Once the flax seeds cools, you can mix it with the aloe vera, to save time and you can keep it in the fridge for whatever you want to use it. Also next time boil the seeds with some cloves. And strain it like normal. The cloves is a extra power house for the hair.
I just made this the correct way. Use 2-1/4 cups water, and 1/4 cup flaxseeds. As soon as the water gets slightly slimmey, remove the pot from the stove and let it cool off for only 10 minutes. The longer you let it cool the thicker the gel will gets and the harder it is to strain. Then strain it into a bowl.
I realize most persons wait until the seeds cool before straining. However its best once you boil it you can strain it hot. It strains out better tgat way. You just let it cool and it will thinken up. When you boil flaxseed at times it doesn't seem to be thickning up after 15 min to 20 min but after straining hot as mentioned and then cooling it you'll see it. That how i do it works. Too much work to cool it and the try strain. It slips through strainer when hot.
I've been using flaxseed as a gel for many years including on all my children and I can't stress the benefits of this little beautiful seeds. My kids hair wan't stop growing. Its amazing..
Can you share your recipe or how you use it on your children's hair? And what oils you find that works best with this when left in as a leave in conditioner/gel. Please and thank you
@@Curious_gen Hey! Check out this video for the recipe in the description box: ua-cam.com/video/dMd8448Q_dE/v-deo.html Jojoba would probably be good. Thanks!
I did mine cold (48 hours in fridge, stir 24 hours in) to try to keep more health benefits from the seed. It works so good & my curls loved it & the definition was real. Next time I’ll add oils & not toss the seeds. Thanks for the video.
I saw this Flaxseed thing over the weekend and got shocked. Here in Kenya I bought 100g at 0.75 dollars, divided the portion into two and now I have almost 300ml of the gel. I can't wait to try and show this powerful ingredient! Thanks for showing us how to apply it 😍😍😍
I LOVE FLAX GEL!! THAT IS ALL I USE! my curls love this! I also add rosemary from my garden and mint to stimulate my hair follicles. Boil it all together and beautiful curls you will have!!! Wonderful on your skin too!
Hi Jamila. A few tips... Try straining the flakseed gel whilst still hot and you get more gel out of it and less messy. Next tip, you can try applying flakseed gel on your hair next time without any cream first, it still gives you that beautiful shine and obedient curls. Michelle.❤
I don’t know much about the gel thingy but I read you can use 1/4 cup of the seeds and 3 cups of water and when it begins to foam, you take it off the stove while it’s watery. After it cools, it gets thick and slimy.
I love how your hair came out. I guess nature is the way to go. Flaxseed is way better than the regular gel they sell. With Flaxseeds you don’t have to worry about chemicals.
It also works if it's a bit watery. I generally get just enough for one application with 1c of water and 2tbs of flaxseeds. It stinks after awhile so I don't make to much at once 😅
I use 1/4 cup Flaxseed to 2 cups water and get the consistency I want in about 10 minutes. I use a mesh strainer immediately after boiling then let the gel cool in a container that can handle heat.. I have heard of some people buying a strainer that fits over the pot then boil the seeds in the strainer.
Your results are beautiful! I used to do flaxseed gel but I used to apply it to wet hair and so it would get very messy. I have a sensitive scalp and most gel I used causes itching after a couple of days. I think I'm going to try flaxseed gel again using this method
Love this tutorial. I am about to go curly for 3 months straight .no heat I am excited.and I want to get to a place where I only straighten it for part of the winter.with a silk head wrap
Love your curls...it's beautiful and springy. I have loose curls and its sometimes frizzy. Gonna try flaxseed gel recipe shared by you. Thanks much for sharing. ❤
You let it cool after few minutes of pouring the flaxseed into the boiling water. Then set it aside to cool. As it cools off, the watery consistency of flaxseed begins to thicken up. Then you pour into a tight sieve or stocking to squeeze out more of the gel.
You are using too much water. All you need is a cup of water. Once it gets a little slimmy you remove it from the stove and let it sit for 30 minutes to thicken.
Hi, thanks for this vid! I had a similar experience first time I made flaxseed gel in that it came out much darker than I expected from the vids I'd seen previously. Turns out there's 2 types of flaxseeds, brown and golden... guess which ones I'd been using! Also, if you use the golden ones and add hibiscus it's comes out a lovely pink colour, unless you're heavy handed like me, in which case it comes out properly RED...
Actually it's better to boil until slightly thick. It can be poured into a metal strainer easily. Thick is not good as the cooling down process makes it thicker. Strain while hot and it works perfectly. It will continue to thicken In the container. No need to use cloth strainer. What a mess that can be!!!
❤ your transparency I had some of the same issues with getting the flaxseed to make enough. Your hair turned out really elegant. I'm thinking i can rock an up do similar to your slicked down ponytail. Thanks!
Pls how long can the flaxed seed last without been refrigerated.does it spoil fast after preparation.how can someone preserve it after preparation for use.
Wow thanks for sharing this powerful remedy I will definitely try this out ,my hair is still short but I will curl it with flaxseed gel definitely 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Another great recipe for flaxseed gel is mixing it with Wetline or EcoStyler gel. You can add whatever oil you wish. Mixing them together makes a nice custard. It gives the best of both worlds between Flaxseed and Wetline. Any gel would probably work too:)
😂 I knew this question was coming. I really want to give the flaxseed gel one more try on a wash and go then I will definitely compare the two gels and share my opinion with you all! 😊
I don’t know if anyone mentioned in the comments yet. I don’t go through the comments. You messed up by over cooking it. It was fine at first before you let it dry and add more water. It normal for it to look watery while is hot, once it cools down it gets to the texture that you need. I love your hair girl 😍

You can always freeze the gel in an ice cube tray and pop out a cube and defrost overnight as needed. That's the easiest way to preserve flaxseed gel
