System actually put on the best live performance I've ever seen and I've seen a lot. Seen Slipknot , Disturbed, Godsmack, Tool, KoRn (original band), Deftones, Metallica, Chevelle, Staind, Rage , Mudvayne, Manson, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Pantera, Killswitch ( before singer quit) Papa roach, Rob Zombie, I could keep going and going and I still say System is the best I've seen live

Metal heads don’t usually have a mean, tough personality. All the metal heads I know are really nice and funny. They are so calm and passive. We get all our anger and hate out through our metal music. It is a way to cope and vent while still sounding as badass as ever. It’s just a stereotype that metal heads are mean, satanist, and evil.

spiders conquest My dad listened to metal since junior high. He stopped listening after he started teaching a Met my mom. One day he downloaded a few Iron Maiden songs. I was coming home from school and saw the new songs and listened to them. I told my dad later that day that I liked the songs. We have downloaded over 200 metal songs are have gone to three metal concerts. All my dad’s students say he is the best teacher because he is so calm and nice. People say I am the most approachable kid in school and I am fairly calm. Metal is the greatest thing ever.

I like System of a Down a lot, enough to say they are one of my favorite bands. I do think you summed it up perfectly when you said it was kind of comforting to listen to, even if it has heavier sounds. I love the different transitions in the songs. I do like knowing the meaning, but sometimes I may not enjoy the songs as much if I know what it's really about. I love the dynamic this band has and I do think they have a lot of energy songs. It's a way to release any anger or angst. I especially relate to the last verse when he's talking about father forsakening him. If you want to hear angrier songs by this band, definitely check out sugar. I would even suggest lonely day by them. A different band member is singing it and is more peaceful. Another good one like that is aerials. Toxicity is good. Really, anything by them is good.

What's great about Metal is that there is no boundaries. They write and sing about any subject. When you think about it every genre of music (in a way) limits itself to only so many topics for some reason. Metal has many sub-genres so depending on how you feel or what you want to listen to you can go from Thrash to Power or Nu-Metal to Death. Almost everyone in the Metal world has a different definition of what Metal is or what they consider Metal. But in the end we're all just a big Metalhead family that mosh at concerts/festivals every year.

I’ve literally heard the guys known for music about ninjas, light speed, and battles make songs about heartbreak and times changing

@Kefka Palazzo Why would you say that you dont have any arguments about that. I'm not a Metalhead but the things they discust are very different and much more deep than the things they discust in Hip Hop. Give me solid arguments why you would think I wouldnt know much about hip-hop, or even better tell me Hip Hop artist that do bring things like these up in their tracks. When you can say "I raped my parents and killed em" in Metal, it really wouldnt work in Hip-Hip.

Hey Alex I just stumbled upon your reaction videos today, and am really enjoying them. I think you might like some of Rob Zombies earlier work with White Zombie. I would probably recommend More Human Than Human if you haven't heard it. His brother Spider has a band as well, Powerman 5000. They didn't really take off, but had a great song When Worlds Collide. It might be worth a listen to. I also dont know if you like covers, but Five Finger Death Punch's cover of Gone Away is awesome, and gives the feels. To really appreciate it I think you need to listen to the original by the Offspring first. Anyways kept posting the excellent content.

Well, as a 39 year old I can say when I was a teenager and in college metal meant a lot to me because I was rebelling against family, school, 'the man' ect. I was sick of trying to make everyone but myself happy. Then along comes metal and says "fuck you" to all of that. Now as an adult I am a much less angry/rebellious person but I still love this shit. Everyone has that little voice in their head that says "fuck this". Metal just personifies that.

Song was great, reaction was great but the important thing to note here is I believe she rode one of those busses that had the engine in the rear instead of the front. I think they had 1 long seat in the back that stretched across the aisle because there was no emergency exit back there making it unnecessary for 2 separate rows.

I'd really like to see your reaction to All Becomes Nothing by Hateform. Vocals aside I think you guys might find the depth of the instrumentals intriguing.

If you want to see more giant drum kits, Mike Portnoy's kit with Dream Theater was gigantic, and Neal Peart's Rush kit is crazy too.

Serj Tankian is one amazing singer and Chop Suey isn't the kind of song where you can hear that to it's max. Give Aerials a try, that one is slower but so full of emotion and energy, i still find it ridiculous after 16 years. Other great songs to give a shot are B.Y.O.B., Toxicity, Know, Science and Psycho.
@Sarah, i saw System of a Down in 2013 live, i started somewhere front row and during the period of 3-4 songs, ive been in the back, left front, in the middle, to the right and about where i started. It's one gigantic ball of people jumping around!

Funny story about my first introduction to System of a Down, I was about 15 and my little sister had been hanging at our dads house a lot she comes home one day all excited and tells me she wants to play a song for me but she has to warn me it’s pretty intense so I ask her how intense because I was listening to a lot of slipknot and Korn at the time so she tells me it’s like having a paper cut on my eardrums! I’m like that sounds awful!! Let’s do this!! So she plays byob on max volume and changed my world lol

Serj Tarskian is one of the most strange, beautyfull and out of this world voices that you'll ever hear.
He also didi a lot of "classical" songs, just him and a rhytmic guitar, sometimes singing songs from his childhood (he's from Armenian's parents), and its the most beautifull thing you can hear.
And strangely enough those that can sing high and powerfull in metal are like ideals fits for softer songs and balads, maybe since they have a lot of control and modularity to their voices.
Also you should try Arch Enemy, you'll be blown away!

Technically the screamo she talked about was called Post Hardcore more than likely. Bands like Hawthorne Heights, My Chemical Romance, and The Used. You both should do dual reactions to her old music or check out While She Sleeps - Silence Speaks. Kinda in the same realm but they're metalcore. :) check it out!!

Saw SOAD live in 99. They opened for Limp Bizkit and Redman/Methodman. It was the craziest show I've ever been too. The croud was a living moving force and it took everything in me to stay on my feet. Craziest concert ever!

But after that we got into them in a big way! great reaction!

I know this is an older video, but you should do a reaction to the band Lordi and the song loud red sandman. It's not nearly as heavy as some of the other stuff you try out... but damn! This song is damn good!

In my 11-12th grade AP Art class, we had to pick a song and do a piece reacting to it. I picked Chop Suey.
Then during the in class critique, they had us play the song and then explain…oh my gosh the stereos were set too loud for this shit!!!! And I’m was a quiet glasses wearing girl…the whole situation was so baaaaaad!
But I still love this song. 😝
