I enjoyed this game the whole way through but I definitely fell in love with it the last 2 or 3 hours when the puzzles became so much more vast that each of you depended on each other. Not to mention the emotional rollercoaster of an ending. The last 35 minutes easily shot it up to one of the most memorable game experiences I've had this generation and an easy contender for Game of The Year. Granted I watch all game reviews after I play a game and this one definitely aligned with my thoughts exactly. Great review!
Victor C Doom review I can understand, but almost every RE believes 7 is light-years ahead of 6. 7 is the the series has been since 4 and absolutely nails the survival horror essence that the shitshow that is 6 lost.
I have been a gamer since 24 years and TLG is one of the best games I have ever played in my life. The music, the pacing btw action, puzzles and just walking around, the graphics & art style, the story and I could go on forever is just so perfectly well done. This game makes me speechless and I honestly never thought I would be able to play such a great game this gen. Some of my fav games of all time are Shenmue, Zelda OOT, FF7 & SotC and I think TLG deserves for sure to be mentioned among the lines of one of the best games ever created in gaming history. Trico is the most amazing companion ever made in a video game. As I have said above SotC is one of my fav games of all time and I never thought it was possible to top SotC, but TLG actually did! Lots of kudos & praise to the devs for making such a masterpiece of a game. I beat this game today and just wanted to share my love! Just now purchased the game. I've played an alarming amount of games from 2017 till now and I can't recall any of the other games causing me to be emotionally invested like this game has. Absolutely love it!
The ending to that game made me both furious and heartbroken. Those colossi were just minding their own business or sleeping. Also, Dormin played Wander for a fool.
this game made me feel like a child all over again. i went through the whole gambit of my emotions playing this game; pure happiness, fear, sadness, joy, suspense, pain, thrill. after playing the game, its painfully obvious that this game wasnt build to be some find of cutting edge 4k ADHD 1 billion fps technological masterpiece. games can have all the best specs and still suck at conveying a beautiful story. and just like ICO and SotC, youll know that the developers aren't pushing for technical spectacles, but emotion. even hideo kojima stated he liked a little bit of a gritty, blurry aspect to his games. anyway; the seamless world with no loading times, the "you will actually go everywhere you see on the map", and the completely immersive, expansive, and emotional experience of this game completely trumps any naggy camera (which did kinda suck but honesty im used to it after ICO and SotC, (i literally think its the same camera mechanics)) and simple gameplay (which i think is the point) quibbles you may stumble over. if youre remotely into artistic, mature, deep, story driven games, buy it. now.

Jack Mae IMO Mafia 3 looks great but it doesn't add anything to my gaming experience, the same goes for watch dogs 2. something unique like blood borne and the witcher 3 is what I'm looking.

I hadn't heard of this title before watching this review. I instantly saw the similarities between this, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. It looks amazing, but I don't think everyone will like the minimalist approach. The previous two titles were very low key storytelling wise, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Looking at setting, items, sparse dialogue, enemies or other context clues as a way to tell the story can be fun; I think this series has achieved that very well. Depth packed into a small of amount of direct exposition shows true skill from a storyteller.

Great review :] Similar to what you were saying in the sound part of the review, some developers don't realize that sometimes the absence of a huge orchestral music piece in the background is just as valuable at setting a mood. I like games with those one instrument sound tracks with more focus on sounds like leaves rustling, and wind blowing, etc.

It's an absolute masterpiece in my book, incredible story, environments, soundtrack, gameplay, and design. It's a bit clunky here and there and it does show its age, but wow, the wait was most definitely worth it.

Buts its basically a very old ps3/ps2 era game brought out in 2016. The other games are amazing for their time but things have changed and advanced. A lot of people will find it to be very basic and dated by today standards

And when you get a game about solving simple puzzles with a stubborn AI for 8 hours with 10-year-old mechanics, controls and UI it really isn't worth the money.
Yeah, things have changed for the shitter. I welcome a revisit from a truly innovative and exciting time for gaming. Can't believe it's 2016 and every popular game is the same old trite shooter. "OMG Titanfall 2 is so amazing it has a semblance of a story! And humour!" Half Life 2 is still light years ahead of any shooter and that game is old as balls now.

Im talking about the issues you mentioned in this video and how you still say this game is a buy just because you liked the game. At 60 bucks you re better off renting this game since its 10 h long only.
I just beat this game. It was fantastic. The game had a lot of technical issues. Frame rate drops on the standard PS4. Terrible camera. Bad controls with a slight input lag. Several times I had to restart my checkpoint due to the AI becoming stuck and refusing to progress. But with all that said, I loved the game by the end. I was so emotionally connected to the two characters(the child and Trico) by the end of the game. It's such a beautiful story, which is surprising because there is almost no dialogue throughout the whole game. Whether you think the game is worth it right now or not, I recommend playing this game whenever you get the chance. Especially if you're a sucker for animals and want a game that finally emphasizes a relationship between you and another animal.

PS3 era graphics and still you need a PS4 Pro to maintain a stable (albeit low) framerate. No thanks. Ueda might be a great storyteller but he is an awful programmer.

Couldn't agree more. Something every PS4 owner should play. Definitely frustrating. Sometimes I would stop playing for weeks, but for the most part I refused to look at online guides. (I did once only to find I was totally going the wrong way and it was my fault.) But then I'd come back and it would suddenly come to me and it would be the most rewarding thing ever. It breaks my heart to see people arguing this is a $20 game, because on story alone, once you're done, you will have gone through quite the emotional journey and it feels totally worth full price. Love it forever, a true classic.

i don't know compared epicness of ICO and Shadow of Colossus, this game is let down especially all the time they spent on it
It's an absolute masterpiece in my book, incredible story, environments, soundtrack, gameplay, and design. It's a bit clunky here and there and it does show its age, but wow, the wait was most definitely worth it.
So happy to hear that this project turned into a good game, I've been following it for years, and now I have a little man tear rolling down my cheek :)

Buts its basically a very old ps3/ps2 era game brought out in 2016. The other games are amazing for their time but things have changed and advanced. A lot of people will find it to be very basic and dated by today standards
+nickreilly72 That doesn't actually mean anything. You're basing your opinion of this game on how SotC and ICO played, which really says a lot about the developer's inability to change tbh. And when you get a game about solving simple puzzles with a stubborn AI for 8 hours with 10-year-old mechanics, controls and UI it really isn't worth the money.
Yeah, things have changed for the shitter. I welcome a revisit from a truly innovative and exciting time for gaming. Can't believe it's 2016 and every popular game is the same old trite shooter. "OMG Titanfall 2 is so amazing it has a semblance of a story! And humour!" Half Life 2 is still light years ahead of any shooter and that game is old as balls now.
It's a really good game but ya 20-30 dollars at most. It's a walking sim but a really good one.

I just beat this game. It was fantastic.
The game had a lot of technical issues. Frame rate drops on the standard PS4. Terrible camera. Bad controls with a slight input lag. Several times I had to restart my checkpoint due to the AI becoming stuck and refusing to progress.
But with all that said, I loved the game by the end. I was so emotionally connected to the two characters(the child and Trico) by the end of the game. It's such a beautiful story, which is surprising because there is almost no dialogue throughout the whole game. Whether you think the game is worth it right now or not, I recommend playing this game whenever you get the chance. Especially if you're a sucker for animals and want a game that finally emphasizes a relationship between you and another animal.

PS3 era graphics and still you need a PS4 Pro to maintain a stable (albeit low) framerate. No thanks. Ueda might be a great storyteller but he is an awful programmer.

Couldn't agree more. Something every PS4 owner should play. Definitely frustrating. Sometimes I would stop playing for weeks, but for the most part I refused to look at online guides. (I did once only to find I was totally going the wrong way and it was my fault.) But then I'd come back and it would suddenly come to me and it would be the most rewarding thing ever. It breaks my heart to see people arguing this is a $20 game, because on story alone, once you're done, you will have gone through quite the emotional journey and it feels totally worth full price. Love it forever, a true classic.
