Clean Keto on a Budget - ALDI Grocery Haul - Thomas DeLauer
All right, it's Aldi time. Now I'm in California, so Aldis aren't crazy popular here but this has been a popular, popular request, people that are watching my videos. We're going to do a little keto grocery haul here at Aldi.
Now Aldi does have some clean options so it will be interesting. Hopefully we can do a nice clean keto on a budget. All about trying to save a couple bucks, if we can get out of here for $150.00 for a week, that would be awesome. That's going to be the goal, let's see what happens. Let's head on in, hopefully we don't get kicked out like we have a bad habit of having happen to us.
So we've got aged Parmesan cheese, we've got cheese cultures, salt and jalapeno. That's actually pretty darn clean Parmesan crisp.
A little bit pricey, $2.89, but you still need some snacks now and then, so let's go ahead and grab those just so we've got something.
Peanuts, although technically fit into a keto profile, they're technically a legume, not a nut, so not the biggest fan of having them, so a little bit higher carb content than I usually like.
Six grams of carbs, two grams of fiber, not going to hurt you. If you're on a serious budget, then yeah, that will work well, but I'm going to stay away from those.
Fresh veggies are always nice. When you're on a budget, frozen really works well simply because frozen honestly, it's flash frozen, so you're preserving a lot of the nutrients, so you're pretty solid there.
Kombucha, kombucha can be tricky. See we still have a lot of carbs in kombucha. Six grams of carbs but servings per container two.
Twelve grams of carbs, you're a third of the way through your carb content for the day so just be careful there. Now we're talking. This is the kind of stuff that I dig. All right, we've got good quality kimchi.
Goat cheese is generally an A2 casein protein which means it doesn't have what's called BCM7 in it. I'm not going to go into exquisite detail, but basically it doesn't have the caseinates that cause an opioid reflux within your body, so you don't get that addiction that you get to normal cheese, but also, just much easier on the system, so goat cheese whenever you possibly can.
Wild caught salmon is always best, but you don't usually find wild caught in a smoked form just because it usually is farmed in some ways.
This was raised in Norway which has different standards than the U.S. When the U.S. has farm salmon, it's a big issue. Norway has pretty good standards. I happen to know that Norway is actually really solid with that.
Atlantic salmon, salt, sodium lactate and beechwood smoked. Sodium lactate isn't a huge deal. That still is for all intents and purposes pretty naturally derived. This stuff is really good. Really good quality fat.
Obviously get your nice omega-3 profile. Even though it's technically raised in Norway and it's technically probably farmed, it's still going to have a nice omega-3 omega-6 ratio so I'll go ahead and get that because that is a really good price.
We do have some bison. That is not that cheap, but it's a good price for bison. We're talking $7.99 a pound is good. That's like right in the world of Costco prices.
Bison is FDA regulated, so it cannot be eating grain. It has to be fed on pasture. Pasture-raised is the way we want to go, but also pasture-finished, and bison is going to have that.
Don't hate on me for spending $15.00 or $16.00 on getting a couple things of bison right now because this is really, a little bit is going to go a long way.
Veggies are actually great to get frozen. I mentioned it earlier, but they're flash frozen. Every time you harvest a vegetable and it goes onto the truck it's oxidizing. It's oxidizing and it's denaturing while it's on the truck.
Baking cocoa. Just 100% cocoa. Again, not organic in this case, but it's $1.95. I'll mix this with almond milk, add a little bit of stevia, and make a delicious little treat that I could sip on. Perfect thing to have before bed, just hanging out after having some dinner, watching a little bit of TV with the family.
It's a great little thing to have, so ... Cocoa is awesome. Don't think that it all has to have sugar in it. Just get it from the baking aisle, and if they were to have actual cocoa chocolate, chocolate bars, like baking chocolate, I would have grabbed some of that too. Just going to grab some heavy cream and we'll be out of here.
As always, please keep it locked in here on my channel and if you want more of these videos, I need you to comment down below and say what kind of grocery store you want me to go to. I don't have Kroger's on the West Coast so maybe I'll fly somewhere to do a Kroger's.

I know you whole heartedly look to help the people that follow you… something you need to look at that you mentioned in your video. Both for Your Family and Your Followers.
Please check out “Worlds most Toxic Salmon”
🇳🇴 Norway and nearby countries out law the sale of certain fish from the Baltic Sea because they are so Toxic (waste from 2 World Wars and The Industrial Revolution dumping into a stagnant sea) But the Law only bands the sale to Humans for Human Consumption. So those Very Toxic fish are use to make feed and are then feed to their salmon…. That makes it a Man Made /assisted Biological Multiplier. Very bad. To make it worse they Add a Fat Stabilizer made by Monsanto to the feed that makes the situation even worse.
You got almond milk over regular milk, why?
Merci, j'ai hâte de débuter. Cette nouvelle expérience. ( Paris, France)
Thank you thank you thank you 😊
Thomas... Please spread the message that buying wild caught fish contributes heavily to overfishing, plastic fishing waste, death of dolphins, whales, sharks and other sea life through bycatch, and other destructive effects on the ocean ecosystems. There is an argument to be made that farm raised fish is better; not healthier so maybe the answer is consume less! Those of us who are trying to be responsible about our bodies need to be respectful of the animals we consume and ultimately respectful of the ecosystems that sustain our species.
The real reason Aldi’s does the quarter thing is to minimize cart damage to cars on the parking lot and to cut down on cart retrieval time which helps keep prices low. It’s a very good thing.
Yup! Their parking lots are usually very small and a cart would probably hit multiple cars if left out on a windy day. Lol.
Conway Cat and I believe you get the quarter back afterwards correct
Yup when you put the cart back you get the quarter back
In Germany (where Aldi is from) every company has had this mechanism for ages to a point where people stopped thinking about it. (Common belief is those mechanisms prevent others from stealing the carts.) Children grow up, learning to always carry a coin (50 cent and 1 euro usually fit) and bring the cart back after shopping.
Recently, some companies started testing carts that do not require a coin anymore (so people could actually leave them in the parking lot), but everyone still brings their cart back naturally.
In Germany we actually have tokens for the carts in just about every jacket pocket. I use old French and Irish coins (from the pre-Euro days). All kind of stores offer the tokens as a free gift on occasion. The stealing of the carts used to be a huge thing especially in the bigger cities. Which was an annoyance for the store and for the city that had to deal with the abandoned carts.
The whole shopping experience, the carts with the coins, no baggers, bring your own bags or add them to your cart etc is how every store in Europe is.
Aldi's originated in Europe
@@samuelsmith2317 Germany. The owner is one of the riches in Germany
Here in Germany due to COVID no more coin carts starting 2021. 😷
Now people leave their carts in the parking lot, US style. 😄
@@brassbando wow you guys really went all in on the covid hysteria over there... There's literally nothing removing the coin slot would do to stop the spread
@@brassbando they did this here in NJ too I hated it but they are back to business.
watching 3 years later can't even imagine how much more expensive this run would be now!!
Yea, aldi still is a good bang for your buck
As of yesterday prices are still better
@@mycatsballs8195 I agree 100% Aldi's is so Keto friendly and at a good price. It's all relevant, prices have gone up everywhere.
@@mycatsballs8195 Aldi's is great. For $65 I get a few bags (chicken/fruits/lettuce/eggs/Coconut milk/Greek yogurt/Eggs etc) compared to stop n shop $120 gets you 1 bag, if you're lucky.
I was just there today. These prices really haven’t changed much. They even have pasture raised eggs. Or should I say , pseudo- pasture raised eggs. Still the cheapest I’ve found around.
the goat cheese is only a dollar more I'm new york
For those who shopped Aldis 20 years ago when everything there was unhealthy, THINGS HAVE CHANGED! They have so many great options now and the best prices anywhere!
Yes! I remember the piles of rotting produce in every store 🤢
I was just thinking about the .50 bag of ham and roast beef they used to have. My family used to stock up on those, there’s no way they were healthy lol. Those, instant potatoes, ramen noodles, Salisbury steaks, and potpies. Now they have so many good things. I remember hearing on the news that they wanted to go more organic like 5-6 years ago. I remember thinking “there goes the cheap prices”. lol
Shout out to Aldi for allowing you to record this! 😁
I recorded in Aldi's and they didn't care. Other stores are a whole different story though. Secret, hide iphone and whisper into it!
Its good publicity for the store, dont know why more stores wouldnt welcome this.
@@gingclausen I agree. odd!
The employees at my Aldi‘s in Lake Zurich Illinois are the kindest hard-working people I’ve ever experienced. I always look forward to shopping there!😎
They usually only have three people in the store, one being the cashier...too busy maintaining store for time to kick people out lol
You’ll appreciate the quarter thing after awhile. It means NO car spots taken by carts .
And no dents in your car from random carts rolling around... and lower food prices since they don't need people to constantly bring carts back in...
Also the carts don't disappear from the store AND you'll get the quarter back.
Really surprised this is a thing. It's commonplace in Europe for the reasons listed! You can get key rings here with quarter sized trolley tokens.
You can use the head of a round key 🔑
@@jbrennan9929 That's awesome and interesting to know! A previous comment mention her quarter keeper keychain and I was stumped.
I just found your channel after watching Dr. Burg. I was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at 43. I suffered a spinal cord injury 2 years ago and have been pretty inactive since. I’ve always been a fat guy, but I was on the way to getting into shape before my accident. I couldn’t walk for almost a year. I’m still recovering but I’m finally able to do low impact exercises. I just joined the YMCA so I could start using the pool for exercising. The doctor has me on all kinds of medications that I don’t want to be on for the rest of my life. So this is the start of my plan to get off them. Keto, IF and exercise. I know I can do this. Wish me luck. I’m so glad I found your channel!!
I just started Keto a couple of weeks ago. It's getting easier but... I learned a lot from this video about extra ingredients and comparisons. Thanks for doing this, Thomas. I know it's over 2 years old but the info is good. I'll be watching more.
He's a product pimp! Simply eat more fatty foods. Keto for 3 or 4 months to get you metabolicly adaptive. Don't do it long term and don't fall for all the useless crap he sells.
Same, keto has been great so far but kinda difficult with shopping, this helped me a ton
How you doing now?
wow didnt even realize i sat through 40 mins of a grocery haul video. this what happens when it's good content! thanks for these videos
Me too.... preparing my 2021 new year new me.... yay!!!
I agree! Had no idea 40 minutes had gone by. Great videos. So informative.
Thank you
WOW, I didn’t realize it was 40mins either. I was truly intrigued and tuned in
Love you advise on healthy eating, I’ve been a vigilant healthy eater for most of my life got married and my husband is the worst when it comes to healthy eating and these videos help me educate him and motivate him to change his eating habits because I feel that when I tell him he just don’t think I know what I’m saying so thank you thank you. Can you can do a video on Ollies unless you already did. Thank you
Fuck Keto. After a week I said fuck this shit!
Aldi loyalist here! They were smart for letting you finish, you served Aldi and their customers well with that mega-drop of knowledge!
They listen to their customers, and the 2.4million+ eyes on this probably just picked them up some more. 🙏
Yep! I haven't been in a long time.... Was shocked to see so many good options there. Think I will visit soon!
I didn’t go to Aldi for years and this video took me back.
One thing I appreciate about Aldi is the quarter for a cart thing. I feel like this makes it so shopping carts don't end up in the side of your car. And honestly I never in a million years thought frozen veggies were good options. I'm definitely going to focus on that now.
I realize this is three years old, but I just started keto a couple of weeks ago, and this popped up in my feed. Thank you for these clean keto shopping videos. You really helped me a lot. Liked and subscribed!!
Right after saying, “ in the past you might have grabbed the sweetened almond milk by mistake”, he grabbed the sweetened almond milk by mistake! 😂🤣
just by looking at the 90 calories per serving stamp he should have realized it has extra sugar, he even looked at the label too lol
@@angb8182 I was wondering did anyone else notice that as well. " HEY, the milk taste good this morning."
Yup, he picked the wrong one 🤣
Ok I thought I saw wrong! 🤣
i came here for this hahahah whoops
It would be amazing if you did a weekly haul like this and then followed it with a meal prep video of everything you bought.
Exactly what I was thinking! Excellent idea. Because I have no idea except for the one "meal" he mentioned how to match all that up with meals that makes sense.
Yes!! I want to learn more about portion sizes on keto.?
@@alixwooten7988 Thats because he swung through Taco Bell after the video
Good idea, I'm new to it and trying to learn some tasty recipes.
Ive shopped at Aldis since I was a child. Im 35 now. They really are doing a good job at providing healthier options for less money. I especially like their produce and meat. 80% of my monthly grocery shopping is done at Aldis.
Time to do a new Aldi haul! So much has changed there in the last couple years.
For anyone who doesn't know: grab empty boxes off the shelves! The employees don't mind, and its a great alternative to paying for bags. Do it everytime and no one gives me a second look.
They actually like you to take the boxes because then they don't have to break them down. My Aldi locations have a cage they toss them into for customers to take.
Yeah I worked there for a while it makes it easier bc we keep the aisles looking nice by taking products out of the half empty boxes and just stacking the product on full boxes. So less work
Almost every European store has cardboard or wooden boxes for you at the entrance (or if you ask).
Also, in Europe, small plastic bags are banned, so everyone goes shoping with backpacks, boxes, or large reusable bags.
If you can't afford cheap bags, no way can you afford this diet.
@Seby PT he is right, dont know for whole europe but here in belgium we dont get small bags anymore. you take your own re-usable bags or buy one at the store
Thomas, as a person who shops at Aldi's regularly you have helped me tremendously
That is tremendously great
I appreciate this because I have a problem with a repetitive diet in order to maintain keto because I have a busy schedule and prepare meals for the whole week. This will provide me with some great variety. One thing I would like to suggest though for greens is dandelion greens if you can find them?
@@thatcarguy1UZ The backyard?
B Bodziak You can if you have enough in the back yard and if you don’t spray weed killer on your lawn. They are loaded with vitamins and iron.
Loved seeing your excitement every time you found something you didn’t expect. It made me smile to hear you say “whoa!” It’s fun to experience a new store and make discoveries instead of same old-same old shopping on automatic like a zombie.
@denise Logan I had the same reaction. It was funny and sweet at the same time.
I'm watching this four years later and i'm loving it he is so cute.! I'm a single mom of 2 teenage boys. So I have to shop at Aldi... So glad they still have so many clean optikns
I've never been in an Aldi's, real impressed that they make a point of stocking the healthiest options.
He’s like a walking food encyclopedia
I like watching him...but I would not want to have all of his knowledge. Or i wouldnt know what the hell to buy...there are very few items that he thinks are truely suitable to consume
Your nerdiness for food ACTUALLY makes me happy.
Buy Italian sardines, they are in olive oil. Also you can make fish patties with them. So simple, crushed Porkrinds, 1egg, seasoning. Mash it all up and form into patties. Fry or air fry !! Yum!!!
where do you find Italian sardines?
Love your videos! This is very helpful because I'm shopping at Aldi this weekend. For future shopping trips, don't forget to start with your non-perishables first & get your perishables last, so that they stay cold & fresh until you get home.😊👍🏽
The quarter is just to make sure the the cart get returned. My wife and I shop at Aldi all the time.
Just so you're aware: Trader Joe's is actually owned by Aldi! Aldi's US headquarters are in Batavia, IL. Just a five minute drive from Fermi Lab (an high security Particle Accelerator - I grew up near there). They're a German owned company that when they first came to the US they were a low quality, high "stock up" type store. They've have made HUGE leaps in quality, healthy choices and they do not allow any High Fructose Corn Syrup in any of their branded products.
They're entire "Never Any" line of meats and produce is AMAZING!
What really turned the tables for them was bringing in Trader Joe's. That allowed Aldi foods to have more "clout" to be able to bring more healthy choices to their original Aldi stores as well.
Aldi really can make a HUGE difference for budget conscious and healthy choices minded families.
Bravo for bringing us that Clean Keto Haul from Aldi!
JussyRaven2 without the Trader Joe things it is the same over here in the Netherlands. When I was young they just had a few things, none known brands, just their own. Now they grown, have clothing and other stuff, but also brand products are getting more common now.
Even in Germany they made that huge leap in quality. Aldi used to be the super budget market where you basically "get the quality you pay for" but nowadays their fresh and frozen fruit, veggies, meat are really good. You obviously still have to check, since there is always cheaper junk around but the options got a lot better now.
Actually, there are two different Aldi's, Aldi North and Aldi South. They also have a slightly different logo. Trader Joe's is Aldi North in the United States while Aldi South is Aldi.
It used to be one company but in 1961 the two brothers that inherited it from their father decided to seperate it because they couldn't agree on how to run the company.
Wow didnt know that thnx 4 info
im from Illinois but i did not know they were based out there, guess that explains why i see an Aldi when i drive every 5mins lol
Thanks for another great video!
Did you realize during the editing that the organic Greek yogurt was on the top shelf? 😂🤦♂️
I also like to get my organic peanut butter/ coconut oil, avocado, tomatoes, fresh/ frozen fruit.
I love to go to ALDI first get my grocery list and then go to one of the other stores to get anything that's left.
So glad to see that "discount stores" are offering a wider inventory as far as clean items, I'm glad of that so that I can save money and don't have to make 2 or 3 stops to get what I need for the week. I love being surprised when I find an item I didn't know they carried.
I use to be a only shop the perimeter person, but this has shown that the isles actually might be worth walking.
I would love to see a Keto meal menu plan for the week based on this Aldi grocery haul.
Rebecca Falcon definitely
Rebecca Falcon me too. The foods are random. dudes probably never been to Kmart either.

Cook the beef, steam the brokkoli or just eat some Salad
Right. What kinda meal you making with guacamole, ground beef, prosciutto, etc. lol
I was going to say, it would be nice if he had showed meal plans too
@@apophispnw5717 Well, when most of us shop, we also already have a bunch of stuff at home -- pantry staples and some food in the freezer -- that you'd combine with your newly bought groceries into a meal. But otherwise, yes, it's better to shop with a few specific meals in mind for breakfast, lunch, supper and snacks so you buy ingredients that you might be able to use for more than one meal.
Thank you so much for this! It’s a lot easier to just watch you go through it then to memorize all the ingredients and get there and forget about something. So much more helpful!!
I absolutely LOVED this episode!
I LEARNED so much!

The Quarter is so people will put the carts back. You get your quarter back.
Right, is it not common in the US? In my country every supermarket has these. and it even costs more than a dollar, about 1.25$
@@I--May--I I'm from Ohio and the only pay for cart store we have is Aldi. I think it would be a great idea for every store to do this, but the other way gives teenagers a job. Teens need to have a job. I think it is a good way to teach responsibility, how to save money, etc..
That way they dont need a cart runner and save on employing
That's why Aldi is cheaper. Less employees needed😅
@@I--May--I In the US is not common at all. In fact, in most of the groceries, you'll find carts everywhere in the parking and in random areas. Europe is more organized from this point of view. :)
Lol, generally in Europe you have to put a coin in the trolley, Aldi follows its European model
Chan Ding genau!
Chan Ding I‘m from Germany myself and I didn’t even know there were any stores that don’t require you to put in a coin as a „deposit“. That’s just the way it is and I think it makes perfect sense. I never even thought about it until Thomas mentioned it. 😂
But you get it back when you return the shopping cart.
@@Gabriel-of-UA-cam Yeah obviously as it's only a deposit so you don't just leave it next to your car but actually bring it back. If there was no money of yours in there you might be tempted to just leave it somewhere on the other side of the parking lot and even though its only a small amount of money this way people will surely think twice before doing that
@603spikem Yeah exactly. That's why I was wondering that this wasn't a thing in the US as well.
In the last week I’ve watched over a dozen of your videos for keto dieting, intermittent fasting, and the Mediterranean keto diet which is the one that I’m going to opt to use with intermittent fasting! I love all your videos. They’re very detailed concise informative and educational. I shop at Aldi for a lot of things. The first time I went there I didn’t have a quarter I was trying to get the carts out! Lol. Now I keep some in my ashtray in my car. But you’ve taught me to really look at the components and ingredients of the foods and what to watch out for. Thank you!
I am probably out of the loop, but i just recently learned about "grass finished" and you were talking about this THREE YEARS AGO! So I am subscribing and following you on my health journey!! Thank you Thomas!!!
You can take the boxes at ALDI, that is why there are bins of them throughout the store.
Good to know. Thanks!😁
That’s definitely not why they have boxing carts out on the floor, but it is convenient for customers and saves us some more room in the baler when customers take them home
If I need one, I usually empty the items into another half full box and stock it for the box...if the box carts aren't around.
@@lisa32469 this. Avacado or apple box usually the best balance between strength and compactness.
danewells ... that's all very well if you have a vehicle to put them in... I have to use a bus OR fork out for a taxi...!
Some people look at Aldi like the supermarket for the poor. Actually I love the quality and the warranty! I save and I can get good clean food in there. Whatever I don't find, I go to another store but this is my first option always. The one by my neighborhood has the most friendly staff ever too! :) Thanks for the video...I really enjoyed it!
I love shopping there my husband loves Walmart better because he said his more variety. That I just like Aldi's a lot better and another thing that makes Aldis lot easier to shop at is they move stuff as much as Walmart does if you're half-blind that's not good because I I like to shop where I know where everything is when I go into Walmart one month Juice might be in when I'll in the next month it will be moved to another aisle I hate that it takes me 2 hours to shop because of that I can go in down all these find what I need within 30 minutes and be out
I thought that, too, until I tasted their food. Unfortunately, that was when I was eating bread. But I have convinced many people to give it a chance. Aldi's is doing a great thing for Americans. We're getting better food for less.
Aldi isn't for the poor, it's for smart shoppers! Save money on groceries, so you have money to spend on other things!
@@nikkiwilliams4676 but this does help people who are living in poverty he may not be for poor people but it sure does help us who are poor.
@@janicerigsbee1767 I know that. Just not ONLY for people in poverty.
Thank you for a to the point accurate keto shop. Appreciate your brief explanation on nutrition. And pointing out the marketing misnomers on some products.
It's so generous of you to take the time to explain and educate folks about nutrition.❤
25:32: But he ended up grabbing the Sweetened Almond Milk hahaha
Noticed that as well. It's just that easy!
Daniel Stellwag lol I saw that
And just before that he put the eggs back to the wrong place :D
"It's so easy to miss it and get the sweetened kind"
*misses it and gets the sweetened kind
I've done that a couple times when "Original" means sweetened lol
This is my first time watching, I can’t tell you how happy I am that you did a “discount store “ shopping. People always think if they can’t get the most expensive, high end, they are missing out and can’t be successful. Thanks for the education and making clean eating accessible for any income!
This was very informative, thank you! I'm getting ready to start my Keto journey and Aldi is my favorite store - this is a win win. Great video!
These grocery hauls are great! I like checking labels in the store, and this video really taught me good things! Love the halo sound when you found the other nuts. :')
The only reason you put a quarter to get your cart ,is that you will put the cart where it should be parked.simple but effective 👍🏻
Manouchehr Kabirizade German Engineering
Samuel Schehrer indeed, but I must tell you most supermarkets in England have the same system.
The same system in all France. Maybe it is generalized in Europe? I was even surprised that it seems to be an exception in usa
@@bp4680 I think it's generalized, funny enough Lidl didn't have it when they first came to Finland, but we have had it at least since the early 90's, perhaps earlier.
Welcome to Europe we've been doing that since the 80s
"I'm gonna grab this almond milk unsweetened"
*grabs the sweetened one*
I was seeing if anyone else caught this!
I noticed that, too!
The only thing that bothered me more than this was the guy in the grey shirt lurking in the back the whole video lol
Like he said, really easy to grab the wrong one hahahaha.
🤣
What amazing information you give. There are a couple of others I've seen...being in the diabetic community, your information is awesome. And so so appreciate. Thank you.
The .25 for a cart is a fantastic idea. Very common in Germany.
FYI -at aldi's you get your quarter back when you return your cart. I usually offer my cart to someone who has just arrived.
Same
Yeah i give the cart to someone else.feels good
around here the bums have figured that out. Some days there are lines of them waiting to return your cart for you.
me too!!
@@johnpossum556 Sounds like they are offering a good service. Win-win if you ask me.
I loved seeing you get excited and say "ooh" when you find something great! 😂
Just so you know, the reason for the quarter in the cart is that people will bring the cart back up to get their quarterback instead of leaving them in the parking lot so they don’t have to pay an employee to walk around and gather up carts. It’s a great idea. It’s very nice and I wish all stores did it.
Thank you for this video. It is so helpful as I’ve been shopping at Aldi for a while now and they do offer some great options. You made it easier to shop there now. Thank you for your efforts so appreciated 😊🙏🏻
Please do a Costco haul!!! Aldi's rocks!!!
Please! Costco!
Im glad they had no problem with you recording. Makes me love aldi even more
sasha216t they run on a skeleton crew so they don't have enough staff to care about recording. The quarter deposit carts is so they don't have to hire someone to collect them.
@@AH-bm4ts And they will let customers take empty boxes from the shelves to use in lieu of bags to save employees time when restocking.
@@AH-bm4ts does my comment mention anything about quarters or carts?
Just subscribed as this video just appeared on my home page, and so glad I clicked on it as this was just the information I needed to head further down the Keto route. Thank you so much for putting this out there. I'll be in Aldi, later.
This was one of the best informational Keto vids I've ever seen! Wish you would do more stores and recipes!
Shop there enough and you’ll keep your “Aldi quarter “ in the glove box and your bags in the trunk!
Yes, it was comical to see him not know what to think of the quarter dealio. LOL. He could've grabbed boxes to pack his stuff in, Aldi in MO lets you do that. But I am no novice, I come in with my TJ's big blue cooler bag and I get all that i need stuffed in it. :) Single shopper though, so it's easy-peasy :)
They even sell little key rings at the check out now with a pocket for your quarter ✨
@@Dudenawdude Mine sadly does not :(
@@Dudenawdude - My Aldi will give you a quarter if you don't have one. Half the time I forget to bring my shopping bags, so I end up grabbing a couple of their boxes (like I did today).
Right! I bought a few cloth bags and I just wash and reuse them. They stay in my trunk so I never forget them 😂
Did anyone notice he got the sweetened almond milk
i came to check the comments to see if anyone else did lol
YES!! I thought I was going crazy
@@onewsfalsetto9439 same 😂
Same lol I was like wait but you said.... Unsweetened
Yep. Easy to do when you don't notice the BIG numbers in the middle of the box. Unsweetened has a big '30' on the front.
In Wisconsin Pick n' Save is Kroger is Metro Mart. Found "simple truth organic" peanut butter on Clearance. Ingredients: Organic Peanuts, Sea Salt.
I have no idea why I enjoyblistening to this guy do these keto hauls...I'm completely vegan! Lol
The Aldi Irish butter registers in myfitnesspal as Kerrygold when you scan the bar code, so it might be the same stuff with different packaging like a lot of Aldi's products.
I think kerryfoods make a lot of Aldi products
Classic Aldi newb. No quarter, distracted by the loading dock bells, surprised by the selection and prices. Thanks for the video. Appreciate the keto lense to shopping at Aldi.
I thought those aspects made it realistic and fun. I don't always appreciate things that are overly rehearsed, for people with a lackluster personality. I did not expect to watch this entire video due to its length, but he kept me interested there were lots of educational tidbits, more than just a plain old "what I eat" type video
I wanted to yell at him to grab some of those empty boxes he walked past...
@@britbc4461 😂😂😂righttt
Perfect comment, I shop the same way. Easily distracted by all the prices haha.
@@JensUniqueNibblesandMore Took the words right out of my fingers.
Thank you for the comparisons and explanations. Even though I don't eat or feed my daughter a keto diet (she's 5 so maybe not a great idea anyway), it's good to know I can buy quite a variety of clean meats, dairy products and cooking products at these stores.
Simi Valley! I lived there in the early 80’s. Thank you for all the knowledge.
I love Aldi. Its my first stop when buying groceries. The next stop is for the items that Aldi does not carry.
Keto in the real world and not the yuppie world, good job Thomas 😎👍
I did Atkins when I was younger.. thank you for your knowledge on clean keto! I'm trying to do it right!
25 cent FYI: if you don't have a quarter, to free a cart, you can 1) ask a shopper to swap smaller change for a quarter 2) ask a shopper returning an empty cart if you can have it bc you don't have a quarter 3) go inside, ask the cashier to swap change for a quarter or to borrow a quarter bc you have no cash 4) ahead of time purchase an Aldi quarter slug or slug keychain online. I have tried 1, 2 and 3 for decades without fail of help.
I love the excitement of an Aldi newbie lol. Thanks for the video it was great.
The best salad dressing is not the cheaper, it's the one you make yourself. It's dead simple, I do not get why you would buy one. Olive oil, apple cider vinegar, french mustard, salt, pepper, done.
Exactly! But I guess people are too lazy to mix their own.
thanks for suggestion, might try it out! Currently experimenting with coconut aminos which probably is not keto...dunno.
Amounts?
Yum!
Ooohhh yeah homemade dressing is 100x better I agree :)
This was such a helpful video for a new keto dieter. Now I know what to look for on labels. Aldi's has always been one of my favorite stores. I buy beef and pork from my local farmer (my son-in-law) and eggs are provided to me by my 6 chickens and I still have some left to share. Thank you so much!
Great video, I wrote down many of the food items. Loved the idea about cauliflower rice with bacon, coconut oil, and salmon patty, sounds delicious and I’ll be making it for my family.
The 0 carb bread is the best I have found so far... Also... Dry it and grind it for a great 0 carb breading for fish, shrimp, pork tenderloins (AKA schnitzel) and chicken, etc.
Is it healthy though? What are the other ingredients? Not hating,i just really want to start keto and bread is one of the things i fear i might not be able to let go of
"Goat cheese has that... goat aftertaste" 🤪🐐
I laughed at that too. Ha
it tastes good though. I have goats cheese almost every day.
I like it, i got used to the taste.
I am anxiously awaiting the Aldi's to come to Milford Ohio because we have KROGERS and the goat cheese at Krogers AND Meijers is like 5 dollars for a little log.. ugh..
Yeah, having raised goats, the product tastes like a dirty goat face. Can't do it. Loved my goats though!
Love 💙 a great grocery shopping video very enjoyable 👍👍👍 love kimchi ,avocados, goat cheese always read the ingredients and nutrition facts. Thank you 💐best wishes to all.
That Aldi is like 10 times the size of mine! I have never seen one so big!
You keep passing some good empty boxes arghhh😂😩 I used to work at aldis but got fired for being slow🤣 I still shop there though
I never shop at places ive been fired from
So, I did this today. Your video was a great guide. It encouraged me to pick up the nice cheap goat cheese which I never liked but I sliced some mini cucumbers length wise on a mandoline and made little tea sandwiches and I like it, I like very much. Thank you!
Your teachings saved my life in Dubai and Iran ❤ thank you
I wish every grocery store made you bring a quarter for a cart. Maybe ppl would put their carts back for once
its like this in most of europe, kinda surprised its not for you guys :o
@@CarefulHowYouStep I think it depends on how much you have to pay to get a trolley/cart. In England, Aldi requires £1 which isn't that big, but adds up, so almost every trolley gets put back in order to get that pound back.
$150 / week is a budget? dang... I spend that per month, lol
Those cali prices
Hes also feeding his family lol
@@alexkennedy5133 dang, I feed me and my wife at £150 per month, but hey, London life ...
Just go plant based whole foods (not the store) and you will be fine. Keto is bullshit anyway. What this guy does with his channel is irresponsible misinformation.
That's for three people, not one.
The bags are there for about 15 cents & they always have boxes for you, just ask or you'll see them around the store! thanks for the video. I'm a regular shopper at Aldi!
New to following you and we recently got.our Aldis and I love shopping there. The food choices are cleaner and I swear better quality than most stores. Really enjoyed you taking the time for us.
