Thank to your video, I saved my pool from disaster. After working on cleaning it for one week and using HTH Green to Blue, my pool is now swimable again!
You did an awesome job with the presentation on this video. Its so many videos out there that never get to the point. I talking in general not just for HTH green to blue. I had purchased this & then found ur video. I love using youtube to help me with stuff. I wish we had more people like u that show u every detail from start to finish. Its to many people that get off the subject & then forget to give important details. Two thumbs up for u. Thank You
After flocculant is added and distributed through recirculate and algae and debris settles on the bottom, vaccum pool but you MUST vacuum to waste to bypass the filter the productvworks wonders 😉
You were supposed to put the brown powder in your basket and turn your pump on "to pool" / recirculate (so the powder is evenly distributed in a fine powder at the top of the water helping drag the algae down to the bottom) I just did it and forgot to switch the pump to recirc...had to backwash to get the stuff out of my filter sand then restarted the pump to run on recirc only for 1 hour. Them let the pool sit til tomorrow
@Blake Horn Basically we want to mix the powder into the water as well as possible. If your pool has recirculate (skipping the filter) then you can dump the powder into the skimmer/basket, however a lot of people do not have recirculate, in my case it was best to sprinkle the powder all over the pool. Let the pump runs for 3 - 4 hours while brushing / mixing up the pool water, algae, chemicals, etc... then turn it of overnight to let all the sediments clumps up and settle at the bottom of the pool.
I came here looking for this solution. I didn’t read the bag and dumped it in. Now my filter is running weird. Do you know if this will ruin my sand filter?
@@LinzLovesBingo No I don't think it will ruin your sand filter. I used to have a sand filter at my previous home, it is very long lasting. One for the powder coagulate / clumps up together the algae and dirt into more solid material. You were not suppose to suck that into your filter. If you have already, it is too late, you probably have to change the sand in your sand filter to restore the filtering efficiency of your sand pool filter. Buying replacement sand is cheap: amzn.to/3gaJeMq but the labor / time of draining and replacing the sand may cost more than material.
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS I ran the filter when I first put it in so I don’t think it had time to clump up. There wasn’t algae. It was getting cloudy and did it as preventative maintenance. Filter will stay off until I can vacuum it all up. I feel stupid. I always read the directions. Not this time though. 🤦🏻♀️
Good video but a couple suggestions 1 put in shock powder and circulate for 1 hr them put in orange floculant " fallout" circulate for 2 hrs tundra off pump and let set over night the be easy setting up backwash vaccume pole and hose and slowly vacuum bottom trying not to disturb areas nearby and I think you will be even more pleased with this product I have used many may times
if you read the instructions they say to put the powder in the SKIMMER ONLY! But like everyone else I only watched the vid so I certainly hope it doesn't have any negative effects to my pool! Lesson learned I will read directions carefully and not just watch the video!
If your pool has a recirculation mode at the pump and valve, you can put it in the skimmer. My pool does not have recirculation if I put the powder in the skimmer most of it will get trapped in my pool filter. The goal is to get the powder mixed into the pool water anyway best you can.
I hooked the end of the vacuum hose to the skimmer. However you need to have a spout to dump the dirty water out instead of having it go through your pool filter and back to your pool. Here is a separate video how to install drain spout / hose bib. ua-cam.com/video/te07f_4taIw/v-deo.html
hi there, i loved the way you cleaned the pool, i am living in Katy TX too and have the same issue now. question? i have 20,000+ gallon pool, so one box of that product should be enough? also did you apply the second powder right after you pour the first powder? also i my pool dont have circulation, so if i run the filter for 1 hour is ok? thanks
Yes, 1 box of the product from HTC green to blue should be enough, my pool is around 25000 gallons I think. Yes also on the second question, I did not remember waiting between first and second powder. I do remember having to wait until next morning to let the powder mix and clump up with the algae. Hmm if you pool have no recirculation try to run only 30 min but you would want to try to mix up the powder yourself using your pool brush. Basically it is like adding sugar to your tea. You need to mix it up, but don't want to get those powder stuck on your pool filter.
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS awesome, I bought the package from Walmart today and will do exactly as in video. Hope to get the same results as yours. Thank you so much.
What do you use to vacuum after this that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. I have a basic above ground pool and normally just use the little vacuum that attaches to the hose. But it isn’t picking up the “brown dirt” at the bottom.
Hi I need help I did this and my pool is brown still I bought a vacuum at Leslie pool supply but when I put it in there it just mix’s everything help please I have and above pool 3300 gallons
How did you prevent the sediments from spreading all over your water again? That’s the issue I’m having. Could it be because I’m using a vacuum head with brushes?
Do not use brush or vacuum head with brush. You will end up disturbing the sediments and mixing them up with your clear water. Use a flexible swimming pool vacuum head like this one instead: amzn.to/3959EPl
After you add flocculent you should mix in the water for only 30 min, then you should turn off your pump, keep the water still to let the heavy flocculent (which should be attached to the algae and stuff) to sink down to the bottom.
@Joey Yick Stop the robot vacuum. The robot vacuum can not vacuum (filter) enough to remove the algae from the water. You have to just vacuum/suck the bad algae water out of your pool. If you pool pump valve does not have DRAIN, you need to use regular vacuum head like I showed in video, or watch this video about using vacuum from skimmer: ua-cam.com/video/JERKpM1Yg94/v-deo.html If all of the above is not possible, rent / buy a sump pump like this one ( amzn.to/3ORwREe ) to vacuum the algae sediments at bottom of pool.
What do you mean by unplugged? After dumping all the powders, you need to mix the powders. Circulating using the pump is one way. Another way is to use your brush and lots of manual labor :-(
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS 4 in 1 is another shock powder that they sell at department stores. It doesn't have the brown powder that makes algae sink to the bottom but it's supposed to shock the pool and clear the water. I've used it and it is a good shock treatment all in one.
I don’t think that’s what instructions says. Need to mix the 1s bags first while pump off with brush, then put the pump in circulate only, not going through filter, and then dump 2s bag and let it run 1 hour then let it sit for next day. But whatever, as long as it works.

Great Video... can I have a link to both your hand and robot vacuum? I need a good one
Loved your video.pinch a penny wanted $800 to do my 36 ft by 18 ft kidney shape pool which holds 25,000 gallons of water.
Awesome video! You saved my pool!
Awesome! Just applied this product to my pool and I’m waiting to see how It looks tomorrow! Do you have a link to your vacuum?
I used a simple pool vacuum head like this one: amzn.to/3BSv3or
it works but you better have a automatic pool sweeper
For best results you need to vacuum to WASTE (out of the pool/into your yard) especially if you have a cartridge filter.

Yes it does. Make sure you bypass the filter while vacuuming the sediments. Otherwise your cartridge will be clogged
How did it turn so green? Kind of cool with the lagoon vibe

Vaccuum to waste people a robot will just stir it all back up and ruin your hard work. Same as vacuuming to recirculate.
