Shoei RF-SR Helmet Review
The Shoei RF-SR Helmet is constructed utilizing an aerodynamic shell design with Shoei’s Advanced Integrate Matrix Plus that combines elastic organic fibers into the shell producing an ultra-lightweight, rigid, and resilient helmet. This Snell certified helmet incorporates a ventilation system to draw in cool, fresh air and push the hot, stagnant air out. The interior of this full face helmet features 3D cheek pads, upper liner, and chin strap covers that are removable and washable and the center and cheek pads can be replaced for a more custom fit. How are the eyeglass channels?
This helmet seems aimed more at the upright, naked bike rider rather than the full or 3/4 tuck type of bike/rider.

I actually like this helmet over gt air 2, but my only concern is about safety. As if I pucker ( but why should one do) i can kiss the inside of the mouth area and i can push my chin forward, My stubble can rub the mouth area.... Is that safe at the time of impact?
Having your face close to the chin bar will not reduce the safety in a crash. If the helmet fits properly and is strapped up it will do it's job in a crash. - Van

My bike is street and I have no plans on riding a sportsbike, maybe a cruiser at some point. Which one would you recommend, RF-SR or RF-1200 if prices were the same? The RF-1200 looks more expensive and seems to be of higher quality. I have heard one fella say the RF-1200 has a thicker chin bar making it slightly harder to see the speedo in an upright position, is this true (shouldn't be the case if helmets are identical)?
The RF-1200 is simply a better helmet than the RF-SR. If your budget allows for the 1200 that is the direction I would go. Having ridden in the 1200 I do not feel the chin bar makes seeing the cluster difficult. - Van

My only issue with this helmet is the RF1200. There really isn't a whole lot of a difference in price for a helmet that'll perform better, so why not spend the extra $$$ for a better performing lid in my option.
i have both and didnt like the way the rf1200 fit compared to the rfsr. but i bought the rf12 first couldnt return it so i kept both. plus some budgets dont allow for the extra money. its great and straight to the point plus my favorite color is orange and thats the real reason i bought it, cus i didnt need another helmet
I tried them both on and the RF1200 didn’t come close to this one in the comfort department. This helmet is much more comfortable and is a lot quieter than the Bell Qualifier I was using.

Urban rider.... someone who predominantly rides in an urban environment majority of the time like I do in London that wears gear designed to look clean and simple, gear that looks like normal clothing and not look like a power ranger with garish colours and graphics. Anyone can wear anything just like you can wear adventure gear on a sports bike, don't get so up yourself about a term.
