  • It’s Jigging Rap SZN! The ultimate reaction bite, and in my opinion one of the most satisfying (and efficient) ways to catch a walleye. Of course they bite it all year long...but things have gotten extra silly since water temps have dipped into the upper-50s.
    This video breaks down the locations I’m finding walleyes at right now in central MN, a rundown of my Jigging Rap setup and cadences for fall walleyes. Hope you enjoy!
    Drop a comment below and let me know what you think. 👊 Thx SO much for watching!

    I recently upgraded my boat batteries to lithium! Will try to do a walk-thru video soon....
    I went with Amped Outdoors' 36V 100Ah trolling motor lithium battery system (which is two 36V 50Ah LiFePO4 batteries in parallel). I was able to shave off roughly 70 pounds 😳 by running those 2 lithiums vs 3 lead batteries, and of course get some amazing run times:
    bit.ly/36V-100Ah-trolling-mot...
    Which also freed up an extra battery slot in my boat, so I was able to plug in this 100Ah beast (only weighs 24 lbs 8 oz) to exclusively run all of my electronics - fer dayzzzz 🔋 - instead of running them off of my cranking battery:

    Jigging raps catch everything. Fish. Nets. Fingers. Cords. Floors. Chairs. A jigging rap could hook god itself should it exist. By far the most dangerous lure I've ever fished with.

  • @bruceostermann8966

    I respectfully disagree on mono. I won't go back. I use a medium light with braid and feel I hook more fish with braid. I use different brands of glide baits for different drop rates. Yesterday they wanted Shadow raps.
    I don't feel I lose that many fish. The medium light rod is my shock absorber. Plastics on a heavy glide head can be killer too. Fished just the same.
    Great video!!!

      Most of the year it depends on the day and the mood of the fish, but definitely seem like waaaaay more get the right attitude once that water temp is in the mid-50s or so. Hope you have a great fall!

    Just picked up a St Croix Legend Tournament 7ft MF 5/16 -7/8 . I have been pretty much a Shimano guy Sustains and Stradics . Reading up on the Abu Revo Rocket has my interest . After watching you fish with your set up i wonder if you are satisfied with the Abu Rocket ? With the 7.6 to 1 gear ratio makes me suspect of the durability ? No one else makes a spinner that fast . Also a Japan version is available all black . I own several Vanfords from Japan they have the shallow spool not available in the US . Couldn't find much info on the Japan Rocket but seems it comes with shallow spool and a different handle . For jigging rap series typically not making very long cast so no need for a deep spool . Appreciate your thoughts , Thanks Don

    I got a shallow rubber net, four foot handle that we call The Wok, that i bought years ago, can't remember where or when. I can't find it online. But, it's perfect...and i have to keep an eye on it or I'm afraid I'll leave in Canada, it's perfect for caring fish up to the boat house for cleaning and might be left behind. I'll keep looking.

    Have you tried using Jigging Raps in a river system? I'd be interested to get your take on that. It seems we have so many trees and other things to snag on for them to be real productive around here.

    • @TargetWalleye
      @TargetWalleye  9 місяців тому

      I only fish rivers a handful of times a year, so far from an expert. I've caught some fish on Jigging Raps, but I've had way more success using Rippin' Raps. Jigging Raps are silent, it's more of a visual bite unless you're hovering it right in front of them. Rippin' Raps give off a ton of vibration and sound with their rattle chambers, so it's easier for fish to track them down in rivers and water that isn't as clear. Blade baits can also be REALLY good in river systems, especially in colder water.

      I definitely have days where they run from them. But then the next day they run TO them. I always play with it to try and read the mood of the fish because it's hard to pin down what kind of a day it is. But this time of year more and more seem to have the right kind of attitude. All that being said it's tough to beat a Ned Rig all year-round! 👊

    I just don’t understand how you and Boley catch fish that consistently on raps with water temps in the upper 50s, especially in shallow. They seem to not want anything to do with them once water temps get below 65 up here (Sask).
    I’ve tried and tried, but they don’t hit them anymore once it cools.

    • @xCruZChaos
      @xCruZChaos 9 місяців тому

      @@erics667 it is definitely more of a vertical bite here, but it’s pretty tough to fish raps vertically when the fish are shallow. You have to pitch to them at that point.
