Fun story- in my high school Spanish class we got to talking about different types of music... one kid brought this up and had his mp3 player. He educated us all on the message of the song and why we should always listen to the lyrics because they dont always mean what 'you remember' and at the time, I knew this song 'party have a good time' It was eye-opening... and I've been a music fan ever since. Fuck I love him for that.
I love that he picked up on the Queen thing. Both bands are just so over the top in all the best ways. The theater of their performance, the abstract nature of their lyrics, the odd tonalities and tempo changes to accentuate the lyrical and emotional content of the songs. Love it.

I was in Iraq when this song came out. Literally the huge majority of the infantry were all white kids from middle class families. We had several college graduates, many who quit their high paying jobs post 9/11 In order to join up.

@miTHexum I knew several guys who had plenty of money before they joined. I know a guy that owned 3 sprint stores and was a pro mma fighter before he joined. Several guys with college degrees and many more who turned down athletic scholarships to join. This is the airborne infantry I'm talking about. I came from a middle class white family and the vast majority of the infantry does as well. The funny thing is I make more twice as much money now, than both my parents combined, largely thanks to the military, and I'd go back today if they asked me. The military was the greatest adventure of my life. I have zero regrets.

I used to agree with that, until I just recently watched his Thy Art Is Murder reaction and he enjoyed it. Partially cause the music is amazing, partially cause of the meaning of the lyrics and he said he didn't mind the screaming as much in it, so maybe he's turning a corner a bit and can handle a bit more screaming. 'Four Walls' would be a great one also to start with, but Lawrence writes such good, meaningful lyrics I think he'd end up digging most of it. And 'Death Toll' is just sooo f'n good. Cheers man!

PS2: Finishing watching this video, I want to make a kind of philosophical question due to something you said Alex: You were talking about presidents declaring war but moving the poor as pawns.
Now, I'm from a country where most people are totally against the army and stuff (due to dictatorships we've had) so all I know about it is mostly from an outsider point of view. Whenever we think about the soldiers we say "Oh, poor vets, they are left alone" etc. Yet a huge amount of people still go to the war.
And when you think about it really deep enough it's almost impossible to draw the line of where the limit is for "defending" and "attacking". It's honestly kind of scary to think what would happen if suddenly USA withdrew its entire army from other countries, what would happen without "that intel". The utopia is that everyone just stops fighting all at once but we know that's not going to happen, there's always that SOAB who wants more control and power.
