I keep scrolling the comments for the legend so y'all know what the title is referring to. Loved Sevdaliza for years and was just watching this Turkish show (the gift) and did a google search for half woman half snake and Sevdaliza was mentioned in the wikipedia page. Here is one version of the legend:
Shahmaran is a mythical creature, half woman and half snake, the first human she encounters is a young man named Camasb (also known as Yada Jamsab, Jamisav in other versions of the story).[2][3] Camasb gets stuck in a cave after he tries to steal honey with a few friends, his friends leave him alone in the cave.[2] He decides to explore the cave and finds a passage to a chamber that looks like a mystical and beautiful garden with thousands of off-white colored snakes and the Shahmaran living together harmoniously.[2][4] At this point Shahmaran and Camasb fall in love and live in the cave chamber, and the Shahmaran teaches him about medicines and medicinal herbs.[2] Camasb misses living above ground and wants to leave, he tells the Shahmaran he will not share the secret of her living there.[2] Many years pass.
The king of the town of Tarsus becomes ill and the vizier discovers the treatment of his condition requires the Shahmaran flesh.[4] Camasb tells the towns people where Shahmaran lives, according to the legend Shahmaran says, “blanch me in an earthen dish, give my extract to the vizier, and feed my flesh to the sultan.”[4] They bring her to the town and kill her in a bath called, "Şahmaran Hamam".[2] The king eats her flesh and lives, the vizier drinks the extract and dies.[2][4] Camasb drinks the water of Shahmaran and becomes a doctor, by gaining the Shahmaran's wisdom.[2][4]
    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahmaran
Thinking bout how she was killed for her knowledge because of a man she loved and trusted... AND TO WHAT END?
To save men who enslave other men...?
    ... And Now
This song gives me all the feels...
    Thank You Sevdaliza 💜

Shahmaran is a (Mythical Middle Eastern hybrid androgynous creature wise & rightful, can see thousands of miles to help whom lost! *maybe that’s why sevdaliza wearing this beautiful crystal eye-wear* many stories about her yet the name is most likely came from a region in modern day Iran after the travelers or hunters stories of that place) it is also a modern day village in Iran the name means “The Princes” for that area was famous for young royals with Arab/Persian/Bakhsh or other ethnic origins to go there and hunt for leisure also to prove themselves by being great leaders & hunters for it was a really really wild & barren place with nothing to hunt also some travelers used to see jinns or ghosts “most likely its hallucinations due the lack of food or water”, some people would go there to bury curses “sort of ancient evil magic” or looking for an Oracle Jinni that can fulfill your dreams once you give him or her something valuable (each person has a different thing) .. so basically this place was always related to (proving yourself/fulfilling your desire & some other dark business)🌚💔
Note : in some dialects this name means the King of snakes or the Snakes ruler, so just keep that in mind.
Back again to this marvelous video:
1- first thing to notice is that they’re all African Americans (thug style with mashup of Christian and Egyptian mythology references on them/ they represent the American Dream maybe).
2- they are trying to pull a yacht like in a desert which shows how pointless what they’re trying to do or to show sufferings.
(My guess it is a symbolic of how people being materialistic/ how materialism is pointless when you are losing your nature).
3- one of them give up or free himself and realize everyone dies without succeeding on what they had have attempted.
4- he finds himself lost without being materialistic (because he has no goals in life but to fulfill his material desires).
5- he escape nature to something out of this world, so materialistic and lustful .. is she a goddess or the oracle Jinn ? Or just the fusion of that mythical androgynous spirit?
6- he then realized the truth ., he don’t needs guns, luxury, a wish or sex .. he needed water! That’s what he needs after wandering the barren desert he needs nature and nothing else is more luxurious than a pleasure of sipping some water or washing your face with it.
7- Then his desires just collapsed/vanishing with his wide open eyes back to the first scene again!, he just realized the truth!
(All of what we materialistically desire is just a mirage that made us lost in our journey of life).
The last scene: Oh! He’s dead in the barren desert his last wish was just to have some water! 💦
(As he close his eyes and surrenders to death on the first scene 0:11)
*So is she that ancient oracle jinni ? Or that androgynous mythical creature which is most likely been inspired after the oracle jinni itself .. or maybe she’s just a mirage !? Not sure but always like to leave it unanswered because this is Art not a booklet or manual-guide tutorial* 💛😉
We are as modern humans living in the anthropocen era .. which unfortunately is all about materialism, now a homeless can get a free WiFi but can’t get a free water?! We forgot how to read the sky and how to find pleasures & fulfillment in this life without being materialistic 💔
This is how I would like see this beautiful artwork.. and this is what I would like to think sevdaliza would try to say.
    💙✨
Edit: Remember Water is the most luxurious thing on this planet so please don’t waste it if not needed, thanks! 🙏 I edited again to add few more points, hope it’s not way too visually cluttered! Thank you all!

That's a great interpretation. For me what I got from this video is that they keep trying to do something that is impossible and useless, and when they try to free themselves they end up dead in "the desert" because of the "fata morgana", aka the illusions of a directionless life. This could be a metaphor for modern life generally, and also addictions.

TY2020 yes actually I agree with you but also I think Sevdaliza chosen this specific name / place “Shahmaran” to say something (more), also they’re all African Americans which I think is more about capitalism and the way of materialistic lifestyle which became like a new religion in this planet (the American dream ..etc) .. also surely this could be more deeper, these just an interruptions after all 😄🌚💛

The audio and visual embodiment of enlightenment: when the man released the bondage and went in search of the essential need to sustain his life; water. Not all the materialistic things we seek. Oh my god I've been watching this for 3 days trying to get it and now I just can't stop crying. I am wracked with sobs. This is the most beautiful, passionate, and deep representation of oppression I've ever seen.
Dragging along something that needs WATER, when you know damn good and well that YOU need it. So you wisen up and let go of that thing, to go search for water for yourself. And society tells you 'HERE! You've finally made it! look at all the things you have to assist in that!' To wisen up only to be fooled again. A mirage of water in a diamond encrusted cup is almost crueler then not understanding that you need it for you, and not for your things.
To realize that you need the water, weary on your journey to find it and surrounded by hard earned treasures that others died trying to find. To fall into it with your last breathe in a golden palace, thinking you will finally, FINALLY be sated and fulfilled.
Only to realize your mistake as you shatter the mirage, and slip into death from lack of the very thing you thought you had.

Shahmaran is a mythical creature, half woman and half snake, the first human she encounters is a young man named Camasb (also known as Yada Jamsab, Jamisav in other versions of the story). Camasb gets stuck in a cave after he tries to steal honey with a few friends, his friends leave him alone in the cave. He decides to explore the cave and finds a passage to a chamber that looks like a mystical and beautiful garden with thousands of off-white colored snakes and the Shahmaran living together harmoniously. At this point Shahmaran and Camasb fall in love and live in the cave chamber, and the Shahmaran teaches him about medicines and medicinal herbs. Camasb misses living above ground and wants to leave, he tells the Shahmaran he will not share the secret of her living there. Many years pass.
The king of the town of Tarsus becomes ill and the vizier discovers the treatment of his condition requires the Shahmaran flesh. Camasb tells the towns people where Shahmaran lives, according to the legend Shahmaran says, “blanch me in an earthen dish, give my extract to the vizier, and feed my flesh to the sultan.” They bring her to the town and kill her in a bath called, "Şahmaran Hamam". The king eats her flesh and lives, the vizier drinks the extract and dies. Camasb drinks the water of Shahmaran and becomes a doctor, by gaining the Shahmaran's wisdom.

“It’s the story of the black man, who continues life in a cycle of oppression. The modern chains on black men today are the aspirations of decadence, power, and success that create a false sense of autonomy and freedom. This leaves them victim of addictions to power and materialism, unable to venture outside what is “expected” of their behavior. This is visible in the strong symbolic nature of the work, reflected in both the visual and the music. It’s a stylized parable world that shares an almost biblical semantic.”

I Iike the seamless way this peace of music blends jazz/funk with classical and the subtle North Africa feel it has. The artists behind this peace of music strike me as artists of great integrity as this peace of music doesn't strike me as something that will gain phenomenal commercial success, due to its un-diluted nature.

Her music is so visual. It's not just sounds to dance to or even a song you can be like "oh that's relatable" It's audio artistry. Anyone who "doesn't get" her music is probably mad they can't grind to it in a club.

I'm mesmerized by her. Best accidental YT find I've had in a long time.

el arte en esta propuesta es un nucleo vivo, la propuesta musical y visual se complementan a la perfeccion y sustraen de la realidad para verla desde una abstraccion trascendental, es hermoso.
