Excellent fun and while not perfect its one of the few VR games that feels solidly built with gameplay.
Sorry for the mouse pointer in some parts of the vid. Recorded on 2 computers and one of them I had a setting wrong
Thank you so much for your review. Can't wait till tomorrow.

I'm
DEMONIK DARKNESS if you mean Robinson: The Journey I'm pretty sure he did I video on it.
ACG Are you going to do a review for Friday The 13th?
Given the disparity on our views on the excellent Farpoint, which I felt pushed shooters forward in the same ways Doom and Goldeneye did, yet you felt was distinctly 'meh', you'll forgive me if this 'atroturfer' or whatever you called me doesn't take your glowing praise wholesale...
"Taking hits from all sides like a quarterback that forgot to pay for his offensive lines dinner bill" how do you come up with these 😂
He is a one liner connoisseur!
haha that's what I fucking love about Karak. I've never seen any reviewer does it better like him
It's why one of the reasons why i love his reviews :)
This game is a salvation for those who have VR
RE7 had VR capabilities but most people enjoyed the game just fine without it, this is the first and only game I've seen where VR is super essential to the experience. Everything else is N64 syndrome, mediocrity getting attention because its VR exclusive. Which is sad that it's taken this long but gotta start somewhere.
Robo recall, Wilsons heart, Rick and Morty // These games also deserve recognition. Whenever I have someone try out my setup I usually get a wow that's unbelievable as a response. (This was from a 4yr old kid / a 8 yr old kid / My girlfriend who is 32 and my Dad who is 70 yrs old and my mom who is 66 yrs old) Trust me although expensive, it's awesome. I could care less about normal gaming again. (GTX 1080ti) I have the capability to play 4k gaming and could care less. If it isn't in the helmet than I'm not playing (It is that awesome).
There are plenty of great games for VR. Best fun I've had gaming since I was a kid since I got my Rift a year ago. 2D gaming just feels so boring now compared to VR.
antonesei ionut nah, RE7, Farpoint, Star trek, werewolves within, and star blood, off the top of my head, are all great games. That's just for PSVR, arizona sunshine (coming to psvr this month), onward, and more are incredible!
First time I've ever considered VR was just now. That looks epic AF.
it is
Finally the first VR game that actually makes me consider buying a VR system.
Ever considered that people like different genres? Also holy shit you sound like someone who regrets buying vr and now comments on every vr related video to justify your purchase
Daryl Dixon
Resi 7 is playable w/out VR
Daryl Dixon lol that's sad, Star Trek Bridge Crew is far better than those games in VR. Funny how opinions work......
farpoint is the best shooter in vr
This would be a great game if they had a landing party campaign. having a story mode and being able beam down to other planets to explore and battle as FPS would be the greatest ST game. maybe one day someone will make it. to have a realistic ST game like mass effect andromeda only better would be the ultimate ST game. I keep hoping one day we would have a true Star Trek game experience.
Thanks for the thorough review. Very informative. Definitely picking this one up soon.
excellent review!! Loved your layers of analysis, haven't experienced a good reviewer for a while.
God, as a 40-something life long Trekkie, I would kill to be able to play this in VR. Hell, just give me a non-VR version and I'd be happy. Nice review as always Karak. Love the word play in this one :D
yep its a dream
in vr youre physciall there and actaully touching the stuff with your hands, just wouldnt be the same with 2d
Yeah I know, but as we aren't getting (anytime soon at least) a decent Star Trek game on the PC (or anywhere for that matter) I'd still like to see this in a non-VR version somehow. Not sure how it would be done, but you are right, it would probably translate to 2d fairly badly.
Subscribed after watching this. Great review and attempt at explaining what VR does, I see you already convinced some people to get in, because it's hard. I gotta find myself some online four player videos of this and get even more tempted.
I'm a star trek nut, holy shit. I need a VR now. so so so sold on this. cannot wait.
RaVaGe Games grab eve valkyre too. game is a beast!!
Definitely grab Farpoint. It is basically the Away missions from trek or the battles from Starship Troopers.
RaVaGe Games you should get the rift. it is cheaper than the Vive and works as well as it. not saying the Vice isn't amazing, because it is but at this point the Rift is more bang for your buck. You get a lot more free content with the Rift. :)
It's now available to non vr gamers. Plays really well too.
RaVaGe Games I will tell you this, if you get the right crew you will forget you are a not in a starship....
Appreciate the review. Good job man.keep that early grey hot
Great review, looking forward to this game.. Iv linked ur post to a Facebook group and people on their says ur amazing with ur work.. And most of them not heard of you till now..
OK. As much as i detest 10+ minute reviews... this guy breaks it down so well that the review is surprisingly entertaining. And based entirely off this one review, i shall go out and buy this game tomorrow for my PSVR on my Pro with Move controllers.
Very helpful review...thank you.
hey, hey, hey DS9 probably has the best ship in all of Star Trek. The Defiant.
They didn't go far, but they went rough
They routinely went to the other side of the galaxy. :P
haha you can't compare The Defiant to the Enterprise.
Never did. Just saying that by hopping through the wormhole it went a lot further every week than every other on screen ship has (every week that is ;) )
In the episode with the Traveler. The Enterprise D traveled 2.7 million light years from the Milky Way galaxy to another galaxy altogether. That has to be the record lol
And again - that happened *once*. Voyager travelled to the start of the Big Bang - that happened *once*. Kirk's Enterprise went beyond the edge of the Galaxy - *once*.
I'm just saying, by travelling through the wormhole every other week the Defiant travelled pretty damned far regularly. Not saying it went furthest or fastest. Just that it went far on a regular basis. :p
Great video Karak. Always love your words 👌🏻
I was continuously checking for a new video, not dissapointed 😀
Dope review as per bro and hope you're having a great weekend
Looks great! I'll wait until the 1701-D bridge is released.
Glad to finally see complete experiences hitting VR. I may but I'm in a year or 2, next gen.
Great review as always man!
It's good to finally see a decent Star Trek game, it's been so long. This may be the title that makes me get a PSVR.
Never binge watched reviews for anything until your videos
thanks aaron
Ha - glad it’s not just me.
So onto the real question - Does Counselor Troi show up and start stretching in her tight workout clothes again?
nope lol
Criminal.
That sequence is just begging for VR.
Thanks for the review. Do you recommend a microphone for it? I prefer earbuds if that's a possibility.
even considering the issues with helm, do you recommend getting this just for the single player? do you think this could be a ps vr seller?
Awesome review, you have me thinking about picking up PSVR just for this. I'm a huge Star Trek fan, and this looks great.
I can't wait to play this on my vive with my PlayStation brothers!
Excellent review, thank you so much. Looks like I'm buying this!
Great review. I honestly did not expect so much praise.
Most excellent and thorough review. Really enjoyed it. Looks to me like the first game that actually used VR as a legitimate game mechanic and not a superficial augmentation.
Cool channel I subbed!
Always watch your reviews before buying... You hit it on this one! Definitely a buy!!!! Keep up the outstanding work!!!
Great review....OMG I'm so excited!! Can't wait until tomorrow.
So happy to hear this turned out well!
Fantastic review, you just sold me on this game. Subscribed as well, you have some great content.
Did not expect such a great review for this game. Thanks for the review. Awesome as always.
Oh my ... this looks outstanding. Also, this review was quite thorough, thank you.
Hype levels just jumped to 11 after this review, really good summary. Thanks!
hi again. i wanted to say something about ACG and KaraK. 1stly I feel I can really TRUST his reviews. he's not trying to promote or glorify himself and I appreciate how he almost does reviews for the " great er good" of gaming and gamers. Anyway man as always I really love tour reviews and you have influenced me to by games I'd never even consider and I've never regretted taking your advise. thanks you again and keep up the awesome work. I hope my message is clear enough as I used translator for english😊. thank you.
Wonderful video. Thanks for letting us know about this new game. I am more interested now after your video ...
Great review as always. Who needs the music? I always mute music.
ACG what VR hardware did you use for the vid pal?
Wow I've been waiting for this review. Would you say it's worth buying the vr system just for this? I'll pick up other games too
I've been having a lot of problems with the PS4 controllers, not able to reach down enough to reliably hit the chair buttons. I don't sit in straight chair though, I'm in a recliner. I've been having to sit forward and raise my head as much as I can, reset the camera, then sit back down and hope by sitting back I'm correctly positioned to have a chance to hit the right buttons.
dude I finally received a new vive controller back from reparation today and there are so many vr titles out for the vive that I want to try. Superhot, Bridge Comander, Gorn release!!!Fuck yeah. Q: Karak, how do you feel about Onward? probably the game I played the most with my Vive. And it had for me all that you said that was lacking on VR. depth, gameplay and it is a social experience through and through. In no other FPS do I communicate as much with my teammates. cheers (great video as always)
You Know the Helm in Pulsar acts the same way, 0-stupid in seconds. Great vid man
Are you gonna do Tekken 7 when it comes out? Love your vids btw!
I didn't expect this would turn out so well. looking forward to trying it. Another stellar review. 😉
I really hope Ubisoft and Paramount can bring us the bridge from Next Generation's Enterprise D.
Thanks for the review!
"Pretty good voice, but not really anything good enough to open a hailing frequency for..."
lol thats one of those things that for some odd reason I said and then re-listened to and didn't remember saying it
Hahaha, that just shows how awesome you are! xD
Best Guest in a game review, Rejaku! Part of The Karakanauts Crew! haha
Claudio Gomes Captain of the USS Clusterduck
Wonder if there is any random event too stop a Toupée shipment for klingons on TOS missions :)
If you don't have others to play with, is there rooms you could join to play multiplayer?
Great vid, as usual, sir. Question, if you have the time: Is PSVR a buy or wait? How much does this game move the needle, if at all? Thanks again for the awesome content.
Oh yes. Very, very yes. I noticed@8:56 they've included the classic Captain Kirk manoeuvre known in the Academy as the "Gonna rub m'belleh! Gonna rub m'belleh! Gambit."
Tactical genius.
I like that this game is build around "Causality" as the Merovingian called it in the Matrix. Cause&Effect, Action&Reaction... and Morpheus says "Everything begins with a choice", a word that's been spoken often about in this video. Than the Merovingian replies... "No, choice is an illusion created by those with power and those without", but bloody hell... if you have a starship at your command than you have the power.
So boys and girls, listen to Spidey... "Great power comes with great responsibility". =D
I never will ever get bored of this review channel.
Anyone know if they have updated this game to fix a few of the small issues? Or even added more content? Tempted to get a ps vr with the new price drop.
Will you do a review on For Honor please? Thanks! Love your reviews!
Great vid bro
Just cancelled my physical pre-order yesterday. But I think I'll grab it digitally next week when the spend 100 get 15 is up on psn. Also hope Arizona sunshine is really out sometime in June.
hope thered unlockables in the form of different bridges. if not in vanilla release, im sure dlc will see to that
SuperTyrannical1 they have said they want to, it will probably depend on how well it sells.
just brought/order the OCULAS RIFT BUNDLE package today & STARTREK BRIDGE CREW.......IM so SIKED to get it and Play!
Does it have the Kobayashi Maru test???? :)
:) yep
Well I know how I'm gonna win that. Hacking powers activate!
Alert medical.
It most definitely does.
Well that's fucking awesome. For the first time in my life I wish I could afford VR (and a PC that could run it).
glad to see you reviewing more PSVR games
huh
Thank you for this! Just convinced me to buy!
I hope they grow this game and add more missions and I would like to see a Star Fleet Training Program. Hopefully a full experience like traveling to engineering and fixing thing manually. Man...I would be in this game for hours. UBISOFT is the shit.
Great review
the sfx alone is nostalgic, makes me wish i had VR. GTX 970 i5 4460...
Gotta say this looks fun as hell. I gotta get it if I ever grab a VR set.
Will it work on the normal PS4? (Not the pro!)
How would you say it compares with Star Trek: Bridge Commander?
This game looks amazing. I'd like to check how the 3D environment looks like. Could someone post a Stereoscopic 3D 360 or 3D 180 gameplay? Something I could view with a Cardboard or Gear VR. Maybe even 3D stills would satisfy my curiosity. Thanks.
getting the next gen enterprise on may 22nd along with Romulans and borg, im honestly shocked as the devs have been totally silent for over a year
How about a star wars ship commander where you can be vader, or akbar or be the emperor ruling over the death stars. That would be cool.Plus you can walk anyhere in the ships, you can even go into the trash compactor and fight with dianoga's.
VR is expensive no matter which route you take. A Playstation VR headset costs around $400 and over $500 for a Playstation VR bundle. The HTC VIVE costs around $800. Suffice to say, VR is quiet pricey. Having said that, VR is definitely a unique and fun experience as long as the games are good enough to justify the expensive price point. In fact, one of the best if not the best VR experience is playing Alien Isolation. Co-op party games and multiplayer games can be really fun in VR if they are done right. In regards to Star Trek Bridge Crew, the game does look really enjoyable. The graphics are pretty good for a VR title. Its definitely not a perfect experience by any stretch of the imagination. As a whole, the game is solid despite a few kinks. Thanks Karak for the awesome review as always!
Yes, I spent $799 for the Vive, used it once and didn't touch it since. After this, I think I may pick this up. Just wished that my friends could afford to get a VR system. This would be the best party game ever!
at least its crossplay with psvr
ACG yeah I recall you mentioning that which should increase the number of people to play with. I'm glad to have heard that this isn't a tech demo but actually a good game. I'll pick it up tomorrow!
Ahn Henri you need to get onward for vive
Ahn Henri Half Life 2 VR is coming this year. Also check out Onward.
Is there a good Tutorial in the game?
it's the only VR game on steam that actually displays the number of people currently playing. it's amazing 10/10.
This is a great review, time to blow the dust off my psvr
Does anybody have ANY news about the online players skill ranking system ?? There must be a way to figure out the skill level of a player in the lobby for a particular position before starting the game?
Are you playing with a standard controller?
You are literally the best game reviewer I've ever seen on UA-cam
glad you like the stuff!
Hey Karak. Went back to look at your PSVR reviews as I finally ordered it due to Sony dropping the price across the board. I found this for $10 in Target's "Bargain Bin" (Sadly, no other PSVR games were there. lol). Guess my new PSVR library will start with Star Trek and Skyrim (from the bundle). 😊
Star Wars alone is WELL worth it now. And its now got voice commands
ACG. Sweet. Thank you. And that is the Rogue One DLC with Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate Edition?
meant star trek
ACG Gotcha 👍
This looks promising, and I really adore Star Trek, though I'm not sure I'd want to lay down the cash for a single title. Especially when none of my trekkie friends would be willing to fork over the cash either. It'd be great if there were VR arcades that had entire setups that you could rent, with a replica starship bridge where you could bring all your friends for an hour or two. But the startup costs for that are probably tremendous as well.
On an unrelated note, how are VR flight combat games looking these days? Any good recommendations I should be looking in to? My biggest fantasy when I was a kid playing Ace Combat was the ability to actually look around, but all I've heard about the relevant games is that they feel like tech demos. I tried the X-Wing game on PS4 but the flight mechanics were so simplistic that I couldn't get into it. I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone has!
I let this one go because I hate co-op. But so happy it has single player. Going to buy it Friday. Great review!
Update: Hope they try making a deep space nine/station game. That would be fun.
So happy this turned out to be great! I've wanted a game like this for so many years. I grew up watching TNG and have been a huge fan of Star Trek ever since. This is basically a dream come true!
It's an old game, and hard to find, unless you were to pirate it. But there's a game for PC called Star Trek Bridge Commander--came out in 2002. Exactly like this, minus the VR aspects.
Yeah, I've definitely heard of it. It came out long before I actually got into gaming seriously. At that point, I was still just playing my gameboy and chips challenge or frogger on our crappy pc. There was also another game that came out a while ago called Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator, which looked like a cool idea in concept, but the graphics had a lot to be desired, and it didn't have online multiplayer or singleplayer, so you had to get enough friends to play with, which I didn't have. I think the VR aspect of this game is going to bring the immersion up to 11 though, and the inclusion of online matchmaking and singleplayer just makes this an easy day one buy for me.
Is it all combat or are there any missions focused on diplomacy? I would love a dynamic Trek VR game where you explored with your friends and the decisions you made with another space faring race could effect future interactions. Basically a faction system in an open world game except you play a starship crew that could choose to completely ignore the prime directive. Even if this isn't that game, I'm glad it turned out to be well made.
ya its just you as the bridge crew
Still neat. Maybe one day we will get a game like this but with options for exploration and diplomacy. A man can dream.
Best reviews out there!
Hey!
How is this game compared to Star Trek Bridge Commander?
I dont know much about VR games but you mentioned a game called Elite a few times. What game are you referring to?
Elite Dangerous
Yeah I feel like a dunce. I own the game, I should have figured that's what he was talking about. I didn't know it had VR support though.
Chanandler Bong elite dangerous?
What is it that makes some of these missions hard? Or in other words, what makes a good player a great player? Is it strategic decisions, reaction time or something else?
and some dynamic elements too and as I said in the video choices you make,. If you try to save everyone in a mission you may face a ton of enemy ships, but you can also just save a couple and escape but they may follow you to another jump location. Also different ships have different weaknesses
Am I the only one who watches ACG's reviews for games I have zero interest in? Guy takes his craft seriously, excellent stuff
which vr headset is best for this title? Oculus Rift or Vive?
both are fine
You do not need much room scale for this game.
When will you publish your review of episode 5 of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier?
Do people still play this game in VR (April 2019?) I’d like to get this game but I’m thinking it’s hard to find a game and if that’s the case I don’t think it would be worth the money.
The game looks great the only the problem I have is getting the VR. to play the game with I live In S.W. Michigan the place to stuff like.
It work to play on monitor?
No longer VR required. I got it for my normal ps4 with controller.
You should check out PULSAR:lost colony on steam. Its a game similar to this, but you can walk around the ships and steal other ships and go on planets.
