    Awesome . This is the easiest method. I did mine in my backyard, it took two and a half hours. I used a 20 volt cordless Makita impact to remove the bed bolts, and a floor jack plus a 2x4 to raise the bed. Thank you for the video

      I’ve had people tell me to drop the tank which is a real pain. This is by far easier! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Most people cannot lift the bed frame off their vehicles by themselves. The more realistic process is having to drop the tank.

      Dropping the tank is an option but most times the tanks have several gallons of fuel and the fittings connecting the pumps are old and break easily. 2 to 3 guys can easily lift and prop the bed after bolts are removed. The pump is much easier to remove from the top. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Mines an 98 and the bed bolted on different. But I just tilted my bed up in the front with pump jacks so it was at a 45 degree angle and it was so easy

    My truck wouldn’t start. Tow truck driver said it was my fuel pump. He literally kicked my gas tank from the bottom a few times and it must of dislodged some sediment or debris. Truck started right up. He said I should get my fuel pump replaced asap. I got home and turned off the truck. Tried to start it and it wouldn’t work. I kicked the fuel tank to see if it would work again. It didn’t. I then read online that if you have electric fuel pump you can use fuel cleaner to dislodge sediment or debris. I went and got some and put it in my gas tank. Let it sit for 20 minutes and kicked the bottom of the gas tank. It started up no problem and continues to start up

      Sometimes the commutator bars on the electric motor on the fuel pump lose connection. When that happens you can usually bump the tank and cause the pump to rotate slightly and the it will start pumping. He’s correct in saying that it should be replaced soon. Thanks for watching!

    How long is the process and is it durable in 1 day

    • @lizardjump995

      It’s totally doable in one day. If you have the part in hand could easily do it 3-4 hours. You just might need some assistance lifting the bed. Thanks for watching!

    So I’m having an issue when I build pressure it forces fuel out of the boot on top of the fuel pump…any chance you can tell me where the fuel vent or esim is located so I can replace or unclog it mine is 95 model year.. or would just having a vented gas cap be enough to relieve that pressure?

      I’m not sure exactly where the fuel is coming out but if it is a vent issue you could try a vented cap.

    I need the part number for the connector that snaps onto the fuel pump from the fuel line.

    WHY DON'T YOU JUST DROP THE FUEL TANK?

    • @lizardjump995
      @lizardjump995  3 роки тому +1

      The tank was full of gasoline and most of the time with a vehicle that old fittings and connectors tend to break causing more headaches. The repair is much easier and faster lifting the truck bed. Thanks for watching!

      Cutting the bed is an option. I just never liked cutting holes in the truck bed. I don’t understand why manufacturers don’t just put a bolt in access door to replace the pump. Seems like a simple solution to me. Thanks for the comment!

      9 times out of 10, when the pump is dying the owner thinks he got a tank of bad gas, so the first thing he does is head for the gas station and fill it up. They almost always show up at the shop with a tank-full of gas, which is HEAVY. So, you need to offload a sh!t-ton of fuel to make the tank light enough to handle, and have place to put it while you're replacing the pump. Secondly, those old plastic fuel lines are brittle and break easily when tugging them around. Also, it's easier to unbolt the filler neck from the box than to struggle getting the filler tube hoses off. Thirdly, one of the tank strap bolts is behind the driveshaft carrier bearing.
      It's MUCH easier to just zap the box bolts loose and lift up the front end.
