Hendrix and Stevie is my two favorite guitarists, who else loves these two?
are* plural when you're referring to more than one person
The two best ever
I love Rory gallagher too
Stevie yes al di miela yes mc glauflin totally but dont forget what really went down
Who doesn't?
Holy fuck, that was totally badass. Breaks a string, switches guitars, and says, "Fuck it! That ain't gonna stop me from playing behind my back!" Dayum! You go Stevie!
Fuck it
On and on lol
SRV had the best "blues guitar face" of anybody. Damn I miss that guy. I damn near cry every time I hear him.
And so do I my friend.
Another wet face here.
As Carlos Santana put it, 'If they can't see the note you're playin' in your face, you're not playin' it!'
That, my friend, is what you call the stank face. As someone here has already eluded to, if the notes can’t be seen in your face, are you really even playing?
Same
Holy fucking shit!!!!! Stevie can play better behind his back than i will ever play just normally
See my comment about the dislikes. Basically that is the conclusion of many a guitarist. Those few who could not handle this fact hate him for it and clicked the dislike icon.
chapshow1 nah mate of the 800,000 views those 74 peoples dislikes were just accidental. It's astonishing how amazing he is.
The type of people that have to try so hard to dislike something like this, just have to be stepped over.
He shouldn't be dead. I miss this dude.
Neither should Zappa or Jimi.
Stevie , Zappa Hendrix and their music live on. their spirits live on. RIP Stevie .
eastlake93 Or Prince
Haole In Paradise Right, and Bowie. I still can't bring myself to listen their music. Hurts too much. Prince's loss was so preventable.
+eastlake93 prince was hooked on dope like so many others before...sad but true
worlds strongest fingers award goes to: srv
+Gavin Freeman 13
+Gavin Freeman sometimes even higher like 18s
lol what
+emmanuel rosillo I don't think so !!
+The One ypur right im bugging 18s is like bass strings
When an instrument becomes an extension of your soul.
When he flipped the Guitar . I lost my hair and I'm bald for ever
Man Stevies vocals were on point that night. One of the best vocals I've heard from him on this song.
I know I'm a few years late to reply to your post it to answer you they were on point and precise. He was the best o my lord. Y
Had to be the then-current high point of his meteoric rise to Legend: Playing a fellow Texan's Presidential Inaugural Ball with the Iceman introducing you & your brother playing back-up to witness your greatness!
I disagree, I thought he overdid them here (tried too hard?), didn't sound as good compared to the el mocambo version, those vocals were really good
@@the90schild1 I disagree
@@the90schild1 it’s not only that I disagree with you, it’s that you are incorrect.
Just for those who don't know....that's his AA earring he's wearing & that's his Nicorette gum he's chewing. :)
Yup. Really got his shit together.Rid his life of drugs, alcohol, even cigarettes, had a good woman on his side, then a few months later.... 😔😔😔
From the very first note you could hear how clean he is/was. A Stevie not held back by anything and anyone, drugs alchohol women. His most powerful performance recorded imo. And the last time he played lenny was smooth and on a whole new level.
@@poundinthastreets helicopters suck.
and that's his cross he's wearing.
💗 💖 💘 💝 💟
my eyes still water up to know this guy is gone and all he left behind
Ghost bc gu I 7u
H
No one ever attacked a guitar like Stevie. Best guitarist of all time.
For all those who obviously wonder why this has 74 dislikes. Most of those are frustrated musicians who have tried to sing and play like SRV and just gave up.
Lol
Please, there are just a few, most will never come close to this true master of blues..SB loves u Stevie
i think even decent guitar players want to give up knowing they will never reach that level.
ME lmao
Haahah faxxxx
Usually don't listen to this type of music but Jesus... who couldn't enjoy this masterpiece?
As far as blues electric-guitarists, NOBODY CAN DO A SOLO LIKE STEVIE!!!
This night was one of Stevie deepest dives playing TEXAS FLOOD.
breaking 13s like it aint no shit
He used 16's and broke the head off strats. steeped down to 13's
Erick Fuller Went down to .11 gauge later too
Nah he did NOT use 16s. 13's were already too much for his hands. Read an interview with Rene (his guitar tech) He went down to 11s and when he played 13s he had very high action so he could make the strings ring as much as possible.
Deathshuck .11 gauge still has really good sustain too
Josh Robinson would you say this gage has the best sustain ??
4:30 beating on that thing like a rented mule. Never have I seen anyone with as much emotion when they play as SRV. Smh....what an amazing musician......singer and player alike.
Greatest guitar player to walk the earth.
Love how even though he breaks the string behind his back he still finishes the song behind his back with the backup guitar. True musician. Wish this guy was still around.
Well, it was a back up guitar so he played it behind his back...
Obviously
@@nikos-giorgos loooll
Yeah.. I thought I had heard his first "slip".
Man, when he puts the back up guitar behind his back after changing it, I could do nothing else than laughing uncontrollably of how badass Stevie was. A virtuso, a stellar performer, a great human being. We all still miss you very much Stevie!
He's in love with every note he's playing. You don't see that often any more.
Good God Almighty! This man smolders and owns my midnight hours. I still feel you, Stevie, every long, slow, sultry night.
Do you sing blues by any chance?
Hell to the yeah baby
@@sallymullins1328 going to get out there too boys , I love SRV and he is my inspiration for sure. I hope I can bring 10% of what this man does
Absolutely blissful.
Legend for eternity.
Cheers from Texas.
And thanks from music lovers, everywhere...
I remember where I was when his plane went down. My pops burst out in tears, and I had never seen him even cry before. SRV. Damn your soul is missed man. Thank you for the memories and music you left us, such a picture you paint...
It was a helicopter crash.
Well, it's been 24 years since we lost SRV. He is missed every day!
Because back then, playing the guitar in front of you was overrated and too easy. LOL. Stevie was such a BEAST! He lit it up like no one else could, and he did so with style and class. He was a true master of technical precision and musical expression, and he is the epitome of what can happen when both elements are perfectly aligned. He died a legend and his name will never be forgotten.
@Garrett Hinson. Loved the way he played the GUITAR OVER HIS BACK. SAW HENDRIX YEARS AGO BUT HE DIDN'T DO HIS GUITAR OVER HIS BACK.
I love the way you put that! I couldn't agree more!
One of the most incredible performances I've seen by ANYONE EVER!! Bar None!!
I agree. He was really amped on this one. Everything had extra feeling..even when he looked up to the sky.
Damn I have to be honest I've always known Stevie as one of the best guitarist but I did not know he had a VOICE like that- I'm very impressed
still to this day the sickest individual to ever strap up. just sit and listen, and know there will never be another that can do what he could.
I agree eric Clapton had nothing on stevie from another texas boy grew up in plano texas 30 miles from stevie
Bobby Beal i dunno if i would go that far , Clapton is a serious player, Stevie OTOH was just from another planet i think
eric good but stevie best
ZAPPA was better than both.
Stevie and Frank were very different in their approach to guitar... Frank was a very good Blues guitar player, but he experimented A LOT outside the Blues! Examples: - Down in the Dew, - Filthy Habits, etc... And yes he was a guitar genius! But on another hand, even though Stevie only played Blues, well I've never seen or heard someone play the Blues with more passion, intensity, emotion and virtuosity! So, instead of saying that one was better than the other, I would just say that they are both different...
My face just melted and now it's on the floor.
there is no such person as the greatest player of all time, but my favourite is SRV
Stephen Ray Vaughn had been the Greatest Blue's Guitarist in the Modern Day Scenes, with Rifs never been played so beautifully, honestly & truly personalized for his amazing qualities! ☆☆☆☆☆💖✌👏👍
Good god this man was the greatest period!..No one can match what he puts into a song..NOONE!...His brother is in reverse compared to SRV..SRV is just kicking everyone's ass..They should all put down their guitars and watch a master at work..
He had to switch guitars because he melted the strings on that other one
The string got scared and snapped on purpose
A pretty regular occurrence for him-and he played with heavy strings.
Strings the size of guide wires to boot.
Get this guy . . . changes his axe without a phone booth then off again to battle behind the back again
My MAN Stevie
This guy was from an other planet. Perfect technique and amazing feeling, he is the bluesman
Lol
Another planet??
Nah, just Texas. ;-)
@@PixieWillows Like he said, another planet.
What planet did he come from I won’t to go there
Texas is like another planet lol.
he lives in all those Who appreciates his works
I love how when his string breaks....and his tech hands him another guitar....he straps it back behind his back and absolutely destroys it to pieces. Its almost as if he's saying to his guitar, " How dare you, take this you son of a B!$@# " and sends his strat to another dimension. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING to say the least.
Imagine if SRV was still alive. He would still be the King of Texas Blues.
F'n awesome
This is how a legendary talent handles a broken string on stage: Not even a hiccup in the flow of phenomenal blues. So well done.
Best Guitar Player, Ever! Bar None! They put His statue up, in Austin Texas, on my Birthday, Nov. 21, in the year 1994! Thanks for that excellent video! Peace! Brother Nick
It's not hard to believe that so many he looked up to, idolized him. I heard Erick Clapton say the first time he heard SRV, he was driving and had to pull off to the side of the road.
erick xD
Claptons ego is too big lol. Jimi and SRV both mopped the floor with Clapton
+Chris Aviles Clapton is the only person who's been elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times, so one can understand why his ego is big.
wrong Clapton was great too.
I have seen most of the great guitar players live. Saw Clapton live in MSG 2015. He is the only guitar player that I have seen that made the hair stand up on my arms his playing goes through you. He was 70yrs old at this time. He also does not have big ego just calm and reserved. He has open the door for many young guitar players. Very given man. Was good friends with SRV.
Goddamn Best ever, I put the pedal Down and get a speed ticket, just cant help it
Is it just me or are Stevie’s vocals much better once he was sober. His vocals were always superb but in this video they are just incredible! Very very solid!
Yes Stevie's vocals were 500 percent.
Yeah he really meant the lyrics when he was sober. Truly a Honest Delivery. He was Transcendent.I guess he probably still is.
Stevie aint no Joke
First saw him in 1983 open for Moody Blues. Everyone in the audience was just blown away by this force of nature!
I think i developed a serious addiction to this man
"And that's blues from Texas!!!" He was unbelievable, really
never seen so much soul in a performance before
No one could play the Blues like Stevie Ray Vaughn!!!!
Simply the GOAT. Period.
I love seeing stevie's transformation from 1983-90. He was already the greatest guitarist imo but when he sobered up, his vocals and playing got even better. The passion and emotion he put into his playing has never been duplicated.
Passion; the perfect word for his love affair with music.
As Stevie said himself , " it's got to come from the heart " man , if you ever want to see and hear what music pouring out from the heart & soul is like , look no further !! 🤘🎸🎶🎶 You're still rockin us SRV !!!!!
I can't get enough of Stevie Ray! He had cleaned up his problems and he died to soon. I pray he is in heaven playing with the heavenly band! I love you Stevie Ray!
i love the way he attacks the guitar.
Just listening to him play can bring tears.....Damn he was good ! Should have gone to see him when I had the chances years ago.....
Saw Steve Ray an Eric Clapton the day before they went down in concert, I've seen a lot of bands over the course of 50yrs, nottin like I saw that nite, I am blessed to have seen a guitar God in action!!! My favorite album of Steve Ray Vaughn is -- in step, which he won a Grammy award, srv lives forever!!!
just brutal power and passion. freak of nature.
Ha, ya all. Stevie was the best there was. A true blues man. My you R. I. P. Brother in Rock-n-Roll. Heaven.......
Brilliant, out of this world. This is how blues should be played. Dam! I miss SRV.
Damn*
What a gift from the guitar godsStevie Ray...God Rest your soul.Great guitarist, better man.Heart of pure gold.
Still cant get over the fact that this is fucking LIVE!? Like holy fucking cat shit! Who in todays world can play like this these days?
If Stevie Ray Vaughan were alive today he would be the richest man alive ! He'd sell out any venue he'd play at. He would be the most sought after musician alive !
4:10 I always get goodbumps when SRV starts again and shows everyone in the crowd why he's the best ever
hell yes
I find it insane this man used between 10 gauge to 13 gauge strings and ripped through them.
@@allainangcao28 not to mention the sick bends behind his back
Goat
never seen someone play as godly as stevie. he gave that guitar a personality.
Almost 25 years since Stevie left us, and still nobody can even come close to his talent. Such a bad ass.. long live SRV.
SRV is G.O.A.T. But check out gary clark jr.
The Man. The Guitar. The Song. Tops in the world. Flood of reviews
PURE HEART & SOUL
What a terrible loss - could have had so many more years of AWESOMENESS!!
One of those musicians whose passing makes you remember exactly what you were doing when you heard the news. Last time I saw him was I believe his last New York appearance. It was benefit concert, he sat down on edge of stage solo and played "Little Wing." He was gone a couple of weeks later. Damn.
The MASTER!!
The way Stevie holds the note once he knows the string broke just long enough for Jimmie to come to the rescue!!! AWESOME!! Then Stevie goes straight back in for the kill when he gets the replacement AXE by playing behind his back again but this time harder and faster with more passion!!!!!!! unbelievable performance one of my favourites that i always come back too.
Congratulations Stevie on your induction into the R&R Hall of Fame...FINALLY! It's been a long time coming & very well deserved.
I have spent last 6 months watching videos with SRV. But this .. I've never ever EVER seen SRV or any other guitarist pull out such an incredible show. Soooo huge, I think this video is gonna by starting point for every day. Just amazing.. amazing
I agree. He's always amazing but he was particularly on for this show.
Has there ever been another guitar player who plays with such ferocious power!??
I never got to see him in person but I am a fan for life. He was the greatest blues guitarist EVER!, bar none.
I get chills running trough me evertime i watch him. He plays with such emotion. Pure heart and soul!
I love how he snaps a string while playing behind his back, changes guitar and then puts the new guitar behind his back to finish where he left off! Legend.
Stevie's playing and vocals burning with typical intensity and soul
Brings tears to my eyes. Travel'd back to Austin to spread my brothers ashes in Lake Travis behind the SRV memorial statue.
If i could i would rather be born in this time then i am now. Im only 17, but he is my biggest inspiration! I would rather see him live then have cell phones and video games and all the stuff we have here
What happened? I passed out from all the awesomeness.
Jason Desjardins One of the strings broke :) That's the only interesting thing that happened, cause the rest is just pure ear-sex, as per usual :)
Kyle Mulligan
Me? I'm not a wannabe musician. I'm an amateur musician on a hobby basis. Not a good one, but nevertheless a musician. What's your point? xD
+DonQuixotec I didn't understand this exchange. Was Don being a jerk or did Kyle misunderstand? I would hope that calling this ear-sex isn't meant as a slight. You don't have to like it to appreciate it.
rom661
Honestly, I don't know why Kyle said that either. My comment about the video was entirely positive. I wasnt trying to be a jerk.
Kyle Mulligan
If you didn't bother to reply to my comment, the misunderstanding wouldn't have been figured out, and maybe you would have been angry without a reason. I think you should continue replying, if you like to. Cause you're awesome ;)
one of the most talented artists to leave us too soon. but he left a legacy behind that cannot be matched
you can feel every string in your bones
I can barely play guitar in front of me! Damn Stevie Ray. Sail on brother. Wherever you are, know that we love your music.
I have watched this countless times. PURE GOOSEBUMPS, a spine chilling rendition of one of Stevie's best songs ever. love to everyone who carries the blues through this lost generation.
The only artist that gives me chills every time I hear him play also and I always discover something new when I listen to his songs
miss this man. So cool, him and Hendrix
The best live performance of SRV
Even when he sings he put all his emotions in it RIP SRV
he is no doubt the greatest guitar player ever.
Best blues guitarist ever.
wow very good performance amazing artist
You don't just play the music you are the music. A message for today's artist.
He played this also with his whole heart and soul.
Texas Flood , nothing better I don't care where or what you see. That's Stevie's . Go ahead brother. Great Love.
I miss him, even though I haven't met him or anything, but watching his performances, listening to his music makes me feel like we are close or something. He should've been alive until now. :(
Brings tears to my eyes watching an incredible performance !
i am just amazed how can a man like SRV still, after 20 + years, be the best (in my opinion)blues guitar player ever. I know Eric Clapton , Bb King,m Freddie king and so many others. None have what he has....i cant name it...but he is the F%%%%%n special one....for me at least!
Exceptionally outstanding I think his best version of Texas Flood
Definitely one of the very best guitarist of all time. Such a loss to music 😪
