Jeff Beck is by far the best choise here!
Love these compilations! The great tragedy of Guthrie Govan’s playing is that we’ve not heard even 1% of it.
I wonder if Guthrie ever gets up in a morning and thinks “oh I really can’t do this today” I don’t think I’ve ever seen him looking as if he would rather be somewhere else doing, something else. Totally amazing. Definitely the best as far as I’m concerned.
He He He! yeh, he just lives to play and boy can he play.
The best guitarist on the planet
Absofuckinglutely
GODthrie
I tell everyone this all the time. The aristocrats were just up in Ohio a few months ago I guess it was and I could just kick myself for a week for not knowing, one day I will get to see him.
mostly just technique,,,he aint no jeff kollman,,,give edwin dare a listen,,or cosmosquad,,,guthrie is a ripper,,,but kollman has all the heart & soul,,and feelings of the best
Facts! 💯🔥🎸
Guthrie is all the more likeable because of how he doesn’t court stardom. Just a through and through lover of guitar.
Man is up there with the best, deserves way more recognition.
Rick Beato is right when he says that the greatest guitar virtuosos that have ever played are alive now, and all the most complex stuff that has ever been played is being played now, and Govan is up there with the top five in the world. This dude can just put his left hand in any position he wants in a snap. I guess that's what you get when you start playing the guitar at three years of age. There is bound to be some dude out there, who drives a bus for a living, but makes Govan look like a dufus on the guitar, but he's happy to just keep driving his bus and playing at home.
IMO Govan is large part of virtuoso playing right now. I use to buy Guitar Techniques magazine every month in the early 90's, it came with a lesson and CD that had his playing and the backing track to jam over as well. In the late 90's when the internet starting blowing up, after I had learned so much from him over the years, I knew that the amount of talent was going to explode exponentially.. In a click of a button you could see all of his playing and gain access to all of the written music/tabs. I was definitely right in my assumption. I remember about ten/twelve years ago, that all of the sudden the amount of players and the amount of talent just exploded, almost overnight it seemed. Many of them influenced by Guthrie.
Personally I don’t think Lane and Holdsworth will be touched for quite a while but Guthrie is as close as it gets
👉🏼👉🏼😎😎I now have to decide who to 'shift down a spot' in my 'top 5 guitarists list', as Guthrie's #1.....and justifiably so....to call this 'MONSTROUS TALENT' great, is SUCH an understatement.....any genre, incredible technical facility, feel, emotion, tone, and so humble......truly gifted, and truly deserving of these accolades and praise....BREATHTAKING!!!😎😎👈🏼👈🏼
Three most talented guys in one awesome setting
see him with Borlai and Davydants
Unbelievable. Just wonderful to watch.
Wonderful!
I don’t think Guthrie makes mistakes ever.
but if there would be a little mistake somewhere, we could have called it a "jazzy" moment 😁
He flubbed a few things in that last Jeff Beck tune.
I guess you never made it to the Beck tune at the end.
Music makes no mistakes. The audience is the problem. :P
It could be a mistake at 0:23, the dead note. But I think it was intentional. Just didn't sound quite right to me. He used the same technique a few seconds before, but it was cleaner.
His Tone/FX at 5:33 really grew on me. At first was like, WTF Guthrie?
Guthrie can play on a rubber band and make it incredible.
Your channel is very specific, you convey the same vibe as mine, I love anime in general, at the same time I am a jazz fusion guitarist... this is very peculiar (I think), congratulations, I ask you to continue with you channel
SO GOOD YES
I cant even play this good in my dreams.
a pure technical player with no soul at all... you can better
@@yesgod1468 Do you really feel that way?
Well certainly we have our own at Indian that's why we're human beings, yet me and myself I don't hear it or see it that way I feel lots of soul and passion along with the shredding
Opinion not Indian sorry I'm voice texting in the loud wind
@@yesgod1468 you'd have to be deaf to think Guthrie is soulless.
"It's like that Mark Knopler thing, you know."
Yeah, except it's a billion times faster while every note is crystal clear. Mark can't do what you do, GG. No one can.
The man can play anything
3:43 that phrase send me to the moon
I went like 😮💨
So proud to be born in the same City. He's ridiculous. So good live.
so proud to be born in the same earth
Most complete guitarist ever. A legend
love the channel, there was anothe channel similar one called underrated guitarist or something like that but i can't find it anymore :(
Guthrie Govan and Matteo Mancuso.. it would be nice see them together on stage
The boss
Maybe I'll be able to play 1/15th as good as this guy one day 🤷♀
Where can I get tickets to see Guthrie Govan at a gazebo?
Marco's tom tone my god...
Do we have a name or url for the video at 4:27? Looks like good practice material
Hey, the clip comes from this video: ua-cam.com/video/qKB3jXSbUn8/v-deo.html&ab_channel=ZiuaChitarelor
@@amvandmusic2169 Wow, thank you for replying so quickly and for helping people get exposed to Guthrie!
A very very good guitarist! However, I think he should take some lessons from Matteo Mancuso on how to perform Jeff Beck's song, the last one wrote by Stevie Wonder.
With most typical blues based guitarists, you kinda always know what they're going to do next.....with GG...not so much
Worst mistake of Mr Guthrie is maybe a fantastic lick for other guitarists ......
NUNO PAPPA!
Year 1989 Extreme -Extreme
Nothing new
NEXT!!!
the "reason" i've stopped watching and listening to Guthrie, is that he playes so good,it makes me feel bad.....although i'm not.....soo....sorry Guthrie.
I know where you're coming from man, but there's a way that you could actually let it inspire you to get better, even if you don't get as good as him it could inspire you to get way better than you are, I felt the same way when I saw Eric Johnson in concert in San Diego in the early 2000s but then I went home that night and stayed up all night and practiced on my S.G without the amplifier because my roommates was sleeping and I stayed up till dawn just trying to do some of the things that he did
I’m impressed but has he played anything original that is memorable, or sonically digestible for the common non guitar playing public?
Yep, check out his Erotic Cakes album... and his work as one third of The Aristocrats...
Stunning technical player, but only a small portion of the population (guitar geeks) will appreciate him, or pay to see him play. Most people don't like music like this. Sort of like Steve Vai...good technician, but his music is mostly just a vehicle to show of his technical ability. And Vai complains that his music isn't played on the radio. It's because your songs suck Steve. People don't want to hear it.
There's really some truth in it.
As a guitarist myself I can appreciate the virtuosity of players like them but often the compositions/pieces are boring and they give me nothing - emotionaly. They don't touch me. I always thought and say fast fingers alone don't make it.
Isn't it just sad being a musician, playing for a living.
Guthrie's net worth is 6 million..so probably not
@@davederoux3361lol where did you read that 😂
@@jessemitchell4618 from about 7 different sources on the internet.
@@davederoux3361 unless he does stuff outside music, no way he makes anywhere near 7mil from music, probably not even 1 mil.
The problem is 99.99% of people do not listen to music like this. So he plays to between 20 to 80 people the most. IMO
Go watch any live performance of him lol he plays for at least 100 everytime when he's not on a Hanz Zimmer world tour lol
I love Guthrie but I think he overplays a lot. That fast run at 7:18 is a thing he does very often and it's not very tasteful musically to be honest.
Exactly! Check Matteo Mancuso playing this song! Much tastier and closer to the message, to what this song conveys and expresses.
Considering how much he can shred, I don't think he overplays a lot. I get what you're saying though. He has a favorite fast run and he revisits it a lot.
Brilliant??
People will still say Jimi Hendrix is best
. What a joke
@@kwgt9198 100% agree!!!
its not a race... i love Guthrie as a person, but his playing is just fast licks played perfectly, like a prepogrammed MIDI stuff on a computer, i miss the person inside it.
He hits some clinkers now and then. He's obviously got amazing chops, but musically he doesn't really doing anything for me. I find him rather boring.
he is good at times but musically he is not Beck nor Hendrix nor Trent , he is trying to whoo people with speed and pyrotechnics
Nuno has better pick up control.
I don't like Guthrie because arrogant.
Slash is the best😁👍👍
