- Replacing the Fuel Pump, Rocker Panel, and Parking Brake Cable on my 1997 Dodge Ram 1500.
Sorry for the unexpected ending. As a spoiler this video was filmed about 3 weeks ago, and I ended up selling the truck, but not until attempting to save the engine. In the next video I will share my futile efforts.
Andrew..you remind me of myself when I was your age.
Always tearing into anything mechanical...kicking ass getting it done. I still do tons of car, truck and tractor repairs on my stuff.
You do great video's!
Keep them coming!
Wow Andrew, I love how you’re not afraid to take on any obstacles, great attitude too! Good luck on the rod bearings, I’ll be watching for an update.
Mustie1 has some very good under body rust prevention formulas made in house with chainsaw bar oil and linseed oil.
The truck is really clean. I was thinking there would be serious rust under it and was surprised to see just rockers and surface frame rust.
Yes it is decently clean. But once you start looking close it’s pretty bad.
That's old school doing rod bearings in your driveway if you file the caps and add some saw dust in your oil you could be the reincarnation of my old man I enjoy your videos
nice work, seems your not afraid to tackle anything, meaning you even did all that to change an emergency brake cable. Then I just read after watching the video. You sold it.
Also have to say that your videos take me back to working on vehicles in my parent's drive. That and how that pickup is years older than you are. :-) I hope your part time job makes good use of your mechanical skills. I'd hate to think you were flipping burgers somewhere with all that you are able to fix and restore.
Thanks, I work full time as a heavy equipment mechanic.
Are you in college or going?
@@bluegrassson he said in another post he was starting college this year.
Dude replacing a fuel pump and welding at the same time!😮
you did a really great job fixing your truck, and that was a really good video, you should start your own business your very good at it
That black valve on the top is the roll-over valve I sold plenty of them back in the day at a Dodge dealership
That sucks bad. You’ve been giving that truck a lot of love. I’m sure if that bottom end can be salvaged, we’ll see you doing it.
im new to your channel, so i will make mistakes you sure are having your problems with that truck, your doing a great job and your videos are really interesting
Waiting to see what you'll do with the bearing fix...looking good so far...
Sweet! Lord Huron cameo.
Got it all apart, and the new parts, go for it!
Love watching ur videos man very entertaining
thank you my friend...
Are there oversized rod bearings available for this engine?
👌👌👍👍 Thanks for the video.
🤞 it’s the fix.
I just got a 2001 extended cab dodge 1500 sport and I love it. Mines got a v8 5.2 like yours. How well does yours tow? I haven’t done much towing yet and I plan to do a little light towing in the future and I was curious how your truck handled towing.
It handled great especially with trailer brakes. A little low on power and may have contributed to the engine spinning a bearing but likely just had that coming no matter what.
@@thesmallenginekid i appreciate the info
Man the way the truck started hissing and bogging down sounds like mine. Maybe my fuel pump is bad?? It never has died though it just starts doing that exact thing (hissing and running rough) it sounds cammed Lol
Mine used to die at the traffic light

To bad about the motor, quick cheap fix, the wrecking yards have a lot of them cheap in good running condition.
There was nothing wrong with the rocker you put in.
