Their versions of “Havana”, “Cheerleader” and Sheeran’s “Perfect” are, in my opinion, much better than the originals.
Agreed. The groove in Havana hits way harder than the original. I don't know why, but I hated the song Cheerleader yet I love Pentatonix's version.

Just to clarify something since I didn't see it mentioned, this song isn't just a cover of Dua Lipa's "New Rules" - it's actually a mashup of "New Rules" and "Are You That Somebody?" by Aaliyah.

Don't think I've heard a cover they've done that I've not liked their version better than the original. I agree no one can replace Avi, but Matt is great and I love the energy he brings to the group.
I think one of the only ones where the original is still better for me, albeit not by very much, is Bohemian Rhapsody. Queen had something special, but Pentatonix and Panic! at the Disco are really the only covers I've heard that I think are very nearly as good as the original.

And you haven't even heard an original yet! PTX is awesome. You should also check out aha from the Starr Vista Singapore (and before you ask yes Kevin is there you just don't see him). Also check out the medlies from Superfruit (Scott and Mitch side project and Kevin Olusola's cover of Down.
If you really want to get a good “look” at Matt’s voice I would say listen to their cover of “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” he’s the lead singer in that one! And Scott does an awesome job at the lower background vocals too!
Loved the reaction! Made me think of another one of theirs you absolutely should do where Scott's the lead - Waving Through a Window. Not the same style as this one at all, but I think his vocals are even more powerful than in this one.

The bell tones are what really make this background so much fun. Their mashups are always so spot on you can barely tell there are two different songs in there. There entire first album with Matt is great. Top Pop is the title of the album and it's great.

About Matt.. I needed some time to get used to him ( and he to the group , I think ) , but he's doing great !! His tone is different than Avi's ( but still great )
and I think it's very hard for him to sing Avi's parts , but the new song his voice blends perfect with the group ( like in "Sound of Silence")

Richtsje De Goede First I would like to say sorry because my comment sounded a little rude. I also meant get over missing Avi he was an amazing bass but him being in pentatonix wasn’t right for him. Now he has amazing solo stuff that I highly recommend. I feel really bad for Matt when people say stuff like that. It must have been really hard for him to come in and have people hating on him saying he will never be like Avi. I don’t think Matt wants to be Avi he wants to be Matt. Pentatonix chose Matt because they thought he was a good fit for the group if they didn’t he wouldn’t be here.

Another fun, very recent video- 'Pentatonix 100 songs in 10 minutes'. It's a game/challenge they did on another youtube channel. It's impressive how quickly they fall into harmonies.

I really felt like this was the first time I saw the "new" PTX in their new configuration with Matt. It has seemed to me they kind of went back to their beginning to start incorporating Matt and grow together again as a group. I think they are working on originals again now, and I can't wait. These folks are all talented, yes, but more than that, they are smart and work together as a group - their hearts are why they are more than just the sum of their members

Your dancing was so cute!! I'm glad you are really enjoying Pentatonix. They really are an amazing group. And Matt is such a wonderful addition to their team. He's crazy talented, has a really good spirit, and just an all around great person from what I can tell.

Ok, so I found you for the first time today. I love the channel. I want to say that I appreciate the content and really appreciate the fact that you take a liking to pure vocalist music, because lots of people don't like exploring into the vast realm of music. I want to say thanks that you read your comments and I am hoping you take a look at this one too. I know how much you like Avi and the newer bass singer in the Pentatonix group, and I know you posted one video by this group after looking just a second ago, but "VoicePlay" is a group very similar to Pentatonix who also create some great renditions of already popular songs. The song you chose to do by them is pretty good and definitely shows some of the extent of their skills, but I feel that there are songs by them that really hit better to the heart like "Hallelujah" and "Daft Punk" did for you. I would like to suggest "Can't Help Falling in Love" by them because it is just amazing and in my opinion might be there best song. Also just as an additional piece of information for you to know about them, the bass singer writes and organizes all of their renditions to the normal songs, so that is very interesting. He has his own video about the process he goes through every time he recreates a song. So ya, I guess it would be very cool to have and hear your comments on "Can't Help Falling in Love" by "VoicePlay." Thanks! (As a final side note, Pentatonix's "Cheerleader" is also amazing.)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you missed one of the amazing things about this song and that's it's a mash up of two completely different songs "new rules" and "are you that somebody" which is what Pentatonix does all the time. I'm only assuming this because neither in the title of your video or during the video did you mention this. Either way, great reaction!

I honestly really think most people overlook Scott but he is my personal favorite of the group (although I really love them all so much!) I often feel like he doesn't get a lot of appreciation that he deserves like the others. You should check out some of his stuff like Wake Me Up, All To Me, Lose Us, Lost On You, and I Should Tell Ya Mama! Its all amazing, as well as all Pentatonix stuff and all their solo projects!!
Jace's head has been spinning from their covers... Should we mention the mind blowing "evolution of" medleys? Maybe not yet. 😂

You realize this is a hybrid/mashup of 2 different songs! This is why Pentatonix is in a class of their own among performers...to be able to cover a song is one thing to be able to cover two songs and make it sound like an original is A...R...T! They ARE phenomenal!

Pentatonix truly has something for everyone. Their music just hits so powerfully and elicits raw emotion.

I have been watching PTX since the beginning and it is truly a pleasure watching people become pentaholics as they experience all the awesome. You have still only scratched the surface. You should pick one or two of their "Evolution of" videos and also some live stuff. Practically anything you choose is amazing though. Keep it up and we are here for it! Also don't sleep on Superfruit (Scott and Mitch's project) or Kevin's solo stuff. Actually any of their solo endeavors are worth a watch!

yeah, that " random backround" in their musik is something else! here you can hear how awesomely and cleverly is the way they build their music, every small detail has right place and timing, and beatbox and bass shows their importance here in non instrumental music too. 😊

They're super at covering songs, but "Love Again" is a Pentatonix original, and written to really show off their strengths, I feel like.
And it's an amazing song!!
I love watching you fall in love with PTX the way I did when I discovered their first holiday album. Beyond having spectacular voices, the style evolution of them as individuals has been cool to watch. Mitch, especially. He lost a bunch of weight after their that first holiday albumn and he has been a fashion chameleon/icon ever since. If you want to catch more of him behind the scenes, he and Scott were roommates (not boyfriends) for a few years and did a UA-cam series and recorded some music as SUPERFRUIT. Worth checking them out.
Welcome fellow Pentaholic! You've only just scratched the surface of their bad-assery XD Highly recommend their covers of Imagine by John Lennon (all the feels) and Gold Kiiara for some Mitch craziness.
Also since there's been some talk about Kevin's singing, check out his solo stuff! He also plays multiple instruments and is a genius with using a looper to make wicked tracks on the spot. Most notable are Down (Marion Hill cover) and Sign of the Times (Harry Stiles cover).

Just to give you another recommendation from a major Pentaholic (been watching them since their Sing Off days!) check out "Sing." It's one of their originals and is such a FUN song to jam to! Plus, you get a better listen to Kevin's voice. Glad you are falling in love with PTX!

If you want to watch them live and low-production, but higher quality than a concert video, I recommend 'dancing on my own' and 'gold'. Both songs showcase their harmonies and how tight they are as a group.

I hadn't realized it until you asked if they were really human or just Daft Punk characters (even though I've seen the Daft Punk videos), but I think that a cartoon version of Pentatonix has the potential to be very popular! They also wouldn't be the first popular singing group to have a cartoon. I used to watch reruns of The Jackson 5 (1971-73) cartoon. New Kids on the Block had a cartoon from 1990-91. To top it off, The Beatles had a cartoon from 1965 to 1967. There are enough Pentaholics worldwide to make a cartoon super popular. 😉

Not PTX related but a suggestion for the World Tour: Rammenstein, German metal/rock band. The songs I like the most are "Du Hast" and "Ich Will". Always surprise my friends when their music pops up on my playlist haha.
The reason you took your headphones off it that there are three people singing that "Dummmm". In the live video you can see that Scott joins them in it for a split second.
I'm surprised no one really told you of this one: "You're a mean one, Mr Grinch" shows one of the most playful sides of PTX and Matt KILLS IT

My two PTX recommendations are one original and one from the competition show that launched them. My favorite original is "On My Way Home", favorite from the Sing Off is "Love Lockdown". Shows they are amazing from the very beginning and incredibly talented artists, not just with covers.
