INFRARED PHOTOGRAPHY | Cyclone Gabrielle
Railway Bridge to nowhere | Cyclone Gabrielle | 15 Months on
Around Valentines Day 2023 Cyclone Gabrielle brought no love, only death and destruction. Fifteen months on many people are still living with the trauma. Slowly but surely destroyed Infrastructure is being replaced. This Railway bridge over the benign Esk River in Hawke's Bay New Zealand remains Isolated after Gabrielle swept through the Esk Valley leaving a trail of devastation and misery in her way. The usually benign Esk River was transformed into a raging torrent flooding the whole valley.
This video was shot in Infrared.
Regards Paul

Absolutely stunning buddy, the IR works so well with this.
Cheers Matt yeah I'm loving the IR on the blue sky days....sorry to rub it in, if I could send was some blue I would haha. Thanks for checking in mate.
Great Video Paul, the isolated bridge is an amazing subject, it is very sad because it's the end of the Gisborne Line, thanks for sharing
Cheers mate yeah it’s tragic for sure
Hi Paul, really enjoyed this little video you have captured some beautiful. Scenes, creating beautiful images. I especially like the ones with sun flare.
Have a wonderful week 😎✌️
Cheers mate appreciate it yeah they look pretty cool with the flares I shot some in visible light but they all lost any impact too much green and blue
Really eerie. I shot IR on film, 20 years ago, but haven't done so since. I absolutely love the look. That video of the bridge is really captivating.
Hey thanks mate appreciate the feedback, I tried IR when I was a young lad I was well disappointing it looked just like any other black and white film, year later I found out I needed a filter on the lens....mug haha...I'm loving IR now. Thanks for watching mate
Is there a plan to fix it?
Not sure mate ill have a dig around find out if there’s a plan that’s the line from Napier to wairoa and Gisborne not sure it was used that often to justify a rebuild.
