Close your eyes and listen to this whole video - and you can just completely picture the actual person he's impersonating perfectly. It's truly uncanny - like Rich Little of the guitar world. From the attack, to even pick noise (which is really evident on players like Scofield). @@Free2shred00 Oh yeah, I totally agree. Anything that has him anywhere near the top 100 on lists is just ridiculous really, unless it's purely a list for the best riff-writers or something (and even then he wouldn't be near the top).
john m I have some friends that consider Tom Morello to be their ‘favourite guitarist’. It’s hard to fight the natural instinct of an eye roll and a deep sigh when I hear them praise that overrated mediocrity.
Guthrie is the most complete, versatile virtuoso electric guitar player that has ever lived. Jon Gomm is the most complete, versatile virtuoso acoustic guitar player that has ever lived. I feel lucky to have met and experienced a guitar workshop and gig with both of them.
Tosin Abasi is as good or better than these guys in a totally different way. More original actually. GG is absolutely amazing tho and I am a huge fan.
amazing guitar playing, an audible costume party.
I'm so glad Sonny Landreth was on here too. I never really see him get recognized as a great player. Definitely underrated in my opinion. Especially in terms of slide guitar players.
1:33 the lick in Guthrie's Beautiful imperfection
It was kinda eyeopening when I realised I recognised all the guitarist and their style. Just shows how much musical knowledge there is to be achieved in the world.
Guthrie just understands guitar on a level beyond anyone
Beyond anyone is a stretch. Tosin Abasi from Animals As Leaders I think takes it farther into originality. Don't think GG could play him either for the most part.
Its truly amazing to see him nail all those different players. God skills
govan's like the Ditto of guitar players, i wonder if a master ball will work on him
4:43 don’t know why but this brief lick at the turnaround’s end sounds so cool
Close your eyes and listen to this whole video - and you can just completely picture the actual person he's impersonating perfectly. It's truly uncanny - like Rich Little of the guitar world. From the attack, to even pick noise (which is really evident on players like Scofield). That said, G2 is an amazing stylist in his own right, and has a sound and style that is as uniquely his own as the greats that he can effortlessly impersonate. My only regret is that he didn't include SRV. :(
He included Jimi though
So ahead of his time, even with this pandemic-friendly presentation 😍
Back in Lithuania (not really from there. Just sounds good for more story) I heard the story of the Guitar demon who could replicate your style and put you to shame with his technical ability, all while smiling a boyish smile, not ever really shaving much...THE LEGEND IS TRUE!
BEWARE! THE GUITAR DEMON! HE EXISTS! HE'LL STEAL YOUR STYLE AND SHOW THE WORLD OVER WHY HE'S THE GREATEST MODERN DAY GUITARIST!
Scared myself! How will I sleep tonight?!
His name is Damian Salazar.
so hold on a minute, this guy is like dracula?
Im from lithuania tell me more
@@asesuserasnaidzelas You are? Get out! What a coincidence! You know Steve from Punžonys? LOL
@@kojam1 no lol, its like asking do u know Lee from tokyo
This dude might be the greatest musician ever honestly. Who can do this but Guthrie
Yeah but can 20 guitarists play Guthrie Govan ?
OMG 1k likes!!
No
No
hard no
nope
SawrioSarangi in the world, probably over 1000, hehe, but famous guitarrista? Hmm i don’t think many, the deceased Shawn lane could’ve ofc, hes a big inspiration for gg, maybe bucket head...
20 reasons why Guthrie Govan is one of my favourite guitarists
Best Sweep Picking Yngwie? He's a legend don't get me wrong but to me that title belongs to Jason Becker. Jason deserves a place on this list along with Marty Friedman
I mean Yngwie can't last 3 seconds without sweeping so idk
It's not just about picking style, YJM uses half dim arpeggios so much and his make a style with it, Am harmonic Minor than switch to E phrygian dominant and booom welcome to neoclassical genre :)
There is nothing to be said about him.. just GOAT
Guthrie is probably the only one that can imitate Allan Holdsworth. Genius player.
Have you seen Max Oslo?
@@Elienguitar It's OSTRO
honestly this is some of the most humorous guitar related shit i've ever seen. there's just something about hearing satch's playing all my life and then seeing it tabbed out as all legato slurs like that which makes me laugh. and guthrie absolutely nails the signatures of all these guys hahaha, it's incredible. in all the minute details!!
I hear the humour too. A sense of fun.
It actually should be-
Best string bending- Guthrie Govan
This is absolutely nuts, hilarious and amazing all in one! Extreme talent plus dedication: Govan.
Guthrie Govan is THE BOMB!
Woooow !!!! That was incredible !!! He even got the right tones. Loved it !!!
Eric Johnson is the most touchy guitarist, very clean, playing with heart and subtility
I remember picking up Guitar School magazines back in the early 90s, Guthrie was one of the transcribers and insanely good even back then 👌
