    As a trained chef I have to say that there is nothing wrong with frozen veggies. They actually have more nutritional value due to the shock frosting process. The veggies are harvested and then immediately shock frosted. Meanwhile the fresh veggies go under the process of having to be transported to the grocery stores leaving them exposed to air, sun and, the most important factor, time. This makes the fresh veggies lose a lot of important nutrients.

      Thank you ! I heard other trainers and nutritionnists say that frozen veggies are actually much healthier that we may think :)

      I've been wondering about this I've switched between frozen and "fresh" for some time I'd like to get the most nutrition out of the veggies I choose, I have trouble with the frozen veggies being quite mushy after the cooking process, is there a way to get them to not be so mushy? Would it be defrosting them first?

    • @Crescentedgirl
      @Crescentedgirl Рік тому +1

      @@harleydavidson3182 yes, wait till they are defrosted because if you cook them while frozen, you are melting the ice at the same time, thus leading to that mushiness

    i mean he definitely tried. but that being said, I set a $100 limit per week for groceries and I've picked up a few tips that might help people: buy sides that you know you can pair with multiple mains (ex. wild rice pairs well with shrimp, steak, chicken, veggie stirfry, etc.), buy mains in bulk and freeze half for the following week (ex. 6 pack of chicken thighs for 2 people, so you'd freeze say 2-3 of them for the following week, and use 3-4 of them for 2 meals, maybe diced in a chicken stirfry or shredded in a chicken soup), buy grains in bulk (ex. oats, rice, barley, lentils, etc.), don't drink your calories, only purchase the amount of fruit and vegetables you know you can get through in a week OR freeze before they spoil, save your scraps for chicken stock and use that stock to season things like pasta sauces. basically... buy what you need in small quantities, buy in bulk when it's smart to do so, freeze what you can, stick to portions, and remember that things can be used in a variety of ways. for instance, i got mushrooms recently to add to stew, but i saved a good bit of them to add to some ramen too.

      @@mikem4481 $400 for two people and a dog per month? In America? That’s cheap. Especially considering how much I actually get for that money. But everyone’s needs and budgets are different, so my cost has NOTHING to do with you or anyone else-it’s just there for comparison in case it helps people.

    Hey Magnus,
    Ever since I discovered your channel, I've been devouring your videos. I know you brought up the ethical and moral reasons that you make for usually buying expensive tuna. I love it. We need more conservation and mindful purchasing in our culture. That being said, you should look into getting some reusable produce bags for all your loose vegetables and fruits. You can usually find them pretty cheap, made out of either compostable or recyclable materials. It can go a long way to lessening the harm of manufacturing and using plastics on the environment. Keep up the awesome videos. Would love to see you do some videos for vegetarian diets!
    Take care, man.

I am also curious about the lack of fruit (except lemons) in your shopping. Was that to keep it in budget? Or, do you not like fruit, possibly because it has a lot of sugar? Such helpful information but I have one question. Do you not eat any fruit?

    This is great. Massive props for being an unproblematic unclassist king. Especially with the meat knowing many can’t afford to buy might want to get the more ethical option. Thank you for this

      @@joannecoates5917Eating plant based is more ethical than being omnivorous because you care about animals by not eating them because you feel that they dont deserve to die for your taste buds . I recommand you watching Earthling Ed channel its really interesting. Also the documentaries Seaspiracy, Cowspiracy and Game Changers.
