Ms Naptural, thank you for your professional opinion on this appliance. I started getting gray hair at the age of 19. I then started dying my hair up until about 6 years ago. I was tired of dying it and decided to embrace my gray. I have a patch of gray in the very center of the top of my head. It's a nice size patch. I get soooo many compliments about it. Of course I have a bunch of stragglers too. @@mrsvirgo4life Yes! I wear a part right down the middle or a side part very close to where the patch starts. And when I two-strand twist it, I try to put it all in one twist. I love it!
I agree! I've had mine for years and my thickness and texture is like Whitney's and it indeed works. I don't straighten my hair but maybe 2-3 times a yr anyway but I no longer use a regular flat iron.
Exactly. By having the texture you know for sure theres no heat damage. That really straight look is good until your hair cant revert to its original texture due to heat damage.
@@Turquoise4evaYes. She has beautiful hair! I will always wear it textured with the length she has. We are not born with naturally straight hair, so we should all be learning how to enjoy and embrace our textured hair!❤❤❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰👍👍
i love the finished look! i’ve recently started loving and embracing “poofy straight” hair lol. it’s also saved my hair lots of damage to not be so concerned with getting it pin straight and eliminating every ounce of frizz. i feel like it’s a really unique look that really only women with textured hair can achieve. ❤
Same here! Mostly because I just can't get it as straight at home as they do at the salon but my wallet thanks me when I can do it myself. I have long hair so it's COSTLY. Plus they usually go through my whole head twice and ain't nobody got time for that lol. I've embraced the poofy straight too!
My Whitney, I have been watching you for nearly fifteen years I think and I am so proud of you. I smiled when I heard you say "I am licensed cosmetologist" You should make this in to a short
I use this from time to time, and I learned that if you comb through at an angle and give it a little tension against the plates, it gets straighter. Combing straight down does definitely leave texture because all of the hair isn’t against the plates. I also frizz right back up quick of if I don’t use some kind of holding spray or finishing oil. Edit: Also I can get the “good” results from unstretched, non-blown out hair too. It’s all about the tension.
The longer my hair gets the more I prefer the kinky straight/textured look. I still enjoy a good silk press but this is a happy medium of stretching hair, showing length, having versatility without risking heat damage!
I've had mine for a few years, and it has definitely saved me money and trips to the salon. I wasn't able to get my hair bone straight before. Now, no problem. Use your heat protectant, ladies❣️
It’s so nice to see your beautiful face! Happy Mother’s Day! ❤ I can also attest to your oil blend working really well when I straighten my hair! I put a little on it at night, put it in a Bantu knot bun situation for waves in the morning, and it’s moisturized and shiny without being weighed down. I love it so much
I got a tymo recently, I like it but it really doesn't give the sleek result like the flat-iron. It feels unfinished for me. I find that it's most efficient if I go in on big sections to get my roots straight with the tymo and then go back in on my length/ends with the flat-iron to get some shape and silkiness.
Love my Tymo straightener. I've had it for 3 yrs and I think its perfect for my type of hair, which is medium long but not thick and not too thin. Its usually last over a week. Next I will be buying the Tymo Curler Iron.
I have a Tymo. It straightens my hair really well with one pass and on a lower setting. I’m sure it depends on a person’s hair, but I am pleased with it and I’m considering getting the Tymo curling iron next.
If someone would have told me 9 years ago you would straighten your hair I would laugh in their face so hard but look at you now!! I love this and your hair is amazing still!
I'm super late, but HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!! I grew up with you, I'm 31 now. Blessings and positive vibes to you and yours. Thank you for all that you do, and thank you for STILL posting on here for us. Warm regards from Florida.
I’ve had the tymo since 2020. I don’t straighten my hair often, but when I do and I use it, my hair never is not poofy and I can never get my roots properly. I don’t really care for it.
I'm ok with texture in my hair after straightening. Flat iron is the best for me tho. Got my hair done at the shop for mothers day and my hair was so silky straight that I hand no body, no volume and EVERYTHING slipped off my head.....hair pins, head bands, sleep scarf. After a week I washed it out. I realize why I haven't gone in years and it's because I love my hair. I love my natural. I love my texture. I love my frizz. I love my fro. I love the flexibility.
I’ve been using the Tymo for a few years as well. After a good enough blow out, I can get a really great, silk press like result, with few passes. So easy for me!
I have this straightener. I use it on my kinky straight wig. I love the blowout look it gives. It gets straighter with more passes if that’s what you like. Also, I’m 59 years old and have never had to dye my hair. I have maybe a total of 10 grey hairs spaced sporadically on my head while I’ve seen others my age fully grey. I don’t even think it’s genetic, I think it’s just the luck of the draw. Like most things! You have very lovely healthy looking hair🙂
I have the ring plus and it get my hair flat iron straight. But my high porosity hair just suck all the moisture from the air. My hair curls up . I live Florida.
@@jenniwilliams3295 then it clearly don’t work or maybe for a certain texture of hair bone straight. I can see it making Caucasian hair bone straight but for an African American woman with thick course hair maybe not. I would try this product but I wouldn’t expect bone straight. And I would use this product alone if I have to use another comb or brush whilst using it that defeats the purpose of it being a stand alone tool. The purpose of it being made that way is to eliminate using all the extra tools. Like when we use a flat iron and a comb or brush at the same time. Which is why I said I don’t think it was meant to make hair bone straight not textured hair anyway.
@@Rabbit_the_RealtorI concur. My child has hair like Whitney. After a blow dry, if I want bone straight, I'll use the Tymo flat iron, only two to three times a year. Of I she just wants to wear it out BEFORE I twist or braid it up, then I'll use the straightener. So if it frizzes up in two days, I'm fine with that because I'll be braiding or twisting it up anyways - win/win!! I dont let her wear it out too often - she's 11 and, well, she's 11!! Two days tops!!
I want my hair bone straight initially because it makes it last longer between washings! I have one similar to the Tymo and when I start straightening my hair again I'll follow up with hot curlers.
I've had my tymo for three years and I love it! Will it replace a proper blowout and flatiron? Never, but when you don't have the energy for all of that and just want straight hair it's so easy to use.
I still had texture and frizz after using mine as well. I only use my Revair when I flat iron and I did the same thing before using TYMO but it was a no for me. I had to return mine. My hair is always sleek after using my Revair followed by flat iron. The issue is certainly with the TYMO. My hair didn’t look bad after but definitely the same results that you show here.

I love the Tymo straightener. I have the old version which looks more like a paddle brush. It straightens very quickly because I can use bigger sections. I use it at 390 but have used it at 410 before. The only thing I dont like is that it pulls out a little more hair than I would like.
Was waiting on you to turn around and give us a view of the hair from behind and how it lays down. I got mine last year. I love it. My 15 yr old just used it on her hair and it came out niceeee.
Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! Love the gray. You will get used to it. I will be putting this in my Amazon cart for purchase. Thank you for showing us a new tool!
I like the tymo for getting to my edges but I found that I had to go over my hair too many times and this caused a bit of heat damage but I do like it. Just not don’t expect flat iron straightening.
I have been so curious about this product/tool ever since it came out. This is the best review so far. I have wavy hair, but curly when wet and I wet it often. When I want to blow it out, only one side is not awkward. I don't have a good flat iron, so I decided to loc my hair for a while. Hydrating my hair daily means relocing it every 2 weeks,(a pain). Styling is, "ugh!!" Sometimes, I just want an easy-to-use to use straight styling tool for awkward hands with painful wrist issues (R.A).Thanks for sharing.💖💖
Happy Mother's Day! 💕 I embrace my white hair now. Mines started around 17. Just use some type of toning purple shampoo/conditioner for blonde, grey/gray/, or white hair & you will love it even more. It brightens instantly. Happy healthy hair journey everyone! 😊
So I have the tymo and used it along with my flat iron because I wanted the sleek effect. And I should have started with a better blow dry, then I would've gotten better results. I used the tymo on 390 n my iron on a 20 setting but still had frizz. Next time I will blow dry better instead of rushing n see how tmit comes out then.
The Tymo is a quick straightener, I use the highest setting but it doesn't get bone straight unless I follow up with a flat iron. It gets straight & in about an hour frizzes
1. If the gray in the front bugs you, they sell colorsticks that can color edges or roots. I have one by the folks who make Royal Crowne hair dressing and I had some that I got from Sallys Beauty also. I didn't use it often, but there are some times when I don't like where or how the gray is placed in my hair style and I'll dab it. I('m now at the point of no return with both gray and white hair). 2. I have an older version of that hair straightener and it really does work. RevAir then that, makes a quick job of straightening type 4 hair-- which is good for me, bc I only straighten a couple times a year in order to give my hair a good trim...I actually get angry that the straight hair lasts longer than I want it to bc I prefer wearing my hair curly.
yes I have to use the highest setting and it still really doesn't get it silk flat. I still need the hot comb in the fire method or just a professional to do it.
I bought this on a whim in 2020, and I use it at least twice a year. I love it! I usually blow dry my hair before I use it, and my hair gets pretty straight. I have the same patch of grey hair and I love it! I want to dye my hair, but haven’t because I don’t want to cover my greys😂 backwards much? 🤣
@@Naptural85 I remember that video but unless it was gifted to you, I always try to get my money back. I would like a comparison to the timer brush. I don't have a straightener to use other than the ReVair reverse hair dryer so I'm wondering what to pick and how to prep my hair before. Actually I do have an electric hot comb but I don't know if I'd be able to tell what temperature it's on I guess you probably wouldn't advise using that
Its'great to see you use the Tymo. I have very thick 4C hair and it took me 3 attempts to really get it super sleek. The blow dry is crucial though. I think my Tymo is slightly different as it has the digital display and I use 400 and do slow small sections. Your hair looks amazing!
I’ve had this long before it went viral. I absolutely love it! I got to the 4th setting because I have fine hair and it’s almost just as straight as a professional flat iron every time. I curl it after a few days with heat and it’s totally silked out after that. I can keep my hair straight for about 2 1/2 weeks after that. But I do sweat in my head so it’ll probably last longer for someone who doesn’t.
Oh, I did not expect this to work like a flat iron because you're not actually "pressing" the hair. This is the only way I straighten my hair because it gets pretty straight with one pass on the highest heat setting, but I also don't feel bad about doing additional passes, haha. It's definitely not bone straight results, but given how infrequently I straighten my hair and the coarseness and kinkiness of it, getting bone straightness to last is nigh impossible anyway. The biggest weakness of the tymo imo is the ends. Maybe it's my blow-out, but I always plan to cut the last inch or so off whenever I straighten, haha.
I’ve been using Tymo for 4 years!! I can’t believe they are going viral NOW?! I’ve been telling my whole family about these tools and they switched all their straighteners ro TYMO. I pair the Tymo comb with Laifen Blow Dryer and the results????? Like silkeeeeeeey preeeeeessed! 👏🏽😭
Thank you so much for your honest review. I hate buying things when people are sponsored by the company. I feel like they can’t fully give an honest answer.
Hey @Naptural85 Thank you for this review. It was just in time. I was gifted this straightner and have yet to try it. This might be the gamer changer i need for my daughters' thick hair. PS HAPPY MOTHERS DAY🎉😊
I was going to ask but I figured someone in the comments already did, thank you! I thought I was crazy when I would spray my heat protectant on and my hair would frizz immediately, I didn’t know there was an option for a “dry” one!
OMG, just the review I been looking for! Thank you Whitney, I was very much on the fence about buying the Tymo Straightening Brush. I was wondering about Color Wow, but I see you were using a different product. I wanted to know if you have tried the Color Wow Extra Strength Dream Coat. Would love to see you review that. Thanks again!
Okay whitney, the Color Wow Dream Coat heat protectant and anti-humidity spray . If it keeps the humidity out does he keep me from moisturizing my hair until the next three or four shampoos which is when it is supposed to wash out? I've been so confused about this
Seems like you just recently cut your hair, it has gotten so long! I really like the grey hairs! I was looking at this earlier, I'm glad you gave this straightener a try.
Ah, the RevAir is what did you in. I knew it! I really only use the RevAir to touch up my roots after I go running. It's not sufficient for prepping the hair for a flat iron. I love the Tymo because it makes straightening fast and uncomplicated, and as someone who works remotely I really don't need to do anything fancy or too perfect. I can't always get my roots like a hot comb would, but no one's gonna notice. If I want to get my hair super straight, though, I just figured out the comb chase technique, but I don't use a comb. There's a clamped, two-sided bristle brush that I can use to create tension and separation, then I just use a regular flat iron.
Great seeing you again Whit. Your greys look like highlights, mine are just out of control. Each time I say I'm gonna embrace them & then I see how out of control they are and won't stay tame for anything😮💨 and back to the color I go
Hey Whitney! I have the Revlon version of this. It changes the game for me because my hands don’t act right with a flat iron lol. I love the SZA look that I get with it.
You have to try the new version, and almost more importantly you need to use the glove! It's helps you hold the hair to the brush with more tension. The glove makes a difference.
@Luvanmusiq , you use it to hold the hair. If you do one pass, it helps you hold it close to the brush. If you do two passes, it also allows you to hold it close to the brush, and to hold your now hot hair.

Thanks for the review. I did purchase the Tymo, and I am satisfied. I am 1 year into natural hair care
Hi! Beautiful work! Can you please share the heat protection that you used?
I’m wondering too. Is it Color WOW?
The Tymo is a quick straightener, I use the highest setting but it doesn't get bone straight unless I follow up with a flat iron. It gets straight & in about an hour frizzes
I have my Tymo for about 3 years. It’s my fav. I like that it leaves some texture.
Hey girl Heyyyy!!! Your hair grew so fast. Can you do a VS with this and the Revlon Brush? Great Video
Hey Jasmine!! I threw my Revlon brush away bc I thought it was faulty! 😭😭😆 I’ll have to go buy another! 🥰🫶🏾
@@Naptural85 That's Right I totally forgot about that 😆.. Thanks for responding ❤️
I love WOW, I use their dream coat heat protectant.
Can you show us how you use a round brush on your hair?
Thanks for this video and for sharing your gray hair journey! I agree that this product delivers good results and helps tame the grays!
What heat protectants/ stay straight , anti frizz serums are y’all using because everything I try doesn’t work.
I really would like to know this as well. I’ve tried so many and they don’t work well.
I received the TYMO heat brush for Christmas and I don’t love it, but I do like it. It gets the job done ok👍🏽
LOVE the final look, personally! I'm definitely going to get this product after this review, can't wait to give it a try!🤩
I'm here standing by my girl all these years! You go honey!!
Any heat damage at all?
Thank you so much for your honest review. I hate buying things when people are sponsored by the company. I feel like they can’t fully give an honest answer.
Hey @Naptural85
Thank you for this review. It was just in time. I was gifted this straightner and have yet to try it. This might be the gamer changer i need for my daughters' thick hair.
PS
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY🎉😊
Happy Mother’s Day ❤. Question? How do u clean it ?
I love the highlights that your silver hair give to your natural hair color 💚🪶
I love using this tool for my daughter who doesn't need a slik press but just a little straight so i can braid her hair faster
Is this like a modern-day pressing comb? Just trying to understand if this is better (or different) in any way
I think this maybe.
This straightener is the best.I had mine for a year. And bought one for my sister
What’s the hair protectant pleeeease? 🙏🏽
Goldwell Just Smooth
I was going to ask but I figured someone in the comments already did, thank you! I thought I was crazy when I would spray my heat protectant on and my hair would frizz immediately, I didn’t know there was an option for a “dry” one!
OMG, just the review I been looking for! Thank you Whitney, I was very much on the fence about buying the Tymo Straightening Brush. I was wondering about Color Wow, but I see you were using a different product. I wanted to know if you have tried the Color Wow Extra Strength Dream Coat. Would love to see you review that. Thanks again!
I purchased that straighter for myself for Mother’s Day! Happy Mother’s day to you!
Your hair came out beautiful . Do your hair products work on all types of hair?
Please make a video of your full straightening routine!!
Okay whitney, the Color Wow Dream Coat heat protectant and anti-humidity spray . If it keeps the humidity out does he keep me from moisturizing my hair until the next three or four shampoos which is when it is supposed to wash out? I've been so confused about this
Whitney, it looks great! It's ok if it has a little texture. Remember we don't want heat damage. I love it.!
I love the gray hair! It's giving Rogue from X-Men!
Loooovvveee this brush on my roots after a rollerset.
I think larger sections passing through the comb results in sleeker hair.
I take old school Gerito whitney and i must say it made me regular if u know what i mean and boosted my iron levels
Happy belated Mother's Day Whitney!⚘ I've been waiting to hear your thoughts on this straightener
I'm embracing textured straight hair. I think it's stunning and I no longer want bone straight hair
Wow Whitney your hair is grooowwwinggg!!!!
Good to know you’re still using another comb to chase your hair. This means to me i may as well stick to a flat iron. ❤
My hair is thick and graying as well. I am not a "hair person". Can you recommend a conditioner(s)? No judgments.
Seems like you just recently cut your hair, it has gotten so long! I really like the grey hairs!
I was looking at this earlier, I'm glad you gave this straightener a try.
I've been waiting for you to teach us how to do a silk press
My daughter gave me one for my birthday. It's amazing.
Do you blow dry your hair first then use the Tymo?
@@jujutrini8412 yes. Always. I use the Revlon round brush.
@@lolitafalana Thanks for replying.
I Love my tymo, I have both the larger one, and this one. I also brought the straigtner/curler one too! Not as much a fan of the curler one
Why don’t you use the Revair before straightening hair?? I just purchased one for that reason 😅
I was just eyeing the new version! Thanks! Do you use the glove to hold the hair or tool?
@Luvanmusiq , you use it to hold the hair. If you do one pass, it helps you hold it close to the brush. If you do two passes, it also allows you to hold it close to the brush, and to hold your now hot hair.
