Even though they keep comparing the Tremor to the Raptor for the price, the Tremor is a better deal for me personally. Being able to go on trails where the Raptor would be uncomfortable while still being able to haul a bed full of wood in the back is very appealing.
I just bought one of these Tremors nearly identical to the one Andre tested here. It really is an awesome truck! Glad to know it can handle the Ike Gauntlet in style. The most I'll be towing is my 3,500 lb. popup camper, so I'm golden!

What I've found out over the years is not always how much you are towing but how much you can stop with. Thanks for going over all the idiosyncrasies that many might not be aware of.
Yes that’s no kidding. Years ago I blew through a red light half way down a hill that changed in me and I was totally unable to stop and that was with 7,000 pounds in the bed on a 1 ton Chevy with good brakes and tires. While it easily hauled the weight it would not even come close to stopping for me so we started hauling less weight.
The old man needs to write a updated book. Rear great ratio has more to do with transmission gear spread than just a rule of thumb for performance . The 10 speed transmissions have changed the game.
I've been saying this for years. You can have a 3.55 or 4.10. With the 3.55 you can tow in 8th gear and have good mpg unloaded. The 4.10 you can tow in tenth but the mpg suffers unloaded.
I definitely would get this over a Raptor or TRX. Could still handle some trails, can carry a truck camper, and can pull my Jeep on a flatbed. Expensive, but still probably cheaper than my Denver apartment.
After twenty something years I got pretty good at backing right up with the ball right under the trailer hitch but it's nice being able to check the camera and be sure. Makes you wonder why they didn't have them decades ago. It's not like you need the highest resolution camera or screen.

Haha, the Tremor hauled the same load up the same mountain in the same time as the 702hp Ram TRX. It did that with a whole Ford 2.7tt LESS engine capacity at surprisingly low rpm in 6th gear !!
To be fair though this is a speed limited endeavor. Also fuel consumption appears to be greater Despite that lower capacity, and low rpm may not be beneficial even if it has power available.
@@tumbleweedking5668 And so did the Tremor, your comment is pointless, AS I SAID, the Tremor did it in the same time, used the same amount of fuel, BUT is only a 400hp engine, giving away a WHOLE EcoBoost 2.7 twin turbo engine's worth of displacement. Give this motor some REAL credit mate !!
Can you set it and forget it at the top of the Ike? Thought you guys were going to start running the Ike with cruise control enabled. I was looking forward to this, especially on the downhill, considering that most vehicles will auto downshift to control speed. I would like to see how capable the truck is in managing its speed through the transmission with the least amount of input from the driver. And no, coasting down the Ike hoping the transmission holds your speed isn't the same thing. If you do try this methodology, you'll have to adjust your break point for over-speed as most won't downshift until 5-7mph over the set point.
Agreed. Coasting downhill is a measure of gravity, wind resistance and internal friction. I don’t understand why they continue to count break applications. Even more an issue with a diesel with engine breaking.
because adaptive cruise equipped trucks use their brakes until they over heat and then suddenly shut off. it isn't coasting, its using the engine as an air pump to slow the combo. finally, you aren't supposed to tow with cruise control in teh mountains as stated in the manuals even in 2021.

I'm looking at using my Tremor to tow a travel trailer. What would be your recommendation on max tow weight and max tow length to safely tow and stop? TIA
3.5 EcoBoost, while generating a lot of power for the size of the engine is too small for truck applications. My 2019 F150 FX4 Lariat with Max Tow and the 3.5 EcoBoost has 47000 miles and is underperforming already on power and fuel economy which I attribute to early wear-out. Fuel economy is off a good 3mpg from what it got when new and when I tow it is working way harder than it used to. Of the 47000 miles, about 6000 miles are towing a 6000 lb travel trailer, the rest is about 70% highway, 30% city. I have been looking for a new F150 with the V8, but can't find them anywhere and Ford won't even let you do a build for order online with the V8 engine.
May consider the RAM and GM twins if you want a diesel 6 and or a v8 option (despite the cylinder deactivation) for a majority of trims. The 2022 GMC to me is equally equipped to the top trims of Ford and RAM minus panoroof.
If your truck is that far down on power and economy than it's broke and you should take it to a mechanic. I have the same year with 70k miles and I live in the mountains with no issues. I'm also a mechanic. What does your maintenance history look like?
The front end of that truck had me fooled.. I was thinking it was an F250 for a while until I got my brain straightened out,,, great looking machine !!
Andre, would you consider comparing both the regular "consumers" HD tructs and the commercial variants for this years gold hitch awards? The different power ratings has always boggled my mind. I am curious to find out if the commercial variants have less power and are less efficient/capable.
I like the Tremor. Looks like Chevy needs to just slightly up their Trailboss game without encroaching on the ZR2... Chevy needs to offer a front electric locker on the Trailboss along with 33's and a metal front skidplate that warps up the front bumper. And the Zr2 needs 35's standard... Just a thought. An optional supercharged engine on the ZR2 would make it perfect
TEAM two Questions for you- 1) Do you think the tremor will be a short run option or Permanent like FX4? 2) Why does Ford not push the Tremor brand aka as in swag or build a fan base? Thx guys!
F-150 Tremor is in it's 3rd year now. There's also the F-250 Tremor, Ranger Tremor and Maverick Tremor. All seem to be in high demand. I think it will be around for a while. There is a Tremor forum.
This kind of truck is too big for my area, I live in europe so I can't even buy one, I can't afford one, I don't have anything to tow, and never had. But I watch every Ike Gauntlet😝. My dailydriver is 1.0, 3 cyl. 155 bhp ecoboost engine😊
the tongue weight is only rated for 500 lbs or 1150 i believe with a WD hitch setup, could be why there is alot of squat, i have the same truck in 401a and a 7000# travel trailed thats 650 tongue weight and with the WD hitch truck is still amost level, although looks like you have spring bars on there?
@@TheJoncic I added the sumo springs that replace the bump stops, eliminated the porpoise effect with out changing the unloaded performance. Admittedly I don’t do serious off roading with it but it’s a tremor not a raptor. But your point is valid nonetheless
Mr. Truck said we need bigger mountains, that's exactly what I was thinking. The poor little Eisenhower grade just does not do it any more. Technology has officially conquered it.
Still think they should offer this Tremor in a SuperCab with 6.5 foot bed, it would be the same length as a SuperCrew & give people the option of of a non cylinder deactivated 5.0L V8 too?
Just dumped my 22 Tremor, lost my shirt big time. Where do I start, transmission issues, engine consuming coolant, distorted radio, grinding noise left front that could be felt in steering wheel, rattles from underneath, dealer never resolved issues. Truck cost me 78K out the door, I was able to get 40. 37K loss in less than a year of owning.
I agree. It’s because neither one of them try and talk over the other. Roman has a tendency to talk over everyone he’s with. I’ve meet Andre before, very nice down to earth guy. And Kent(Mr.Truck) would be awesome to have a beer with and talk trucks!
@@skigod9 dang, have you tried putting in manual and locking into a low gear to keep rpms a bit higher? Ecoboosts generate tons of heat when at full boost and low rpm. Tow haul may not be smart enough to kick down since there’s technically plenty of power. Also locking into one gear means the torque converter should lock up too so won’t allow heat to built in the transmission fluid.
Kent, the 3.73:1 rear axle will give you more engine breaking than the taller gears will, not less. That’s because for any given road speed, you will have more engine speed.
I love the tremor on that F-150 but for the 68k price tag I would absolutely go for the super duty diesel tremor, since you can’t get a hybrid F-150 tremor I would go all in for the towing and payload capabilities of a super duty for that price tag.
This is why I wish Ford kept making the F250 Tremor in the XLT level. But I’m guessing that’s why they stopped. It’s over $70k for a F250 Tremor with the diesel and a few options that compare with the $68k F150. But for a few thousand lots of people will compare them.
2nd! Just raggin' on Ryan. Good review, thanks. I'm not partial to the 3.5 Ecoboost, although it does have impressive torque. I question the long-term reliability. Andre makes a good point about value of the Tremor. If your primary concern is towing, why buy the Tremor? If it's off-road.. the Raptor? I just don't see a big pickup as the best choice of off-road vehicle.
Already have a short bed raptor for off-road. The tremor is axles and suspension. No frame modification. It wouldn’t cost them anything to add different configurations. 5.5 is pretty useless for anyone using it as a truck.
@@waled121 eh, the trucks massive already- why not be able to haul all the gear i take? also a 6.5 supercab option would be the same length as the current supercrew/5.5

If your truck is that far down on power and economy than it's broke and you should take it to a mechanic. I have the same year with 70k miles and I live in the mountains with no issues. I'm also a mechanic. What does your maintenance history look like?
@@mmholling87 Yeah he's either lying or there's a problem. Ecos are built strong and will last long time in trucks.
That’s a beautiful truck. If I bought an F-150 it would be a Tremor!
I want one with a 5.0!
The front end of that truck had me fooled..
I was thinking it was an F250 for a while until I got my brain straightened out,,, great looking machine !!
Looks ugly and copied gm truck. Regular f150 looks nothing like this
@@jacobstrutner8232 It literally has nothing in common with GM truck styling...
Andre, would you consider comparing both the regular "consumers" HD tructs and the commercial variants for this years gold hitch awards? The different power ratings has always boggled my mind. I am curious to find out if the commercial variants have less power and are less efficient/capable.
Great review with Andre and Mr Truck. Too bad the camera can't take Roman out of the view. Lol
I wanna see turbo temp when pulling with these.havent seen one yet
Can you all do the 2021 2.7L EB?
I quite like the Tremor, but the fake air vents annoy me. Killer item though, I won't consider it without the hybrid and the high power A.C. output.
Trust me. Most people in America that buy these trucks don’t have anything to tow either🤣
Don't know if you guys seen or not but the newest toyota video that just came out showed the new Tundra with air bags to level the loads out
Yesss been waiting for this one!!!
the tongue weight is only rated for 500 lbs or 1150 i believe with a WD hitch setup, could be why there is alot of squat, i have the same truck in 401a and a 7000# travel trailed thats 650 tongue weight and with the WD hitch truck is still amost level, although looks like you have spring bars on there?
Thanks for the review Mr truck and TFL. Hey ford I'll trade my 2018 F150 5.0L Fx4 for a tremor straight swap I'll test it out for ya long term.
Thanks
Given the 3” squat, would you recommend airbags or sumo springs?
That would stiffen your suspension which defeats the whole purpose of an off road truck
@@TheJoncic I added the sumo springs that replace the bump stops, eliminated the porpoise effect with out changing the unloaded performance. Admittedly I don’t do serious off roading with it but it’s a tremor not a raptor. But your point is valid nonetheless
Hello guys! Great video and information. In your opinion, could this truck be good to tow a camper/trailer up to 10,000 lbs?
Andre and Mr. Truck for the win! 😁
Thanks
thats the best looking ford i have ever seen what year is that?

Seems to me that andre and Mr truck have the most chemistry and keeps the videos interesting and informative it's almost like father son vibes lol
I agree. It’s because neither one of them try and talk over the other. Roman has a tendency to talk over everyone he’s with. I’ve meet Andre before, very nice down to earth guy. And Kent(Mr.Truck) would be awesome to have a beer with and talk trucks!
@@GreenMountain565 damn right you are would love to meet them all
@@kingshawn1857 Which one is the son?
@@MrTruckTV you are the son Andre is the all knowing father and king of the Ike gauntlet lol😂😂
@@kingshawn1857 OK, I think
BTBRV would say you're over capacity🤣🤣🤣
Only person that would have a trailer derated from its factory rating 😆
My 18 3.5 would never make that pull without overheating
Sounds like something might be wrong with it then.
@@ALMX5DP no one can find a problem only does it pulling up hill with boost. Lots of people are having the same problem
@@skigod9 my '15 3.5L did the same thing. Couldn't find why. Now I have 18 3.0L Powerstroke and no issues towing in the mountains.
@@ALMX5DP o yeah that was step one Iv done basically everything but try meth injection to lower iat
I'd rather have this with the Coyote and 6-1/2 ft. box......
Buy that then and modify to your liking.
I miss the reg cab tremor
Awesome video gents!
Thanks
A narrow affordable version of the svt raptor, manufacturers giving the customers more available choice of trims for our liking.
Safeweigh is a tongue weight hitch company. Has a built in scale. Might be good for your reviewing and testing
You think they’re not aware of those?
Kent, the 3.73:1 rear axle will give you more engine breaking than the taller gears will, not less. That’s because for any given road speed, you will have more engine speed.
Maybe a taller rearend gearing would allow downshifting to second gear at 50mph.
Please do the same test with the coyote 5.0L.
It would be interesting to see how the new 5.0 F-150 Tremor does relative to the Ecoboost model.
Squat is easily fixed with air bags
If it's off-road.. the Raptor? I just don't see a big pickup as the best choice of off-road vehicle.
actually proven to be quite reliable! Many "known" examples over 250k
@@mikecarmean1676 I'd really like to know how many of those examples were actual tow/working trucks.
I'm willing to bet less that 10%
@@Welcometofacsistube hard to say!
They should being back the 3.0 Powerstroke and make it available across the board in all trim levels
It would be much more entertaining if you put the new truck on the trailer instead! I just love fireworks!!
They need a 6.5 bed option. Make it something people can work out of and play with in the weekends
They already don't sell enough 6.5ft beds on regular F-150s. It would make no sense to put one on an off-road truck.
Already have a short bed raptor for off-road. The tremor is axles and suspension. No frame modification. It wouldn’t cost them anything to add different configurations. 5.5 is pretty useless for anyone using it as a truck.
You don’t want 6.5 for off roading.
@@waled121 eh, the trucks massive already- why not be able to haul all the gear i take? also a 6.5 supercab option would be the same length as the current supercrew/5.5
I agree; 5.5’ bed on a truck is like an suv without a cap.
I miss all the ike gauntlets,
Glad to see the real content coming back
Just gonna steal offtheranch’s intro song like that
Mr Truck is the man! Love the videos with him and Andre headed up the Ike.
