad habit. Thanks
Just found your channel and found this driver video very useful. I have a question regarding setup. I have found it helps me to place my driver on the ground 6 inches behind the ball at setup i.e. my intended low point. I also position the clubhead slightly towards the toe as this then brings the centre towards the ball at impact because of the elevation. Addressing 6 inches away from the ball also helps me to get optimum dynamic loft at impact and a positive AA without delibetately trying to hit up on the ball. I also find it easier to keep my body/arms square to slightly closed this way. I would appreciate your comments on my setup as it a little different from your video.
Yeah for sure it’s a little against the grain but plenty of players do it and it does help preset the low point behind the ball more. As long as you understand why you’re doing it and it works then that’s all that matters
Giles, This is the best and most comprehensive driver video of them all. Great amount of content but not overwhelming and you keep moving right along in an orderly fashion. I have been a subscriber for quite awhile and hopefully you get many many more. 👏
Excellent Excellent video with great realistic concepts to follow. My driver is all over the map with spin rates near 6000 at times with constant right of target swing path. Believe or not even with crappy swing I do see 245yards ....I'm thinking 25 extra yards are in the bag. Fingers crossed. 65yr old lefty.
Hands down one of the best videos detailing the driver from start to finish. One follow-up question I have is around grip pressure. On a scale from 1-10, I tend to start at address with what I feel is a 3 and as I start down, I feel like my grip pressure ramps up a 10. Is there a good drill to maintain a good grip pressure thru-out the driver swing? What is a good grip pressure?
Grip pressure will change throughout even if we try to stop it. I would worry more about creating the correct movements in transition than grip pressure
Great video, thanks. Could you please do a video on how to adjust your driver settings for maximum length off the tee. There are lots of combinations of loft and lie angle with modern drivers that could take a lot of experimenting to find what works best. Sometimes I feel like I am tweaking my swing to match my driver settings, rather than the other way around.
Thanks Gill for this comprehensive instruction. I have one question though which always troubles me. In the setup you mention to align the ball with the armpit since this will be the lowest point of the arc. Well, this would be true in case we are only swinging with the lead arm. When we are using the correct grip with both hands, then usually it is said that the body’s reference point for lowest point of the arc is not the armpit but the sternum, which makes absolutely sense if one looks at the triangle and which is also commonly explained for iron shots and setup. Now how come, in the driver setup with both hands has the armpit as the lowest point. In addition, if during the swing I turn my lead shoulder up and always I will move this lowest point significantly higher as before. So how does this all goes together? Thanks for the great stuff….Marc
Plus the hands aren’t the same height on the club which will also mean the low point can’t be in the middle of the sternum as the should get tilted (regardless of any rotation)
Great video Giles this helped me out so much thank you. Any chance you can do a video on hitting the Fade/power fade with driver, for me i try it as i prefer the shape to a draw but i find I'm cutting or fading to much and not to sure how to control the amount of curve. thanks in advance.

Wow makes every video worth while! Thank you!
Orange is for tempo not speed don’t like it
Just fantastic golf instruction with no wasted talk. I have watched several different instructors but Giles Gill is at the top. It seems like he is focused on giving as much information as he can, which is appreciated. I will now be a regular follower.
Thank you & you’re right! My mind works by just going to the point & offering value! Glad it comes across that way
No doubt ....pure concentrate...not watered-down insight. The BEST...
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the content
This is hands down the best driver video on UA-cam. Your presentation and information is hands down the best on UA-cam. Why you aren’t at 100K yet I do not know. @rickshielsPGA give this man the boost he needs!

No problem!
Excellent video on drivers. Thanks Giles, I really learnt a lot from your video 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Very Professional. Super instruction with drills. Will you do a video for Senior golfers?
Yes I will this weekend
What a detailed explanation I used this today for the first time I understand the basics of driver managed to hit it 240 yards from 170 .
That’s amazing progress in such a short amount of time!
Absolutely the best driver training video I have ever watched. Straightforward and easy to follow. Great job Giles Love It!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great lesson. Driver has always been an awkward one in the hands. You broke the proper grip down perfectly. Thank you!👍

Good evening, I am a very literal person and this video is what I was looking for! Thanks
Amazing! Glad I could help
Amazing tutorial I have learned a lot and I am excited to try doing your drills! Thank you!❤❤❤
You're so welcome!
Thank you for the video.....I placed the ball further back in the stance and voila.....low hook gone!
There you go! Glad I could help
very nice instructions and repeatable points
Thank you!
Like the steering wheel left then right image. Thanks. Support the downswing video. Thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed it
Giles, This is the best and most comprehensive driver video of them all. Great amount of content but not overwhelming and you keep moving right along in an orderly fashion. I have been a subscriber for quite awhile and hopefully you get many many more. 👏
Glad you liked it!
Excellent explanation including example swing with no flipping hands bud stable release by body motion 👏👏👏
Thank you
Excellent Excellent video with great realistic concepts to follow. My driver is all over the map with spin rates near 6000 at times with constant right of target swing path. Believe or not even with crappy swing I do see 245yards ....I'm thinking 25 extra yards are in the bag. Fingers crossed. 65yr old lefty.
Good luck! With that spin I would say check your clubface and grip
Well U have showed me so much.. Answered so many questions.. I am a self taught golfer so obviously need lessons,, which I plan to get..
Great to hear this has helped you and good luck with the lessons when you get them
Wow, super video. The alignment stick drills are enlightening
Glad you think so!
There is no one perfect setting. It depends on your current launch conditions
The lead side controls the low point as it is rotating open in the downswing which drags the low point forwards, hence under lead armpit as our guide
Plus the hands aren’t the same height on the club which will also mean the low point can’t be in the middle of the sternum as the should get tilted (regardless of any rotation)
Great video. Pretty much all I need.
Glad it was helpful!
Best video. Others talk for 5min and give suspect advice. This is packed with info and to the point.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the detailed video!
Best golf instructor on UA-cam!
Thank you!!

Great video Giles this helped me out so much thank you. Any chance you can do a video on hitting the Fade/power fade with driver, for me i try it as i prefer the shape to a draw but i find I'm cutting or fading to much and not to sure how to control the amount of curve. thanks in advance.
I’ll add it too the list 👍🏻
