Even though I hate the Rathalos, seeing how much he's grown, how much the series changed and how it affected him, and just how much care went into his design and the design of the Rathian puts a smile on my face. This is such a passionate series, and you can tell by just reading what the developers say in interviews.
In MH2, they added the ability to use items while the weapon was drawn. However, they didn't want to make a new animation for using the item, it seems, so to avoid the hunter stabbing themselves in he face when chugging a potion, they made them hold the sword in their other hand. That's what I think the reason is, anyhow.
I like that the SnS is left handed, there aren’t many left handed characters in games. Makes me sad that they made Link right handed, and I’m not even left handed.
Rathalos also had his fair share appearing in other games and I don't mean as Easter eggs or cameos. He appeared in Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, Final Fantasy 14 (and at the same time Monster Hunter World got one of their monsters called Behemoth) and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and in all of them you get to fight it! Not only he's the king of the skies but apparently master of time and space too XD
I love how there's that picture of Tokuda-san just covered in lizards, because that is exactly the type of person I'd expect to go on to direct a Monster Hunter game
Vipera217 Yeah it's not exclusive to Rathalos but it's still his theme (the official title is Roar / Rathalos), it even plays during his introduction cutscenes in 3U and 4U.
In the original MH game, none of the monsters had their own theme. It only had area themes. If you fought a monster in a specific area, you'd hear the theme of that area. It wasn't until MHF1 when we got the first ever monster to have its own theme; The Yian Garuga. From MH2 and onwards, Flagships, Elder Dragons, and just generally unique monsters would very often get their own theme that always played when fighting them. (Note: Fatalis and Lao-Shan technically had their own themes, but they were the only monsters fought in those areas back then, so I guess the area theme became their actual theme later on). Each area theme was designed with a specific monster in mind, however. The Forest & Hills theme was for Rathalos, the Jungle theme was for Rathian, the Desert theme was for Monoblos, the Volcano theme was for Gravios, and the Swamp theme was for Gypceros (of all the monsters to make a theme for...). The later games all had area themes designed for specific monsters as well (such as Deserted Island for Lagiacrus).
6:20 the two old rivals, King of the Skies and Lord of the Seas. I'm so happy that Monster Hunter Tri was my first game, even if it did have a lot of weapons and monsters missing compared to other titles.
I remember playing Monster Hunter World, my introduction into the series, and seeing its icon just zoom around the forest. I was scared shitless whenever it would pop up, but ever since I conquered it, those memories are now fond ones.

I fully understand this. I never was able to get a monster hunter game after tri, but it's the game that got me into the series. I have well over 500hrs into the game before they cut the servers.
You guys are speaking my language, put nearly 500 hours into Tri and could never get a console to play the others but with a PS4 and MHWorld coming out now I am ready to put another 1000 hours in. Already preordered xD
Yes! Finally a monster feature for my favourite monster. Ever since I got into Monster Hunter, I fell in love with this Wyvern. I always got his armor set, always capped out Greatsword, and would always kill the strongest Rathalos variation before moving onto the newest released game. The king of the Skies has always had a special place within my connection to gaming. His influence has even effected my perception of other games, causing me to think "Hey, this wyernic dragon reminds me of a Rathalos". Now to await Monster Hunter World, where I can once again challenge this majestic wyvern in all of my nerdy gaming personality. Let the hunt carry on fellow hunters!
Goldenaries 08 I have this same feeling...but with tigrex from monster Hunter freedom 2 psp, tigrex was the flag of 2 and after 2 was unite and dam that narga oooooof
I love how Rathalos is basically just a fire breathing dragon: what pretty much anyone and everyone would expect just from the word "dragon". And yet, Rathalos means so much more than just that. ... Though I wish Dreadking didn't exist. I hate being the one in randoms that always has to break his wings and then spam flash bombs every thirty seconds. xp
LITE Gold Ceadeus was spongy, but much more fun than the regular Ceadeus. Although, if the Ceadeus is your first Elder Dragon/HUGE monster fight, oh boy, you're in for a magical experience :D
Nido Hime yeah, both the rates were just awful looking. Those giant, goofy teeth, square faces, long necks, and spindly bodies were just so disproportionate and cartoony looking. The most recent designs are such a vast improvement.
Rathalos is cool, but he really ruined his reputation with me in MHFU with the incessant flying around the map while you twiddle your thumbs. Then he somehow managed to be even more obnoxious in Tri when he practically never hit the turf. The mission in MHFU where you fight both Raths is great for money farming though!
Honestly... That gunner from this very first opening movie seems like a real dick. He just hired some rookie hunters, told them that slaying a Rathalos would be a walk in the park rewarded with fame and glory and then just uses them as a bait so he can get a clear shot on the Wyvern...
He will always be my favorite monster of all time. I love always hunting him. Gives my nostalgia from the very first monster hunter. His design I fell in love with it. Red and black are my favorite colors and he fits everything for me. Hail to the king!!
These videos bring me back. Started on mh freedom then went back and played monster hunter and then every one in order since. Love the clips from the older games.
Notice in monster hunter world his Roar/scream (when enrage or grunts) is different unlike the MH freedom unite to MH4 I wish they kept his scream...or Roar
DGKsoulsofcats Yeah, both Rathalos and Rathian's roars are different for some odd reason. Not a fan of Rathalos nor Rathian, but one thing I always liked bout' them was their roar, which is a very menacing and beast like roar. Kinda sad that changed it in World. Doesn't sound as menacing nor beast like IMO.
im really enjoying these vids on specific monsters GaijinHunter, please keep them coming. For me the highlights are the back story and design changes that you talk about. Good job buddy!
Thank you for the video. First time I saw that MH4 Trailer I was so confused, but it turned out preety good in the end. Love your videos and your twitter feeds. Kepp it up.
I would like to see the rival to the rathalos, the lagiacrus, since the recent games that came out now has cemented, especially in stories, that the lagiacrus is rival to the rathalos. I would love to see the video on that monster
Xragon MH nope, the lagiacrus was made as a direct antithesis to the rathalos, from the attributes, design details, to how they are viewed as a whole. the titles and certain missions either in monster hunter or in MH stories make a clear distinction that the lagiacrus is the rival to the rathalos. sergios and astalos are made in the vain be creatures that are the same in skill, but never a real rival
well it kinda best summarized in the titles of the two beasts. rathalos being "king of the skies" and lagiacrus being "lord of the seas" and I could get how the sergios could be made to be a rival of sorts, but the lagiacrus is made to be everything against what the rathalos is, especially in contrast on weaknesses. also they are some of the first monsters to have 3 different subspecies, (tho not certainly the only ones or the last) they are also some of the few that have subspecies comparable to elder dragons in threat.
rath has only one subspecies the other is a rare one the silver rathalos and ofcourse the rare species are as strong as elders (I do know that) but did u know seregios has great fire resistense its back can only be hurt with flames and other parts won't hurt much which rathalos also can only be hurt in the back having 15% taking more damage there and yes seregios dont have much of subspiecies but they do have same amount of fire resistense to the same spot which raths rare species takes 5% damage in two parts but I wont pit a seregios against a rare species and yeah the lagi has a title opposing raths title but I dont blame u if u say that, capcom did make another flying wyvern as a rival which doesn't happen with most creatures it happens with other creatures
The Nintendo mobile game Dragalia Lost had a Monster Hunter crossover event featuring Rathalos and Dreadking Rathalos and even the Fatalis as bosses and unlockable Dragons. They even added the Rathalos and Fatalis weapons and designed a character variant of the Berserker with the Rathalos armor. I played through that event on a daily basis and unlocked all of what it had to offer. Long story short, it was a well crafted event worthy of the Monster Hunter legacy.
The Monster Hunter 4 concept trailer is actually very different to the actual game. The trailer is clearly trying to imply a seamless environment, but the areas shown got split up and changed into parts of the Ancestral Steppe, Everwood, and Sanctuary. The Tigrex also chased the hunter over land while the Rathalos pursued him on the cliff's edge and clearly attacked the Rathalos, features which wouldn't be seen until World or haven't yet been implemented. It also portrays mounting as seamlessly jumping on the monster's back - not at all how it worked in 4 with random occurrence on hit and cut to black. And of course the climbing knife attack is way too weak to reliably flinch anything and flying monsters don't even hover within range to try.
Sean it was a "proof of concept" sequence. Of course it would be a little bit different to the final game. Maybe the 3ds couldn't handle what they envisioned so it was toned down for the final game We wouldn't see exactly how it was in that video until MH world
It makes sense. I remember hearing that MH World was in development since the original MH4's release. In other words, 4th Gen MH to MH World is sort of like what 6th Gen Pokemon was to the 7th. They tested these ideas in separate games, see what works and what doesn't, then use that to improve the future game(s).
Sean dude we got 4 ultimate not 4, 4 is for Japan they are slightly different, also the concept completed most of what they showed: mounting, breaking structures, jumping from land to structure, rathalos getting damaged by the knife (btw this strat works with rath I've done it before and it also applies to khezu as well). They have done as much as they could have possibly done.
Haru17 Still, every feature in the trailer was present in the game individually. Tigrex/you could climb certain surfaces. Rathalos could accidentally attack another monster in it's efforts to get at you. There are areas that drop after heavy attacks, there are objects that get destroyed. There are areas that tip after heavy attacks, you can flinch monsters out of the air. There's mounting. The list of showcased elements goes on. Of course, everything happening back to back in the same area is absurd. But that's why it's a proof of concept.
Oh, man. I got into the series with Freedom Unite, but Tri holds a really special place in my heart for being my first home console release of the series. That intro video STILL gives me chills. Love that Rathalos redesign.
Here is my story about Rathalos. So my brother was the one who introduced me to the game since he was playing it on our PSP (MHF). So I kinda like made a new character for myself then decided to play it. When I reached the 4 star urgent which is the Rathalos, my brother told me that he hasn't gotten past him yet. So as someone who is in grade school at that time (I can't even remember how I got that far in the game lol), Rathalos was like THE MONSTER in this game for me. I think it spanned days maybe even weeks of carting and abandoning quests before I was finally able to beat him. I literally screamed and celebrated when Rathalos finally fell. As far as I can remember, it was the first time I felt so happy after slaying a monster. I also think this was the moment that I knew that I fell in love with the series :)
Playing MH since tri and tried some older games for psp for the last 10 years and rathalos is constantly someone I pay huge respect towards. I'm always some time later at a point where he isn't that much of a thread anymore but he still manages to uphold this respectable aura around himself. Really love him :)
I love the concept and design for Rathalos, but I hate fighting him. He’s just annoying. From the backstep into a fireball to the heat-seeking unavoidable poison claws, he's got a lot of bullshit attacks that you really can’t dodge. Dreadking is everything that’s wrong with Rathalos taken up to eleven. Rathian, on the other hand, is one of my favourite monsters, and Dreadqueen is my favourite of the Deviants. She’s a lot more fun to fight and the difficulty with her feels real, unlike with Rathalos where a lot of it feels artificial.
I feel like that's because Rathian spends more time on the ground as well, so you actually have a fair few chances to hit her if you're not using a big or ranged weapon. Meanwhile, Rathalos spends a ton of time in the sky so it's more difficult to hit it.
Rathalos is about waiting for him to attack first, and attacking him during the openings after his attacks, after you learned what his attacks are like. It's perfect to fight against.
The only reason I take longer to take down those pesky dreadking Los it’s because they ALWAYS have to change area every SINGLE minute, they just love to waste your time
And now, it's a boss in smash. Now I suppose I'll wait and see if Monster Hunter fans want a Hunter to be playable, or since Ridley was "too big" request for the Rathalos itself to become playable.
This the reason why I love Rathalos I mean he's already been crossovered in different games and everytime you see a Large Red Wyvern flying in the sky.... You know that its the world's Iconic Dragon of all time.
My most fav and my most hatered Monster from the very first Monster Hunter on PS2... P.S I know it weird butt im gonna miss my Prey Armor Velociprey Genprey Giaprey and Ioprey lol... Not my fav but i like them lol... Thank for the vid...
Jamison ...Too bad that in World, he stays airborne for an even LONGER period of time when you hunt it + more ways of f*ck*ng your sh*t up while flying + faster and more aggressive overall.
An old friend. I have a harder time fighting him nowadays than I did back in the Freedom days though... Either I got worse as an MH player somehow, or they've changed him enough to make it more difficult to fight him.
T C I think it might be something along those lines. Perhaps the introduction of hunter arts in MHGen led me to start making dumb decisions. Part of it might also be the fact that, well, this isn't the PSP anymore. Maybe I was just better when I did the claw than I am now with this lock-on stuff.
Sir Caco I actually stopped playing gen for awhile I played 4u again. I was getting my ass kicked at first but eventually got good again. I've also noticed people online are more likely to cart in 4u then gen.
T C Part of that is people in 4U rarely come prepared for G rank hunts: max potions, 10 potions, 10 mega potions, nullberries, etc. I also noticed a bad habit that a lot of people would do in 4U is they simply don't heal. They'll be at under 30%, given an opportunity where a monster is chasing someone else, and they still chase it down where the monster turns around and they promptly get killed.
They made male and female iterations of rath, taken from the word "wrath" meaning directed fury. Rathalos meaning male "rath" and Rathian meaning female "rath."
The los suffix doesn't mean anything in english, but in German it means the same thing as "less," meaning without (eg: hopeless). But in latin languages, "los" is a male suffix and "ian" is a female suffix.
My brother and I hunt together, and what really makes us a great team is the fact that we counter each other's weaknesses and bolster our strengths. He finds hunting Rathalos troublesome, and I find hunting the Rathian my problem, so in that sense we tackle that and make sure we come out on top! To make it even cooler, he wears full gold Rathian armor while I wear the full silver Rathalos set~ Monster hunter is fun, and sadly he won't be able to get a ps4 to join me in MH world, but this series truly means alot to me. So long story short, Rathalos is awesome.
I wouldn't, I don't like how the horns look. Old players are already hyped about the game so the cover doesn't matter, new players see a giant red wyvern that looks like a fantasy dragon.
Not every new monster, if you want some of the gameplay for MH:W he seems like the first big boss of the forest area. He wrecks everyone there or they just straight up run when he shows up.
Pokarot Ik.But he rules because Anjanath,Great Jagras and Kulu Ya Ku havent got wings, and Pukei Pukei and Tobi kadachi are afraid of him because they are smaller than it
Unpopular opinion here: rathalos and rathian can choke on their next herbivore prey and die. The fight is not very hard but downright disgusting. Dashing at you without warning, roar back jump fireball combo, endless flight(especially before MH3) the GPS homing poison kick of rathalos, and the double poison tail spin(she will chase you down and adjust her attack direction) of rathian really leave a sour taste in my mouth
*FINALLY!* Someone here who loves Seregios as much as I do! That thing was awesome, especially its fighting style. It behaves more like a hunter rather than your typical monster. Fighting it is always fun to me. Rathalos and Rathian can go get hunted to extinction by Deviljho for all I care.
Love this type of deep-dive video into a particular monster! Here’s hoping for more in the future! My Rathalos story has to do with the Silver Rathalos of Generations. I played MHGen a lot with my brother, together we blasted through all the low rank and almost all the high rank quests. But then we got to tier 7, with the arena quest for silver and gold, and... we just couldn’t do it. Try as we might the jerks kept 2-shotting us. I know if we kept at it we would have won after upgrading our gear a bit more, but that was the last semester we lived together at college. Soon after we moved away from each other, and haven’t played mhgen together since. So the Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian are just “the ones that got away,” I guess.
They've been awesome fights since I started playing in Tri. It just feels so good to dodge that tail spin attack, roll out of the way of Rathian's backflip, sever, and flash bomb drop them from the air.
Except for a small error detail im sure they just forgot about, but the Main Logo for the series at 4:20 is actually the old gen 1-2 Rathian model standing on the logo. Instead of Rathalos. But afterwards im guessing they removed her from it caise she wasnt the face of MH anymore. Since rathalos took that spot.
Yes !! I'll say it on each of your videos that focuses on the "lore" of MH : KEEP DOING IT aaaand do more. The MH lore is rich and interesting so it deserves quality coverage and that's what your're doing. Narga/Tigrex/Villages/Guild emblem all theses videos are great.
True. Rathalos is the punching bag of the large Wyvern family. Lagiacrus butts heads with it, Seregios and its species are regularly known to injure (and maybe even kill) Rathalos and Rathian, Astalos also wrecks its shit.
Rathalos is my favorite monster ever ❤ Is all started one summer when i was a child, i went to a friends house and they were playing on a PSP i checked their screen and there they were... they said they were playing "Monster Hunter", they were at a map filled with hills and grass, and was fighting of a big dragon!! with the color of red and black (colors that i am obsessed with at that aged) time has passed and they brought me into Hunting with them, making me fall inlove with the franchise, specially Rathalos, i love his color scheme, my favorite element is fire, his design is so cool, it has been my favorite ever since, and will ever be... years have passed and my top 1 favorite monster ever, was the very first monster i saw, the king of the sky
Back then, in the first Monster Hunter, I was feeling bored because I have to go do an egg quest. That was my very first egg quest too. But then I met the Rathalos for the first time. I just dropped the egg and tried to engage him. Every single one of my attacks bounced so I ran away
EdgyZiggy9538 When Khezu starts to spamming that "Chidori Nagashi" omg, it's so fucking annoying, mainly when you are using a slow weapon like GS, that you don't have much time to dodge, Khezu is also tank as f*ck... But i don't know, i think i hate Rathalos more than Khezu... When you need to drink life potions and Rathalos don't stop flying and throwing fireballs... And when you want hit his head and he don't stop running over you like you're a piece of shit
Old Rathalos looks like what we used to think dinosaurs would look like but now with all the knowledge that we have the new Rathalos looks much more like a bird than this old counterparts
This brings me some heavy feels! While playing the original Monster Hunter when it came out on the ps2 and I only knew Rathalos as "wyvern", since it was the way it was called up to point where you got the quest to hunt him. I was scared as f*ck of him, and now, after almost 10 years of playing Monster Hunter, I can see the evolution in my playing as I hunt Rathalos very easily. If someone is thinking something is too hard, just stick with it for some time, trying and trying, and at some point, you will achieve what you want and will look back fondly of how you started it all, that's my message to anyone who's facing something hard right now: don't give up, try your best! And if it doesn't work out the first time, try it again and again, until you're finally able to achieve it :)
Rathalos is my favourite monster. It walled me in the original game for literal months. I didn't have online so had no option of gaining better gear outside of the singleplayer stuff. I was finally able to beat it with bombs, lots of healing & just plain luck. Its armour & weapons are some of the best looking in the series also. For me, when I beat Rathalos in a Monster Hunter game, that's when the game has truly begun.
I'm surprised you didn't mention that the Monster Hunter in MVCU even wears the Rathalos armor set, one that for sure is iconic for hunters across the world.

I love Rathalos, I remember being terrified by him in the first MH game when he appeared during the first egg quest!

I had THE SAME experience
I remember that too! I came in on the PSP freedom version.
Just Gaming Things I didn't even wait. My naive 13-14 year old ass thought I could take him.. I was wrong.
Damn i literally sweat my ass just to run away with that egg 😂
"They didn't want the main monster to rely on status ailments."
Oh? Is that why they gave Rathalos both fire AND poison just like the Rathian? 😂
He didn't rely on it though, he'd hit like a truck and then throw status at you.
_never underestimte the power of _*_air attacks_*
Its more annoying when they gave him poison talons abd he spams the scratches
To be fair, Rathalos would rather spam fireballs and pin you to the ground
And then he smacks you around, while poisoning you, lighting you on fire, and then hitting you harder as you try to run away and heal.
Even though I hate the Rathalos, seeing how much he's grown, how much the series changed and how it affected him, and just how much care went into his design and the design of the Rathian puts a smile on my face. This is such a passionate series, and you can tell by just reading what the developers say in interviews.
It's not Monster Hunter if there's no Rathalos...

when rathalos starts flying and the tri theme kicks in, all i can think is “fly you beautiful bastard, you deserve it”
too bad Rathalos is the only flagship to not have his own theme :(
Actually, the forest and hills theme is Rathalos's theme, just like how the deserted island theme is Lagiacrus's theme
but he could have a more signature thing like narga or tigrex
Cer0 yet the theme is used for any other than Elders. also F&H theme is similar to Fatalis without the vocals
Vipera217 Yeah it's not exclusive to Rathalos but it's still his theme (the official title is Roar / Rathalos), it even plays during his introduction cutscenes in 3U and 4U.

TheGamingLizard Yay, soloing that thing took me almost 49 min xD. Tbh harder than Gold Ceadius
LITE Gold Ceadeus was spongy, but much more fun than the regular Ceadeus. Although, if the Ceadeus is your first Elder Dragon/HUGE monster fight, oh boy, you're in for a magical experience :D
I don’t. The underwater fights with that prick were aggressively unfun.
Thank you for this video Gaijin! I love Rathalos he’s my number one favorite and the one that introduced me to the series!
tell me
how many times have i been hunted by you
*kills Rathian for the first time
"Wait till my husband hears about this"
"Your what?"
I may be alone on this, but the Rathalos design was very much in need of a redo from the first game. It just looked really goofy to me.
The Wolf of Comedy Not goofy, but HORRIBLE. It looks terrible in previous installments.
It's the long neck and rectangular face that gets me.
Rathian was even worse.
Nido Hime yeah, both the rates were just awful looking. Those giant, goofy teeth, square faces, long necks, and spindly bodies were just so disproportionate and cartoony looking. The most recent designs are such a vast improvement.
Atleast world made it slightly better
Rathalos is cool, but he really ruined his reputation with me in MHFU with the incessant flying around the map while you twiddle your thumbs. Then he somehow managed to be even more obnoxious in Tri when he practically never hit the turf.
The mission in MHFU where you fight both Raths is great for money farming though!
I love how the Rathalos is depicted so Majestic and Elegant from 5:46 to 6:56, but special mention in 6:46
Honestly... That gunner from this very first opening movie seems like a real dick. He just hired some rookie hunters, told them that slaying a Rathalos would be a walk in the park rewarded with fame and glory and then just uses them as a bait so he can get a clear shot on the Wyvern...
that's what hunting with Randoms basically is
He will always be my favorite monster of all time.
I love always hunting him.
Gives my nostalgia from the very first monster hunter.
His design I fell in love with it.
Red and black are my favorite colors and he fits everything for me. Hail to the king!!
Rathalos's air charge is absolutely a pain
defying gravity since 1939
Or a joke if you bring flash bombs x)
What about stunning you with his roar and then immediently shooting a fireball before you have a chance to move?
TheRwbyKing 2014 air charge deals more damage and it has that poisoning affect on you
Imperfect i only use great sword lol
*hears the theme of MH Tri*
Holy fuck the tears ;w;
Good stuff man here's hoping it gets some views before they de monitize it like everything else lately
These videos are exactly what I was looking for. Awesome!!!
"+60% power when enraged - LOL RIP you" made me laugh quite a bit.
DGKsoulsofcats I know what you mean, it's like that for all monsters 😭😭😭 I miss the scream plus particle affect when they scream
Underwhelming af...!
Damn that MH4 concept thing was really cool! And same with the Rathalos PS4, guitar, motorcycle and glasses. Makes me wanna buy all of em lol
At 6:01 ... Was that your daughter?
im really enjoying these vids on specific monsters GaijinHunter, please keep them coming. For me the highlights are the back story and design changes that you talk about. Good job buddy!
Hearing that very first opening theme made me cry tears of nostalfia XDDDD
Thank you for the video. First time I saw that MH4 Trailer I was so confused, but it turned out preety good in the end. Love your videos and your twitter feeds. Kepp it up.
I just Love how the lagiacrus goes back to the sea After ther rathalos flys in the air (the mh tri cutscene)
I love this video, as a newcomer to the MH series, videos like this really help to fill in the blanks.
Howling zinogre plz
FINALLY! this monster feature appear, been waiting for the mascot monster :D
I would like to see the rival to the rathalos, the lagiacrus, since the recent games that came out now has cemented, especially in stories, that the lagiacrus is rival to the rathalos. I would love to see the video on that monster
huhh? I thot seregios was its rival
Xragon MH nope, the lagiacrus was made as a direct antithesis to the rathalos, from the attributes, design details, to how they are viewed as a whole. the titles and certain missions either in monster hunter or in MH stories make a clear distinction that the lagiacrus is the rival to the rathalos. sergios and astalos are made in the vain be creatures that are the same in skill, but never a real rival
well the MH fandom wiki does say the seregios was made to be its rival and I never heard/got results that lagi is raths rival
well it kinda best summarized in the titles of the two beasts. rathalos being "king of the skies" and lagiacrus being "lord of the seas"
and I could get how the sergios could be made to be a rival of sorts, but the lagiacrus is made to be everything against what the rathalos is, especially in contrast on weaknesses. also they are some of the first monsters to have 3 different subspecies, (tho not certainly the only ones or the last) they are also some of the few that have subspecies comparable to elder dragons in threat.
rath has only one subspecies the other is a rare one the silver rathalos and ofcourse the rare species are as strong as elders (I do know that) but did u know seregios has great fire resistense its back can only be hurt with flames and other parts won't hurt much which rathalos also can only be hurt in the back having 15% taking more damage there and yes seregios dont have much of subspiecies but they do have same amount of fire resistense to the same spot which raths rare species takes 5% damage in two parts but I wont pit a seregios against a rare species and yeah the lagi has a title opposing raths title but I dont blame u if u say that, capcom did make another flying wyvern as a rival which doesn't happen with most creatures it happens with other creatures
Maybe the 3ds couldn't handle what they envisioned so it was toned down for the final game
We wouldn't see exactly how it was in that video until MH world
It makes sense.
Looks like mhw wannabe
8:36 A motorcycle? HELLA YES PLEASE BABY
Biggest take away from this is that Monster Hunter's cinematic openings have always looked fantastic.
Lagiacrus next?
反乱ドラゴニック I'd prefer Fatalis
In mh stories it is literally the first dragon you will befriend and lose.
It's perfect to fight against.
so this is why she took the kids
The only reason I take longer to take down those pesky dreadking Los it’s because they ALWAYS have to change area every SINGLE minute, they just love to waste your time
Man...i love every content you make....keep it up!!
And now, it's a boss in smash.
Now I suppose I'll wait and see if Monster Hunter fans want a Hunter to be playable, or since Ridley was "too big" request for the Rathalos itself to become playable.
That guitar looks SICK!
Rathalos:"I'm king of the skies"
Valstrax:"Baby, hold my beer"
I love this kind of video !
My favorite on your channel I think ;)
Ratharos in the first monster hunter sucks
He spet 70% of the fight flying around just to wasting my time
so basically the world one then
Rathalos is such an amazing monster. Great design not too hard but hard enough and his gear is awesome
Rathalos is similar to Charizard because they are both the flashships of the first games and some of the sequels.
AJ the Dragon Slayer but charizard ain't the flagship of the series it self like are boy is
Kian Hopkins and they both only LOOK like dragons
midnight beast Well, Charizard IS a full fledged Dragon (four legged + wings).
Rathalos is a Wyvern (two legged + wings), not a Dragon.
ShadowBlazero A wyvern is a type of Dragon, where there are other types like Wurms, Drakes, Serpents, wingless "Earth Dragons"...
ShadowBlazero Charizard have 2 arms, a pair of wings and 2 legs, not 4 legs. How to hell did you see Charizard as four legged dragon?!
This the reason why I love Rathalos I mean he's already been crossovered in different games and everytime you see a Large Red Wyvern flying in the sky.... You know that its the world's Iconic Dragon of all time.
dragon 4 legs. wyvern 2 legs
My most fav and my most hatered Monster from the very first Monster Hunter on PS2...
P.S I know it weird butt im gonna miss my Prey Armor Velociprey Genprey Giaprey and Ioprey lol... Not my fav but i like them lol...
Thank for the vid...
Hatered? Hahaha bruh
Azure Rathalos Lmao...
シ
ッ
*Hated,despised, loathsome
4:30 oh man i remember seeing this on ps2 and being like: "omg this game is amazing" ... god i love monster hunter
Hope this realization for how Rathalos works comes out well, as of right now, hes an objectively bad fight who needs a serious makeover.
Jamison ...Too bad that in World, he stays airborne for an even LONGER period of time when you hunt it + more ways of f*ck*ng your sh*t up while flying + faster and more aggressive overall.
how is it bad though? he isn't even hard? you can easily take a rathalos down, its only when you get to Silver Rath that he actually becomes annoying.
ShadowBlazero he flys more but hes actually more fun to fight now he doesnt spam moves anymore
Blazero I feel like he's easier in world, I haven't had a problem with him
>azure rathalos
I hope for you that this won't get demonetized :3 Nice video :D
An old friend. I have a harder time fighting him nowadays than I did back in the Freedom days though...
Either I got worse as an MH player somehow, or they've changed him enough to make it more difficult to fight him.
Sir Caco maybe the fact he's only on the ground 3% of the time?
Sir Caco did you change weapons? Or mabye you're actually doing similar or better but you expect do much from yourself.
T C
Part of that is people in 4U rarely come prepared for G rank hunts: max potions, 10 potions, 10 mega potions, nullberries, etc. I also noticed a bad habit that a lot of people would do in 4U is they simply don't heal. They'll be at under 30%, given an opportunity where a monster is chasing someone else, and they still chase it down where the monster turns around and they promptly get killed.
That Rathalos guitar tho.....
So how did they make the English name?
AJ the Dragon Slayer I'm gonna assume it was a mix of rath and laus or laos I dunno how its spelled
They made male and female iterations of rath, taken from the word "wrath" meaning directed fury. Rathalos meaning male "rath" and Rathian meaning female "rath."
Im pretty sure suffix "los" also means something but cant quite remember :P
The los suffix doesn't mean anything in english, but in German it means the same thing as "less," meaning without (eg: hopeless).
But in latin languages, "los" is a male suffix and "ian" is a female suffix.
My brother and I hunt together, and what really makes us a great team is the fact that we counter each other's weaknesses and bolster our strengths.
He finds hunting Rathalos troublesome, and I find hunting the Rathian my problem, so in that sense we tackle that and make sure we come out on top! To make it even cooler, he wears full gold Rathian armor while I wear the full silver Rathalos set~
Monster hunter is fun, and sadly he won't be able to get a ps4 to join me in MH world, but this series truly means alot to me.
So long story short, Rathalos is awesome.
I rather have Nergigante as cover :/
Mattias Same here.
I wouldn't, I don't like how the horns look. Old players are already hyped about the game so the cover doesn't matter, new players see a giant red wyvern that looks like a fantasy dragon.
Wyvern, Dragon, Giant fore breathing lizard with wings. All wyverns are dragons, not all dragons are wyverns.
Mattias Nobody loves Nergigante ._.
People hate it because its Spike range and damage
Reno Kyrieleos We don't hate Nergigante; we just already adore the King of the Skies.
Rathalos: 'sees Aptonoth'
Aptonoth: O shit here we go again.
Rathalos: Finally some good fuckin food
Rathalos? You mean the Red Rathian Subspecies right?
SupertankerZambdaMK3 rathalos is the male. Rathian is female
Shaina Baquiran Wait a second, every Rathian existent are female?
Rathian and rathalos are the same species, the difference is the gender
Lol Tigrex at 7:36. He's the king of slapstick comedy.
Rathalos, that powerful monster Who get kicked by every new monster :v
Not every new monster, if you want some of the gameplay for MH:W he seems like the first big boss of the forest area. He wrecks everyone there or they just straight up run when he shows up.
Pokarot Ik.But he rules because Anjanath,Great Jagras and Kulu Ya Ku havent got wings, and Pukei Pukei and Tobi kadachi are afraid of him because they are smaller than it
Azure Rathalos curbstomped Seregios, it was only Astalos that set the scales.
Really Pissed Off Planet Earth you forgot lagiacrus rathalos flew away like a bitch lmao
+Timothy Trevino True but against Lagiacrus, the game would have been pretty even if Rathalos actually picked a fight with it.
Great video dude, hopefully UA-cam gets their deal together and stop demonetizing people’s videos who don’t deserve it
Unpopular opinion here: rathalos and rathian can choke on their next herbivore prey and die.
I'm the faithful supporter of seregios. Wish one day the two rath will not return, and NOT STEALING THE COVER AGAIN
OpswhyYou its the mascot...its like the t-rex from jurassic park
Unpopular opinion here: I absolutely despise rathalos and rathian
same here
Not unpopular. Fighting them fucking sucks.
They my favs lol
But I'm all for having personal opinions
They've been awesome fights since I started playing in Tri. It just feels so good to dodge that tail spin attack, roll out of the way of Rathian's backflip, sever, and flash bomb drop them from the air.
Same
Except for a small error detail im sure they just forgot about, but the Main Logo for the series at 4:20 is actually the old gen 1-2 Rathian model standing on the logo. Instead of Rathalos.
But afterwards im guessing they removed her from it caise she wasnt the face of MH anymore. Since rathalos took that spot.
Rajang next
I don't understand why he's still the "king of the sky" when other flying wyverns have beat the shit out of him.
True. Rathalos is the punching bag of the large Wyvern family. Lagiacrus butts heads with it, Seregios and its species are regularly known to injure (and maybe even kill) Rathalos and Rathian, Astalos also wrecks its shit.
🤨
Rathalos is my favorite monster ever ❤
Is all started one summer when i was a child, i went to a friends house and they were playing on a PSP i checked their screen and there they were... they said they were playing "Monster Hunter", they were at a map filled with hills and grass, and was fighting of a big dragon!! with the color of red and black (colors that i am obsessed with at that aged)
time has passed and they brought me into Hunting with them, making me fall inlove with the franchise, specially Rathalos, i love his color scheme, my favorite element is fire, his design is so cool, it has been my favorite ever since, and will ever be... years have passed and my top 1 favorite monster ever, was the very first monster i saw, the king of the sky
Dont like rathalos
What's funny, i prefer to hunt a Dalamadur rather than a Silver Rathalos.
The only reason to hate Rathalos
His combat move
You all wrong all hail rathalos!!
Spicey Lama Well you are not wrong i love this true MH Mascot
But the only thing i hate is its Attack especially the Air attack
why?! ):(
I know its your opinion but there has to be a reason why! I mean, who DOESN'T LOVE RATHALOS???
Back then, in the first Monster Hunter, I was feeling bored because I have to go do an egg quest. That was my very first egg quest too. But then I met the Rathalos for the first time. I just dropped the egg and tried to engage him. Every single one of my attacks bounced so I ran away
jotaro was better than you
Most boring and lame monster in the game. (Fight wise)
At least its weapons and armors are cool. :D
You've never fought the Khezu? Fucking hate that leech
EdgyZiggy9538 Khezu is a pool party filled with hot chicks compared to Rathalos... just saying..
*_Khezu is an abomination. Also, step on a lego, stub ya toe,and step on ya own foot and smack ya face on a wall_*
-a n g e r y-
EdgyZiggy9538 When Khezu starts to spamming that "Chidori Nagashi" omg, it's so fucking annoying, mainly when you are using a slow weapon like GS, that you don't have much time to dodge, Khezu is also tank as f*ck... But i don't know, i think i hate Rathalos more than Khezu... When you need to drink life potions and Rathalos don't stop flying and throwing fireballs... And when you want hit his head and he don't stop running over you like you're a piece of shit
i fucking hate khezu
Great video, thanks for putting so much effort into it. If you take any suggestions, i would like to see a Monster Feature of Lagiacrus and Gigginox!
