HOLY SHEET! I hadn't caught that shot. It's been about 3 years since I last played but from what I remember my caterpillar was huge and the Privateer is at least 3x the length and many times the width.
Thanks for all the compliments on the video everyone! Please take a moment and hit that thumbs up button if you want more of these. I got a good one planned for the next Shipyard episode!
So glad this series is back - there's nothing else out there that goes as deep nor so well presented! I'd love to see a video on the Javelin or the Pioneer.
@@STARJUMP_GRIMI wonder what changes we'll see to the Kraken in light of modernization. I own both, but have been so excited for Privateer. As they stand now, BMM looks like a lot more value per pledge dollar.
I believe the most recent run through of the weapons was 2 x S8 on the nose, a dual S5 dorsal turret, a dual S4 turret under each wing, and the 4 S3 point defense weapons.
Thank you for the hard work on putting this together as it is always much appreciated for the top notch presentation and visuals. Plus the non speculative content is helpful for those trying to make decisions on if they have aspirations of owning the ship someday. The Merchantman is quite a useful ship in general, although I do not envy any loadmaster or longshoreman who has to move cargo in bulk from such beast.
Superb video Grim. I like to imagine a BMM owners meetup on a planet somewhere. We'll probably need vehicles just to get to all the other BMMs. The servers are gonna melt that day.
I finally manage to "forgett" and not be excited about my BMM for over a year. However aftrer seeing this video, you managed to put it right back into the front of my mind and i'm starting to feel that same excitement and hype, knowing it is still years away....
I just want in the interior to have tevarin screen tech so in the hallway and rooms to have this(so it can act as windows). It's also has two turrets on the bottom of the wings one turret on each side with size 4.
I can't freaking wait for my BMM. I was lucky enough to get it for $250. The BMM is going to be my daily flyer, my home, my business, my life. The BMM has me beyond stoked with excitement! She will make Origin 890's like like a discount carnival cruise ship when she's done.
I wonder when this ship will get some more love, and how smoothly this gameplay will go. All of their ships are works of art. Love what you and the team have done with the Shipyard fleet configuration tool!
Really interesting ship! I was dead set on one for a long time, still have the ccu but the size of this thing is getting wild. Much tbd so for now we all wait.
I do not envy the team that eventually takes on the BMM. It's going to be a positively monumental undertaking, just going off the internal design elements, with all the smooth lines, and very few spaces that can be repurposed to speed up development.
two things ill point out is the minimum crew is about 5 and thats 1 person per turret a pilot and 1 engineer because it should be easy to maintain then the other thing was its able to be a trade in space because it has docking collars and that hanger bay so you can dock at stations or ships or have other shuttles land on you and you can then trade like the MPUV cargo
This is one of the ships I'm most excited for! I was devastated when they shelved it, but then I realized that the later it comes, the better it'll actually be when I get it!
The Banu Merchantman is one of the most unique ships in SC, or at least is hoped to be. A mobile market that aggregates you or your orgs variety of crafted products. No other ship fills that same functional space, except the Kraken Privateer.
Question, last I read, while the Privateer is listed as having 768 SCU of cargo, it is also listed as having 189 SCU of cargo for each of its 10 shops. This would give it at least 1890 SCU if not 2658 if the other 768 is added to that. That said how that individual shop cargo will be accessible is also questionable. Any more thoughts/info on that? Fun video by the way. Considering the cost of other capital ships, I really have a hard time seeing the BMM not exceed $1000 in price if not get closer to around $1200-$1300ish or more from the "alien tax" as people call it.
Seeing some big ships kinda have a little speed or maybe a fast top speed but slow acceleration and takes a while to reach it . . Definitely can see a weekend out on the BMM tho. Good looking ship.
I'm kinda imagining the BMM as a exploration ship that can support itself. Going from planet to planet buying and selling, taking odd jobs, seeing what new customers are out there. For me it'll be a sense of freedom to live my own Firefly/Serenity gameplay.
It's a milkcow for a fleet. Hauling everything from food to ammo. One of these, a starfarrer, and an endeavor could technically go further than any one could follow without the same set up. But even then, they'd need the endeavors telescope to find you, leaving behind the critical food production of the farming pods. Lol...
Simply an amazing job. It will definitely be interesting to see how this ship shakes out. In the ISC concept images also showed a security area with a brig which to my mind means that the BMM can also be used to transport bounties back to the security center in another star system.
Merchantman would be such a sweet ship. Design team did 'em wrong. Although I'm a solo player and I'd never be able to crew it, I think it's an awesome thought when you consider being able to sell goods when crafting comes online.
Hopefully the BMM will be benefited all for the better with it's delays. I know folks want it, but i'm glad ships are being released in a state that can facilitate all of the systems out of the gate. The fewer the reworks, the better
CORRECTION: 04:34 - "The top turret is a dual size 5 turret. Not a dual size 7."
You know why they call the BMM a venerated generation ship?
Because it takes several generation of CIG developers to get it into the game.
No bull there. Ordered mine 4 years ago and at 63, I'm seriously wondering if I'll see it before I shuffle off this mortal coil.
@@The1stDukeDroklar that’s crazy that you might not survive the BMM lmao
@@gravitybeatz9150 I'll have to place it in my will lol

The Privateer with the Caterpillar on it's pad is a great shot. (16:45)
These ships are going to be humonguous.

someone called me?
Can’t even remember how many years ago I pledged for the Merchentman but when I look how the price gone up it was a good buy.
Carrier has arrived!
One of these days I'll get to fly it. And it will be glorious
I expect to be happy in 2025 🎉
Another fantastic installment in this series, great job Grim! Would love to see an episode on the Perseus and / or the Liberator!
Liberator, yes! My favorite! It hurts me so much that it's not being worked on without it being addressed.
Perseus for sure please!!! 🙏
I would agree! Please will You be making some more? Your videos are of such high quality work!

Awesome overview into the Banu Merchantman. Would love to see a Carrack and Odyssey ship look in the future.

MY BMM!!! The longer they wait the better this ship better get!
I love how alien and functional the design feels.
Banu style feels so alien yet elegant. Love it.
I would love one of these, its sick
The interior concept art blew me away. Banu luxury!
The alien aesthetic is so unique; I love the Banu style.
Starlancer is def my favorite MISC ship so far. Really like how stocky it is, gives it some really nice visual presence
Absolutely top notch production value yet again. Thanks for your hard work!

I guess the difference there is the Kraken feels more like a space port and less like you're visiting an 890J
The Merchantman feels like the centerpiece of any trading fleet.

I have to admit I am liking this series, a ship I would like to see is the Pioneer or Liberator, maybe do one for each.
What about the cnou pioneer for next ship review 😊
Been considering exactly that
