Thanks for sharing Kendra! I did the same hacks before searching UA-cam to see if there was something else out there. Tooth picks are a great touch and I noticed you're now using a hairpin, love it! I've used the round plastic swizzle sticks before as they are less likely to break into the machine, but I like the bobby pin idea even more.
I love how you stated, "I am NOT unscrewing anything!" Totally agree with you. I actually got the "Freedom Clip" from Amazon and it works great. I now use any brand or variety I want with no tinkering with my machine. It took me a few tries to get it in properly, cause all the videos I saw you could not see where and how they were doing it well enough, but I finally got it in just the right place, and it just snapped on! No cutting wires, unscrewing things or messing with my machine in any way!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Kendra for this great idea to make a 12 ounce cup of coffee. I tried it with a toothpick and it worked. So I decided to use something a little more sturdy so I used a plastic zip strip. IT WORKS!
ok I don't know how you figured this out but HOLY CRAP, IT WORKED! I just unlocked all menu options...with a toothpick. mind blown! Thanks for the video :) You just made my day :)
Thank you. I am getting my first Keurig for Christmas and I am trying to learn as much as I can before I receive it. There is more than I thought to learn . Have a wonderful day and everyone have a Merry Christmas .
The ONLY hacks I've found online that work with the brand new (I got it on 9/11/15) K250 (read "K250 model") 2.0 Keurig machine are cutting the top off of a Keurig disposable K-Cup, then cutting it in half and attaching it the left-hand side of the top of a reusable K-Cup (I bought a "Brew & Save" brand reusable K-Cup at Walmart. It works fine). Black "Gorilla" tape is quite strong and holds the Keurig 1/2-top in place on the lid of the reusable K-Cup, even when you rinse it off under the faucet. I wouldn't expect the tape to necessarily hold if you put it in the dishwasher though. I tried removing the 2 screws and the plastic top of the machine to see if I could do the permanent hacks of cutting the green optical sensor wire and removing the magnetic switch so as to get the full menu at all times with any K-Cup/K-Carafe. The lid is made differently from previous machines and is much more of a hassle to remove. It has a clamp that snaps over a tab in the back. I put a couple of small scratches at the back end of the top of the lid getting it off. Some prying is involved when both removing it and putting it back on because of the plastic clamp design. Once off, there are 10 tabs in all in the K250 (I believe) holding the top & bottom halves of the assembly together that houses the magnetic switch inside, and they run along the outer ridge of the assembly all the way to the back of the machine where the water tube and wire bundle are - twice the number of clips than are shown in the UA-cam video for this hack, which was done on a different machine. Also, when I tried to pry ANY of the clips off of the tabs with a small, flat-blade screwdriver, they started to split immediately before I could get them to release the tabs, leaving me feeling that trying to open the assembly and take out the magnetic switch MIGHT leave you with NO clips leftover to snap the tabs back into again afterwards. Keurig REALLY built the new K250 NOT to be disassembled! It's possible to do it, but I'm not willing to risk snapping off retainer clips trying to unclip 10 clips to get at the magnetic switch. If someone else can upload a video for the K250 showing how to do the permanent hacks without permanently breaking the machine, I hope you will. Meanwhile, the hack where you color white paper with a Neon fine point Sharpie marker and tape it to the hole under the top also DOES NOT WORK with this machine. I tried both the yellow and orange neon markers, and when I put the reusable K-Cup in the machine WITHOUT taping the Keurig lid on top of it, the machine came back with its "Oops! The machine will not work with this cup", you have to use a Keurig one, etc., message. I tried taping the colored paper over the hole in the back as the videos show, then the hole in front, then both holes. This hack does not work regardless. The hack where the girl put a toothpick down inside the cup holder to keep the magnet under the switch to get the full menu without having to use a Keurig K-Carafe cup also didn't work because the K250 simply does not have any hole into which you can place a toothpick. The hack where you place a magnet in the holder under the magnetic switch in the machine DID work to bring up the full menu while using a K-Cup instead of a K-Carafe, so that's useful it you want all of the menu options, including the carafe option (No. 1), to customize your cup of coffee, tea, etc. The magnet needs to be of at least "refrigerator magnet" strength to close the switch inside the machine and bring up the full menu. I tried a weaker magnet, but no go. You have to remove the magnet, of course, when you put a K-Carafe size cup in the brewer. Be careful - there are gaps next to where you put the magnet into which it can fall down inside the assembly, and I had to unplug the machine and turn it upside down to get it out again. I also had to use a toothpick with a piece of tape on it to grab the magnet. I've put a small strip of Gorilla tape on the magnet now to both hold it in place in the machine, and to provide a length of tape leading off of it to take it out of the machine without dropping it inside again. There are also aftermarket K-Carafe size reusable cups you can buy that are supposed to fit the 2.0 machines. I'm hoping I can put a regular Keurig K-Cup lid on top of one of those, put it in the machine, and then just use option 1 for carafe brewing, rather than having to cut and attach a Keurig lid from a K-Carafe cup onto the reusable carafe cup to get it to work. I shouldn't have to do that based on my testing so far. Additionally, the K250 does not have a built-in clock, so you can't do programmable brewing. It also does not have "Favorites" in its menu where you can save customized settings. It does not come with its own carafe either, so you have to buy one separately. I bought the Keurig thermal one. When brewing a carafe, the K250 stops at 28 ounces, even though the carafe can hold 32 ounces. The manual says you'll get "about 30 ounces" using the carafe setting. I hope after reading this that people will upload new videos showing how to successfully, and even permanently, override the electronics in the K250 2.0 model so you can use any brand or reusable K-Cup/K-Carafe you want. Last note: The sales representative did say Keurig is supposed to be coming out with a compatible reusable K-Cup this fall for this machine. I asked about a K-Carafe size reusable one, but they said there were no current plans to come out with one of those. We'll see if they follow through on either.
I did tape the top to my refillable filter and it worked great. Also, when you use bobby pin it works better when you put it between the two holes so it holds it back. Much in the same way the magnet did. Hope this helps.
I was so excited to try this hack this morning. It worked well, but when I attempted to brew a 14 oz cup from the unlock menu, I had the same mess that others described when utilizing the toothpick. Thanks for your video, Kendra.
Thank you so much. I just got done watching videos on these hacks. One was removing the magnet from the top housing, which required cutting the wires and then electrical taping them for safety. The second was for the visual sensor, it required opening up the top housing, risking breaking the 5 clips, then cutting the wire to the visual sensor. Obviously there is no warranty the second you do that. Granted, mine has been expired forever, no big deal. BUT...the risk of damaging my keurig is huge and I don’t want to do that. Did it on my last keurig, also warranty expired, but inadvertently did something wrong, and hence, I have my keurig 2.0 now. My old keurig is spare parts. So, thank you for these hacks, I’m grateful. I always use fresh coffee and I’m so sick of having to open and close it ten times before it will brew because I don’t have the proper kcup in it. You just relieved me of an anxiety I have experienced multiple times every single day for 2 years. In addition, you relieved me of the worry that I was going to damage my keurig again, then not have one at all. I cannot afford to buy another one right now. So, I just want you to know how grateful I am that you took the time to make and post this video. Know that you REALLY helped me more then I can explain. My mornings are going to be so much better now, no fighting with my keurig for 10 minutes for 1 cup. Bless your heart dear. I am so excited to use both these hacks, even more excited to get that cup right away, no error messages. I’m just thrilled right now. I love my keurig. But I don’t love the premade cups, or the expense. I buy beans, I grind my coffee when I’m ready to have a cup, I fill my little refillable cup, it tastes far better. Those premade cups are such a waste of money. 1 little bag of coffee lasts me a few weeks and costs $7. Starbucks or Peet’s brand. Those premade cups you buy, if they are the good brands like Starbucks or Peet’s, they average about $1 to $2 per cup. Using the lower cost, If you have 2 cups per day it’s $2. Per week it’s $14, per month it’s $60. But, I have found, on average, that people usually drink more then that. And they waste some too. So, double those numbers at the very least. $4 per day, $28 per week, $120 per month. WOW!!! Still, those numbers are low. It is far better to buy whole beans, grind it fresh every day, use refillable kcups, BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AS WELL, and most importantly, the taste is so much better. Do a test at home. Grab Starbucks house blend in a kcup and a whole bean. Prepare both and taste it. You will be amazed at the amazing difference in flavor. The kcup will have a bitter end to it that the fresh does not. Just try it. This information is my gift to you, for the gift you gave to me by posting this video. I really appreciate it. Have an absolutely beautiful day.
I had some real issues sticking something down in there like that. It doesn't puncture the cup correctly. The magnet is pretty easy as far as a hack, and everyone has a magnet (most likely) in one of the bottom corners of their shower curtain. I cut one out of mine (we're changing it out anyway), and used it with a small piece of packing tape to hold it in place. Works like a charm, with no toothpick or other foreign item stuck down in there to get the full menu.
I had a Keurig 2.0 K300 screen went out. So I purchased the Keurig K400. I took the magnet out of the K300 and put it in the slot where the magnet go. Perfect fit and made for that spot
Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!!! I hated this new machine mostly because I want my 12 oz coffee and could not get it! I never knew there was a "master menu" who knew lol????? You are a genius!
Sweet! I didnt have a tooth pick so I used a broken piece of a chop stick that fit & it WORKED! lol yes a broken piece of a chop stick!! lol. Much more simple than all other videos I've seen. Thanks for posting!
i just upgraded from the small one to the k500. tjis was a deal breaker until this video i was going to return it and continue on with my old one. thanks
Kendra, I bought the very first 2.0 brewer that came out. I love the toothpick idea, but my brewing contraption doesn't have the hole yours does that the tooth pick goes into... very excited to learn you can actually take that part out to clean. Thx for the video. I've had it 2 years now and still haven't had a chance to read the book!
Good job on this video. Easy to understand👍🏻 I use to have the Keruig Vue and was able to make a 18oz mug size of coffee can I do that with this coffee maker? Thanks in advance
This worked like a dream on my new Keurig 450, but I made one small change. I don't want to have to remember to take out a toothpick every few brews, so instead I used a sewing pin. It fits perfectly, falls just far enough down that I can still see it and close the lid. Plus, I never have to replace it because it won't get soft like the toothpick! :)
Just wanted to say....AWESOME KENDRA....I tried the other video with the magnet and I couldn't get it to work. Frustrated I saw your video choice and tried the toothpick and waalaa...it worked. So, thank you so much for giving me a choice Kendra. :)
Thanks so much for this great video, I just got one of the machines as a gift and wanted a 14oz cup of my own coffee and didn't want to damage my machine. I feel like your video was a excellent find. THANKS for sharing.
I did this with my reusable cup. I just superglued the top onto my cup. Works great. Might have to try the toothpick hack too. Thanks for the knowledge.
that's cool. I didn't know it had them features. I was like how many kcups make a pitcher of coffee. it makes no sense to have a pitcher and only get 10 oz. so that's awesome. thanks
Awesome instructional video! Thank you! I was tired of being able to brew only 10 oz at a time and the K-Carafe pods cost a fortune. I like the convenience of the pre-measured pods and buy the K-Cups on eBay at 1/2 price for 50 cents a pod. Much better to brew 14 oz
+Chris Lima You need to be sure it's the lavender color. For some reason, it reads it as a regular cup. Some generic K-cups have a purple ring on them, and they work in my K350 fine. I have the purple reuseable cup and it works fine, too. If you have a different color one, just tape a lid from an official Keurig K-cup on top so it always reads it as a real cup.
+Richie Quiniones i purchased a Brew and save Brand refilable filter Carafe size made for all kurig 2.0 models at walmart for about 8$. you can use your own coffee and brew 1 cup or a pot. by useing the caraf size refilable filter it opens up all the brewing options of the machine. Also you can use any brand k-cup all you need to do is put the k-cup in the machine close it open it so the k-cup top and bottom holes are poked put the k-cup in the carafe size refilable filter close it and brew using any brew option you want...it works i use my kurig 2.0 this way.
The toothpick hack worked great, but I ended up taping a magnet (black elec tape) in place anyways to alleviate the ne problem of the holder always in the carafe position. But.....my menu appears to be old firmware though. It's not in color and there is no favorites icon (heart). Now to figure out firmware upgrade for this robotic coffee maker!
Wow... Great Video !! I just went to Target to get the old K-40 and after 2 stores, that even said they had it online, had to buy this damn 2.0... At least it was on sale... I heard there was a way to bypass the reader, but didn't know you could open the entire menu, at least didn't think it would be this easy !! Now if I just knew what all the stuff was for... guess I need to play with it, or read the instructions... Now to get it out of the box !! Thank you again !! BTW... GREAT FIRST VIDEO !!! The hack won't work right now... My refillable K-cup is an Ekobrew and has 2 bumps under the rim, to lock into the old Keurig style, so the lower poker wouldn't puncture the cups bottom screen... I just need to Dremel off the bumps or get a different refill cup and I'll be good to go !!! Thank you again !!
The reason why it worked? You moved the magnet into the sensor area. Did you know that you can remove this top to clean your unit and there is a inside splash tray that needs cleaning from time to time. You also can wash this k-cup holder under water. Once you take that out you'll see that it pops in and out with and it harms nothing. The tooth pick is just holding the magnet swing arm..
Thanks for sharing! I was using a magnet but it was hit and miss, this method is much better. It works great with kcups but not with my refillable cup. I was wondering which one you have? I bought the eco brew 2.0, it works in the machine to give me the regular menu, but it doesn't quite close all the way so I can't get the full menu to pop up.
I am so glad this worked for you! I am honestly not sure where I bought my refillable cup. I have had it for years. It had to be Wal-Mart, Target or Bed, Bath and Beyond. I'm sorry I couldn't answer that question!
I know this is 3 years old but if I do the toothpick or bobby pin thing, and it gives me a full menu, will it also give me the option to have a clock so I can pre-set it to auto make for me in the mornings? Mine didn't come with that option.
The problem with the toothpick is now the bottom puncture needle is out of the way as well. Could be a bonus if you use refillable cups, but doesn't let you use a regular kcup with the full menu.
I used a small wooden dowel instead of a toothpick. the dowel was cut from a free chopstick, a small and slightly conical shaped wooden chopstick. I sanded both ends and pushed it in the hole where you put the toothpick. The dowel can be 1/4 to 1/2 in. long and the diameter is 5.5/32 in. The diameter is slightly larger than the hole opening thus allowing you to firmly press it in and it won't come out and it won't have any splinters like the toothpick. Viola: full menu access in 1 minute.
Trust me, you have a magnet that will fit. If you have a broken pair of headphones (in ear ones, not over the head)... and really who doesn't... you just take the headphones apart and tape the small magnet inside to the lid rather than the lower section. It's a hell of a lot easier than removing lids from K-cups. Of course, this still doesn't allow you to use old K-cups, but it does give you every single size option.
This is great and totally changed my morning, LOL! The only thing i noticed that kind of sucked was that, i did the bobby pin trick and it worked just fine but got the inside of my keurig machine really messy with coffee grinds. I was able to wipe it off but i was wondering if that happened to you?
I am so glad this worked for you! Hmm.. The messy part did not happen to me. However, I will upload a new video tonight or tomorrow showing a new way of hacking into the full menu without any "tools"!! Stay tuned! :)
Good video. Thanks for sharing. Instead of using a newer K-cup and taping the lid over an older one, can't you simply purchase a genuine K-cup holder so you can put your own coffee in and cut the older k-cup and pour the coffee grinds into the new holder? My new machine came with a k-cup holder so you can use your own coffee. I will try the toothpick option though. :)
I just tried a bobby pin. It worked. Not sure how long it will go without rusting. Will keep an eye on it. Do have to make sure it's pushed down. Tried a toothpick, didn't work but mine are extremely cheap toothpicks from dollar store. Lol. Kept breaking.
This actually works then? I saw another video that wanted me to cut a green wire from removing the lid on top and using the magnet but I wanted to look around first.
Just this morning....my Keurig 2.0 is on, but the ON button (LED screen) not the brew button is not working...it's not responding...I have disassembled and reassembled..unplugged and re-plugged with button pushed down...All I get is the listing of software version, how many cups have been brewed etc. Have you experienced a similar problem and if so, how was it resolved. Thank you.
Honestly, removing a couple screws will *NOT* void the warranty. And you don't cut the green wire, just unplug it. That way, if it needs servicing, you just plug it back in. I do however like the toothpick hack!
this video was very useful, i tried it and it worked the first time. thank you so much. you were very good at explaining how to do it, you should make more videos like this
soooo im a little confused and ticked at this 2.0 ... i need to do both ?the tooth pick and the keruig lid taped to it, cuz with just the tooth pick im just getting an 6oz or 4 oz and the carafe option is blinking not compatable
ok the tooth pick works for Kcups but the only thing with that retracted the needle is not underneath anymore how does the coffee drain out? also I have tried for over an hour to get a Kcup brewed lid on my refillable filter and it still will not read correctly where I can get the full menu. Any help? would greatly be appreciated
I tried this hack & it didn't work. The toothpick made it so I could see the full menu but when I tried to brew a cup nothing came out. When I opened the machine, after turning it off, there was hot water and coffee grounds everywhere! I'll try the magnet now but thanks for the mess and wasted k-cup!!
You must have not read my description.. Seems from what you've said, you did not 'pre' punch the holes in the K-cup first before brewing. You have to do this first if you are not using your own refillable cup. Now, you're welcome! Ps.. It's always good to read everything before leaving a review! ;)
Didn't assume and definitely did not call you stupid, thanks! Just went off what you told me comparing to other stories.. Sorry for the mess & confusion. Perhaps, hacking into your brewer is much more difficult than you make of it? Happy hacking! :)
So sticking a new lid on each reusable cup you got plus sticking a toothpick down the machine hole is easier than getting a 3$ neodymium magnet on ebay? I'll stick with the magnet...
this is by far the best and safest hack ive found :) thanks girl...also, instead of a toothpick i used a nail and it worked just as devine, not surenwhat kind of nail it is but it has a flat top and its thensame length as the toothpick....thankd again
Kendra, Love your video but, my 2.0 does not have the hole where you put the toothpick or bobby pin in to lock it down. It is odd that you have a machine that has it and I don't, cannot think of a reason why this would be. any comments from you appreciated.
Thank you so much! I actually have a new hack and will be posting the video tonight hopefully! It doesn't involve the "security hole" too! I hope the new hack that I post will help!! Stay tuned! :)
put in k cup close lid lift lid pull out k cup put in toothpick, a dime, whatever you use drop in k cup close lid. this is for the people who don't have magnets. also if not done right the refillable k cups will result in water down coffee. their only good for small cups not travel size unless it's a strong brew coffee
Before putting the toothpick in, place the K cup you want to use in first to puncture the holes. Then take the cup out and use toothpick method. Hope this helps!😃
Not sure which refillable K-cup I have. It's about 2-3 years old. I'm sorry I couldn't answer that question. However, in the description I do state that now I am using a bobby pin instead of a toothpick which works so much better!! :)
Tom Williams Tom, turn your machine up side down...over the sink...There are a lot of writing underneath...that's where I found out I have the Kcup 300. So now I have to find someone who has figured out my machine. I have no place to put magnets or any of the other suggestions I've read so far. Good luck.
+Kendra Grant i purchased a Brew and save Brand refilable filter Carafe size made for all kurig 2.0 models at walmart for about 8$. you can use your own coffee and brew 1 cup or a pot. by useing the caraf size refilable filter it opens up all the brewing options of the machine. Also you can use any brand k-cup all you need to do is put the k-cup in the machine close it open it so the k-cup top and bottom holes are poked put the k-cup in the carafe size refilable filter close it and brew using any brew option you want...it works i use my kurig 2.0 this way.
they make a refill cup that pushes that lever down giving you the full menu plus then it brews without having to tape an old lid on it which is ridiculous
UPDATE: The new "Eco Cafafe" and "Eco Cup" reusable pods by "Perfect Pod" work with the new 2.0 brewers without having to tape lids from Keurig K-Cups on top of them - or do anything other hacks! They unlock the brewer (I'm assuming because they're made with "neon" like coloring to the plastic, as well as having details on the lid that the new Keurig 2.0's read as a "Keurig Brewed" label. But who cares? They work!). These reusable K-cups also come with an actual hinge for the lid, rather than having the lid just be attached at one end and bending it up and down to use it until it breaks off. They're also dishwasher safe and come with a steel filter built in that works fine without having to buy the little paper filters to go inside them. Here are the Amazon links to both the K-Cup and the K-Carafe (which completely unlocks the entire menu so you can use all of the options 1 through 6!). The headaches are over - enjoy everybody!: K-Cup single-cup-serving size: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PBF3T3E?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00; K-Carafe size: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T6TBJ5Q?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
This is a great video. Nice simple hack, but really why didnt you buy the keurig that uses all Kcups regardless of brand if thats all you wanted to do? If your hard up on money and cannot afford the right K cups then buy a 20$ coffee maker and you can make a pot of coffee in 10min... Why people buy keurigs to use the solofill??? I just dont get it lol.
I did not have to use the toothpick nor a magnet.. All I did was went out and bought an 8 pack a carafe cups $14.99.. Slowly pulled apart the label from the cup which contains a coffee filter inside.. Slowly I cut the coffee filter off the label and washed out the existing cup that it was in.. Now I can fill the cup with my fave coffee, place it in my Keurig 2.0 K200 Plus and put the existing label on top, pushing the label under the cup up the top and it gives me the full menu for cup, travel mug and carafe..
I am actually uploading one now lol, I watched so many videos and watching yours gave me insight so thank you Kendra.. Do you use a filter in it or just as is? My reusable carafe cup was not being recognized so I did this and now for some reason the one I paid $9.99 is now working again.. I am going to keep this one just in case lol..
First the toothpick that was sticking up out of the hole broke (thankfully a tiny bit was sticking out). It did unlock the menu but when I picked a 14 0z cup, no coffee came out. Anyone else have any problems? Guess I am going to have to get a magnet and give that a try. I also do not like this brewer. I called the company and they said in a few months they should have the larger coffee cups which of course means MORE money. HATE that I can't use my old cups that are just a couple of months old!!!
Hmm.. I'm not sure love! But after making this video I decided to use a bobby pin with the two prongs facing upwards (new one of course) instead of toothpick.. Worked so much better! I didn't have to constantly replace it because it was wearing out. I do think Keurig will be coming out with more options for larger cups which will unlock the menu without hacking into it! However, like you said it will be more money spent again.. My favorite hack is just being able to put the Keurig label on top of my refillable K-Cup!
Also, you can use your old K-Cups!! Just take the time once to take the new "Keurig brewed" label off of the newest K-Cups and place it on top of the old cups!! Works like a charm!!
Also, one last thing in regards to why your coffee did not brew after you achieved the full menu.. When making this video I was using my refillable K-cup which did not need to have any holes punctured into the cup.. However, if you are wanting to use an original K-cup or an old K-cup with the new "Keurig brewed" label on top of it, you must first place the K-cup into the brewer and close the lid to puncture the hole in the top and bottom.. Then you will be able to insert the toothpick or bobby pin in the "hack hole" to use the full menu!! I sure hope I answered all of your questions!! :)
Kendra Grant I just read this update and what I did was put a plastic barret clip end from underneath in the hole to keep it from going back to it's original position and it works great! Remember everyone if you want to use a kcup in the pot, it has to have the hole in the bottom for the water to flow out of, which requires you to undo this fix.
seems like a LOT of work for a cup of coffee.... Im wondering what it would take to get Keurig to simply allow these options as "stock" or "standard" settings in all machines from here on out... I know, this doesnt help any of US ... but for our children, and childrens children .. (think of the kids) Ill be trying the magnet as well as the tooth pick hacks sometime this weekend, as I have neither here at this time . :-/
Make sure you use the correct file...only works on the touch screen model that i know of. There is a chinese variant. My coffee icons look way different ..i have numbers but writing is diff. I can use any kcup. Any size any brand. Control temp and set auto...Since i made this post however i have been through 2...fyi. I buy these on ebay. Once I get the hang of it with the US or EN variant firmware I will make a video if i see fit. If it gets popular enough anyway. Hell i have always ran my own software or modified version of stock on anything with a board.
My Keurig is a 2.0, but it seems they fixed this "security hole" pun intended. I do not have that opening on my Keurig. I am not happy with this model.
I love how you stated, "I am NOT unscrewing anything!"
Totally agree with you.
I know this is 8 years old but from every other hack I have seen to get the full menu up, THIS looks like the EASIEST!
Did you say this is your first UA-cam video? Great job! Thank you!
I did tape the top to my refillable filter and it worked great. Also, when you use bobby pin it works better when you put it between the two holes so it holds it back. Much in the same way the magnet did. Hope this helps.
Youre a genius. At last a household safe cure to this issue. You rock. Much Thanks !!
No problem!😃
I just did this hack in 30 secs thank you. I used a middle tine of a plastic fork and a dab of hot glue for good measure, done! Thank you!!
Thanks for posting!
i just upgraded from the small one to the k500. tjis was a deal breaker until this video i was going to return it and continue on with my old one. thanks
Kendra,
I bought the very first 2.0 brewer that came out. I love the toothpick idea, but my brewing contraption doesn't have the hole yours does that the tooth pick goes into... very excited to learn you can actually take that part out to clean. Thx for the video. I've had it 2 years now and still haven't had a chance to read the book!
Good job with this being your first YT video! It is also good that you added in the comments that you now use a bobby pin instead of the toothpicks.
Thanks! I am with you in that after I spent all that money on my Keurig I sure didn't want to damage it!
Yay!! I can actually do this hack without worrying about ruining the machine my husband and I were just given for Christmas. Thank you for the info!😁
You are so welcome!! I was the same way. I didn't want to mess my brewer up! Glad I could help!
Thanks so much for this great video, I just got one of the machines as a gift and wanted a 14oz cup of my own coffee and didn't want to damage my machine. I feel like your video was a excellent find. THANKS for sharing.
I am going to try this! My mom has blown up several pods in her new machine and I am excited to give this a try!!!!
Thanks for this cool trick. Much better than the other two I saw. I will go ahead and try this at home:)
I did this with my reusable cup. I just superglued the top onto my cup. Works great. Might have to try the toothpick hack too. Thanks for the knowledge.
that's cool. I didn't know it had them features. I was like how many kcups make a pitcher of coffee. it makes no sense to have a pitcher and only get 10 oz. so that's awesome. thanks
Hey Kendra, thanks for the info! Who would have thought a Toothpick would work! YES, I am so happy!
Bed bath and beyond sells the new solofill that works in the new keurig 2.0 the solofill is purple instead of red.
Thanks love!! Definitely will look into that.. My favorite store! :)
I bought this cup today and I keep getting error messages and I am following directions. I am so discouraged!
Chris Lima that's because the solofil and others alike ruin the 2.0 drm.
+Richie Quiniones i purchased a Brew and save Brand refilable filter Carafe size made for
all kurig 2.0 models at walmart for about 8$. you can use your own
coffee and brew 1 cup or a pot. by useing the caraf size refilable
filter it opens up all the brewing options of the machine. Also you can
use any brand k-cup all you need to do is put the k-cup in the machine
close it open it so the k-cup top and bottom holes are poked put the
k-cup in the carafe size refilable filter close it and brew using any
brew option you want...it works i use my kurig 2.0 this way.
A piece of tape to hold the pod compartment in the carafe pod mode works also.
Good job. I am just amazed at this after thinking I was going to need a magnet.
I do the same thing but I only cut out the top of lid just inside the rim that is on top of the plastic cup. It works great.
Kendra Grant Mine did not work using the Solo cup made for the 2.0
Kendra, did you ever break a toothpick off inside? If so, is it easy to get out ?
Viola: full menu access in 1 minute.
pretty insane views for your first vid!! good job. it's a tad long though, consider editing in the future
Really cool cuz with out knowing all this my 2.0 sucks. Now you made it unsuck. Thanks.
Stay tuned! :)
I agree...I'm not mucking about and busting parts off my new machine (free from Keurig as a replacement). A toothpick???? Genius !
I know this video is older but will it work on those lavender reusable pods. It says for Keurig 2.0 but I do have a old pod
I'm using the 2.0 k 350 and this worked perfectly....ty!!!
I saw another video that wanted me to cut a green wire from removing the lid on top and using the magnet but I wanted to look around first.
it worked!! super excited...thanks!
I do however like the toothpick hack!
this video was very useful, i tried it and it worked the first time. thank you so much. you were very good at explaining how to do it, you should make more videos like this
Thank you!!
soooo im a little confused and ticked at this 2.0 ... i need to do both ?the tooth pick and the keruig lid taped to it, cuz with just the tooth pick im just getting an 6oz or 4 oz and the carafe option is blinking not compatable
I will try a toothpick thank you!! Lifesaver 🙌🏼
worked like a charm!! awesome! thank you!
ok the tooth pick works for Kcups but the only thing with that retracted the needle is not underneath anymore how does the coffee drain out? also I have tried for over an hour to get a Kcup brewed lid on my refillable filter and it still will not read correctly where I can get the full menu. Any help? would greatly be appreciated
Ps.. It's always good to read everything before leaving a review! ;)
+Kendra Grant - thanks for assuming I'm stupid. I did read EVERYTHING, & did "pre-punch" the holes.
THANKS ! Easiest than any other idea. Thanks for sharing. works perfectly
nice explanation Kendra
this is by far the best and safest hack ive found :) thanks girl...also, instead of a toothpick i used a nail and it worked just as devine, not surenwhat kind of nail it is but it has a flat top and its thensame length as the toothpick....thankd again
Kendra,
Love your video but, my 2.0 does not have the hole where you put the toothpick or bobby pin in to lock it down.
Stay tuned! :)
Kendra Grant what is yournew hack
Kendra Grant hope its out soon!
is this hack necessary for the Keurig 200 model.
having a little problem understanding
I used a paper clip. Awesome tip. Thank you!
put in k cup close lid
lift lid pull out k cup put in toothpick, a dime, whatever you use drop in k cup close lid.
this is for the people who don't have magnets.
also if not done right the refillable k cups will result in water down coffee. their only good for small cups not travel size unless it's a strong brew coffee
use a paperclip. bend in at the top so that it doesn't fall through and works like a charm
With the toothpick, the needle to puncture the kcup is now gone. So do you puncture a kcup manually?
Before putting the toothpick in, place the K cup you want to use in first to puncture the holes. Then take the cup out and use toothpick method. Hope this helps!😃
which model solofill is that I have the exact same one ?
Not sure which refillable K-cup I have. It's about 2-3 years old. I'm sorry I couldn't answer that question. However, in the description I do state that now I am using a bobby pin instead of a toothpick which works so much better!! :)
Tom Williams Tom, turn your machine up side down...over the sink...There are a lot of writing underneath...that's where I found out I have the Kcup 300. So now I have to find someone who has figured out my machine. I have no place to put magnets or any of the other suggestions I've read so far. Good luck.
+Kendra Grant i purchased a Brew and save Brand refilable filter Carafe size made for

Instead of a toothpick you could use a small piece of metal that obviously wont soften from heat and break inside the thing
they make a refill cup that pushes that lever down giving you the full menu plus then it brews without having to tape an old lid on it which is ridiculous
I’m sure there are so many things for it now, this video is so old lol... I don’t even use mine anymore!
is there a way to brew hotter drinks
Any update on the new "hack" version?
The headaches are over - enjoy everybody!:
K-Cup single-cup-serving size: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PBF3T3E?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00;
K-Carafe size: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T6TBJ5Q?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
can you use any carafe with it?
wheres the paper clip go the tooth pick worked only twice then broke I see it kicks out the arm have the k300 ty
Unfortunately my brewer doesn't have the little hole for the toothpicks
This is a great video. Nice simple hack, but really why didnt you buy the keurig that uses all Kcups regardless of brand if thats all you wanted to do? If your hard up on money and cannot afford the right K cups then buy a 20$ coffee maker and you can make a pot of coffee in 10min... Why people buy keurigs to use the solofill??? I just dont get it lol.
thanks got the 2.0 k350 and it workd i just taped it..
I tried it, and it does not work on my Keurig 2.0 K400. Am I doing something wrong?
How do i get my keurig 2.0 k350 to show the time?
Thank you !!! I found these very helpful !!
this actually worked omg lol thanks so much
Toothpick worked like a charm. Thx
No problem!
Robert Clark where is the firmware for this
I did not have to use the toothpick nor a magnet..
I actually do that now! :) I just never uploaded a video showing how. Perhaps I should..
Lol! They Hacked right back. My 2.0 version is minus the hole for a tooth pick hack.
Wow! that is GREAT! Thank you so much
First the toothpick that was sticking up out of the hole broke (thankfully a tiny bit was sticking out).
Kendra Grant
I just read this update and what I did was put a plastic barret clip end from underneath in the hole to keep it from going back to it's original position and it works great! Remember everyone if you want to use a kcup in the pot, it has to have the hole in the bottom for the water to flow out of, which requires you to undo this fix.
Didn't work for the K500. Thanks though!
seems like a LOT of work for a cup of coffee.... Im wondering what it would take to get Keurig to simply allow these options as "stock" or "standard" settings in all machines from here on out... I know, this doesnt help any of US ... but for our children, and childrens children .. (think of the kids)
Ill be trying the magnet as well as the tooth pick hacks sometime this weekend, as I have neither here at this time . :-/
I literally found the firmware. Modified it. Now i have a rooted kuerig. Fridge. And android. Lol
Can you do a video on it?
+TriplettGang did he make one yet?
+TriplettGang Do you know what or how to jtag? Google it. You can do as I did. You need no video. Lol
+Robert Clark YES VIDEO! pahlease!
NONE of the hacks (to unlock full menu only) work for my 2.0 k300.. Could someone please explain why??? I bought it used.
Kendra wouldn't a paper clip be better ?
My Keurig is a 2.0, but it seems they fixed this "security hole" pun intended. I do not have that opening on my Keurig. I am not happy with this model.
I just found this out after trying to do the hack, and now have to find a different, easy hack to do it.
