Please note that when painting on fabric, results can vary depending on fabric composition. Dark colours (especially reds) may not be colour fast without waxing. This technique is not advisable for soft cushioned pieces, such as sofas.

this is fabulous for great furniture with superb bones but tired fabric like the ones on Craigslist. I just scored 2 great chairs particularly for this method. cant wait YAY

A good, big, stiff, deck brush works great for me... for both the paint and wax process. Didn't need no fancy, expensive brand name brush.

Chalk paint is not a scientific, miraculous, mixture. While AS may contain some other mysterious ingredient, it's mainly just calcium carbonate, linseed + paint. I sell Chalk Star which is simply- ground chalk. Scoop the ground chalk into any matt paint & it works like a charm; doesn't cost an arm & a leg. Love ya Annie ....& happy for you. Just I'm keeping it real. :-)
Annie do you think i could use your paint to repaint a vintage baby pram/stroller? Its dark navy, I would like a baby blue and white.
Chalk Paint is very safe for use on baby toys and furniture. I think it's a great idea!

I made my own chalk paint (less expensive) with Calcium Carbonate and latex paint and i've painted numerous wood pieces, but I wonder if i can use my own homemade chalk paint on fabric? Will it work just as good as the store bought chalk paint?

What prep should you do to the fabric before painting it
If your fabric is upholstered onto a piece of furniture, moisten the fabric first with some water so that the paint mixture absorbs into the fibers. I always test on the back of my piece or the underside of a cushion first to make certain of the consistency of the paint and the absorbency of the fabric is just right. I did not liked because there is a lot of people, talking and asking a lot of questions at the same time and I could not learn how to make the fabric painting. It seems just to sell the book. What a pity!

Hi Marty, it really depends on the fabric and the colour. Try watering down a little more and doing more coats.

No, you don't need to do anything once you have finished painting, just let it dry.
