  • I have received many positive comments about my videos on the Humminbird Helix button/key features. Here’s another one to add to that playlist. This one will show you how to use the Mark key to mark waypoints and show you how to use the Mark key to take a screenshot on your Humminbird Helix. With all my videos, I try to blend the basics with some advanced tips so there is something for everyone. Please enjoy the video on the Humminbird Helix Mark Key. New users sometimes have difficulty saving waypoints. This Humminbird Helix instructional video should help simplify the learning curve.

    Good to see you back at it! You have me using the “select” default a lot more from your previous videos. I started noticing I had a lot of dots and was gonna go back and edit but never do. Lol
    Like you, I set default to walleye if I’m trolling looking for fish or brush, grass etc if scouting. Good tip and sure make waypoints look better.

    Hi Steve, I'm learning so much more than the booklet can show. My question now is to save a snapshot, can you have booth the Zero Line and the Micro disc in at the same time in the two slots provided. Thanks in Advance. Dg

      Thanks Doug, yes you can have both the Zerolines card and a micro sd card. Screenshots can be saved on either one. From what I can tell it will usually save to the micro sd card by default. If it’s not on one then check the other.

    I know this doesn't apply to this particular video, and I watch and learn a lot from your videos on the helix units. So here is my question, if I set my helix units (helix GN3 7 DI and helix 9 GN3 SI) on simulation to play with various settings, will those settings stay when I actually use them on the water in real time use, or do I need to make those settings in real time use? Hope my question makes sense.

      Another question. I have a Helix 7 Chirp Mega DI GPS G3N. Hummingbirds web site says there is a new (v 2.800) software update as of January 2023. In there instructions they say you need to have v 2.280 downloaded prior to v 2.800. It also says you need base map v2.010. My unit has v 2.660 and base map v2.010 now. Since my software version appears to be a higher number and I already have the 2.010 base map, do I really need to down load v2.280?
      Also I did download v2 280 on a SD card and tried to down load it on my unit and all I get is a banner at top that says "updated file is invalid". I did install defaults before I tried to down load.
      I am sure I am going to have the same issue with my Helix 9 since it has v 2.660 and base map v 1.031.

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  Рік тому

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  Рік тому

      Thanks for the kind words Todd. To start navigation to a saved waypoint you will need to use your cursor control key. You must be within a 1/4 of a mile for this to work. Move the cursor to a saved waypoint or desired position and press the go to button twice. The trolling motor should start navigating. If the boat isn’t working, confirm the prop is working. When you hit the power key and your boat is networked with the IPilot Link trolling, the IPilot menu will also appear. Make sure the prop is designated in the on position.

    Hey Steve been watching your videos on waypoints..my question is I want to store my lake waypoints separately so when I get to my lake and my lakemaster card recognizes which lake I'm on and I'm seeing my waypoints if I put another blank sd card in an do do what u said I can export the waypoints from that lake onto the card that's in slot? • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  Рік тому

      Hi Pete, the waypoints are stored in your control head unit and are not specific to the lake. When I finish at a lake I export waypoints to the sd card then delete from unit. Each time I go to a new lake/area I upload waypoints from what is stored on the lake chip for that lake/area, after saving new waypoints, at the end of my trip, I export back to my sd card then delete from unit. This way I get a fresh start for each new Lake/area.

    For some reason I can't figure this out. Every time I create a new waypoint when I'm out on a new trip it wants to save the first waypoint as wp100000. Is there a way to make the waypoints increment every time out. I end up with a bunch of wp100000 waypoints in the list. Now obviously, the next waypoint that I create on that day while I'm out on the water does increment. But the next trip out it always starts back at the beginning. Any thoughts?

      Hi Steve thanks for getting back to me. I actually ended up calling humminbird tech support. They had never heard of that problem really either. What was odd was that it was happening on both my Helix 10 and my Helix 9. They said it's possible that since they were networked that one unit corrupted the other unit so they were both doing the same thing. They had me send both of them back yesterday. I will have to wait now and see what they come up with. Fortunately they are both under warranty. I know the ten has always done this since day one because I remember doing the first waypoint and wondering why it started so high and why it was duplicating the next day.

      Hi Steve, I got the units back and this is what they said about it. Still not sure why it was like that in the first place. It was like that on the very first way point that I made:
      Thank you for contacting Humminbird. We appreciate your support of our products. It is hard to say what caused the waypoint numbering to be in the 100,000 but the service tech changed the setting under waypoint, routes, tracks options to Set as Default and that changed the numbering back to the way it should be. Being that the units were networked together and they share Nav data would be the reason the other unit was the same.
