Some words on the vid from its producer, the late Joe Bodolai...
"This amazing performance is from my Gemini award-winning series IT'S ONLY ROCK 'N ROLL! (which also starred Mike Myers) on CBC in Canada. These late guitar virtuosos are missed, but this performance lives forever. This is one of the greatest moments of my career."
I was in the room for this performance. I did PR for the TV show. I will never forget it.
I guess not.... that's bucket list stuff
I think that was the greatest performance of Little Sister ever. they made each other rise to another level. Must have been absolutely electric in that room.
That’s a legendary sight to see right there!
You're gorgeous!
You're blessed!
I gotta clean up my act so I can get to heaven and see these two play again
There was a video of this whole concert on youtube at one time.
@@kennycab3374 i went there haha so good
No materialistic things in heaven.
AMEN!
Mando lorion, LOL
I truly will never understand why Jeff Healey wasn't a more known musician, I mean he should have been a huge star. He was so talented, but when you mention him most don't know who he was, then when you show them they're like, "Ohhh the roadhouse guy." He was so much more than just some guy from some movie!! A true legend, that could hold his own on stage with SRV, and almost steal the show, all while blind!!!!!
BB King said Jeff Healy might’ve been the most talented player he ever heard, that’s enough for me
Jeff was a creative monster talent - unique, innovative, and driven. He is missed, as is SRV, a bluesman's bluesman.
Totally agree. I have to admit that I didn't know of him until Roadhouse and became a follower of his music. He's amazing.
He is pretty well known in the blues scene
Agreed.
These guys were not human, they were supermen. Healy was definitely underated.
What we wouldn't all give to have these two back with us.
Oh that is so true!!
Jeff Healey was the only man to face on stage with Stevie and had the same level of intensity and feeling in his playing than Stevie... This man was blind and plays with guitare on his knees. So what else ? Both legends, rest in peace brothers.
100% agreed.
Unreal performance
jeff didn't see judgment .hang out play guitar
Holy shit nobody has EVER matched SRV on stage, but I’d say him and Jeff were neck and neck with those blistering solos! Two bona fide LEGENDS!
Agreed. Only live performance that rivals this is Rush Xanadu live.
Jeff got em.
You can definitely see Stevie’s face in surprise jeff was amazing
I agree. Not many people can match or top Stevie's intensity. Jeff did it though
Stevie once said that Jeff was the only one who could really challenge him.
The look on Stevie’s face when Jeff is soloing… seems genuinely blown away!
Insane solo
Who's not?
In my opinion Jeff was a better all round musician than Jimi or stevie
@@grimzal214 - Stevie was more the hyper blues traditionalist who forged a bit more sheer utter unique character, and Jeff could write different kinds of songs and pull out different tricks and almost violin-like vibrato… I think they’re each perfect though.
Jeff blew us all away! Wow!
RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 - August 27, 1990), aged 35
And
RIP Jeff Healey (March 25, 1966 - March 2, 2008), aged 41
You both will be remembered as legends.
Both my idols
I didn't realize Jeff was that young when he died! Legendary artist!
Just finding out now,Jeff passed away 😪
Texas and Canada, teaming up to conquer the Earth!
Just jaw dropping! ❤😢
If you don't like this, you don't like music!
This IS music
There's a lot of people who don't get it. Sucks to be them
SRV had respect for Jeff Healy because he knew the talent & gift he had and wanted us to see & hear it. Unfortunately for us, neither of them lived long enough to truly show us.
When Jeff got up on his feet I got goosebumps.
So did Stevie Ray!!!
Hell yes
Me too 😎👍😊
They said everyone Jeff H jumped up like that his crew freaked out!!.. worrying he would fall off the stage!!!...legends at work!!!
I did too! No straps and he played like a boss. I would've dropped that guitar. Most of us would.
when you absolutely SMOKE a guitar on a solo and someone picks up the ashes, builds another guitar and sets it on fire all over again
SRV one of the greatest of all time.
Jeff more than held his own. ❤❤❤
Fact
don't forget the Irish man Rory Gallagher what a a talent is lost too R.I.P. all of them.
Always loved Rory since Taste exceptional artist. ❤
You can see how impressed Stevie is watching Jeff play... a true blind guitar playing genius sharing happiness with Stevie...
So agree. They are in Heaven playing with all the greats
it's not easy to be on par with SRV on stage but man when Jeff stood up during that solo and Stevie so awestricken, those were wonderful moments in music history, Jeff was such and underrated guitar player and artist. RIP both of them
As an old musician I can tell you that the very best piano tuners were often blind & if you look at great musicians like SRV etc they play with their eyes closed, it's all about feel, touch & sound. Notice Jimmy Page of Led Zep stand with his back to the drums during solos, he's feeling the beat resounding in his chest & off he goes !
I noticed that... he was playing stand up and overhand with no strap... absolute legends...
Jeff Healey is one hell of a guitar player. Blind or not, a good guitar player is a good guitar player.
I tear up watching this again. Tears of joy, wonder, excitement. These two guys…WOW. Jeff was all of 21 here. 'Love Stevie's smile when Jeff jumps out of his chair! 'Just so in the moment.
Madeleine Hague It also gets me tears in my eyes everytime. They were two very soulful men. You can always hear it in the way they play
So true! We miss these guys a lot!
was so impressive wasn't it
SRV did not know that Jeff Healy was going to stand up and move around like that, but Stevie, rightly felt, that Jeff's other senses told him where he was! Two masters, who are terribly missed. 💔💔
I consider myself extremely blessed to have seen both of these legends in person.
You lucky bastard. I was 2yrs old when SRV died. I'm so jealous
You're really really lucky my friend
Me as well saw Stevie at a roller rink in Waterloo, Ontario and Jeff many times and blowing his trumpet.
I saw them both too....not so bad being old after all! I had tickets to see SRV in London September 9th 1990.....more than heartbroken about what happened. So sad that we lost Jeff too.
I am blessed to have their CDs and have seen videos.
The Gods were on stage that night!
Man I got to give this one to Jeff does anybody realize how damn hard that is to stand up hold the guitar and play like that that's f****** incredible
And he did it regularly....
Especially in a completely dark room
I still don't know how it's possible. He doesn't have a strap!
Plus the fact that he did that while being blind
I've known SRV since he was 12. I assure you that Stevie would agree with you. I'd give it to Jeff too. I never saw anyone impress Stevie so favorably as Jeff did here & as you know, he's played with all the greatest of his day. Stevie looked at Jeff like all those other greats looked at Stevie. I loved seeing Stevie being a fan too.
My late Mom had a little dog, who was very protective of her. He ruled her household and always snarled and snapped at me. In order to alleviate the situation, rather than hate the little thing my Mom cared for so much, this song really helped me!! When I visited Mom and the little doggie did his thing, I'd sing: ' Hey Hey hey, hey hey.....little, little Mister!! Hahahaaa, problem solved! Thanks Stevie! Say hi to Mom and her little doggie up there in heaven for me!
This is a genuine Hall if Fame moment! My dad was a HUGE fsn of both those guys. Even as a kid, Jeff Healey completely blew my mind. For him to learn yo play is impressive enough.....but to do it so much better than others without his "limitations". A true guitar hero.
1000 years from now people will still be looking at this performance and commenting on how epic it was.
It's up to us to share it
While simultaneously studying how so many people could enjoy the horrific sounds of popular rap. It will be a college course.
Bet these two are jamming right now RIP Stevie Ray Vaughn and RIP Jeff Healey 🎸🎸🎶🎵🎸🎸
You KNOW It!!!🎸🎸
Oh yeah. Hopefully with a little Jimmi Hendrix and some Jim Morrison thrown in too.
I picture them jamming with all the greats... Hendrix, Muddy, Howling Wolf, Lightnin' Hopkins, T-Bone Walker, all three Kings --B.B., Albert, and Freddie.
@@judyisbell Don't forget Jeff Beck and Robbie Robertson! ❤
More guitar talent on that stage than there is among the living today. My goodness what we've lost. Rest In Peace Gentlemen
Just Plain Magnificent, Don't You All Agree ??? !!!
Jeff healey was the best, no one talks about it. But its true!
Jeff is one of Ritchie Blackmore' s favorite guitarists. I agree 100%.
yip...and he loved Texas swing blues....that's what he listened to
We should all try to live a life as free and in the moment as Jeff was blowing that solo off the planet! He was completely caught up in some of the greatest music made while he was making it! So cool to see
Yes, it was wonderful, but I was so worried about how Jeff was going to find his chair.... such excellent spatial awareness. Love them both, what a loss.
Can you begin to fathom the difficulty in standing, rocking that lead with that playing style? He's pinching it to his body with his picking hand and supporting with his thumb on his fret hand. Unfreakin real
This has to be one of the greatest blues performances ever, and one of the coolest moments in music!
Find someone who looks at you like Stevie looks at Jeff during that solo
For real...
This is a “planets aligned” performance! If you aren’t moved and aren’t moving by this, you are dead and soulless!
This IS a performance to take in! These two are and were conduits of music. Regardless of what style or kind of music matters not, these two could play anything and it would be pure and sound great! I cried seeing this! Inspired and just totally captivating! These two together, speechless and awesome beyond! Brilliance! 🙏❤️👍
i miss both of the phenomenal performers. There has been no one like them since their passing.
When a blind man can play better than a man that can see, even standing without a guitar strap, some azzwhoopin is gonna happen on stage.
And SRV was also one of the greatest of our lifetime. Heaven shines with the likes of BOTH these guitar Gods. RIP JH SRV, we miss you both.
I come back to this video often just because its such a righteous jam and they're souls are speaking through the guitars, just flat out incredible.
I so agree …I watch this video 10-20 times a year! The magic never lessons with time! A an aside I got to see SRV in Vancouver - opening for the Moody Blues in 1983. SRV was definitely the highlight of that concert! RIP SRV and Jeff Healey
I met Ray during our stay in “cocktail college”. He taught me how to play the harmonica & I showed him how to shoot a basketball. We had some laughs and helped each other get through one day at a time. A sensitive caring man. I miss him !
I lack words to express how great Jeff Healey was. His extraordinary talent and skill were forces of nature and should be an inspiration to any musician.
This live one take and it’s perfect Holy Moly
The double deuce finally got its show
nice memory of the bar name .
As a guitar player myself, this is just humbling.
This was one of the rare moments that Stevie had performance anxiety in the presence of Sir Jeff.
And that would be a aw hell no, my friend.
I think srv had a habit of not upstaging anyone he played with you can see it when he played with Albert king and others
@@johnsimons9831 oh interesting. I'll have a watch
SRV loved the music and who he played with. Watch his "wow" face when Jeff layed down that riff and SRV didn't try to upstage him, he just kept it moving in the right direction. Studs of Music both of them.
Shout out to those that heard Jeff's show on the CBC One!
I seriously can’t believe these two aren’t with us anymore. WHY oh why. Imagine if SRV and Healey were still alive doing this shit today.
Two of the greatest guitar players who ever lived.
Yeah you got that right 2 of the best ever.
Watching Jeff rip it up like that makes me want to throw all my guitars away. Jesus, what a talent. RIP to them both
Yeah. I’m not a guitar player next to that. I just own a few guitars 🤦♂️
Holy. Crap. Can you imagine being in that audience for that live. Good gracious. Bravo gentlemen!! Thank you and RIP!!
Texas, USA 🇺🇸 and Toronto, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦! Two of the Greatest Of All Time! G.O.A.T.'s 🐐 🐐 ...to see 👀 this video immortalized here on UA-cam is....????(no words)....🎁🏆🏅🎉🎆🎇🎭🎯🪀🧨✨️🎊🎫🎟🎗🙊
Whenever you're feeling self pity, think you don't have it, are tired and uninspired - watch Jeff Healy and imagine what you could be capable of if you really went all in... Imagine a world of people who decide to live with the verve and determination that Jeff Healy did - how magnificent would that be.... ? Let's get started people !!!
THIS.
Amazing performance wished I could have been there🤘🙏 Rip
2 of the best damn guitar players to have ever lived! RIP!! ❤
Jeff Healy ins't this world.
Steve no comments.
These guys came from nowhere to bring us happiness.
That neither of these legends played by eyesight is a phenom in and of itself.
Two of the greatest guitar players I've ever heard !!!!!
I had no idea that Jeff could play like THAT! To see those two play together made a crappy day into a good day. Thanks for posting this!
I had the luck to see Jeff play 3 times, once was in my little home town of Lachine. He played the Canada Day celebration as the main act, during one of the windiest days. No rain, or heavy clouds, just insane wind coming off the water. Still Jeff blazed thru it. He absolutely smashed "See the Light" for a finale, and I think those that didn't know him, now wanted to know more. This is one of those performances. If you didn't know Jeff Healey, after this, you'll be looking him up, and that makes me really happy.
This type of talent we will never see again sadly.....
IMHO...the two most legendary guitarists/artists ever. The way SRV smiles when Jeff gets up and rocks out? Gets me every single time. We miss you both desperately.
That smile on SRV's face when Jeff stands up and shows us how it's done is just magical. No other words can describe it.
Magical.
i think SRV purposely played with more bends, slower pace in his solo to let jeff healey's shine even more. SRV was a gentleman and legend. What an awesome performance.
Was heading into my senior year at college when I heard SRV had died. Three Texans, including myself and my brother, played soccer for our school’s team in Virginia. Needless to say we were all devastated. The Texans held a little “time for reflection” moment before practice. Day sucked.
Two of my heroes together
That smile Stevie had when Jeff jumped up is priceless. RIP Stevie and Jeff. I hope if I make it to heaven, when I get to them pearly gates, i hear some Stevie and Jeff jamming out.
I got to hang out with Jeff Healey at a little dive bar in North Little Rock. Ar. He took over the stage from a cover band. Best " concert" I had heard in a while. Really cool dude.
Stevie is the man but watching Jeff play is always a treat.
I will never understand how Jeff Healy’s not in blues goat talks
This is the best guitar playing ever, anyone out there agree? Give me some love folks!
THEY WENT TO SOON JUST IMAGINE IF THEY WAS STILL HERE WOW!!!!!!!!! BAD ASS!!!!!!!!!
2 leggende
Jeff looked like someone's conservatively dressed, possibly dorky, younger brother sitting in with a big dog. Then Stevie says"tell it Jeff!" At which point Jeff "tells it" in no uncertain terms, Stevie is "telling it" too. We realize that these two excellent musicians were "brothers" in some mysterious and heartfelt manner. Now sitting on a cloud, trading riffs, giving Heavenly concerts! We miss you both, gone way too soon. Thanks for the marvelous music!
That was an awesome performance
@@GailMcGuire-wi5kk Yes, indeed! It makes me anxious when Jeff starts dancing around. How did he find the chair? Also, he seemed to know where Stevie was, so they could jam face to face. So amazing!
No one is.giving the bass player any respect he jamming to people .
👍👍🔥🔥🎸🎸
RIP MY BROTHERS!
GOD HAS ALL OF THE BEST GUITARIST
Personally I'm so glad that Jeff learned his guitar licks and style from Texas blues/rock players....he did it well.
I happened to see SRV in Vancouver in 1983, opening for the Moody Blues. SRV stole the show! Absolute love and respect for both SRV and Jeff Healey … man, it’s hard to believe the future collaborations and just the amazing music that we could have seen from both! Truly missed and beloved!!
When Two Phenom Musicians get together Magic happens and what a respect for each other, this is what Life's all about
I love the fact that Stevie let's Jeff solo first. Class act SRV!!
🧊 🥶 😎
Sad that both are gone. What playing, wow!
Both are irreplaceable, but I'm sure glad we had them while we did.
I can't believe it took me this long to realize how fucking amazing Jeff was.
I bet the Hosts of Heaven are just totally blown away by two of the greatest blues musicians
Jeff's solo blew SRV's solo out of the water! Rest In Paradise guys, thank you for the music.
THE WHOLE BAND IS CRAZY DAME GREAT!!!!!.
Anytime I think about being afraid of dying, I remind myself that when I go to heaven I'll get to watch these guys play guitar again and I smile.
I just might become a Christian if they said these guys are playing every night up there.
Yep. In Toronto you could see Jeff Healey play somewhere virtually every week. What a time it was. Two Guitar Gods... both gone far too soon! ❤️🎸❤️
God bless Jeff Healy and Stevie. AMEN ! pray with me brothers.
Jeff & Stevie sharing a heart. Those two feeling the music.
Inspiring performance by these two greats!
SRV gave Jeff so much honest respect in this….such joy and pure passion for the song…. Both absolute legends.
Two of the best on one stage. it doesn't get better than this.
OH. MY. GOOD. LORD. ALMIGHTY!!! THIS IS FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!! The two best southern rock rippers of all time jamming together. Thank you God, I can die now.
Speechless. Two masters of their craft.
Simply awesome
Yes yes it was
Not many can keep up with SRV, but Jeff did!
2 legends. RIP. Heaven is rockin' tonight.
Man these two playing Little Sister, blows me away every time I watch this video, Jeff Healey and Stevie Ray killed it. Shame they both left us to early. Can you imagine the band their playing in now, hope I've had a good enough life to see them all live again. Rock on boys,Heavens gates are shaking at the foundation..
Two of the greatest!! Both gone way too soon. Gone but never forgotten!! RIP
I got to see SRV and Jeff Healy in 1989 at Alpine Valley East Troy Wisconsin the year before he died there. Now there both playing for the Lord RIP.
You said it. This is 2 of the most talented musicians collaborating. I love Jeff Healey too. And look theyre both in Heaven
Two superlative musicians sharing the joy of music …….
No egos …….
Sublime
Two Guitarists that will be missed
Two absolutely amazing blues guitarist
Stevie’s approach will never be duplicated
Jeff’s usage of all fingers and thumb, like watching the left hand of a piano player, was truly the most unique style of playing ever seen and what a stretch he had
Most have to push the string up, Jeff just pulled it and what a sound
I still get blown away by his style
I won’t say who is better out of these two
They both are amazing and irreplaceable
This collaboration is a gift and priceless to watch
I didn't get to see Stevie but I saw Jeff at the Bluebird in Bloomington, IN back in the day, so awesome...also saw the Fabulous Thunderbirds there...xoxo
Jeff Healy is Awesome 👌 👏
JUST LOVE THESES BLUES MEN. ..GOD BLESS 🙏🙏🇺🇸💎🎶🌝..R.I.P.💔💛💜
One of the best SRV performances ever, and Jeff just almost took the glory away! Maybe he did? 🎵🎶
This was so electric they both compliment each other so good rip both you beautiful souls loved and missed ❤
Never had the privilege of seeing SRV which leaves me feeling like I will always have this empty space inside. On a positive note I did however get to see Jeff, words can't describe his energy and masterful playing. When he stood to play, that was it for me, everyone went insanely nuts He was Canada's best. Will never get to see what was to come. A huge hole in music !! 😪💔🎸
I saw them both - Jeff twice: once opening for Bonnie Raitt in 1990 at Riverside Park (now Six Flags) in Agawam MA and once at a club called Mikara's in Springfield MA. Saw Stevie 4 times; the last time was with Jeff Beck on the Fire & the Fury tour in 1989 at Worcester MA. This video only hints at what they were both able to do, but it's still a killer performance.
Another great player from Canada---🇨🇦 Frank Moreno.
The smile on SRV's face the moment Jeff jumps out of his chair just says it all!!!
