I know there's ships, power armor and most likely ground vehicles, but I also hope there's a plan for mechs on the back burner. Seems like the only tech that's missing from this sci-fi universe. This is absolutely amazing.
power armour is as far as we'll get for 'mechs'. Noting that if they did one it's be realistic (within the setting), so it'll be expensive for its capability, slow, hard to hide, easy to target, high signatures, easy to disable, hard to armour, and low weapon capacity for its size and cost. :P But we've been told 'no' on more than one occasion.
I bet my Titan is pretty old too. It even looks similar to a Zeus. Someday I will get one. This looks like a great explorer ship. And I'm going to be an explorer.
31:35 I think the new team will start the development of the BMM from scratch. Maybe take some information from the current state, of course, like the new weapons, its hangar for the Defender, its medbay and whatever else came, but it still looks like the current BMM will end up in the trash. It's a pity for the lost time, but that's how it is sometimes when not enough precautions have been taken to avoid exactly that. I'm still very grateful to CIG for talking as openly as possible here. But you could tell that they didn't want to say the most obvious thing, and that is that it will start all over again. This is all well and good, now can you explain why they are releasing the zeus in WIP when they have such a big backlog they still need to work on ? I'm all up for Cheering and stuff but sometime you need to criticize.
@@fixo5132 you are not wrong but still, most backlog ships are HUGE so the Zeus will actually be completed first due to it needing way less technoligy (modularity, science, repair, etc) and it also is smaller. Apparently, we still have 12 ships coming by the end of the year too. Even still, as much as I would love to have ships like the BMM now.. What would be the point? My criticisms are more towards gameplay, stability, and in-game progression (which they also addressed). Only time will tell.
I was just thinking about how fast I pledged for the Zeus ES. I think that's the fastest I've ever spent money just mins after CIG put it up for a concept sale. "Gold Standard" isnt an final stage - it always getting updates to itself. That's the best music choice to show the BMM but now to try and get a kraken when its able to be bought if my work schedule works with the timed release but i don't think it will
Talking about how CIG is great because it's a transparent and honest company, lol. Then why did your entire senior team just up and leave, effectively halting all progress on the BMM for years to come? 🤔
Any speculation on what the ship @36:59 is? I first thought its the RSI Galaxy, but the position of the bottom weapon and rear section looks different.
Hey - from the shape /size and position of gun, that looks like the Zeus. 36:42 looks like the question mark to me, like maybe a RSI medium fighter (checked the size on the Apollo as that was a thought, if the website is accurate, which it often isn’t, it doesn’t seem to be that). That’s my thoughts 😅
Great see the ship talk our in HD, been a bit of a wait! Fantastic work. Wish CIG had disclaimer on Polaris volley into Idris ship that PDS were not running, just like in another panel a disclaimer should have been on Hammerhead simulation its turrets hitpoints were greatly reduced to show ship subsystem damage.
"People ask us what the timeline is for the Merchantman and we say, it's something we'd really like to do. People want to know what we're doing, and we tell them we fantasize about telling them it's done a LOT." The problem, CIG, isn't that the Merchantman has hit roadblocks. It's that you are, by your own accounts, not really doing anything to recover from it, and not even putting it on your roadmap/pipeline to recovery.
Can't believe how much time they spent talking about the Zeus Mk2. Interior is quite nice, but exterior really doesn't feel like it's close to the OG. Not to mention, they spoke about the smooth bottom of the ship..... Multiple times.... But never really showed it.
The Zeus ES has a Large radar but no holosuit... the 400i that has a Medium radar but does have a holosuit. How does this differ and how will it affect exploring?
28:30 when those ship designers are done drawing NFTs and try to come back to CIG, please don't re-hire them. The grass was greener on the other side of the fence. Let them stay there.
I'd like to take the opportunity to do so in this thread. It looks good, but I have the following concerns: 1. Main corridor is too narrow. - In video games it's better to have wider walkspaces. Just as a precaution. CIG has done it for the Zerus Mk.II, so hopefully the same treatment will be given the Polaris as a ship designed for much larger crew. 2. The upper level of that bridge could use a holotable or hologlobe to fill in the blank space. - Such a simple addition would certainly benefit those who intend to use the ship for its declared purpose of "being a militia flagship". I think it'd just look cool up there - both as the first thing you see when you enter the bridge, and as the background when you look into it from the outside. It would also add some cover (some better than none, right?) for the bridge crew in case hostile boarders attempt to breach the bridge. 3. The ship seems to have lost its ability to fire all 5 of its front-mounted turrets at a target directly ahead of it. - Two top mounted seen to have lost clear forward firing arc at zero elevation, meaning the ship may no longer be able to bring all 5 of its forward facing turrets to bear against a target that is right in front of it. That was a notable selling point. Hopefully, the Polaris will get that ability back for the crews that decide to face their enemy literally head-on (accepting all the risks therein). 4. Corridors on the sides of the main hangar feel like a waste of space. It would have been better to replace them with decently sized medbay and brig, as opposed to leaving both of them as afterthoughts integrated into those corridors. If there must be corridors running around the hangar, perhaps they may be integrated above the brig and medbay. Alternatively, the brig and medbay may be integrated above those corridors. I think so long as both facilities are properly fleshed out and protected from accidental exposure to vacuum, either option is fine. 5. Main engineering and torpedo compartment should be isolated from the cargo bay by internal airlocks. - Opening cargo bay must not depressurize the torpedo compartment, or put main engineering at risk of depressurization. Functionally, cargo bay should be treated as an area exposed to vacuum. Better safe than sorry. 6. It would be wonderful if there was a small cargo elevator leading from the corner of the main hangar down to the cargo bay below. - I believe it was mentioned in Inside Star Citizen episode dedicated to revised deck plan of the Polaris. Such a little, yet so convenient addition would be appreciated by those who bring in cargo aboard via shuttle, or keep replacement parts for their fighter in the cargo bay. 7. Polaris' original concept has shown some external windows in its canteen. Perhaps those windows may still be added, but be covered under sliding armor shutters (like its hidden side turrets). - Not really important, but since devs love to add rule of cool features, this could be one of them. Perhaps, another such window may be added in crew quarters, captain's quarters, etc. 8. Removal of remote top/bottom missile turrets is acceptable, if missile tubes at the front have reloads, and can be targeted independently by turret operators. - Otherwise it's a notable loss in terms of the ship's anti-fighter/bomber deterrent. Even if those missiles won't really hit anyone, they should have 360 degree coverage around the ship. 9. Docking ring disappeared from the concept again. - A ship of this size needs a proper airlock/docking ring. Just don't put it too closely to the bridge, armory or engineering. 10. Any external elevators for the crew and small cargo to avoid opening the ramp every time? - That would have been great, so long as it's not too close to the bridge, armory or engineering. 11. Rear top/bottom gun turrets should be placed on slightly elevated positions to at least a little alleviate obstruction to their firing arcs caused by engine nacelles. 12. Due to very limited internal space, it may be wise to replace manned turrets with remote turrets, and put all turret operator stations at the bridge or in torpedo compartment. - This will free some space to better flesh out the ship's internals, resulting larger living quarters, mess hall, armory, etc. Seems like a great tradeoff (for a compact and modern ship like the Polaris) to me.
Why does the Polaria have everyone so excited? What makes that ahip special? Does ot have some history that Im unaware of? I've only recently discovered these two games and Im binging all the content I can. But Im late to the party clearly and o feel like I'm missing all the inside jokes. Lastly. I know Squadron 42 and Star Citizen are 2 different games. But do they both take place in the same universe? Will events in SQ42 have any sort of impact for SC? Next for mw might be Wikipedia because I feel lost still about the history of the development of these 2 games.
Did you not see the Scorpius launch from inside the ship? What about the massive missiles it launched, the massive interior. The ship is an absolute unit. That's why everyone is excited for it
Never been a fan of the Polaris myself, not my style at all. Squadron 42 was originally going to be kind of an optional "tutorial" of sorts for Star Citizen. When you completed SQ42 you would leave the military in your past and head out into the 'verse and civilian life. It still kind of sits in that spot lore wise, but it's a completely separate game now that takes place at an earlier date than the start date of Star Citizen. People who have completed Squadron 42 will still unlock their former military ship in Star Citizen. SQ42 appears to be centered around a war that is history for Star Citizen.
@@Anything4Protein I did and it looked cool but so did many other ships. By the way the crowd reacted I thought it was special. Like the Millennium Falcon would be if Star Citizen was Star Wars. But I guess it's just a cool ship people are excited for.
@@Fairburne69 It's been put into production multiple times just to be on the backburner again, part of it being wrong dimension from the start and missing features in the concept image versus what was given as bullet points, as well as some people leaving CIG and new people joining. So a whitebox-model being in-game gets quite a few people excited. EDIT: Also note, that it's like a mini-base/Flagship for smallish Organisations, as it has a lot of minimum capabilities packed into a rather small footprint: - Medbed, to remove injuries (for FPS players or people who lost their ship in combat but didn't outright die) - Parking space for land and space/air vehicles (For multi-purpose operations, including mining, holding ground, assaulting an area) - capital sized (size 4) shields (for a really good durability - about the power of 10 Size 3 shields - Large torpedoes, so you can actually fight other capitals (to a limited degree) - Decent gun coverage with a decent amount of firepower coming from turrets, so that you aren't beholden to just leaving or dying to some fighters (the shields also help a lot here) - Only medium amount of crew needed (around 12) , which plays right into the hands of smaller orgs (and larger ones, at least until the Idris overtakes that role) All of these features are things that a smaller group of players would love, as it gives a good deal of options, without needing to bring 5+ ships, risking a lot of lost time waiting up for people who's ship was destroyed, or is still waiting on reclaiming etc.
It kind of makes no sense that we have such old ships in the game. If there are several companies who mass produce ships, then it's like cars nowadays. There are so many new models and barely anyone drives a 50 year old car. No one would fly a 200 year old ship. You especially have to consider that with the progress of technology, they could bring out new ships in less time gaps
I'm really annoyed you guys have forgotton your first backers, alot of us bought freelancers as our first ship and there is no rework for the freelancer in sight. Rework the important ships dont just release new ones.
Variants... I thought you guys were doing SHIP MODULARITY.... The idea was we could retrofit our ship to cover multiple roles depending on our modular loadout we acquire.
If that Zeus comes out and it no longer has a window I'll fight everyone in ship development.
Yeah I'm not buying any ships that don't have good windows.
It already lost the one on the side of living quarter (they updated the holo model on the website)
@@CerealGwarf nice catch... lame they removed that one. Would be cool to have the window next to the single bed for a nice view

Talking about how CIG is great because it's a transparent and honest company, lol. Then why did your entire senior team just up and leave, effectively halting all progress on the BMM for years to come? 🤔
still hoping to see the hacking legionnaire and other data gameplay be similar to terminal based games like uplink and hacknet
This is awesome content!
Connie owners sitting there like =')
Where’s the RSI Zeus ST Chris?! Release it and take my money!
Great see the ship talk our in HD, been a bit of a wait! Fantastic work. Wish CIG had disclaimer on Polaris volley into Idris ship that PDS were not running, just like in another panel a disclaimer should have been on Hammerhead simulation its turrets hitpoints were greatly reduced to show ship subsystem damage.
that volley on the Idris was an example of squashing PD by the volley of smaller missiles from the Vanguard.
I want you to get the merchantman out and done too.
Only 213 ships?? C'mon CIG, those are rookie numbers, you guys gotta pump those up!
they have said that they have as many ships planned for release after the game's fully released as we've already seen so far.
Very nice panel guys, THX
What in the bejesus did that polaris hit the idris with there? A size 10 torpedo? That idris must have been softened up and shields down.
Origin x1 FTW!!!
So... why does Starfield have so many loading screens?
16 times the loading screens. It just works
25 years in the making.
Rework the Freelancers PLEASE!
Here we go!
when new origin ship?
Can't believe how much time they spent talking about the Zeus Mk2.
Interior is quite nice, but exterior really doesn't feel like it's close to the OG.
Not to mention, they spoke about the smooth bottom of the ship..... Multiple times.... But never really showed it.
I dream for an Anvil bounty hunter ship in the similar size to the Zeus MkII and with similar capabilities.
32:24 What is this "Senior Exodus" of 2022 he's refering to ?
Ok but 600i rework? 🥺
They didn't mention the Alf for the crayons and the Alf for the Banu in the Merchantman.
If they can get the performance to be decent and minimize lag/warping players this game will be great
why theres smoke in space from the rockets ?
Why is the first half of the BMG for the banu merchantman sound like the avengers thene
New ships!!! :)
I remember when all you could do was walk around a hanger.
The Zeus ES has a Large radar but no holosuit... the 400i that has a Medium radar but does have a holosuit. How does this differ and how will it affect exploring?
get both and find out
@@thekaxmax no
put the spoiler from the Zeus St on the others!
The exterior of the Banu merchantman looks nice, but the interior makes no sense. I guess some people like a standing out "alien" design.
Cant wait till se get non Citizen Con content. Its been like 2 weeks now
YES!!!!
That's a good talk :D
still hoping Kruger will make dose large ships that they was aiming for (lore)
28:30 when those ship designers are done drawing NFTs and try to come back to CIG, please don't re-hire them. The grass was greener on the other side of the fence. Let them stay there.
Im really sad about the design of the BMM. The older darker design looked way better than the cubby one.
Can anyone preoder either pr both of these games and play them in their Alpha State?
I'd like to take the opportunity to do so in this thread.
It looks good, but I have the following concerns:
Just when I thought I didn’t need to buy any more ships…
EDIT:
Also note, that it's like a mini-base/Flagship for smallish Organisations, as it has a lot of minimum capabilities packed into a rather small footprint:
- Medbed, to remove injuries (for FPS players or people who lost their ship in combat but didn't outright die)
- Parking space for land and space/air vehicles (For multi-purpose operations, including mining, holding ground, assaulting an area)
- capital sized (size 4) shields (for a really good durability - about the power of 10 Size 3 shields
- Large torpedoes, so you can actually fight other capitals (to a limited degree)
- Decent gun coverage with a decent amount of firepower coming from turrets, so that you aren't beholden to just leaving or dying to some fighters (the shields also help a lot here)
- Only medium amount of crew needed (around 12) , which plays right into the hands of smaller orgs (and larger ones, at least until the Idris overtakes that role)
All of these features are things that a smaller group of players would love, as it gives a good deal of options, without needing to bring 5+ ships, risking a lot of lost time waiting up for people who's ship was destroyed, or is still waiting on reclaiming etc.
Based and Zeus pilled.
The Zeus is not in-game. The Zeus Mk. II is a modern reboot of the old ship.
@@ksl-988 i am not specifically speaking about the Zeus
RSI Aurora????
I'm really annoyed you guys have forgotton your first backers, alot of us bought freelancers as our first ship and there is no rework for the freelancer in sight. Rework the important ships dont just release new ones.
Again they show the old model of the Polaris I rea
ly hope they are not going to bring it this way xD
Where dirt bike? 🥲
I wish the kraken come with pyro
Kraken when???????????
Ok, from that moment you start to pay the money.
I kinda wanted an old-school shuttle for a Zeus. : /
My 4080 is waiting, please hurry
9:00 10:10 11:31
For those wanting just the silhouettes: 36:16
wtf is that torpedos
they just put a giant hole on idris
Variants... I thought you guys were doing SHIP MODULARITY.... The idea was we could retrofit our ship to cover multiple roles depending on our modular loadout we acquire.
variants are for ship subtypes that require hull changes.
Did they say that every single ship will be modular? I thought some ships would be and some wouldn't.
GIVE ME MY IDRIS
The "Awws" of disappointment after revealing the Zeus MK 2 had rolling 🤣
first
Hey
