    For the next update on our Project 50/30 Mustang, we've added some ceramic insulation from Lizard Skin.
    Lizard Skin Sound Control is a spray-on automotive sound damping coating that is great for reducing exterior noises and enhancing sound systems for all types of vehicles. Not only does it dampen annoying rattles, vibrations and road noise, but also protects surfaces from starring and rust.
    Lizard Skin Ceramic Insulation is a spray-on thermal insulation for all types of vehicles. Ceramic Insulation is an advanced, water-based composition of a high-grade acrylic binder with ceramic insulation particles which creates a thermal barrier.
    Heat entering the interior is reduced by 30 degree Fahrenheit or more which makes for a cooler and more comfortable ride. Encapsulate the entire interior and all appropriate exterior surfaces for maximum thermal protection.

    Great product and an excellent mod over the asphalt-type of mats. Is the product going to be available from CJ or is it going to be a direct source from Lizard Skin?

  • @aojohn2

    do you really need both of them? I was thinking just the ceramic insulation because it deadens sound too right?

  • @robo2901

    One further question. Did you guys do the top of the gas tank when the car was finished being put together?

    Hello, I had asked a question in many places regarding using seam sealer prior to spraying Lizard Skin. It looks to me as if you haven't used seam sealer. I just received a response from Marx at Lizard Skin who said, "...You can use LS as the seam sealer." Wish I'd have know this prior to buying the tubes and cans of seam sealer. Think I'm still going to use them and use the Lizard Skin over them for added protection but it sounds as if you don't have to. Any input from CJ appreciated.

      We did seam seal the car before the lizard skin was applied.

    How did the product respond to being cleaned away and welded next to when you put the seat risers in? Did it retain adhesion, or start to peel away when either cleaning the weld surfaces or actually welding in the seat risers?

      We ground it off like you would with undercoating and then resprayed the area when we were done welding.

    How much did the the 2 gallons of each product cover? im hoping to buy the same amount as you guys for my coupe and was wondering if i would be able to get floor, roof and even trunk if i can.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 7 років тому

      The two gallons covered all of the floor including the trunk area and up the pillars. There might be enough for the roof if you do a thin coat.

    Interesting. Can someone please clarify, do you need to have primer before you apply the LS? Why can’t it go directly to the metal?

    • @T0YCHEST
      @T0YCHEST 4 роки тому +1

      Pat Car because it's water based and it will be wet for a whole day so 2 things metal will absorb the water in the product not letting it cure properly and it will rust the panels, primer is like a plastic barrier to protect the metal.

      +That Guy It is meant to be sprayed on. You could probably use a brush but I wouldn't recommend it.

    You mentioned the car will need 4 gallons total. Is that 4 gallons SC and 4 gallons CI? Or 2 gallons SC and 2 gallons CI?

    Why are they spraying floor when the seat pans need to be welded in? And how bout lizardskin do they have a product for underbody?

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 8 років тому

      We made custom seat brackets for the car and did not need the factory platforms.

    Must add at least 60+ lbs to the car, 8 gallons of that stuff!!! But will be worth the heat control, my 1st gen Viper GTS could NOT be driven with sandals because of all the heat coming through the floor!!!

      mikesanto70 60lbs doesn't seem bad for a viper need that traction control lol

    how does the product dry? does it cure hard? is it suitable for carpet replacement? building for road race and minimal interior.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 7 років тому

      It has the feel of undercoating when installed. It is not as thick as a bedliner material but would be fine in my opinion for a race car.

    • @KindredAutomotive
      @KindredAutomotive Рік тому

      6 years later but probably not a good idea for road race if you’ve ever seen what happens to rubberized coatings in a fire. A lot of regulations require removing all this stuff from the passenger area depending on the series.
      I’d go with something on the underside if you needed to.
      We also use to section the carpet with some heavy insulation underneath and just throw that in to drive around town. Makes a HUGE difference in sound and pulls right out for races.

    You have got to be kidding me. A 2 gal bucket of the sound control is $200 bucks from Eastwood so that's $400 in sound control. A one gallon bucket of ceramic insulation is $110 so that's $440, $840 just for the liquid and then you have to buy the equipment which is $120, $960 plus s&h and taxes. That's a little high for most people.
