I own both helmets. I’m here to tell you that the RF-SR vents waaayyyyy better than the RF-1400. Also, the 1400 cheek pads are always popping loose. Finally, the locking down shield on the 1400 can be a pain at times. The 1400 is sweet and equally as quiet and the build quality is just as good as the RF-SR, but if I had to do it again, I’d pass on the 1400 as a second lid and just get a modular.
I ride my GS1250 with an AGV K3 bought in 2022. My question: If I buy a Shoei rf-sr helmet, will I have a better noise reduction compared to my K3? Thanks for the review! 😉🏍 Marc
Shoei is awesome, I ride everyday with a RF 1400 and it's great for a light cruise or triple digits, i do ride with earplugs but the helmet alone isn't terribly loud. The RF1400 is definitely very aerodynamic, all around great helmet. I'd like to see a video like this one comparing the Scorpion EXO Covert FX & HJC V10 , I'm interested in seeing how they compare to the Shoei RF1400. 👍
You said that the transitions visor is a no-brainer, but it does not work for me because it does not get dark enough. I have light blue eyes that are more sensitive to bright sunlight and I need a darker tint.
Transitions shield imo is still good - just wear shades underneath when the sun is actually in your face. I'd rather take shades than a whole extra shield for when it gets dark
I love my RF-1400. Everyone has their preferences but I prefer the face shield lock to be in the front and not the side I don't have any issues manipulating it even with gloves on. I have three LS2 helmets, 2 full face and one modular. I have an LS2 assault and LS2 Storm II ( can't get the Storm II in the USA yet). I have the transition visor on my RF 1400 and I love it, I lost two helmets have the roll down 10 advisor which is nice but I still think I prefer my RF 1400. I get way better airflow when my face shield is closed with my RF 1400 versus my LS2 helmets. Obviously a modular helmet is once you have better airflow in any full face helmet so I'm not even comparing my RF 1400 to my LS2 modular helmet.
Hey Shad. Great review, as always. I have an RF-1400 in size 3XL, and I really need the optional thicker interior liner. Shoei customer support tells me I have to get it from a dealer, but my local dealers are telling me it's out of stock and not available to order. I haven't found it for sale on the internet, and I get the sense that most web sellers don't understand the part or never added it to their catalog. Can Speed Addicts order that part for me? I think the PN is simply "XXL9". If not, what am I supposed to do? I bought one of the finest, most expensive helmets on the market and I'm feeling like I made a mistake because Shoei is not supporting the product.
Hey Block, Sounds like this part might be in short supply at the moment, give us a call and we can track down and ETA for you and make sure you snag one! eta for most RF-1400 accessories seem to be early September at the moment
@@SpeedAddictsTV Thanks for the reply. Early September is the ETA for parts that have been manufactured. As near as I can tell, although this part exists on the Shoei site and it MUST exist in order to support the 3XL RF-1400 as part of a Shoei "Personal Fit System" product line, it seems that it is not in their catalog and no dealer has seen it. This is a slap in the face after dropping $700 on a high-end helmet, and after ruling out options from Bell, Sedici, Arai, Scorpion... I can't even remember all the helmets I've tried in the last two months. I'm going to return the RF-1400 and go back to using the Bell Qualifier. Please let your Shoei rep know that I'm rejecting their $700 helmet in favor of a $200 helmet due to their inferior product support and horrendous customer service. Thank you.
We'd not recommend this practice on any helmet at speed. The riding speed at which the wind will defeat the tension of the detent will depend on the machine, riding position, windscreen and weather conditions - so tough for us to give you a straight answer on this one.
Shoei helmets in general are typically forgiving to slightly rounder heads. Shape here will be very similar between the two. If your head is very round we'd recommend the Arai Quantum-X or Suomy Speedstar
@@Corythehausbaus totally understand you there. So the only other helmet we recommend that's a true round fit is the Suomy Speedstar and Steller. These two Suomy models are really the same helmet with different shell construction. The Speedstar is fiberglass and the Steller is poly. These are very highly reviewed, round fitting lids that are easy on the wallet. See here to check them out - www.speedaddicts.com/suomy-helmets/#/filter:custom_model:Speedstar/filter:custom_model:Stellar
@@SpeedAddictsTV thanks man!!! i already bought rf-sr, it fits ok, feels a bit tight around the cheeks, i wonder if i should keep it, maybe wait till it breaks in.....
@@Corythehausbaus As long as the crown feels acceptable we'd highly recommend allowing those cheeks to pack out before you make an adjustment. You can always purchase a thinner replacement set of cheek pads down the road if needed.

Excellent review - inside and on the bike, both well done!! 👍

If you get a snug fitting helmet, that should help mitigate noise. Don't have a direct comparison.

Comparing a Scorpion to a Shoei is like comparing a Kia to a Bentley.
Thanks for watching!
Good thorough comparison that I needed. Thanks
Had two Shoies and one Arai.
RF-SR has served me well for the last seven years.
Time for a new lid and I still don’t see any need to “upgrade”
Thanks for watching!

Did I understand you to say that the RF-SR comes with the comms device included ?
The comm unit is sold separately.

You could always try a different headliner or size.

All I have are three Arais, was looking at shoei, something I can throw around and not baby like I do with the arais.
