A little background behind this clip; Stevie Ray was in Toronto for a concert, and on his down time happened to see Jeff playing in a club. He was so impressed that he invited him to sit in on this show, where he was supposed to be plugging his latest CD. Jeff showed up in street clothes, didn't have a card apparently. the reactions you see from SRV when Jeff lights it up ain't faked, that's real. SRV did Jeff a big favour and essentially got him launched. The fact that this is the one of the only clips of these legends together, that they never got the chance to collaborate again makes you think of what they really could have done had they had enough time.
Oh thanks for this background! Love Jeff, but his geeky younger brother appearance (clothes wise) is explained. Stevie is in an attractive costume, so yes, the fact that Jeff was doing an impromptu sit in....Wow , just wow!
Another thanks to you. I saw Stevie Ray at Harriet Island in St Paul a few weeks or months before he died. Never saw Healey and had no idea how amazing he was on guitar. Only knew him from my wife dragging me to the movie theater and, well, you know what movie it was, and it was the only time I ever seen Healey. God I wish I would have seen him live.
This video is bittersweet. So lovely to see them doing what they love -- So sad they both died so young. God bless their souls. You both have fans that still love & miss you!
Mr Jeff Healy RIP had jammed on my Start one night in Toronto on Chicago’s Dinner on Queen st. He walked in, sat beside me and ended up going on stage with Alix Antony and I gave him my guitar and he smoked it. I still own this guitar and it has been blessed by Jeff’s hands and spirit.
No jealousy,no upstaging, just two wonderfully talented guys jamming their hearts out together. So much passion and love for their craft.Miss them...miss those times !
That was one of the very few times I saw Jeff get so into it, that he actually jumped up from his chair during the lead. An epic performance from two of the greatest to ever do it.
Healey never got the recognition he so rightly deserved. Glad Stevie got him up onstage to jam. A few short years later and they were both gone. RIP brothers.
Jeff healey in the most underrated guitar player that ever lived, for any of you that can't tell, he blind!! I feel sorry for the people that disliked this video.
fakegibsonssuck Jeff had a quick wit. When he played in Montreux, France, someone yelled something to him. Jeff replied, "Pardon?" When that person didn't respond, Jeff said, "You'll have to speak up. I'm blind."
Man, look at the way Stevie Ray hugs Jeff Healey at the end... He stucks on him, like he wants to say "you got it kid, go on", and after have told his name on the mic, hugs him again with everything he got. Brings tears in my eyes every single time i watch this, no matter my mood. What great souls they are :)
Jeff was on fire! You know you're doing something right when Stevie is just staring intensely as your fretboard while you play a solo! Two insanely talented musicians here for sure...
Stevie played with all the greats (still living) but has said that Jeff Healey was the only one who really challenged him. SOOOO sad that both passed before reaching their peak.
Dru Chumley I have to agree. I saw it in Dallas and Beck payed first( I think he had released Guitar Shop), and I remember thinking poor SRV is going to follow this...but Stevie melted the place. He was incredible. Different styles though so to each his own
To each his own and respect to other's. For me when Beck is on form no one can touch him, but he's not always on. Healey is such a rare talent. No one plays like he does but SRV clones are 10 a penny. They're all heroes in my book!
This audience had no idea that it was seeing two of the best--before they passed away. I LOVE JEFF HEALEY AND SRV solos. Never to be repeated. Have to say--they are NOT in competition as to guitar style, they are both legends. Just enjoy the orgasmic ear quality. I do like SRV's voice, it's iconic, and Jeff Healy's guitar is absolutely epic. BTW, I think SRV is a master, and Jeff Healey would have been 95% of what SRV is at this point.
Kudos and massive applause to both Jeff and SRV. A VERY few guitar players would get on a stage with Stevie, but Jeff Healey not only got on that stage but held his own! Tremendous accomplishment. Jeff even got some "wow" expressions from Stevie as Jeff played his lead break.
Okay folks, it's real simple what we are witnessing here! The two greatest Blues guitarists of our generation! Both taken too soon! Rest in Peace brother Stevie and brother Jeff! You are missed so much by us. Thank God for this incredible moment when two legends met in the presence of us mere mortals!
oh these guys were not simply blues guitarists, sad that their categorized that way. Stevie was seriously Badass n Rockin..Bet on that n Jeff was Doin Hendrix better than Hendrix. listen 2 Along the Watchtower or When he does the Greatest Version Ever of While my Guitar Gently Weeps. These guys r Rockin like hell n Heaven at this sec. Bet on that!
Each mind blowing on their own. Putting the two together, had I been there my head would have exploded. I wish I had the opportunity to see them IRL before they passed. Another missed opportunity I will forever regret.
I loved how, when Jeff let it rip, SRV took a step back & started strumming the rhythm. That's how SRV was, though. He always gave props to other greats & never tried to outshine, even though he could have.
Shit I would be blown away just to see SRV or Jeff but to see them together.. Whoever saw this live I bet will never forget this show ! Literally once in a lifetime.. RIP Jeff and Stevie.
Hot damn! Every live version of SRV's Look at Little Sister has something magical happening. Whether it is playing through a broken guitar string or getting a blind blues boy so hyped that he leaps from his chair and does a solo without a strap, SRV delivers!
SVR and Jeff Healey playing together might be the most iconic video on UA-cam. I consider SVR to be the greatest guitar player ever. And Jeff is one of the greatest ever.
Of course Stevie was/is a legend, but Jeff Healey was a Monster in his own right. Here he is burning down the house. Luck son's of guns that were there front and center. Cheers
The thing about stevie is that he always played with so much restraint when playing with the people he truly respected. Two absolute legends. Jeff is so criminally unknown by an entire generation now
I wouldn't say he showed him up but he certainly held his own and SRV stood back and let him burn it down. Then I saw his foot touch his pedal and it was his turn. I would say they both had their moment in the sun.... no better than this. Enjoyed every guitar lick. Sweet !!!!!
Huge fan of SRV and Jeff Healey. Cannot believe I’m just seeing this video. Absolutely amazing. Love Jeff jumping out his seat and Stevie just grinning. That is pure respect between two awesome guitar players. RIP to you both. 🙏
I've seen both these guys live in concert both great concerts but here Jeff really shined. Gotta be good for Stevie to take a step back. When I seen Jeff my jaw dropped I knew he was good but seeing him live he was on another level. Damn
Damnit boy. It just doesn't get anymore badass than these two playing guitar together. When Jeff starts ripping that first guitar solo it's just jaw dropping. Such a mean tone. Incredible!
Gotta admit, the moment Jeff got up, he was playing so close to SRV i was worried that he'd hit him with his guitar neck!😂 They brought the whole building down! And that smile on SRV's face says it all.
Man Jeff Healey and Stevie Ray Vaughan they were definitely double trouble man it doesn't get no better than that that it's got to be the most amazing clip I've ever seen Jeff Healey and Stevie Ray Vaughan or rocking the halls of heaven amen there will never ever be another guitar like Stevie Ray Vaughan he and Jeff Healey were the class of their own rest in peace brothers one day we'll be hearing you again God bless
This is my favourite version of this song. Stevie's vocals were SPOT on, and MY GOD those SOLOS!!! Incredible performances by both of these genius blues stringers.
Two of the greats gone but what a noise they left behind for us to still dive in to. Both were in prime form here kicking it the way it should. R.I.P. Stevie and Jeff.
This is one of the greatest videos of all time, The Great SRV, And the Great Jeff Healey, When Jeff stood up next to SRV you can see the look on his face, What the hell this Blind guy is going to play toe to toe with me, and he did, SRV loved this May they both R.I.P., the world lost 2 Great guitar players, but we have this music forever, Cousin Figel
Makes me happy to watch Jeff and Stevie play, it's pure and deep enjoyment for my soul. But it also makes me sad that these two guys are gone cause their music played a big role in me becoming the musician I am today. I owe them too much and I will keep listening to them until I am no more. Thank you.
A night of these 2 guitar masters - same stage, both doing what they love & loving what they do. With both now gone ~ they've got to be touring beyond the Pearly Gates & raising a little Hell.
SRV's voice is like Thunder! His playing like Lightning! Healey 's guitar rains down the blues ! It's nice to see, and rare - that Stevie Ray is happy on stage, with a smile on his face when there is another main artist present! JH was considered "magical " at that time - and SRV respected that....and himself was considered all-powerful - the absolute blues Juggernaut!
massivebeatzz yeah man SRV was so happy out there that night. Jeff was so amazing and thank God for both of them. Two of the best the world had to offer
Man I wish these two guitar legends had done an album together imagine that both gone way before their time but their guitar playing will live forever true legends
I had a chance to see Jeff Healey open for Johnny Winter in Pontiac, MI. OMG, Jeff smoked the place down!! It was an outdoor venue and the stage was just a couple of steps up. I planted my chair right in front of Jeff and watched him burn all night. He played for a bit over an hour and it was simply magical. What I thought was strange was that he didn't use "real" Strats, he used 3 Squier Strats (Which is what the black one in this video is). He had a black one, a red one, and a really beatup white one that he played some Hendrix tunes on. He was an incredible guitarist, singer, and when we got to meet him, it cemented him as being one of the most humble and nice "rock stars" that I've ever met. That was a night that I'll never forget...
Thanks for sharing. Jeff and Johnny should have been one hell of a blast and prob were. Never met either personally but watching them onstage and hearing so many compliments, it is safe to say that both were very talented and damn fine men to boot. We are getting old dude, who is going to replace the talent we have lost and those next in line to go? I got a few suggestions but the pickings are slim.
Wow, Jeff is blind and is playing Healy style ! Of course Stevie is happy, and amazed as I am. Let's keep this music alive. Practice, dedication, inspiration, mutiple hours of work and shows. Great show

You've never seen Road House?
How many of you, no matter how many times you have watched an SRV video, still say to yourselves, every time, "God damn that man could play guitar!"

Both of these gentlemen were taken far too soon. I legitimately don't know if there is this much passion left in the world.

Only knew him from my wife dragging me to the movie theater and, well, you know what movie it was, and it was the only time I ever seen Healey. God I wish I would have seen him live.

Healy opened for the Cray, Vaughn, Clapton show at Alpine Valley.

That was one of the very few times I saw Jeff get so into it, that he actually jumped up from his chair during the lead. An epic performance from two of the greatest to ever do it.
probably the 100th time ive said this but the way Stevie's mouth drops when Jeff get up and shreds is heartwarming
God is enjoying both of these champions now......
Heaven must sound beautiful ❤
SRV gave Jeff the moment and he absolutely crushed it... Those guys are what music is about...respect, admiration and soul!
Two of the baddest dudes on the planet to ever wield the guitar
Stevie gave Jeff his big break in superstardom. Jeff and Joe Rockman were friends of mine.
Killing it in heaven together.
RIP Jeff & Stevie -
Only people like SRV can fully appreciate why Jeff stood up...RIP both of them
Healey never got the recognition he so rightly deserved. Glad Stevie got him up onstage to jam. A few short years later and they were both gone. RIP brothers.
It was Jeff's first TV booking. SRV heard him rehearsing in the greenroom and asked if he could play with Jeff.. Thats how good Jeff was
Jeff had cancer throughout his life
This is what i expect to hear in heaven....literally doesn't get any better than this
Jeff healey in the most underrated guitar player that ever lived, for any of you that can't tell, he blind!! I feel sorry for the people that disliked this video.

that blew my mind! I just watched his As the Years go passing by and couldn't tell he's blind
This has a real Dueling Banjos vibe. It's amazing to see two of the best guitar players ever, having fun and pushing each other.

Vincent Whitley right on brother! I feel the same! They brought out the best in each other musically
I couldn’t agree more but I have to think Jeff Beck challenged him a bit.
Saw the Fire and Fury tour in November of 1989. Stevie curb stomped Beck. It was ridiculous. I went as a Beck fan and left an SRV fan.
Dru Chumley I have to agree. I saw it in Dallas and Beck payed first( I think he had released Guitar Shop), and I remember thinking poor SRV is going to follow this...but Stevie melted the place. He was incredible. Different styles though so to each his own

The Jeff Healey Shuffle.
And on top of that the unique way he frets the guitar, I’ve always loved how he played

Jeff's solo gives me chills----as does Stevie's. Different styles. May they both RIP.
Fucking crazy. Jeff played with such fire, I was in shock. When he stood up, look at the awesome grin on Stevie's face. WOW!!

I think it was cool the way SRV stood down during his "Little Sister" solo. He wanted that moment to be all Healey's.
Love it ,them swapping leads. Thats a high that takes no drugs. Great ..

The fact these guys aren’t been heard on the radio anymore, says enough how mankind had lost it’s feel for music.

True
I love to watch musicians. It's astounding to me how the music manifests in their bodies. Such beautiful movement. Priceless and perfect.
Probably the only time another guitar player showed up SRV on stage. Jeff Healy is vastly underrated.

I totally agree. Jeff Healey was ON FIRE.
They BOTH were on fire! No words to describe the guitar skills of these two masters. One of the greatest live performances of all time.
BloozeDaddy make that educational viewing around the world.
Wow... this is freaking amazing! I forgot how great Jeff Healey was. And of course srv was always amazing.
Tasty bass lines with Jeff and Stevie trading licks. It simply gets no better than this.
2 angels now playing in the sky
Both Jeff and Stevie were monsters......great performance here...
This is too good.
Whenever I get glimpse of Jeff, a pinch hits my heart and feel for his early demise. Can never get bored of him. RIP
"Not bad for a blind white boy."
"Yeah. And I thought you'd be taller."

Who said that?
Now that's Bad Ass !!! You rocked Jeff, RIP Stevie
No words can do this justice. 🎸🎶
Jeff stood up and played like a boss without a strap holding his guitar on!
I didn't think it was possible to one up Stevie Ray but Jeff Healy just did it. Good Lord.
The thousands of hours spent practicing is one thing, but a God-given-talent is another.
I hope the hour in heaven can keep up.
Both of these guys were gone too soon. Amazing!!
