The female representing DR was wrong when she said "Plata" o "Billullos" to refer to money in DR. in DR we say "Cuarto" to refer to money.

Even though I was born and raised in the midwest and south USA I'm lucky that my mother spoke Spanish and refused to speak English in the house. I didn't live near any Hispanics so my home was completely Spanish immersion even though my father tended to just speak English. All my friends were Anglo-English speakers. I thank God for mami. She speaks English and Spanish very well and reads both incredibly well and is educated herself. I have a PhD and I'm in healthcare. I speak funny Spanish but I speak it and people get surprised that I speak it so "well" even though I make so many mistakes. I think it's because I speak Spanish slowly because I have to think of what I am saying. I speak like Argentinians but use the Andalusian verbs that the Caribbean Spanish people use. I didn't know this but Puerto Ricans and Cubans have the purest Andalusian Spanish because they don't use very many Indigenous words like Mexicans and South Americans use. They cut the /s/ and other words like the French that were in their lands too. People think Caribbean Spanish is not good but they speak very much like Andalusian and Canary Islanders.

That's awesome! Your mom gave you a great gift, and it's amazing that you're keeping it up and keeping your love for the language. I'm hoping to spend a few years living outside the US at some point (maybe Mexico, Spain, or PR), so maybe I'll pick up some accents along the way

@@JerryRegistre I heard that the Puerto Ricans in the island/archipelago are the nicest and friendliest people compared to other Latinos. But that was just some videos from South Americans that commented on how helpful and nice they were. The Puerto Ricans they met even drove those digital nomads around the island. Insane hospitality. My luck I will probably get a grumpy one when I go! LOL

@@justhere3794 I can’t see you having a bad time in Puerto Rico 😂 I’m biased, but I haven’t had a single bad experience with Puerto Ricans-they love life and people. Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏽

As a spaniard I don’t Andalusian being very similar to the Caribbean accents. But I understand there’re similarities. Canary Islands accent it’s like the Venezuelan. Almost the same.
