Right as you said " number 2" The video cut to a 5 second commercial where a woman jumped up and yelled "BEHOLD! THE SPICY BLACK BEAN BUGER!" I almost fell out of my chair laughing at how perfect the timing was.
This is a tough one but I would have to say my top 5 favorite monsters are 1. Rathalos 2. Dreadking Rathalos 3. Silver Rathalos 4. Azure Rathalos 5. Flame Rathalos Honorable mentions are Hyper Rathalos, Hardcore Rathalos, and of course the Frenzy Virus Rathalos.
My favorite is Rhenoplos. I'm actually serious, Rhenoplos have saved my life on multiple occasions and even took the hit for a projectile more than I'd like to admit. Rhenobros are always there for me.
My top 5 are (regardless of their subspecies): 5) Rathalos 4) Lagiacrus 3) Seregios 2) Brachydios 1) Zinogre I really like the Zinogre since it has great design, fights are not boring (for me), great bgm, and great armors/weapons... Also like it's smug attitude where it circles aroud you slowly sizing you up...
WH40KHero Oh yeah, kinda noticed it that now... Ceadeus is close to number 5 though, I really like the fight and the music... Didn't add Ceadeus since all elder dragon fights are amazing and would like to focus on the wyverns...
My favorite has to be the Qurupeco. It's not very threatening at first, in fact it looks super derpy, but I just love how well they implemented it into Tri (my first game) and in some way 3G/U. It's the first "real" monster you fight (Great Jaggi and Arzuros came before it, but both are pushovers), and it does a great job at teaching the player about Elements, as almost all armor sets at that point have a big weakness to fire so it will deal a big amount of damage with it's fire-attacks. It also has patterns that are easy to memorize, which is something the player will have to do with all other monsters to come (great Jaggi is a little to random to properly memorize patterns at first, but Arzuros has easily learnable patterns in 3G/U) Plus he sorta teaches the player about the correct use of sonic bombs. I never played Freedom (Unite), but from the newer games I assume that most of these points also apply to Kutku, but I personally don't find Kutku to be visually appealing, plus Qurupeco has the big gimmick of calling other monsters for help. I remember feeling like I was going to steamroll the rest of the game after beating the Great Jaggi and doing a good job at the first half of the Qurupeco fight, only to have Rathian show up and put me back into my place. Plus he was the main focus of my two favorite event-quests: A Strange Call (the first S.Jho quest) and Gathering of Songbirds (2 tiny Pecos and 2 tiny C.Pecos) TL;DR: Lemme smash
No lies detected. Qurupeco is easily my favorite too. I roll Hunting Horn and combined his G-Rank armor with the shades to make my character look like an early rock star. Not to mention he has so much personality when you fight him it really renewed the series in my eyes. He's the only figure from Monster Hunter I have on my shelf.
I dunno why, I struggled with Peco more than I did with Diablos. I could never read it´s moves correctly and getting more frustrated over the hunt didn´t help me.
I have 3 favorites and they're all Elders- 1. Kushala Daora. *I freakin love storms.* 2. Amatsu. (or Amastumagatsuchi) _Again, _*_I love storms._* 3. Valstrax. _Who doesn't love a rocket dragon???_
"Plesioth" *Hands about to hold the sides of my cranium in disbelief* *hears kid laughing* You got me, Adam. You got me good. Hearing you laugh was a relief.
My favourite Monster is the Lagiacrus. I just love all of his weapons/armory and his first appearance in MH Tri is just epic an very good made (also MH Tri was my first MH)
Oh man, Molten Tigrex gave me nightmares. I remember hunting that thing with my friend online and the entire Skype call was nothing but tension and the occasional "OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT--" before seeing his hunter's health fall to zero. I was a hunting horn main and he was using insect glaive, so he would mount it and I would lay the smackdown once it hit the ground. Finally killing that thing after several tries was one of the most awesome moments of victory I've had with this series.
Great video! I find it so hard to pick a top 5, I definitely love the original Rathalos purely for nostalgia reasons and how terrified I was when I first saw him in the PS2 game!
Tigrex is my favourite. I love his simple grounded design, his simplistic yet challenging fight, and how he was the first monster to really beat me into trying new weapons and tactics and getting better as a hunter. And I’ll never forget the absolute terror I felt when he first appeared in “A Sinking Feeling” and nearly one shot me.
My favorite monster is silverwind nargacuga because nargacuga was the flagship of the first monster hunter game I played (mhfu) and the silverwind just makes it even cooler
I'm kinda disappointed that they nerfed Narga so much. I mean it happens to every flagship but it hit Narga the hardest. I MEAN HE'S RARITY 2 DAMN IT!!! He deserves much better. Fuck you Brachydios for still being hard.
I dont think they really nerfed him. I think the problem is, that Nargacugas strength is speed, wich totally works in the old games. But nowadays the hunters are faster then him
My favorite monster has been the Seregios ever since 4U came out, I really love how aggressive it is and the bird like noises and movements it has (Birds are my favorite animals). I also love how it has a nice, shiny gold colour and how it basically has sharp knives all over it's body. The Seregios is the monster that sort of taught be how to be more evasive when hunting monsters.
My top five are probably 1. Rajang 2. Brachydios 3. Deviljho 4. Brute Tigrex 5. Giginox As a SnS user, I really love the intense, fast-paced, aggressive monster fights.
I was actually thinking about that, and I started with Tri (as well?) and I don't really feel anything for Lagi! Alatreon is my favorite monster though, so theres at least something from my starting game. I guess I really like Abyssal lagi though. Ivory was neat too. (:
Your goddamn right! He was the first monster that was really threatening, like when I first met him I was in a spot where the cutscene of him would end and he was to the right of me, it was quiet and then BOOM he turns his head, the music starts and Im like "Oh shit, shit, shit, shit. RUUUUN!"
Great video! My favorite by far is Gogmazios. Act of Gog scarred me, which made it so much sweeter when I beat it. Your daughter sounds adorable by the way.
Odds are no one will agree with my list but whatever, here it is regardless 5. Lagiacrus Although MHF2 was my first game, I didn't really get super into the series because, well, just play that game, it's like darksouls on steroids. Anyway regardless, MH3 was the game that first made me monster hunter mad and Lagiacrus was such a memorable part of that, I remember fighting him on land and absolutely creaming him but then when he was in the water it was completely different story. Also bonus points for cool subspecies 4. Velocidrome Another iconic monster in my past, and although I fought Giadrome first, I can't deny I prefer Velocidrome, besides being based on a dromeosaur and just looking cool, I have very fond memories of the Velocidome dual blades and suit, it felt soo amazing just slicing and dicing while looking like a blue raptor. I did something similar with the remombra suit but since that's a small monster it's not included here 3. Gobul Ok ok, this is where my list gets weirder, idk why but I just love unusual creatures and gobul is no exception, it's like a monkfish pufferfish giant salamander hybrid with an anglerfish lure, not to mention the fact it blows up while enraged and can bury itself, it's just, SOO COOL 2. Gigginox Most hate him, but I love him, the gigginox is fast and toxic and is legitimately terrifying, constantly producing eggs and having two heads aswell as looking like Venom while enraged and do I even need to mention that tundra theme, it sends chills down my spine just thinking about it. Also I've always found giggi kinda cute, idk why but still. 1. Khezu Yep, I said it, I LOVE the khezu, sure he has no theme but, it's a flying electrical leech thing that swallows prey whole! when I first fought this thing back in MHF2 it was quite easy because you could just sit on the log in the cave and just shoot at it and he couldn't touch you, so I farmed him like no tomorrow just for that hammer, aww that hammer, soo cool looking and sounding, I've slayed many a wyverns with that weapon and in every game it was available since, I always make a khezu hammer. Also that ecology video is awesome
I like lavasioth aswell tbh, he's soo large and fast and is pretty terrifying, I did like plesioth aswell but only in MH3U mainly because you can follow him in the water and bring the fight to his home turf, otherwise, he's fun but the whole staying underwater still is a bit of a downer. I also love their designs and have always wanted to see a lavasioth without its hardened magma body, capcom make it happen lol
Ryaquaza 1 5. Pretty normal 4. That's a bit odd but ok 3. Unusually as well 2. Not as odd as as the other two if you ask me... 1. We need to have a talk
i remember doing that g-rank khezu over and over to get this stupid ass quality khezu meat or something dang hard times but at least it was challenging unlike monster hunter world
5. Great Jaggi (Aleays my first armor 'cause of its handy attack boost; also so much fun to slaughter and test the strength if my weapons on :P) 4. Tetsucabra (Used to really like Barroth, and this Monster filled the gap with its great armor still useful at the end of the corresponding rank) 3. Rathian (So much fun to slaughter as well) 2. Shagaru Magala (Never really got to G in 3U, so my first proper Land-based Elder Dragon, and boy was it fun) 1. Silverwind Nargacuga (Amazing to see this thing toss other hunters around while I dodge through it with my adept DB)
A Pretty Cum Guy Well tigrex is the flagship of freedom 2 which was (in the west at least) the third monster hunter game afaik and that was a looong time ago, and i can't remember but didn't the narga have poison in mhfu already?
5. Lagiacrus. He was my first real challenge MH3U, the game that I started with, it terrified me at first so it left a lasting impression on me. 4. Deviljho. When I first met this guy, I had already heard about it via online tutorials and walkthroughs, so I thought I was ready to face it. Needless to say, I wasn't. However, this served as motivation to improve my skills even further, and it made it all the sweeter when I finally realised I was at the point where I could take one on my own. This monster was the one that pushed me to become the kind of hunter whose skills are to be feared, not respected. 3. Alatreon. Most of my love for this guy comes from hate. Not only is he a great challenge in-game, but I found my way to a MH fanfic called The Lost Civilisation, in which Alatreon is personified as the story's main Antagonist. And holy crap was it good. It painted Alatreon as villain so magnificently that I can't help but hear his evil, sadistic laughter ringing out as I fight him. This guy truly is a monster, in both appearance and power. And it is for that reason that I throw any people I wish to pass my skills onto into a fight with the Alatreon after giving them a basic explanation of the controls, with one instruction; "Survive." Both people I have done this to when introducing them to Monster Hunter are now soloing G-Rank. 2. Zinogre. Breakdancing Dragon-Wolf, love at first sight. Nuff said. As soon as I made it into G-Rank, I managed to score a fight with the Stygian alongside Yuri from Capcom-Unity. Ahh, memories... 1. Dire Miralis. In the game where it all began for me, this was where I reached my end, my full potential. Everything about this fight, the Monster, the setting, the Music, it all screamed "Moment of Truth". I had started that journey on my own, with no skills to speak of and my determination to be a great hunter as my only guide. All throughout the game I had struggled against overwhelming odds to become strong. I fought alone at first, but after somehow managing to teach myself how to stand up against these monsters and solving Moga village's Earthquake problems, learning just how far I had left to go through High Rank, I went to Port Tanzia and made friends. I learned how to use teamwork, I learned just how fun this game could be with friends at your side. I endeavoured to become stronger and stronger by fighting on my own, so that I knew my strength wouldn't fail them when they needed it. It wasn't long before I surpassed all of them completely. They were in awe. They began to wonder and ask if I even needed them at all, to which I responded that there is no such thing as overkill in Monster Hunting. We pushed further and further onward, eventually conquering G-rank and finally reaching the fight at the Tainted Sea. Our party of four all came together one day with the purpose of crossing that threshold and finishing the game together. I had made so many memories and so many friends along the way that a chill ran down my spine as watched the opening cutscene. I remembered how I first dropped the game, thinking it was terrible, only to pick it back up two years later. I remembered struggling with my first fight with the great Jaggi. I remembered cheering when I defeated Lagiacrus. I remembered meeting my all of my friends that stood beside me as we watched Volcanic Rocks rain down from the blackened sky. I remembered how weak I was, and I realised how strong I had become. So together with my friends, I charged forward as the distorted title theme began to play. This was it. This was my final battle.
As you say, my first flagship monster will always be my fave - Lagiacrus. I went into Tri blind, so the main guy popping up on an early gather mission was a great surprise :)
top 5 for me are 5. Malfestio (for having the funniest animations and being an interesting fight) 4. Nargacuga (for easy white sharpness and really big tells on its moves) 3. Seltas Queen (because bugs are cool) 2. Zinogre (because I main HH) 1. Barroth Obama (for the name and being like a dog that likes to get dirty)
I think Malfestio would be awesome if there was some crazy version that made no sense with like blast element or something. Wait isn't there a deviant one in XX?
Nebuladark, It's not that hard to fight Raging with BM weapons, just mind when the spots are glowing bright or abuse the hit box of the explosions, for example: If attacking the arms, if you are standing under next to the under side of the arm you have to be real close to be hit by the explosion. If standing at the nape the horn explosion can't hit you. And for the tail if standing at the base of it, you are safe. Though Gunning him is still easier.
I never really understood why people like shagaru over gore to me, it's almost the same monster, except it has those annoying purple fire pillars that come out of the ground...
I have a habit of loving all the monsters that others hate. My favorite monster was always Qurupeco. I had always loved birds, and starting with Tri, this was the monster that sold me on the series with its personality. It didn't just kill you; it annoyed and mocked the piss out of you, and called for help. I feel like that's something you don't see too often in games "like" Monster Hunter. I would later move to Japan shortly after Cross came out, where I was introduced to what would become my new favorite: Hororo Horuru, now also known as Malfestio. One trip to one of Tokyo's owl cafés and owls became my "thing" so to speak, and I've just embraced it ever since. That said, I have to mention Valphalk and Blue Thunder Raizex because I own their glasses from the MHXX x ALOOK collab.
I love you're content Gaijin, and, in no particular order, Zinogre, Lagiacrus, Alatreon, Astalos, and Myo Galuna (just because the story implications of it being the "ultimate" monster are incredible.
I love the apex system. I loved The whole guild quest system in general. Gave my friends and I more game to play with more challenge. We had specific quests tat were special to us
my top 5: 5. Zinogre 4. Jhen Mohran 3. Rathalos (with a bow or hammer its so much fun) 2. Alatreon (the music, the fight, sooooo good) 1. Ceadeus ( I started with MhTri and it was a blast when I saw him for the first time!)
Games I've played so far: MHTri/3U, MH4U. Generations MAY be bought next month. 1.) Gore Magala - Love the design, that its angry state changes its AI significantly beyond just "Hurts more, hits faster." The virus mechanic of 4U makes it pretty unique too. 2.) Deviljho - A nutso fight in all forms, plus it's a T-Rex mixed with a Pickle. 3.) Lagiacrus - I don't own Generations yet so I cannot comment on that iteration, but Lagiacrus was a fight I enjoyed on land or water. I cannot say the same for the other Leviathans, the land-only one can be really annoying and Gobul is the worst in water. 4.) Seregios - Unique fight, I like its motif with the scale razors. It's just fun. 5.) Zamtrios - Weird one, I know. I like his balloon mechanic and his ice armor.
My Top 5 Monsters: 5. Agnaktor (Same reason, was what got me into using a Lance. And was one of my first training monsters) 4. Alatreon (My first Elder Dragon, he's not hard most days with a good team. But back then, this Dark Prince was my first Elder) 3. Nargacuga (The TRUE monster that taught me that I need to understand monster's movements. Plus its a cute dragon cat!) 2. Rathalos (Oh this guy, love and hate him. Was the first monster I thought was hard but grew to love him for LS) 1. Zinogre (My Precious Wolf monster. Saw this guy, immediately fell in love with this monster. I love Wolves, and dragons. Zinogre was both. Not only did I feel like this monster demanded your respect but its theme and movement stuck me as a whole. I loved fighting this monster but I often ended up capturing them cause I loved them so much. Not to mention these lone wolves just made me feel some empathy as well as some strength. Stygian Zinny and Zinny have been my favorite when I played 4U and still are my favorite to this day! When I get my Zinogre in MH Stories? I'm gonna call him Yelv ;v; cause Yelv's personality matches that of Zinogre)
it's 3:15 a.m. in the morning I'm working overnight and I get off at 5 a.m. and you decided to upload a video looks like I'm getting off late this morning again
What you were saying about the flagship monster of your first game being extra special is so true. My first MonHun game was MHTri and Lagiacrus is one of my all time favorite monsters.
One day I hope that deviants, variants, sub species and rare species will exist in a single game together. Imagine the mixed set possibilities in a game that packed.
tht'd b great as their last game in the series. I cant see it being apart of the series and more come after it. It will just burn ppl out on the monsters and they will feel like theirs not enough monsters being added with each new entry. SO yea I wuld luv this as the series', Swan song.
If they did that no one would really go for any of the deviant sets Because the rare species usually have the best armor. remember how many used the molten Tigrex g rank armor?
Molten Tigrex isn't that common though. In 4U everyone by endgame used mixed sets. Besides, if they added them back they would probably be as normal monsters meaning they would have to rework the skills they have.
I think I liked way too much the hudge monsters so i could say : 5) Jhen-Mohran, because he's so badass that he makes sandstorms 4) Ceadeus, because he's like a divine spirit of water who cames from a miyazaki movie (and awesome ost) 3) Shagaru Magala, because i'm a 4u fanboy and i liked this battle soooo much that i wanted him to speak at the end, like the goar in Princess Mononoke ! I like the way he represent like a evil angel who spreads corruption. (also omg i love this end-of-the-world ost) 2) Teostra because he's soooooo badass, the concept of the explosive powder that he spread then he make a sparks with his teeth is way too cool, like a Roy Mustang monster ! (also best ost) 1) Gogmazios, because this is the best fight ever ! The arena makes a lot and the fact that you're with your bros from 4u ! And when he's pissed of and he starts to fly and you're like "omfg this thing can fly" then he start his tar-beam whithout aiming and this is the end of the world ! So fun.
it is very hard to choose a top 5 monster, there are just too many good ones like Khezu is the first monster to kick my ass in MHFU Plesioth smack me from miles away Hermitaur my fav punching bag Rathalos cuz he is just so cool and scary at first when I played the original MH on ps2 Tigrex is insanely fun to fight Narcuga is also one of the monster that taught me how to git gud, and also very fun to fight Kushala Daora is so cool and super prolonged battle for the first few fight is surprisingly fun, I would never imagine I could enjoy a 40 minutes battle against one monster before Kirin for its cool armor set Lao Shan Lung, first time I hunt a gigantic godzilla feels so epic Fatalis is just dayum and the list could go on and on
It was super cool to hear that you started with Monster Hunter 3 G/Ultimate cause that's actually the first game I started with too! My friend showed it to me and got me hooked, and I've enjoyed the series since!
5. Seltas Queen - Her cinematic in 4U is literally taken from Gurren Lagan (look up "Seltas Queen" tumblr, there's a gif set) and everything about her is mech themed and honestly, who doesn't love mechs? 4. Ukanlos - When you skip the intro in 4U the music starts out peaceful and gets intense the moment he does his first attack. Also he's imo a better version of akantor and doesn't sound like an angry vacuum cleaner 3. Dalamadur - love the giant danger noodle, everything about it is just epic 2. Chameleos - blep 1. Gogmazios - I still remember the look of terror my sister gave me when she first saw the intro for the big guy. He is just monstrous in every way. He's huge, he looks evil, he can blow up half of the arena at whim and he doesn't even care about the dragonator in his back. Oh and when he's angry almost every attack of his can kill you instantly when you're not full health. But the best part about this fight is in my oppinion the music. The bells at the beginning of the second theme are like the game is saying "Congratulations, he's now at half health and really pissed off". But they are also nice to hear as a (mostly) solo hunter because you know that you can still beat the big oily brick wall. And the feeling when you nuke him with the demolisher and the monster hunter theme starts playing... holy shit... I hope they are going to bring him back some day so more people can experience it because it's so awesome I just can't describe it with words...
In no order, Molten Tigrex Savage Deviljho Barroth Duramboros Nibblesnarf For the first, I totally agree on the reasons for Molten Tigrex For the middle 3, I love me some brute wyverns! Savage Deviljho gets special place just for being so evil! I also enjoyed Apex Jho for the same reason. Nibbelsnarf is just fun, and I love feeding it barrel bombs and yanking it out of the ground! Special mentions to Lagiacris and Agnaktor (especially Glacial), as well as Diablos and Monoblos (white was fun), Seregios, and the Seltas pair... Like fighting transformers! ... So much fun! But I could name so many more as well. So many unique challenges! Btw I also started with MH3, for me it was tri, though I didn't play it much before 3u. I think you actually inspired me to learn lance.
My top Favorite Monsters in the series and why are. 5.) Nargacuga, this stealth predator was the monster that taught me how to use evasive rolls. From the MHFU opening tease I wanted to go out there and find it. It always getting out of the view of the camera really changed up the fight. It's always a good hunt with Nargacuga. 4.) The Gammoth aka Popodrome, this mountain of a monster. Especially as a prowler made this girl a fun fight. I would really like a chance to fight the silver ridge if XX comes to the west. 3.) Lagiacrus, This king of the sea was always a blast to fight. (unless you were going for a plate run in 3U). It's different versions each made a fun and different fight. (The abbysal being my only likeable underwater fight) 2.) Siregios, Out of the new monsters in MH4U, this bladed baddie really got my attention. It's fighting style was a pretty fun take on a flying wyvern. Its attacks sweeping across the desert sands trying to make its prey bleed. Bleed was a new and stressful status. Having to risk eating a whole steak or kneel down and risk getting hit. And don't forget the cool weapons the seregios would have. Auto sharpen and reload?! Count me in. 1.) Tigrex (Reg, Brute, Molten, and Grimclaw) Starting with a MHFU really helped mold my views on the monsters. The opening fmv really got me excited to fight what looked like a beast of a wyvern at the time. Little did I know that I would get carted by it again and again. The Tigrex really felt like a threat until I learned how to beat it. I also really liked how it could get its face stuck against the mountain in area 8. Each version of the Tigrex has been a blast to fight. Honourable mentions would be Zinogre, Diablos, Deviljho, Glavenus, and if I could put elder dragons on my list I would. Thanks for the fun content Gaijin.
my top 5. 5. Kecha wacha. I've always loved the insect glaive and the armor set that came from carving it. it was not the best armor but I loved looking like wukong. 4. Lagiracus. I've always called it the Lagricarus ever since I played Tri on the wii. I had so much fun hunting this monster and I was happy to see it come back in generations. 3. Jhen Moran the fact that you fought this giant monster on a sand skimmer was so incredible to me and really made me realize how amazing monster hunter can be. (also it helped that the tutorial for the 4th game was you fighting another one of these guys.) 2. Gore Magala. this was the first monster that a close friend and I got together to fight. we had gotten so good at hunting this monster we could track every move it made and would know where it would strike. if there was ever an endangered species in monster hunter, Gore would be on that list. (just saying) 1. So jhen introduced me to how incredible monster hunter could be. Jho showed me how terrifying as well. Devil Jho is by far my favorite monster and I hope that he will be in worlds so badly. I have a group of friends that have never played MH before and just having Jho show up in the middle of a hunt would be incredible. seeing his size in comparison to the monster we are hunting and having to run away and hide from it while he eats everything in his sight would be terrific. and just the feeling alone of my friends and I hunting him down and taking him out would be exhilarating.
My personal top favorite would be the Kushala Daora. It has an amazing design, it's a classic dragon but with a unique twist to it and the armor your get from it is top notch for any fashion hunter, plus the armor skills are pretty good too. The Stygian Zinoger would also be one of mine as well, the Gunner set from MH4U was amazing looking. The Astalos probably has to be the funnest for me to fight and I'm looking forward to the deviant version of it. The Rathian is also a good classic, cool looking armor, tough to fight and that poison always keeps me on my toes. The Gigginox was awesome, I really wish they'd bring him back... He was so cool! Those are probably my top five, but that list is constantly changing and I expect MHXX will introduce some new favorites. Also... I know you don't like making negative videos, Giajin, but could you do your top 5 *least* favorite monsters?
I think Rathalos would be mine. Packed quite a punch in the first MH. Lots of memories grinding it in order to at least manage to kill it once *g* Great video Gaijin!
My favorite is definitely Rathalos just because I love his design, and especially the armor you get from him. My 2nd favorite monster is Lagiacrus, since he was the flagship monster of Tri, which was also my first MH. The way you meet him during a seemingly harmless quest in the beginning of the game, and then later beating the crap out of him was just a great feeling.
"The flagship monster of the game you entered the series on will hold a special place in your heart." Yup, I'm no exception. Rathalos, plain and simple. 2004 Monster Hunter Rathalos was a beast! Good people I've been hunting the same monster for almost 13 years and still not tired of it. Shout out to all the super old school hunters like me that remember head-locking.
Wow lol, pretty much most of those monsters are my least favorite. I personally cant stand Deviljho, he looks awful to me and his moves are generic looking and not cool.
Hi Gajin Hunter, you are doing a great job! :) Here is my list! (I do not count Elder Dragons) 5-- Rajang and Furious Rajang 4-- Glavenus 3-- Gore Magala 2-- Brachydios 1-- Zinogre and SSJ Zinogre
Hey Gaijin Hunter! First getting this out of the way, and I'm sure you get this a lot, but I've been watching your videos for a long time since 4U came out, and I've been wanting to thank you for offering advice and sharing your passion with the game. It's helped open the game up to me immensely and I've become pretty passionate about it as well! Your choices of top monsters were cool; it's all about the monsters for me. When I was little, I started out drawing monsters, and now ideally I'd like to be a monster designer, so there's no shortage of passion there from me! (Even sculpting them, those Capcom monster hunter figures you shown in an earlier vid actually really inspired me to sculpt more). Something I've always wondered about though, was Deviljho's theme. It reminds me hardcore of Igor Stravinsky's, The Rite Of Spring. I don't know if it's because it's orchestrated or what but I feel like they pulled from that, maybe even bits of the Verdant Hills battle theme music too.
Old video but I love the point about how the flagship of your first monster hunter game will always be special and this kind holds up for me. My first game was 3u but I never actually got to Brachydios. I just reached high rank and then 4U came out. For me, Lagiacrus was my flagship, and I absolutely loved Lagiacrus. Leviathans and Fanged Wyverns are my favorite monster types so it makes sense that my favorite is a tie between Lagi and Zinogre.
Personally: 5) Brachy 4) Nargacuga/Silverwind 3) Nakakos and Dalamadur/Shah 2) Diablos and Monoblos 1) Gore, Shagaru and Chaotic Magala Hard to just choose one for a top five since I love their designs, their armor (Even if it sucks), weapons and battles! Plus, you are right that the flagship monster of your first MH game will always hold a special place in your heart. I mean, Gore is a lot like Glavenus; They had so much confidence in them, that they received a species variation in their first game (Chaotic and Hellblade. now that I think of it, imagine fighting both at once!)
When you said that the flagship of your first game holds a special place in your heart, that actually applies to me because my favorite monster is Nergigante.
5.) Barroth- My first mh game was mh3u and Barroth was the first monster I really farmed and I loved the armor. 4.)Tetaucabra- Served the same purpose as Barroth. Fun monster that I, to this day, use to try out new weapons. 3.)Seregios- I got stuck and eventually stopped playing mh3u after barely reaching high rank. I rejoined the series in mh4u the Seregios was the monster that really gave me a challenge. It was also awesome to see it take on the rathalos. 2.)Rathalos- Encompasses everything I love about mh. A series staple that's not going anywhere. 1.)Lagiacrus- As you said, the flagship of your first game sticks with you. I never got far enough to encounter brachidios, but I did fight lagi. It felt so epic when I beat it, like I'd truly conquered a monster.
I started with MH4U and honestly, you're right in saying flagship monsters are usually big favorites because the Gore Magala and the Shagsru Magala are my absolute favorites. To make a list though: 1. Gore Magala/Shagaru Magala (can't decide which one I like better) 2. Deviljho 3. Astalos 4. Rathalos 5. Tetsucabra Love your stuff btw!
I think what makes Deviljoh hard is that no matter how big the map and no matter how much distance you put between you and it, it instantly (or quickly) closes the gap. There is no safe distance to pop a quick pot. You either zone or time the pot with its attacks.
5. Plesioth
4. Plesioth
3. Plesioth
2. Plesioth
1. Bullfango
MADank you absolute madman
Memefango FTW xD
MADank what about green plesi
Oh faq Plesioth
Burn in hell....
Right as you said " number 2" The video cut to a 5 second commercial where a woman jumped up and yelled "BEHOLD! THE SPICY BLACK BEAN BUGER!" I almost fell out of my chair laughing at how perfect the timing was.
Awesome video man! Fun to see your top 5 :D
Arekkz Gaming hey dood
Arekkz Gaming You should do one, too Arekkz
I love that all MH channels I know, also know each other :)
Arekkz Gaming plz your top five, plus im a big fan
Shamless self-promoting.
This is a tough one but I would have to say my top 5 favorite monsters are
1. Rathalos
2. Dreadking Rathalos
3. Silver Rathalos
4. Azure Rathalos
5. Flame Rathalos
Honorable mentions are Hyper Rathalos, Hardcore Rathalos, and of course the Frenzy Virus Rathalos.
Only 3. place. Really?
like you could beat dreadking
Soripheal what do you mean? He's so easy to solo. I can do it like 9 mins with ig.
Let's just wait for the Silver Dreadking Rathalos to appear.
Noticed your profile picture, nice connection to your choices lmao
First (so you don't have to)
gaijin hunter Heartless
gaijin hunter good one xD
gaijin hunter my fav monster is Nargacuga
My favorite Monster probably will always be Kushala Daora = )
My fav is Shagaru Magala
My favorite is Rhenoplos.
I'm actually serious, Rhenoplos have saved my life on multiple occasions and even took the hit for a projectile more than I'd like to admit. Rhenobros are always there for me.
My top 5 are (regardless of their subspecies):
5) Rathalos
4) Lagiacrus
3) Seregios
2) Brachydios
1) Zinogre
I really like the Zinogre since it has great design, fights are not boring (for me), great bgm, and great armors/weapons... Also like it's smug attitude where it circles aroud you slowly sizing you up...
Flagship Monster All-Stars? :D
WH40KHero Oh yeah, kinda noticed it that now... Ceadeus is close to number 5 though, I really like the fight and the music... Didn't add Ceadeus since all elder dragon fights are amazing and would like to focus on the wyverns...
now this is a list i can agree with B) ZINOGRE FANS UNITE
brachy, zinogre, and gore are my favorites
fun, fast paced fights, memorable music, unique designs, and great gear
Don Albert Quiatchon great armor and weapons from zinogre? lol is this a joke?
Plus he was the main focus of my two favorite event-quests: A Strange Call (the first S.Jho quest) and Gathering of Songbirds (2 tiny Pecos and 2 tiny C.Pecos)
TL;DR: Lemme smash
Also my favourite. The armour looks cool and gives you evasion, which fitted my playstyle.
I see a man of taste has come in. NCH fan. :)
Butt dance *drops mic*
I have 3 favorites and they're all Elders-
1. Kushala Daora. *I freakin love storms.*
2. Amatsu. (or Amastumagatsuchi) _Again, _*_I love storms._*
3. Valstrax. _Who doesn't love a rocket dragon???_
"Plesioth"
*Hands about to hold the sides of my cranium in disbelief*
*hears kid laughing*
You got me, Adam. You got me good. Hearing you laugh was a relief.
5. Lagiacrus
4. Nerscylla
3. Mizutsune
2. Amatsu
1. Gogmazios (and the whole Gore line)
Light of All Worlds gogmazios was fucking awesome
5. Rathian
4. Duramboros
3. Tigrex
2. White Monoblos
1. All of them
My favourite Monster is the Lagiacrus. I just love all of his weapons/armory and his first appearance in MH Tri is just epic an very good made (also MH Tri was my first MH)
A shame he got nerfed into the lower Rarity 3 class.
Melynx Drome Sadly True, but I still love him
the goat scream is back!
Juliuz Capiz aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh
isn't that the wilhelm scream
its not
I should totally be sleeping right now
i love how happy he sounds when talking about the monsters.
I find it so hard to pick a top 5, I definitely love the original Rathalos purely for nostalgia reasons and how terrified I was when I first saw him in the PS2 game!
tht sonofabitch was my rival in my 1st MH game, MH Tri. (funny enough when I got to 3U his subspecies Azure was easier than him. lol)
Tigrex was my 1st nightmare on FU :'). I just crafted a Lighting LS just to beat him
Tigrex is my favourite.
I believe I am in the extreme minority with the Duramboros being my favorite monster.
TheRSJstudio remember mountain size rust duramboros?? that was beautiful!
Actually he came inches from being on my list, I've been fighting him a lot and adoring his design.
He's my second favorite monster
the whole moss element of his design along with the tail mechanics are so fucking good
He's #6 on my top 10, but he doesn't make the cut for top 5.
My favorite monster is silverwind nargacuga because nargacuga was the flagship of the first monster hunter game I played (mhfu) and the silverwind just makes it even cooler
G Salemander exactly the Same opinion lol
I'm kinda disappointed that they nerfed Narga so much. I mean it happens to every flagship but it hit Narga the hardest.
I MEAN HE'S RARITY 2 DAMN IT!!! He deserves much better. Fuck you Brachydios for still being hard.
I dont think they really nerfed him. I think the problem is, that Nargacugas strength is speed, wich totally works in the old games. But nowadays the hunters are faster then him
Really liked this video, Gaijin! How about twisting it up a bit and doing “worst monsters“. Sure would be interesting!
Tanerickohoch1 it would be more least favourite since he said in the vid he likes all of them
1. Plesioth
2. Rajang
3. Furious Rajang
4. Plesioth
5. Lavasioth (just kidding, it's Rajang again)
Gravios
basarios (just a worse gravios)
it's 5 times Plesioth
You got me with the Plesioth. I actually believed your favorite monster was the meme machine.
My top five are probably
1. Rajang
2. Brachydios
3. Deviljho
4. Brute Tigrex
5. Giginox
As a SnS user, I really love the intense, fast-paced, aggressive monster fights.
the flagship of your first game you say?, where my Lagiacrus bois at :D
Ayyyyyy
I was actually thinking about that, and I started with Tri (as well?) and I don't really feel anything for Lagi! Alatreon is my favorite monster though, so theres at least something from my starting game.
I guess I really like Abyssal lagi though. Ivory was neat too. (:
TheTachyonRailgun My favorite from Tri is the Tropical Bird Queropeco I think?
Your goddamn right! He was the first monster that was really threatening, like when I first met him I was in a spot where the cutscene of him would end and he was to the right of me, it was quiet and then BOOM he turns his head, the music starts and Im like "Oh shit, shit, shit, shit. RUUUUN!"
just this giant buff leviathan with fockin electricity who wouldn't love to have to face and defeat that as a story-goal
2:02 God damn you. Every once in a while you play that audio clip in one of your videos and it gets me everytime. lol
Great video! My favorite by far is Gogmazios. Act of Gog scarred me, which made it so much sweeter when I beat it. Your daughter sounds adorable by the way.
Odds are no one will agree with my list but whatever, here it is regardless
5. Lagiacrus
Although MHF2 was my first game, I didn't really get super into the series because, well, just play that game, it's like darksouls on steroids. Anyway regardless, MH3 was the game that first made me monster hunter mad and Lagiacrus was such a memorable part of that, I remember fighting him on land and absolutely creaming him but then when he was in the water it was completely different story. Also bonus points for cool subspecies
4. Velocidrome
Another iconic monster in my past, and although I fought Giadrome first, I can't deny I prefer Velocidrome, besides being based on a dromeosaur and just looking cool, I have very fond memories of the Velocidome dual blades and suit, it felt soo amazing just slicing and dicing while looking like a blue raptor. I did something similar with the remombra suit but since that's a small monster it's not included here
3. Gobul
Ok ok, this is where my list gets weirder, idk why but I just love unusual creatures and gobul is no exception, it's like a monkfish pufferfish giant salamander hybrid with an anglerfish lure, not to mention the fact it blows up while enraged and can bury itself, it's just, SOO COOL
2. Gigginox
Most hate him, but I love him, the gigginox is fast and toxic and is legitimately terrifying, constantly producing eggs and having two heads aswell as looking like Venom while enraged and do I even need to mention that tundra theme, it sends chills down my spine just thinking about it. Also I've always found giggi kinda cute, idk why but still.
1. Khezu
Yep, I said it, I LOVE the khezu, sure he has no theme but, it's a flying electrical leech thing that swallows prey whole!
when I first fought this thing back in MHF2 it was quite easy because you could just sit on the log in the cave and just shoot at it and he couldn't touch you, so I farmed him like no tomorrow just for that hammer, aww that hammer, soo cool looking and sounding, I've slayed many a wyverns with that weapon and in every game it was available since, I always make a khezu hammer.
Also that ecology video is awesome
Ryaquaza 1 I like Khezu as well. My #1 favorite though is Lavasioth. Plesioth is another Monster that's among my favorites.
Pretty normal
4. That's a bit odd but ok
3. Unusually as well
2. Not as odd as as the other two if you ask me...
1. We need to have a talk
i remember doing that g-rank khezu over and over to get this stupid ass quality khezu meat or something dang hard times but at least it was challenging unlike monster hunter world
Ryaquaza 1 dude the kezu is the actual worst monster in the series
5. Great Jaggi (Aleays my first armor 'cause of its handy attack boost; also so much fun to slaughter and test the strength if my weapons on :P)
4. Tetsucabra (Used to really like Barroth, and this Monster filled the gap with its great armor still useful at the end of the corresponding rank)
3. Rathian (So much fun to slaughter as well)
2. Shagaru Magala (Never really got to G in 3U, so my first proper Land-based Elder Dragon, and boy was it fun)
1. Silverwind Nargacuga (Amazing to see this thing toss other hunters around while I dodge through it with my adept DB)
The flagship monster always has an element... um, Tigrex? Nargacuga?
Does Magala' frenzy count as an "element" or a status?
Status, clearly as it doesn't matter what armor you have on. (Resistances I mean)
tigrex's element is fear
A Pretty Cum Guy Well tigrex is the flagship of freedom 2 which was (in the west at least) the third monster hunter game afaik and that was a looong time ago, and i can't remember but didn't the narga have poison in mhfu already?
Tigrex element is rape
"He would explode all over you" uhhh, phrasing.
seth rosas On mah tits! WHAAAT.
As you say, my first flagship monster will always be my fave - Lagiacrus. I went into Tri blind, so the main guy popping up on an early gather mission was a great surprise :)
top 5 for me are
5. Malfestio (for having the funniest animations and being an interesting fight)
4. Nargacuga (for easy white sharpness and really big tells on its moves)
3. Seltas Queen (because bugs are cool)
2. Zinogre (because I main HH)
1. Barroth Obama (for the name and being like a dog that likes to get dirty)
Barroth Obama XD
Malfestio?
I'm speechless... someone actually like that *insert curse here* bird.
gotta fight barroth obama with the barack sedition SA
I think Malfestio would be awesome if there was some crazy version that made no sense with like blast element or something. Wait isn't there a deviant one in XX?
ewww seltas queen
My Top 5
5. Shagaru Magala
4. Mizutsune
3. Gigginox
2. Agnaktor
1. (Raging) Brachydios
Gunner confirmed other wise that last one would be weird hihi. (I am a gunner too XD)
DerBelmont Not at all. I love him, too. His armor is pretty great as well.
I never really understood why people like shagaru over gore
to me, it's almost the same monster, except it has those annoying purple fire pillars that come out of the ground...
Arhen Dante, Yeah...I am colourblind so that isn't an option for me ;P I stick to my guns hihi XD
"The flagship of you first game will always be special" It's Nargacuga for me and this is very true :)
My top 5
5.Zinogre
4.Tigrex
3.Goremagala
2.Bracydios
1.Nargacuga
however predictable this is my top 5
naracuga is my favorite too
Jonathan Cifuentes same freedom unite was my first
The screaming goat never gets old and always catches me off-guard
Best list i've seen so far.
Mine would be:
5. Agnaktor / Glacial Agnaktor
4. Nargacuga
3. Lagiacrus
2. Brachydios
1. Zinogre
We had specific quests tat were special to us
my top 5:
5. Zinogre
4. Jhen Mohran
3. Rathalos (with a bow or hammer its so much fun)
2. Alatreon (the music, the fight, sooooo good)
1. Ceadeus ( I started with MhTri and it was a blast when I saw him for the first time!)
Nice vid!
Your daughter is really adorable! x3
My top 5s are:
5. Zinogre
4. Tigrex
3. Lagiacrus
2. Gore Magala
1. Rathian
I like Rathian even more than Rathalos
I love how he did the Simpson's "doh" thing
That anniversary video... Pure nostalgia.
6:36
"Actually, not just the Savel Davel Joe"
GaijinHunter, 2017
yeessssss Falkkone is so amazing. love seeing his music in your videos. (his version of thw zinogre theme is my alarm clock xD)
My top 5
5. Akantor
4. Agnaktor
3. Seltas Queen
2. Gore Magala
1. Stygian Zinogre
My Top 5 Monsters:
5. Agnaktor (Same reason, was what got me into using a Lance. And was one of my first training monsters)
4. Alatreon (My first Elder Dragon, he's not hard most days with a good team. But back then, this Dark Prince was my first Elder)
3. Nargacuga (The TRUE monster that taught me that I need to understand monster's movements. Plus its a cute dragon cat!)
2. Rathalos (Oh this guy, love and hate him. Was the first monster I thought was hard but grew to love him for LS)
My top 5
5.Tigrex
4.Akantor
3.Ukanlos
2.Nargacuga
1.Lao Shan Lung
my favorite monster is the rajang it's just so beautifully powerful I love it.
it's 3:15 a.m. in the morning I'm working overnight and I get off at 5 a.m. and you decided to upload a video looks like I'm getting off late this morning again
What you were saying about the flagship monster of your first game being extra special is so true. My first MonHun game was MHTri and Lagiacrus is one of my all time favorite monsters.
when you said the plesioth I literally died xD
I literally died when his daughter started calling out bullshit on him. lol She is so fuckin adorable!
Is he japanese?
@@ttunu8343 his name is Adam Joseph Evanko so I do not know.
Barioth, started with Tri on Wii, made me switch from Lance to Great Sword.
Love that ice kitty.
One day I hope that deviants, variants, sub species and rare species will exist in a single game together. Imagine the mixed set possibilities in a game that packed.
But if they did, possibly remove the whole "deviant leveling system". If they were regular monsters with normal armor, that would be frickin dope!
tht'd b great as their last game in the series.
That plesioth joke got me I legit dropped my phone when you said that it was your favorite 😂
Aww, you don't like bnahabra? D: But it's armor is so daper!
That was adorable when you guys just burst out laughing and your daughter proceeds to call you dumb.
I think I liked way too much the hudge monsters so i could say :
5) Jhen-Mohran, because he's so badass that he makes sandstorms
4) Ceadeus, because he's like a divine spirit of water who cames from a miyazaki movie (and awesome ost)
3) Shagaru Magala, because i'm a 4u fanboy and i liked this battle soooo much that i wanted him to speak at the end, like the goar in Princess Mononoke ! I like the way he represent like a evil angel who spreads corruption. (also omg i love this end-of-the-world ost)
2) Teostra because he's soooooo badass, the concept of the explosive powder that he spread then he make a sparks with his teeth is way too cool, like a Roy Mustang monster ! (also best ost)
1) Gogmazios, because this is the best fight ever ! The arena makes a lot and the fact that you're with your bros from 4u ! And when he's pissed of and he starts to fly and you're like "omfg this thing can fly" then he start his tar-beam whithout aiming and this is the end of the world ! So fun.
3:24 So thats why I always loved the Tigrex! My first MH was Freedom 2
it is very hard to choose a top 5 monster, there are just too many good ones
like Khezu is the first monster to kick my ass in MHFU
Plesioth smack me from miles away
Hermitaur my fav punching bag
Rathalos cuz he is just so cool and scary at first when I played the original MH on ps2
Tigrex is insanely fun to fight
Narcuga is also one of the monster that taught me how to git gud, and also very fun to fight
Kushala Daora is so cool and super prolonged battle for the first few fight is surprisingly fun, I would never imagine I could enjoy a 40 minutes battle against one monster before
Kirin for its cool armor set
Lao Shan Lung, first time I hunt a gigantic godzilla feels so epic
Fatalis is just dayum
and the list could go on and on
にゃあエイリアンMeowAlien i like your list. I started playing on 2nd gen(mhfu) but i watched my cousins play the first mh game and i absolutely loved it!
Someone who finds Kush fun?!
It was super cool to hear that you started with Monster Hunter 3 G/Ultimate cause that's actually the first game I started with too! My friend showed it to me and got me hooked, and I've enjoyed the series since!
the most deadliest monster in the game is...: The veggie elder!!!
K.O.Tic! Isac Haha yup his invincibility is just on a whole other level
Also he's imo a better version of akantor and doesn't sound like an angry vacuum cleaner
3. Dalamadur - love the giant danger noodle, everything about it is just epic
2. Chameleos - blep
1-Lagiacrus
2-Zinogre
3-Barroth
4-Glavenus
5-Valphalk
gaijin hunter I love your videos, your channel is my monster hunter bible, thank you and greetings from Mexico!
Here is my top 5
5. Odogaron
4.lagiacrus
3.tigrex
2.Deviljo
1.Gore megala
YESSSSSS! I knew you'd choose Diablos
Best BGM, most aggressive, most entertaining fight and phases
I realy like the Khezu
In no order,
Molten Tigrex
Savage Deviljho
Barroth
Duramboros
Nibblesnarf
For the first, I totally agree on the reasons for Molten Tigrex
For the middle 3, I love me some brute wyverns!
I think you actually inspired me to learn lance.
my top 5
5 seregios
4 gore magala
3 narga
2 vafalk
1 mitzy the mitzune
and none of then (ok narga..) is in IB :(
I love the subtle humour GaijinHunter, great list with amazing explanations!
WHAT?! i honestly expected gogmazios to be your favourite...but i guess not XD
I know same!
+NSzajk I specifically said I wasn't including elders but I meant all final bosses
Gotcha. So it was an error on my listening skills. Lol great video though!
gaijin hunter oh i didnt hear that...my bad XD
(The abbysal being my only likeable underwater fight)
2.) Siregios, Out of the new monsters in MH4U, this bladed baddie really got my attention.
Thanks for the fun content Gaijin.
you caught me. yeah I'm up, I would say nargakuga personally. but that's cause freedom unite was my life way back when, and 3 ultimate
my top 5.
3. Jhen Moran
the fact that you fought this giant monster on a sand skimmer was so incredible to me and really made me realize how amazing monster hunter can be. (also it helped that the tutorial for the 4th game was you fighting another one of these guys.)
2. Gore Magala.
this was the first monster that a close friend and I got together to fight. we had gotten so good at hunting this monster we could track every move it made and would know where it would strike. if there was ever an endangered species in monster hunter, Gore would be on that list. (just saying)
Today is MHGens 1 year anniversary
Hehehe Whered he go
.

DOH
I think Rathalos would be mine.
Packed quite a punch in the first MH. Lots of memories grinding it in order to at least manage to kill it once *g*
Great video Gaijin!
no alatreon love?
I love ala but its not in my top 5. top 10 for sure though
Konchu is the best
Here is my list! (I do not count Elder Dragons)
5-- Rajang and Furious Rajang
4-- Glavenus
3-- Gore Magala
2-- Brachydios
1-- Zinogre and SSJ Zinogre
+Eugene Potter thanks and I'll have to listen to the rite of spring!
Personally:
5) Brachy
4) Nargacuga/Silverwind
3) Nakakos and Dalamadur/Shah
2) Diablos and Monoblos
1) Gore, Shagaru and Chaotic Magala
Hard to just choose one for a top five since I love their designs, their armor (Even if it sucks), weapons and battles!
My favorite monster is Molten Tigrex. I am glad you added it to your list!
you got my like in the minute 2:03 with that screem cold breath of gGlaciar Akgnator, but cool vid, i love it, gj dude xD
To make a list though:
1. Gore Magala/Shagaru Magala (can't decide which one I like better)
2. Deviljho
3. Astalos
4. Rathalos
5. Tetsucabra
Love your stuff btw!
this was pretty fun. Kudos for keeping in the wipes and stuff. here's mine.
5. Astalos
4. Nargacuga
3. Kirin
2. Deviljho
1. Sand Barioth
What's your equipment at 5:40 @gaijin hunter I'd love to know
loved that you put falkkone's theme for brachydios XD
I think what makes Deviljoh hard is that no matter how big the map and no matter how much distance you put between you and it, it instantly (or quickly) closes the gap. There is no safe distance to pop a quick pot. You either zone or time the pot with its attacks.
