Wet blendng explained in two seconds and for the first time ever, I understand. Thank you!
Thank you Laurent! I'm glad you found it useful :)
Ditto!
legit. I've watched a few tutorials on wet blending all of which seem to overexplain it. Sorastro comes in and mentions it in seconds and I grasp it so much better...
A fun trick I found was if you use a plastic clear ornament that you find in hobby stores for 7 bucks, you can cut it to make it look like the bubble shield
They also 3d print cool ones on ebay and etsy.
My god these look amazing. You are the best painting UA-camr I’ve ever watched
That's very kind - thank you! :)
Love it. I don't even have the game, but these guides are so well shot and so enjoyable it's just a pleasure to watch. Thank you Sorastro.
Thanks so much! That really means a lot to me 😀
Not in vain i set as an example your channel for my subs when telling them about painting miniatures.
Excellent job as always.
Thank you kindly! :)
you prolly dont give a damn but does someone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost my password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Kelvin Ameer instablaster :)
@Alexis Alaric thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Alexis Alaric It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you really help me out :D
Dude...I followed along with this video for the droidekas and they turned out sick af!!! Learned wetblending in 5 seconds where other videos that I sat through with glazed eyes!!
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks a lot buddy, I'm really glad your droidekas turned out well! 😀
Your skill level is amazing. Just rewatched your Zombiecide painting zombies. Still look fantastic. Your Star Wars/Marvel stuff is incredible.
Thank you so much my friend! 😁🤗
I have no idea how you do it but every tutorial you do makes painting look so effortless, especially OSL!
Thanks so much Alex! I really appreciate that :)
So simple, amazing job! I appreciate the citadel paints that you mentioned as an alternative.
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you found the video useful 😀
Wooow the blending and OSL look awesome! I dont have these figures, but i will definitely transfer these techniques to the ones i do have!
Thanks buddy! :)
Personally i think that you are a clear winner in how you paint your legion figures, you are one of the reasons I'm getting into legion myself.
I have trouble painting the commando droid set, maybe you could try painting them sometimes?
That's very kind - thank you! I'll try to get to the Commando Droids soon.. 😀
The video has finally passed through the shield generators!
Ha ha - yes! 😄
I went from thinking these relatively uninteresting minis to being fully intrigued by the time you were done with them. The blended metallics and the blending of purple tones into the shading really makes them look fantastic.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that :)
The color is gorgeous!!! As always, excellent paint.
Thanks so much 😀
as always, amazing results with simply explained and demonstrated techniques.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate that kind feedback 😀
I've tried OSL before but didn't really understand it, but you gave a simple and perfect explanation. Thanks!
Awesome, thank you! I'm glad you found it useful 😀
I just bought some new Droidekas yesterday, and I wanted to paint them tomorrow. This video has perfect timing
Fantastic! 😁
Wow, really easy application and Very Effective results. I MAY have to copy this for my droids :)
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like the approach I took with them :)
So look so great. I might actually paint my droids from the core set now
Thank you Jonathan - go for it! :)
This makes me want to buy the clone wars set just to paint these they look amazing , there’s more paint on your hands than on the minis!
Ha ha - thanks! Guilty as charged 😁
Hi
I found your channel by searching videos of Star Wars legion B-1 battledroids a while ago, since then probably watched the video twenty times because it’s on one hand very entertaining because of the level of professionalism and on the other hand because of the relaxing sound of your voice, maybe sounds strange but I also very often put it on for me to fall asleep not that it would be boring in any way but like I said the relaxation I feel watching it
That being said I really think that your channel is by far the most professional and dedicated one in the painting/tabletop community,in a level that even a channel of a billion dollar company can’t reach in my opinion.
I’m definitely going to support you on Patreon in the next months going forward
Great work.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind feedback, and I'm glad you find the video(s) relaxing. 😀
Love to see your use of the contrast paints!! Always get excited when a new Sorastro video come across my feed!! Always inspiring and gets me excited to paint my own figures!! GO SORASTRO!!
Ha - thanks so much my friend! :)
My friend just got a box of these a few days ago, super timely!
Excellent! :)
Just amazing and a great use of directional lighting.
Thanks a lot John! I'm glad you liked the lighting shenanigans :)
These look amazing I can’t wait to try and paint my droidekas like this as well as experimenting with the blaster effects with other minis
Thank you! I'm glad you found the video useful :)
Great painting tutorial. Glad to see you continuing the range.
Thank you! 😀
Another informative and entertaining video! I'm already planning more applications for the colors and blending you used for the armor on those miniatures.
Thanks a lot Michael! I'm pleased you found the approach I used for the armour useful :)
You are the man Sorastro. I love these videos. Please keep them coming! Haha
Thanks Kevin! The next episode is already in the can.. 😄
The king strikes again. Nice work.
Thank you sir! :D
If only you had posted this a day earlier before I finished my droidekas!
Doh! :)
wow this is amazing i can't wait intill you do the commando droids (rember the leader has a different face pattern then the others).
Thanks a lot! I can't wait to paint the Commando Droids! :)
Ypu have such amazing skill and I am still shocked withe every video I watch!
Wow - thank you so much! :)
Great work in only few steps
Thank you Pedro! :)
Droidekas are sooo sexy!! I love how you painted them, really does them justice. I should get some legion models myself
Thank you! I’m glad you like them 😀
lovely patina effect on the armor :)
Thank you, Matthew! 😀
Another amazing job as always!
Thanks a lot Fertona! 😀
Que hermoso trabajo, gracias por subir este contenido
Thanks so much Daniel! 😀
Love, love and love
🤗😁
Amazing as always. I was waiting on painting my Droidekas until I saw how you would paint their hulls. Thanks!
Thank you! I’m glad the video was helpful 😀
Wow...just...absolutely wow. Wow.
Thanks Chad! I'm glad you like it :)
I sprayed it citadels "lead belcher followed by mixing "world bearers red" with "Hoeth blue" (about 60/40 red/blue)to create a browny maroon colour then layered it with "agrax earthshade" to make it a bit darker and add shine, let it dry and added a drop more to spots I wanted to be darker like the edges or along centre to look like it's been worn from rolling
great job on this video! do you think you'll do a Gavw tank painting guide in the future? That would be very helpful!
Thank you Hayden! Honestly I'm not sure if or when I'll get to that tank tbh, but I will be covering the AAT.. :)
Another great video. I would worry about using the metallic paints in the wet palette. I think the metal flakes could contaminate, but I'm paranoid. Thanks for sharing and stay safe!
Thanks Rob! Your wet palette is lucky to have you for its owner 😄
@@Sorastro you made my kid jump when I suddenly burst out laughing. Thanks for that, especially in these serious times a good laugh is a true gift.
I also have the same concerns about metallics on my wet palette. @Sorastro’s Painting, have you seen any flake contamination in yours? As always, I enjoy expanding my skills by watching. Currently working on coming up with good color schemes, so I love seeing how these colors work together!
Your painting guides are amazing. Please can i ask if you have done the Star wars legion Escape pod with R2 and C3po i couldn't find a guide, so guessing you may not of done it. Was hoping for some advice on colours to use please.
Thanks a lot! I'm afraid I haven't painted the Escape Pod expansion yet. But I did paint the Imperial Assault R2 and C3P0 a few years back which might give you some colour ideas... :)
@@Sorastro thank you
Love the video, for some reason I never seem to get my Zenithal Primer technique to look like yours. Mine always seemed to contain much more black, or gray to it after I do my white coat
Sorastro, you da man! 👊🏻
Ha - thanks buddy! :)
Another sorastro painting tutorial? this will make a fine addition to my collection.
Ha ha - thank you! 😄
Brilliant as always I would like to ask if you have any advice and tips on painting the empire's shore troopers
Thank you! Here you go: sorastro.com/2019/10/08/shoretrooper-pdf-guide/ :)
Thanks for the tips
You're very welcome! 😀
Thanks for another awesome tutorial! After you finish the starter set for Clone Wars, do you think we will see an AAT tutorial?
Thank you! Yes - I've actually finished the last video for the CW Core Set (to be released once approved) and I am indeed planning to paint the AAT next 😀
@@Sorastro I have noticed you mention before that you need approval for you SW:L videos. Why is that? Who approves your videos?
@@craigjones7343 Hi! My Legion videos have to go through licensing approval with Lucasfilm (as I produce them in an "official" capacity) 🙂
@@Sorastro oh cool. I hope you are able to have more videos approved. I really enjoy your videos and have learn new techniques from them.
These tutorials are amazing. I love these and the marvel ones. Just wish I could get my scale 75 paints to behave the same way you do! I really struggle getting the consistency right. Any suggestions?
Thanks Gareth! Firstly, just make sure you're really given them a very good shake (maybe throw in an agitator/glass or stainless steel ball bearing), and secondly you might like to try thinning with water mixed with a little flow enhancer; this can really help get the paint to flow, but without over diluting the mix. :)
@@Sorastro thank you for taking the time to reply! I'm fully loaded up on agitators now. What flow improver would you recommend? The only ones I ever seem to find are for airbrush use.
could you please do the barc speeder with sidecar next ?
Hi Adam! Yep - I actually finished the BARC Speeder video a while back, and will release it as soon as I can. 🙂
@@Sorastro Great excited for when it comes out!
Hi Sorastro! Great work and you allways have my attention in all your tutorials. Can you tell me what glue do u use for the add the grass to the bases? thanks you!
Thank you! I usually use PVA glue for the basing :)
Are you thinking about painting Jyn Erso? I would like to see your guide. Thank you
I want Droidekas up here at once!
Amazing 👍🏻
Thanks Kossy! :)
Are you looking to pick up the Arc Trooper and Commando Droid upgrade packs when they come out?
Hi Tyler! I'd love to, although it can be hard to get hold of a lot of Legion stuff here in the UK lately..
Amazing work as always! What is that liquid tack stuff to hold the models?
Thanks Daniel! I usually just use White Tack (poster putty) :)
Another great tutorial. A couple of questions:
1) for those of us not good at nmm techniques, could you highlight the black Templar with something like stormhost silver of vma chrome?
2) will you consider doing masterclasses at any point?
Thanks
Thanks Neil! 1) Absolutely! You could even dry brush some quick metallic highlights if you like 2) Do you mean like "live" classes?
Just a question as my local GS is out of Black Templar. Could I use Black Legion instead? Also any ideas for substitutes for the Victorian Brass, Old Copper and Decayed Metal?
Will you be making a guide for the arc troopers and comando droids when they come out?
I'd love to! :)
@@Sorastro I'll be looking foward to the guide
Loving the action poses :) Nice job blending on the carapace. What are SC metallics like to use? I tend to use VGA or Citadel (I prefer the coverage of citadel but drying... yeah) - are they comparable?
Thanks mate! I really love the SC metallics; I find they come of the bottle reasonably thin, so don't need much thinning; the metallic flakes/pigments are very fine indeed, and the coverage is very good. :)
That's good to hear. I might have to pick some up
It’d be nice to have budget options like what you did with the clones. For people just starting out it’s hard to buy 20 paints for 1 unit
Hi Robert! As mentioned in the video, you can stop after the base colours - skipping the OSL and highlights, thereby reducing the number of paints. You're welcome! :)
what airbrush/kit do you recommend?
TOP!
Pls now Death Troopers!
Thank you! I actually covered the Death Troopers as a PDF guide last year: sorastro.com/2019/05/01/death-troopers-pdf-guide/ 😀
Maybe someone can answer for me, what wet palette do you use? Is it the everlasting wet palette? Thankyou for your time.
Hi Kyle! Yes I use the everlasting wet palette (there might be a link in the video description?) :)
got a question since these are kinda like Warhammer paints then would it turn out the same if I used Warhammer paint?
Hi Deyash! Yes, these are all water-based acrylic paints just like the "Warhammer" paints, although the quality and precise properties of the paints might vary.. :)
@@Sorastro ah ok thanks!
Hello the vallejo matt varnish acrylic spray work ???
Hi Roban - yes that's fine! :)
So, it looks like you don't find it necessary to use the contrast specific primers?
Hi Todd! No, I don't :)
@@Sorastro awesome! Maybe that's the push I need to actually try them out
What do you recommend for thinning metallic paints?
Hi! I just use water, but I find the Scalecolor metallics don't require much thinning tbh. 🙂
*DESTROYERS!*
Every tutorial need New paint ... Valejjo AK Citadel xD
Are there any table tob games for this
Hi! Yes - these are from a miniature war game called Star Wars: Legion (which you can find links to in the video description) :)
And here I was thinking I did a pretty good job on mine...
I bet yours look fine :)
Whats your favorite faction to play ?
does anyone paint there units before putting it all together ? i find it easier.
First!
“Where are those droidekas?”
